Hi blog buddies!!!!!!

I am working hard and having a blast here in Tampa, Florida, but it has been difficult to get online and keep in touch with y'all and I totally apologize for the sparse blogs.

I'll be back in LA on Saturday and all will return to normal here at the RossBlog on Monday, (raise right hand) blog's honor.

Also, blog buddies, I have some HUGE - I mean HUGE HUGE - news that I can't wait to share with you. It's big. Like, blog-shattering/ground-breaking/mind-blowing/big-time big big. I'll tell you as SOON as I can.

Also, I'm on The Tonight Show on Friday live via satellite from Tampa, Florida!!!

I've seen some of the segment that will air that night and all I can say, blog buddies, is you DO NOT want to miss it - HYSTERICAL stuff (if I do say so myself)!

Although I haven't had time to film any footage for a TALKY BLOG, I did snap some pictures during my Super Bowl adventures to share with all of YOU!

Here's the outside of the stadium where the big game will take place on Sunday.

Here I am inside the stadium.

Here I am with Anthony, a writer on our show who produces all of my segments, as we discuss our game plan for the segment.

Here I am filming a stand-up with Kevin, our camera operator and segment director.

We were there to cover media day, the day when all the players from both teams walk around and talk to press from all over the world.

For me and every red-blooded American boy, it was a dream come true. Football and figure skating are tied for my favorite sport ever and being in the presence of these players was 2nd only to the time I professed my love to Michelle Kwan face to face (she even gave me a rose - it's a great story that I won't get into now).

I met tons of players from both teams - you'll see all that in my Tonight Show segment on Friday.

Also, here I am with NFL superstar and current NFL Network Analyst Dion Sanders.

Here's me in an alternate version of a Cardinal's jersey.

Later that night we went to a party the NFL and the city of Tampa held for all the media here covering the event.

When I walked around the corner and saw these two welcoming guests at the front door, I just had to join in!

I think I'm gonna make that my new Facebook picture! Ha! :)

The party was great and I even met a blog buddy! Here I am with "Gator Kim"!

These pictures are just a lil' taste of what I've been up to while I've been here.

Tonight I'm going to VH1's Pepsi Smash to see Rhianna and others perform with my crew (including those pictured here and those who weren't - Izzy, Adam, Tommy, Kenny & Scott).

I'll try to keep taking pictures and will also try to film a bit for a TALKY BLOG, okay gang?

I will be wearing my PJ's all day watching the game in ultimate comfort.
Just wanted to mention...I was at the Bonnie Hunt show yesterday and was able to see ROSIE!!!! tape her segment which will air Febraury 27th. She looked FANTASTIC!!! Her new Movie "America" looks like a huge winner and I just can't wait for it to come out. Figures you would be in Florida and she in California...Anyway, I always wanted to meet her and so I am chalking this one up to a meeting her even though we never spoke. She is awesome!

Venus is BLAZINGLY bright right now... as bright as it ever gets. If you want to be part of the Venus Bowl, wait until the afternoon and then look for the thin crescent moon off to the left of the sun. Venus is underneath the moon. So I just now got a chance to read the comments from my last blog entry.

I had no idea I was on so many different news broadcasts throughout the country yesterday!

HOW CRAZY!!!

Thanks, blog buddies, for keeping me updated! Did you see me in USA Today yesterday?!?

SUPER WEIRD!!!

Also, it bums me out that some of you get so angry when I don't have time to post a blog.

Just to reiterate, my contract with NBC says I have to post 3 text blogs a week. That's it.

I, however, like to interact with you and, therefore, go above and beyond my duties here on the blog.

Why? Because I like it. I like you.

So cut me a bit of slack, gang. I've been on the road for about 2 weeks non-stop. After trying over and over again, I couldn't get online yesterday. And rather than continue trying to get online during my 2 hours off yesterday, decided to take a much needed nap.

Is that okay with all of you?

Thanks to all of you who do understand. And to everyone else? Let's calm down and start with a clean slate. :)

Hey Ross and Hey BB! I haven't commented yet however I am going to now! I met Ross last week at the "after" party for the HRC event (hey ross what's up) we met in the VIP area and I just want to tell you all, Ross is the REAL deal!!! I also got to talk with Ryan on the phone for a moment (hey Ryan!) and Ross did film a bit of a talky wit me and him but because it was so dark it didn't come out all that great. So come on guys, give our main man a break! He is absolutley one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and I for one am happy I was able to meet and talk with him.

Hope everyone is doing well. We are just thawing out here in the nations capital!

Hey Ross...is there someplace we can watch you do the live shot from Tampa for TTS on Friday night? I would give anything to meet you. I almost went to Streetcar Charlies Tuesday night but my roommate was tired so we didn't go. I was so upset when I heard you had dinner there. I could have met you. I do just two blogs, yours and Rosie's. I met Rosie and had her sign my book when she was in Clearwater with the True Colors tour and I would love to be able to say I met you too.

"Cinderella team? I don't think that works. I mean it's a little girly," Matthews told guard Reggie Wells of the Arizona Cardinals, surprise finalists at the Super Bowl.

Wells said he didn't mind the reference.

"People have called us much worse things than that," Wells said. "So if that's what they want to call us, let them call us that."

Inspired by the Cinderella theme, Matthews asked Wells if he had a favorite Disney princess, such as Jasmine in the Disney film Aladdin.

When Wells didn't respond immediately, Matthews started singing lyrics from that film: "I can show you the world, signing, shimmering, splendid ..."

Katie and Delly: A bunch of us on my floor at work just nailed it! The moon and Venus are almost directly at the meridian (mid-point of the sky) on the West Coast, with Venus directly to the left of the moon (about 6 degrees over). Both are clearly visible!

If you're further East, the two are further west in the sky, and should be even easier to spot (the sun is sinking and dimming due to atmospheric extinction).

This morning as I was taking my son to school(he listens to sports talk radio), I heard someone say "Ross the Intern from the Tonight Show". I think the guy being interviewed was complaining because he didn't think Media Day was exciting enough. He said you and 2 other media people where there and the players have been programmed to be too business like and they didn't give any juicy info when being interviewed.

As a Catholic, I so LOVE the picture of Cardinal Mathews.

Well everyone....Katie, John, TamTam and JoJobits! It's official....at the weigh in this morning, I have officially lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks!!!! I couldn't be more excited. I am actually getting to a point where I am not dreading the treadmill. The most difficult thing I find is still not emotional eating....baby steps baby steps. To everyone working towards a healthier lifestyle keep up the great work!

Sue: I was only partly joking last night! Aunt Nancy asked if Venus is the only planet that rotates backward, or clockwise if viewed from above the plane of the solar system (looking down on the planets from above).

I said the sticking point (!) was Uranus, and it is.

The spin axis for all the planets has a clearly defined north pole that is more or less at right angles to the plane of the Solar System's ecliptic, the thin pancake within which all the planets are embedded (it's the small deviations from ninety degrees that give planets their seasons, but that's a different topic).

The one messy exception is Uranus. The planet is "tipped over" by 98 degrees; its original "North Pole" actually points slightly below the plane of the ecliptic.

Imagine if the earth was tipped over like that! In summer, the north pole would be pointing almost directly at the sun, and the sun would never set across the whole northern hemisphere. In winter, the entire hemisphere would be bathed in darkness.

That's what it's like on Uranus!

Now, back to the question: Is Venus the only planet that spins in the wrong direction? Yes, if you look are Uranus from the perspective of its original north pole, the one that now points slightly below the ecliptic.

However, by convention, most astronomers assign the "North Pole" of the planet to the pole that points above the ecliptic. Since Uranus tipped over beyond 90 degrees, that honor now goes to what was originally its south pole. And viewed from that perspective, Uranus rotates in the same "backward" direction as Venus.

Aunt Nancy, I'll bet your sorry you asked! LOL!

P.S. Just what event tipped Uranus over, and just what event, made Venus spin backwards, are still mysteries!

Well, friends. Back at the original weight of 138. Next week, I am going to step it up a notch and start going to the gym to work out. Plus, I'm going to change my birth control as well. I've put on almost twenty pounds since I've been on it, and it's not like I've really changed my eating habits or anything! AAHHH! It's worth a try. I'll will keep you updated!

Hang in there Tam! If you have to take those things, you must be young. I got spayed when I was 36 just for that reason, besides they aren't good for you in the long run.

You can do it girlfriend and if ya need a kick in the butt just say so.

Ross - it's been a while since you inspired people to start getting healthy. Some guys will have given up already; not everyone will lose weight straight away and they will have become disheartened. Well I have tried to call our local NBC affiliate to see if they knew where Ross was doing the live shots for the show tonight and can't get any information. There are a couple of BB here in Tampa and we would love the opportunity to meet Ross while he is right in our hometown. We probably will never have the opportunity again. Too bad Ross couldn't have had some time or place where we could have met him and said hi. I have the dvr set for tonight though so we will get to see him on tv.

BLOG BUDDIES--I am thanking G-d for power!!! I have been in a shelter the last few days because my home had no power/heat etc. It came back on for my home this morning. lots of people are still without power and I hope they get it soon!! The peeps were SUPER DUPER UPER helpful at the shelter and took good of me and my family. They even got us 3 square hot meals a day! hard to sleep at night though with all the pets (YES THEY ALLOWED PETS!! we had our two fur-babies) and little ones having trouble sleeping. But I have little ones too so I totally understand. I'll be happy to sleep in my bed tonight! A blizzard is expected here sunday/monday wish me luck that the power holds! GOOD luck to all others in this area!

Whabbear--just caught up with comments-and you proved me right! Last night I had an argument with my family about Venus...it was so bright-what a sight! My daughter said it was a satellite, my husband said it was a plane. I said that plane hasn't moved in the last half hour, and I don't think satellites have lights (is that right?). Finally, tonight my husband conceded that it's Venus. Now I can tell him I am proven right by an Astroscientist.

I am loving the big sky here in AZ...that huge moon was awesome, now Venus...anything else coming up to look for?

Meghan formerly from Germany - No, I didn't lose power thank the good Lord, but Donna (Hartldo) did. As I type, there are still folks in my Tri-State area without power in their homes. It's supposed to go into the teens tonight. Many are heating with generators or kerosene heaters. Kids from my school in WV are effected too. (One reason to close school=No power/No Heat. I hear we may get another storm next week too.

WHAB - Did you locate an addition to our Solar System??? I don't think my 7 years old are ready to learn about Myanus and Uranus. TOO much info for MEEEEEEeeeeeee!!
