Matt & Danny

Did I write Matt and Danny with Matthew and Brad in mind? I wrote it hoping they'd do it. Matthew came to us right away, which was a lucky stroke for us. Tommy and I knew that Brad was the guy to play Danny from the beginning, but we were initially reluctant to cast him because he'd just gotten done doing seven years of some show about the White House. So we saw every other actor in town for the part and in the end agreed that talent wins. After shooting five episodes, I'm certain we made the right decision.

thank-you aaron and tommy a million times. haven't been this excited about a show since the west wing. Matthew and Bradley are the very best.

Can I just say that when I heard that Brad was joining the show, I wanted to tune in to get my “Josh” fix. I can honestly say that after just one episode in now want my “Danny” fix. I knew that Matthew & Brad had great chemistry after seeing them together on The West Wing, but they have knocked it out of the park with Studio 60. It is so great to see the both of them speaking your beautiful language again and having those infamous “walk and talks”. My how we have missed them. Welcome back & may you both have many years of success on the show.

I think that the casts you come up with just have that certain chemistry that makes a show work. I'm not sure what it is exactly about them, but it just works. Thanks for the great shows.

It must be nice to write for cast you have so much confidence in.

"So we saw every other actor in town for the part and in the end agreed that talent wins."

Will Brad be renogitiating his contact after that comment?

For those of us who watched the WW I htink it may take a couple of episodes to get past the whole 'Josh' thing.

Did you consider this when writing for the charater or in the direction of the actor/character?

Seems like you may have hit refresh yourself, there, oh-double poster? (Double blogger? Do we even have terminology for that?)

Anywho. It seems like you're building a wide cast of characters -- and don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not complaining about that. Are you worried about loosing track of them all, though; I mean, I'd certainly hate for another character to get lost in the void a la Mandy on the West Wing.

Mr. Sorkin and Mr. Schlamme. I am a student at NYU and I am in the Dramatic Writing program at Tisch. I as well as many of my classmates are among your biggest fans. Personally Sports Night, I think, is one of the greatest shows ever to be on television. My dream is to become a writer for a television show. We thought we may as well ask if you would like to come and speak at our class. We understand that you must be incredibly busy but we also figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. You would be speaking to a classroom of aspiring television writers who would greatly appreciate your presence. If you have any interest, please email me at jje242@nyu.edu. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
