Mini-Talky Treat: lunch with Carnie Wilson.

July 23, 2008

4:53pm Pacific Time

Surprise, blog buddies!

I know what you're thinking - "3 TALKY BLOGS in one day?!?"

Yes yes yes!!! Why why why?!? WHY NOT!!!

Okay, so I had lunch with my amazing friend Carnie Wilson today at a super-fancy place here in LA called The Ivy. Seriously - two salads was like $70 (Carnie paid, thank God).

Anyway, like a big dork I filmed it for you and you won't believe what we found waiting for us (okay, really for Carnie) when we walked out after lunch.

Enjoy! :)

And that was what we call a Mini-Talky Treat!

Until tomorrow, gang!
Ross

Yes, that's right gang!

Keep checking back - I will be posting a Mini-Talky Treat (a first on the RossBlog!) any minute now!

Hi Carnie!!

bye!

So, just finished with dinner, came back to check out comments and what do I see? A NEW talky?! Ross, you spoil us! Seriously, the look on my face was, "what?!" and I actually shook my head! So, will people still comment under the earlier talky or do all comments go here now? I'm so confused! I need a "suprise talky" tutorial--quick!

I love that you had that the Paparazzi say "Hi blog Buddies"

Will have to check later to see if you make TMZ.com or TMZtv tommorrow ?

Wow,a double dose of ross!!! one thing, all yur fans on twitter wud appreciate if you wud twit/twitter when u post yur blog/updates!!!!!

wow! now not only Whabbear gets a little afternoon delight! hee!hee!

so funny! I actually just checked TMZ to see if you're on it, yet! wouldn't be surprised! you're a huge star Mr Mathews!

it would have been great to start making out w/Carnie! That would have made all the tabloid shows for sure!

oh, btw, your tan looks wonderful. very sexy!

ok that was cool. i bet there will be a pic on some website soon lol

Ross,

How exciting was that? I wish I could have been there to get some "good advice" from Carnie. Thanks for sharing!

Tom from NewZealand

I LOVE Carnie Wilson!! That was awesome! I loved how the paparazzi said "HI blog buddies" lol

Here is a link to some video that DIVA found!! Thanks Diva!!!!!!!!

x17video.com/celebrity_video/carnie_wilson/carnie_wilson_and_ross_mathews.php

Thanks for posting the link, Joey! Sometimes the FOAD monster hates me......grrr.

OMG, Caiti, Derek, and Carnie all in one day! Lisa, these talkies were just, well, delightful!

Linda: Wrongo! LOL!

Mom_Ross: With all the boobs in the talkies today, we were kind of hoping they'd lure you into chat tonight! Perhaps tomorrow? It's CG's chat birthday party... she's turning 29!

LOL! I'm watching the first episode of "Sordid Lives": The series. What a hoot! To be continued...

And now for something completely different: I snuck out of work early this afternoon to catch "The Dark Knight". Wow! Fabulous movie! Heath Ledger was awesome, and the script was actually literate and thought-provoking! In a summer action flick, yet!

your life is so cool ross. it is neat to see, i have to say, a regular guy turning into a "super star" (as molly shannon would say with jazz hands) right before our very eyes. one day your ross from washington state and then your famous, and you let us blog buddies come along for that ride and it is too cool mister. its like we feel we actually know someone famous, like for real. thank you for sharing your crazy wonderful life with us.
btw, carnie wilson is great. i can't wait for your show to air you did w/ her and maureen. they were so great on the cmt show gone country. so neat to see the human side of celebrity.

oh, guess what. i found out a few days ago that my neighbor, who i play bunco with, went to high school with madonna. i was like, "shut up"! not only did she bust out the yearbook, but she said she lived on the same street as her and went to the same church. i really thought i was in heaven cause i suddenly realized i was just 3 degrees seperated from rosie herself. so neat. anyway, i needed to share. it's as close to hollywood as this texas girl is ever going to get.
love to you.

Whabbear~ Is linoleum the gift for turning 29 (again)?

lol

OMG, LMAOOOOOOO.....right now, the ad in the upper right hand corner of the window for this page (above Ross' Links) is for the movie "Pineapple Express"!!! How perfect!

PINEAPPLE, PINEAPPLE, PINEAPPLE!

Diva: Yes, that's exactly the right choice for CG's 29th!

Only thing is, you have to find some that's kind of yellowed.

So Ross, you got yourself the iPhone huh? I heard the little text message chime while you were talking to Carnie in your car. :)

~*~*~Happy Thursday~*~*~
Stopping by to say the coffee is READY!!

Thanks for the mini-talky Ross.

I have to go get ready! B4N

Hi Ross,
That was neat, thank you for the extra blog video. Pretty soon you aren't going to be able to go anywhere unless you are in disguise. I bet they were there for you just as much as they were there for Carnie.

Mornin' BB's!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Joey ~ Thanks much for the great video of Ross and Carnie! That was SO cool.

I am up early today since I crashed at 10 last night so I am going to take George Michael for a walk again today. Hoping to go and see The Dark Knight later on since I have been a Batman fan all my life. BANG! POW!

Have a good one guys.

Good Morning, Happy Thursday! WOW Thursday already?? That means it's soon the WEEKEND WOOT-WOOT... No I don't have any exciting plans just knowing that it's the weekend, that's all...(cheep-date)
So anyway.. Thanks for the coffee Chriann, It's so nice that your back on the net, so you can make us coffee again! clinl~~clink!! Morning all you Crack Crew! I'm a little late this morning... slow start then I was reading comments befor I stopped for coffee!
Love Carnie Wilson, so sweet and funny! I hope you make TMZ again, that would be awesome! If you would have kissed Carnie goodbye, you would surely be on the tabloid covers.. such scandal, Ross... :)
Katie in NJ: Some pretty strong storms hit here yesterday & last night, how about you??? Even lost power for a bit.
Hope Dolly didn't effect any BB's out there in Texas!
Hey Ya'll have a great Thursday BB's!

clink~ clink sorry my k fell into the l.

from the chime sound coming from your car, it appears you broke down and got the iphone?? You will luv luv LUV it.. only thing is it doesn't do videos, or you could use it for your new mini talkies, and call them "mini Itreats" ha ha

peace out. Patrick in Atlanta

OH Ross that was SO much fun! You are a hoot!

Chriann LOL I just read your Blog. HAHAHA Too cute! Well? How late were you for work that morning??

I can't watch it yet!!!!

I don't have sound in this office so I have to wait :( I will admit that after you all loved it so much I watched it without sound but that just made me want it worse!!! :(

Whabby or others who have seen batman.....appropriate for 12/13 year old boys? My son is dying to see it.

Good morning Blog Buddies!

Did anyone get a chance to see Richard Simmons testify on Capitol Hill this morning on children's fitness? OMG! That guy is fantastic! He had me in tears before the end!

Cathy LOL! I'm glad you liked it.
I like to get to work by 8 but I didn't get here until about 8:30 that morning.

Good Thursday Morning!

It's gloomy and rainy this morning...and my weekend approaches it's end :(

Glad to have you back @ the crack Chriann...I think I'll have cup this morning! ::clink clink::
How's the wireless working???
Nice you won't have to travel this weekend to get a signal!

Have a great day all!

Hey Trey!

I did'nt see it, but would like too. It's not on YouTube (but probably will be soon). Did you see it on one of the News channels?

Good morning, Trey, Chriann, jeepin, BCDM, Cathy, CC, JoanK, and Patrick in Atlanta!

Val24: Absolutely! The movie manages to incorporate quite sophisticated ethical and moral themes, including a nice exploration of good and evil and their relation to the social order, into a script that nevertheless featured action and adventure around every corner. All that with nary a curse word or sex scene to be found!

Bottom line: I think boys your age would love it!

What a treat! Thanks, Ross!

The talky was great! My fave was y'all on the phone at the end ;)

Thanks whabbear! I think we'll definitely catch it this weekend then :)

Hiya Whabbear! Hope things are well in your neck of the woods!
patrick

omg how fun! The ivy sounds very hip! im glad you got away from the paparazzi i was laughing hard at the people coming up to u and u were forcing them to say hi blog buddies to get an autograph haha. loves it!

love,
one of your youngest fans

Ross,
Is there anything you wouldn't do for us Blog Buddies? Thanks so much for the fun tiny-talky!

And thanks to you too, Carnie!

Hey, Patrick! Did you see that Federer lost yesterday? Oy!

Good morning everyone.

I'll have some of that coffee, thanks. Clink Clink. Tastes good!

I'm a little bummed today. The house sale just got a lot less complicated. The buyers backed out. No sale. The search for a buyer begins anew. (sigh)

Have a great day everyone. I'm gonna just lay low at home today. Chill and do a few chores. Very few. LOL

Katie

whabbear - don't tell me Roger lost???????? my son is a huge federer fan. We watched wibelton and were very sad when he lost wimbelton (great, long match tho'!)

Ross!!
You have SUCH a FUN LIFE!!!! I LOVE living vicariously through you!! Thanks, as always, for your talkys and Enjoy your day!!

Until later, Ann:)

Katie: Sorry to hear about your balkers, i mean "potential" buyers backing out :( I had everything crossed hoping for the bestest!

Lisa: I was devastated by Roger's "Wimbleton" loss too! And now, with this latest loss, he's almost certain to give up the #1 ranking in the next few weeks. :(

BTW, I LOL'd at your spelling, which I replicated in the previous paragraph. It's actually Wimbledon. For some reason, people have this stubborn tendency to incorrectly pronounce it "tun" rather than "dun".

It's kind of like pronouncing Chris's last name "Everett" rather than "Evert" !

Katie: Sorry to hear the deal fell through. Bummer... and there's all this news today about home sales plunging. Yikes!

Ross, That was simply hillllllllllllarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carnie & U were so adorable yesterday!Tell Carnie this was one of my fav. quick talky blogs & also U having her on the car phone after wards! Too cute!!

So what the going price for a Photo of Ross & Carnie?Did they go in & take pixs of the rest of your leftover salad too? 9I know , what leftover salad?) With tha kind of outrageous price..I would take it home in a doggy bag!(Louise prob. would like it though;-)

Well,... Carnie Wilson is so unpretentious just like YOU are !Had a feeling she was the real deal & just love her!!

Isn't that crazy how they just stand there and snap U ??
Thanks for sharing all that!

BTW,.. was your salad really all that good there??LOL!!

Now we should get all the other celebs. to make the Pap's say "HI BlOG BUDDIES,"and everytime the PAP's are waiting for them & ready to snap a pixs, when they are out to eat..etc.!Just cuz!!!;-)
Pretty soon the PAP's will be waiting for US.. MEANING YOUR Official Ross BLOG BUDDIES!! OK ,..I will practice my OLD lady striking pose & signing my Name in marker pen as JOANE...!LOL!

I guess I better wear my most perfect makeup & sunglasses , as well,if I am your blog buddy! HA HA!!Pluus a huge.... BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Yep,"tis" a crazy world we live in Master Jack .. AHUM..I mean Dear Ross!

Now where will you be going for lunch today & with Whom???;-)Make sure you take along your Listerine mouth spray..in case you need to KISS someone for a pixs as well! ;-) Love YOU! JoanE

Lola'Belle. I, for one, appreciated your creative spelling of wibelton!!!! Make it your own gurl! [sic]

sorree whabbear, but I do have a tendancy to spell
fone-et-ick-ly (ha!) while I am werking (on the blog anyway!).

I agree with you on pronouncyations. my ants last name is evert, so i no what 'cha mean there (and in Wa State theres a city of Everett). I had a friend from the east coast that came here for college and she used to say "pug - get sound" instead of puget (pe-u-jet) sound".

=)

oh, and it is time to clip the finger nails! typing is getting more difficult! I totally didn't even notice i was that far off!

I officially withdrawl from the blog buddy spelling bee!

Oh Katie - sorry to hear about your house deal....I was really hoping for you!

Lola Belle....LMAO...@ you and your spelling issues! I have them ALL the time! And believe me - spell check isn't always kind to me!

And Whabbear - Do we now refer to her as Chris Norman???

I'm trying to re-vamp my ipod...

Any suggestions out there

Chriann - can you remind me of those artists we discussed a couple of weeks ago!

ROFLMAO @ Lola'Belle and her "ant" lololol :D

>BCDmom

I watched Richard Simmons on cnn.com this morning. I hope it is on YouTube soon! He has such passion for healthly lifestyles of our children!

jeep, sometimes my spelling so bad spell check doesn't even know what to do with me!

speaking of ipods! ha! we finally decided they aren't a passing fad and to jump into the digital age and purchase a couple ipods! it's fun, but, i am having a little bit of trouble with figuring out how to put my music on my ipod (I got the shuffle) and my sons music on his (spoiled child got the nano). what's funny is I have some rap, r&b, rock, pop etc... my son likes jazz. talk about roll reversal! he wouldn't let me put JT's Bringing Sexy Back on his nano!!!!!

Jeep ~ my suggestion...George Michael...George Michael and did I mention George Michael...don't really know what kind of music you are into...my newest faves are...Adele...Duffy...Eva Cassidy...old faves...Gladys Knight...Barbara Streisand...Judy Garland...Whitney Houston...favorite band ever U2 Baby!!!

Cher - Of course...GM...DUH...why didn't I think of that??? Did you see he is going to be on GMA tomorrow???

I bought Duffy's CD and I like it! I'm checking out your other new faves on itunes now...your old faves sound like Mario's picks! (not that there's anything wrong with them)

Thanks for the ideas!

For JEEPIN o|||o

Brandi Carlile-Have you Ever, Wasted, Fall apart again, Turpentine, (and her hit from Grey's)The Story
Keri Nobel-Piece of my heart

female remakes of dude songs
jonatha brooke -fire and rain (my husband loves this version)
jem-maybe im amazed
Saving Jane - Hang on Sloopy, if you like them also try Girl Next Door, What I didn't Say, & Grace

More POP stuff –
Colbie Caillat (her entire CD!! but beep-bop loves Tailor Made & Bubbly while I'm more partial toward Older, Battle and Magic),
Sara Barilles - Many the miles, Bottle it up, Gravity (if you ever get a chance to see her play live she is amazing and funny - love her

Bisy’s Favs
Joan Armatrading
Sarah Bettens
Trina Meade I can't find her on iTunes

Jeep ~ I know he was on yesterday and today. I saw yesterday's clip on youtube. What are some of your favorite singers/bands?

IMO, that little talky treat right there is proof at just how odd the "being famous" thing is! I mean, Ross & Carnie got just as giddy as anyone would have! Famous or unfamous, everyone is that talky ("Hello Blog Buddies!")was REAL. Neato.

To Whabbear:
OhMyGod! Is the Federer reign over??
I almost cried for him at the Wimbledon final. I am just not a Nadal fan at all.
I sure hope Rog can get it together for the us open and salvage at least 1 slam out of this year. :(

Chriann - checkin' these out again...in fact - at first I didn't love Brandi Carlisle - but I've acquired an ear for her since I first listened...

Cher so far I just created a new playlist from what I have and it includes..Jimmy Buffet (of course), Duffy, Cat Stevens, Loggins and Messina, Kid Rock, Joni Mitchell, Santana, CSN, Elton, Dixie Chicks, Eagles, Alicia Keys, Sting, Arlo Guthrie, Rolling Stones, The Fray, Alicia Keys, Journey, Gwen Stefani, Mama's and Papa's, Queen, Greatful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, and did I mention Jimmy Buffett....lots of oldies

New music I'm liking the "Alternative" (except I'm not really sure I know what that means type of stuff...Just got the Cold Play CD...I likea the rock stuff mostly!

PS
I have been to Wimbledon once, but not during the tourney. Did the whole behind the scenes tour and imagined what it would be like to be there during the finals, especially one like this past match. If you have never been, make it a point to see the AELTC !!

Jeep ~ OMG I LOVE Cat Stevens. I even saw him in concert back in the 70's. One of my all time favorites!
Not a parrot head but I like listening to Jimmy when I'm somewhere tropical. Ever been to his restaurant Cheeseburgers In Paradise? Love the Pina Coladas there.
I am listening to Joni Mitchell as I type this. Her Both Sides Now CD. If you haven't listened to it do so. Fantastic.
Love Fleetwood Mac saw them in concert as well as Journey.
Love Don Henley and Alicia.
Love love love Queen. Freddie Mercury is the best.

Psssst....new talky is up on youtube.

Cher - you'd do just fine with the playlist I just created...named it "summertime"...just something to pop in while doing other stuff or when friends are over.

I can't believe you've seen Cat Stevens...just a little before my time (and I mean a little), but I do love his music. I've seen tons and tons of concerts - when I was inn my teens and 20's..tickets started at like $6.50....Now I have to take out a 2nd mortgage to attend!

I've had Both Sides Now on vinyl, tape and CD - also Blue

Chriann - altho she is totally "pop" I think I'm going to purchase that little Colbie Callait CD - kind of "feel good stuff"...

Thanks, everyone, for pulling for us and for giving me just the right amount of sympathy on our house deal falling through. Twenty months is a long wait to sell a house. Now who knows how much longer it will be? But you know what they say in France! They say "oh well" in French! LOL

Katie, not quite wallowing

i thought you were re-vamping! that sounds exactly like what you already had LOL

Joss Stone, Norah Jones, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Van Morrison, Chicago, Simon Garfunkel and
P E T E R F R A M P T O N

LOL@Lisa! Believe it or not, I did my dissertation research on "pseudohomophones", made-up letter strings like "furst" that don't spell a real English word, but sound like one when you pronounce them!

taprennoc: OMG, I am so jealous! I would LOVE to hang out at the AELTC some day! My parents got to go to Wimbledon in 1982, the last time Evonne Goolagong won. Goolagong was a huge favorite of my mothers, so it was a big thrill for her!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Roger at the US Open, too!

Jeep ~ Yep saw him in concert I think in '73. Was my first concert and a memorable one at that.
I'm talking Both Sides Now Reprise CD where she sings all the love songs of other people but also sings A Case Of You and Both Sides Now.

Hi Chriann!!
I love Chicago too...saw them 1st row at Soldier Field. Love Billy Joel...Scenes From An Italian Restaurant is fantastic.
I think one of my favorite songs ever is Into The Mystic by Van Morrison.

Okay - so you get me!

I'm not good at vamping.."re" or any other kind...

My credit card melted :|

I can go home happy now, I watch the talky before 5PM 2 days in a row.

perhaps i'll even add in a chat evening just for kicks :)

Hi Ross, Great mini-talky! I Love Carnie!! You've made my day.
Love to You and Louise.

Hi Ross, Great Mini-Talky!
I LOVE CARNIE!! Love to you and Louise :)

Oh. Em. Gee. That was SO much fun!! LOL Thanks Ross - you rock.

Two-2-Two Blogs in One!

I kept getting foaded yesterday (lucky me!) so I had to see if it would work today. **keeping fingers crossed**

Jeffrey Peck~ I loved the spelling out of OMG... made me giggle. Thanks!!

Oh. Em. Eff-in. Gee. It worked. Hurray!

I don't know if I was able to post...
