What was the motivation to become a trainer?

Jillian: I was a fat kid my whole life. My mother got me into martial arts and through that I got healthy and I re-defined my self-image. It taught me to achieve goals personally and professionally. Through that experience, I became passionate about helping people re-build their lives through health and fitness.

Jillian: I like to be in a gym. I need a controlled environment. I need climate control, I need my equipment. It's like a toolbox...I need my stuff. I am a control freak, and I cannot control the outdoors. Get me in a gym!

Recipe Substitution for Vegetarians

Jillian: If you are not vegan, go with egg whites, fish, and whey protein. If you are vegan, you have to go with tofu, soy, legumes and be extremely mindful of calories. You MUST take a multi-vitamin especially if you are a vegan. You have to give your body the nutrients it needs.

Keeping Off the Weight

Bob: Oh, I love this question. Just because you lost the weight doesn't mean you can go back to old behaviors. Hopefully you've lost new patterns by losing the weight. DO NOT circle back to your old patterns or you will gain the weight back.

Jillian: it's obviously an on-going process. You have to deal with the emotional issues as to why you are overweight. So when you lose weight and then fall onto emotionally trying times, you can use your new resources to handle it positively so you don't gain the weight back.

Favorite Part of the Show

Bob: My favorie part of the show is being able to be part of the journey with each contestant. To see how their lives change right before your eyes.

Jillian: I have to agree. Seeing them overcome these inner-demons. Not just physical, but also the emotional battles they face down.

Brittany's Plateau

Jillian: Brittany has a hormone condition, and there's no real way to treat it on campus so we had to send her to an endocrinologist. When your hormones are out of whack, your whole metabolism is out of whack. It took me awhile to get to the bottom of it, but I finally did it. It's a testosterone imbalance in women that makes them gain weight, and when I finally pieced it together it was a little too late in the game. But now we're able to deal with it professionally with a top doctor at UCLA and she's going to be good.

Bob: Getting started in yoga is easy. Just join a class. See if it works for you. Each class has different levels. Test your body out and see what class is right for you. Yoga is the Foutain of Youth. Remember...I am actually 87-years-old!

Bob: We did watch the weigh-ins for part of the 2nd season too. But I find the weigh-ins so stressful! Jillian wanted to leave one time and I was like PLEASE STAY.

Jillian: I know...I couldn't take it! I had to leave!

Bob: I can handle it way better than Jillian.

Jillian: It's just so stressful...the things that go on that you don't see, we need some deleted scenes maybe...trust me, it's just really stressful.

Which Contestant has Changed the Most?

Bob: I think Mark has changed the most this season, emotionally. There is a reason why he cries all the time. It was a dam and together we broke it down. He's lived with walls all his life and they crashed down while on the show.

Jillian: Yeah, Mark was definitely the one who changed the most.

Bob: HAHAHA exactly! Paul Newman peanut butter cups!

Jillian: Yeah, I use that "but they're organic!" excuse on those peanut butter cups as if that makes them less fattening. Ha! But yes...Chocolate! Sugar! Tequila!

Bob: But ok, actually...pizza. I'd like to get a healthy pizza, I suppose.

Working with Couples

Jillian: It was exhausting working with couples.

Bob: They brought in their enablers. It was rough. We like working with people one on one and this posed a tougher challenge.

Jillian: They are comfortable because they have their family member or friend there. We want them out of that comfort zone. It makes it that much more difficult to open up.

Bob: Of course we still stay in touch with past contestants. We are their touchstones. Erik was somebody I really loved in season three. He really touched my life and was such an inspiration for so many.

Jillian: Absolutely. Brittany from this season and Julie from Season Four were two that really stand out for me. I love keeping in touch with contestants from the past.
