Trousers

Good evening, this is Aaron. Tommy's standing over my shoulder. We're both very glad to see so many of you joining the post-show chat. I've chosen this question to start with 'cause it's an easy one. Tommy wears the pants, I wear a cute little Chanel outfit that he likes.

The bit with Judd Hirsch rocked. Finally, the truth incorporated into an entertaining package. The irony is the best segment told most upon itself. "Are they yelling in Hollywood, Aaron?"

TV sucks these days. Maybe you can get it not to. Even in psychiatry, you get a 50-minute hour. Why not in TV? The limos and the suits can do without a little. Give us more program and less sponsors. Forty-minute stories will not keep the masses fed. We want our bread and circuses!

Oh No 3IH.... I am sure they look more like... Johnny Cash! *evelgrin*

Well I always thought that dees ah from Hugo. Oh come on you guys that know me, allow me that one indulgence. I've been moaning about the exclusion of that line for months and the pre-emptive strike of "It was cut for time" kind of blew the question.

I noticed the music tonight was diverse and loud. This is definitely a huge change from The West Wing (except for Mandy getting pulled over in the pilot), but will the music be similar throughout this season? Or was it just more festive for opening night?

Nice to see some of the great West Wing actors back. Also nice to see the first episode used to take a big whack at the Christian Right, as per The West Wing - Episode 1.

Way to go Aaron, you are definately the best writer in television...The chemistry w/ Brad and Matt seems almost as good as Brad and Rob. Great show boys, keep up the good work!!!

My wife and I thought this was one of the best first shows we've seen on television in years. Never have logged on to a blog before, never watched a single episode of West Wing (Sorry!) But, we're looking forward to a great show and love the cast from the beginning. It made enough of an impression we felt we should send you kudos! Perfect time slot for us, 37-38. Our four kids are in bed by 8:30pm, please keep that in mind for your midwestern american families like us.
Chuck & Joi in Chicago!

I won't blow smoke up your butt and say I watched West Wing cuz I didn't but there's always DVD. As for Matthew Perry in a dramatic yet comic role, I've been waiting for this and I'll be on NBS... OOPS! (ha ha) NBC EVERY Monday!!! You had me from the jump! Hope to see you on the Emmy stage next year!

In actual response to this answer.... that's hot. Um, really.

Posted by Drea at 09-18-2006,11:20 PM

Aaron, can we expect to see another political drama from you in the future or is west wing all we get? Come on i was following the santos election closer than the actual elections(though i did vote, and for Kerry to boot, good dem that i am)

How about Alison Janney in a role. Just imagine the banter again between her and Brad.

Thank you for bringing another intelligent and witty show to the network. This caliber of television has been sorely missed recently.

Also, kudos to your casting director. I have been anxiously awaiting Sarah Paulson playing against Amanda Peet, but casting the ever-elegant Donna Murphy was pure genius!

fun! maybe faye dunaway for a cameo?

Not nearly enough of the people walking fast as they are talking fast...but then, none of us are any younger, are we?

Posted by JFHiggins at 09-18-2006,11:16 PM

So, how long until Joshua Molina shows up in the cast? I hope not long.

Enjoy the season,

Kevin

Looks like you have another winner on your hands.

Come on Aaron and Tommy, type FASTER :-)

Posted by Kevin at 09-18-2006,11:15 PM

So, are we going to be having these little "chats" weekly? 'Cause that would be utterly delightful, in my oh-so very humble, slightly fangirl-y opinion.

Please just promise us there will be no dating plans :)

Posted by Tyler at 09-18-2006,11:14 PM

What a great start for a great show. This program is going to fill a huge void in Monday night TV (for those of us who don't watch football). How much of your (Aaron's) life is put into the show? Are there other real life inspirations for these characters?

Posted by Emily at 09-18-2006,11:13 PM

I don't know that i want to see Aaron in a dress frankly

Posted by Kevin at 09-18-2006,11:12 PM

Congratulations!!..Great cast, fast moving, see ya'all at the emmy's...can't wait until next week to see your show...

Guys,
West Wing was the best written show in the history of television. Studio 60 may very well be as good. I gotta tell you though, I always lost about 25% of the dialog in the nat sound on WW. Studio 60 is the same. With writing this great, PLEASE let us older folks hear it.
Keep Going!

Congratulations on what looks to be another AMAZING show! A lot of similarities to TWW. Was that a conscious choice?

Posted by Susan from Milwaukee at 09-18-2006,11:12 PM

Do we get pictures of this?

Posted by EAG at 09-18-2006,11:10 PM

What took you back to the tv setting after west wing, we havent seen you do this type of thing since sports night?

Posted by Kevin at 09-18-2006,11:10 PM

Will the first season finale be entitled "What Kind of Day Has it Been?"

It better be!
