Happy Monday, blog buddies!

As I type this, I’m some where over the Gulf of Mexico on my flight from Miami to Dallas for a quick layover and then another flight back to my mom’s house in Washington State.

My amazing friend Taya is curled up next to me listening to Judy Garland’s 1961 live from Carnegie Hall album (a favorite of mine) on my iPod and I have grown tired of the episodes of Two and a Half Men on the in-flight TV (truth-be-told, though, I love the show and have seen these episodes already).

Okay, so I’m gonna get right to the point – there will be no TALKY BLOG today.

I’m SO SO SO exhausted after my 5 day trip to Miami, I can’t even begin to think about editing one together right now. Seriously.

I spent the last 5 days hosting a show that can, in all honesty, be called… interesting? It wasn’t quite my cup of tea (as my Nana used to say), but I was there to do a job and I did it to the best of my ability. Get it? Got it? Good. :)

Despite work, Taya and I managed to have a FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC time in Miami!!! From gambling in the hotel to meeting new people at bars in Fort Lauderdale to two – count them, TWO! – nights spent hanging out with Rosie and Kelli O’Donnell at their ridiculously unreal house…

And the best part? We filmed a ton of footage for YOU!!!

So keep checking back here in the next few days for lil’ gems from our trip.

On another note…

I can barely believe that today is the final day of 2007, a year that brought such joy and change for me personally and unprecedented growth here at the RossBlog.

I want to thank all of YOU who make the RossBlog a place that I am proud of, a place that keeps me passionate about people and allows me to create everyday.

Happy new year, blog buddies. I can’t wait to tell you what I have in store for you in 2008.

Ross, so glad you got to hang with Ro and Kelli! Can't wait to see the lil gems! :) My New Year's resolution is to find contentment in my life. I just want to find that place where I'm okay with me. I need to lose some weight, for health reasons as well as personal reasons, so this year I'm hoping to FINALLY kick myself in the rear and get going on that ... but if that doesn't happy, I resolve to NOT beat myself up about it .... too much anyway. :)

Safe travels Ross. It sounds like the trip was extremely intriguing and fun. Hanging with Rosie and Kelly, what a lucky guy you are. Taya, how fun for you to have such a GREAT friend.

I have been around Rossland since around 5/21/07 with "Fold it like a Taco". I must say I have never laughed so much in my life. Cracked me up. Since then I have gone back and watched or read every blog. Ross I have stayed around for you and in addition I have blogged with such wonderful and funny blog buddies from all over the world!

Here's hoping everyone has a safe and Happy New Year and that all your wishes and dreams will come true.

My New Years Resolutions this year are simple: Be more outgoing, eat foods that are good for me and become more active in the community.

They aren't hard and i've done them all before but it's something that I've gotten away from doing. Hope everyone has a safe and fun time at any New Year's Eve parties that you may be going to! :o)

Since Austin has gone to Buffalo to see the outdoor NHL game with his dad, I am going to take a little down time and stay at home. I was invited to a party, but after all that has happened this week, I am going to decline. I got myself a lobster and a half bottle of champagne, so I will be celebrating - albeit, quietly.

I don't know if I am home sick or just lonely since my Husband got deployed in July, but you have certainly made me feel better and kept my spirits high.

We were gone from Friday evening until just a little over an hour ago, went to our cottage with my siter and her husband just to get away and I thought I would have all kinds of talky blogs to see but there aren't any new ones, you must have been very busy, can't wait to see the one at Rosie and Kelli's house.
Jodi from Wisconsin, our cottage is in Crivitz, are you anywhere in that area? It's about a 2 hour drive from our house and just a nice place to get away on the weekends though we don't get up there enough.

Ross - you must be tired - you said "The pilot just said we’re about to land, so I have to turn ON this electronic device"

LOL too funny! Well, hope your flight is uneventful and you and Taya are soon home safe and sound.

I am so tired today because we got little sleep last night. Dh received a call from his brother last night that his Dad had died last night. Although it was a terrible thing to happen (car accident/heart attack is believed) I think we are both relieved b/c Dad will be at peace now. He had a rough few/many years and I think he was just done with life - it hadn't really dealt him a nice hand.

And now it is time to deal with dear old Step-mom - she was much younger than him but is in poor health and is a drama queen. It will be hard to deal with her but they were also taking care of their 9 y.o. granddaughter so I don't know what the next step will be. There has always been talk that they wouldn't be able to take care of the granddaughter forever and we would probably take over...wow our lives will be so topsy-turvy the next few months.

Sorry for the long post, I just felt the need to get this all out - and I am extremely tired (no sleep) so I am rambling. :)

I think for this new year I have to resolve to just enjoy life and my friends/family - you never know when you may see them again (if ever). I have a cousin that I grew up with and now we don't talk so I resolve to get in contact with her and stay in contact. It would be great to have that connection again.

Big Plans Tonight. I always look forward to New Years Eve in Aggieland.

First, there is a big shindig at the country club. You know, one of those things were the "Snooty Van Snoots" dance their facelifts off! lol

Its dinner and dancing, actually very nice if you like that sort of thing!

Wanda has a date. With that younger man. The 80 year old. Those 2 are quite smitten. They are cute together.

I will make an appearance to let them see my new hi-lite job, (really more like strings of snot in my hair) my gown and my diamonds and you know there are so many people you do only see once a year at these things.

Then I will be off to the Dixie Chicken on the strip at Texas A&M to see the new year in with my Aggie boys and girls. It is always so much fun! Check it out!

As for a New Year's resolution, I don't do them. Because I would probably never keep them!!

But I do have goals.

I want to get more organized in my life. From putting pictures in albums, to finally shredding all the old paperwork, to rearranging furniture and closets and cupboards!

I really need a professional to come in and help me! Oprah can you hear me????

And I want to work on my procrastination issue. I have so many ideas running through my head sometimes and I want to accomplish it all, and then nothing gets done.

It might have to do with the fact that I am retired (sort-of) and always do "have tomorrow" to finish something.

The problem is things never really do get finished!!!

The important stuff though, does get taken care of. Laurie is always well cared for, I find time to help out my daughters with my grandchildren, and I help out my neighbors and others as much as I can.

So, I guess 2008 for me will mostly be a continuation of 2007, but with a better appreciation of time and values and friendhip and family!

I rarely do new years resolutions the only one I am really going to work on this year is living in the moment more.

I wasn't going to do one but I realized that time or lack of time or killing time etc... has become my task mistress and I am tired of feeling rushed and consumed by it. So more of stopping in the moment and savoring less looking at the clock and rushing.

If that doesn't work I am falling back on Whabbears! LOL

I overdid it yesterday and last night and my fever came back and now I have lost my voice almost completely. It was a really rough night for me. I was so COLD! I hope the rest of your travelling goes well, Ross! To tell the truth, I could not be happier that 2007 is ending. The first half of the year wasn't bad, but the second half has been very trying. I am hoping 2008 allows us to get on our feet financially so that we can enjoy life and not constantly be stressed that out monthly bills will not be paid on time.

I don't do resolutions, but once again this year I'm working on my Mission101 project (you can find more info by Googling it, it's super cool!) So hopefully that will go well.

*DonnaJean2 ~~ I totally relate to both your 'shredding' and 'procrastinating' comments. When I took early retirement in October, I was shredding policy and procedure manuals, e-mails, etc. for at least three weeks. It was such a cathartic experience, though. A tangible purging of all the accumulated data helped clear it from my memory-bank where I really wanted to free up space for new (ad)ventures. And, burning it all gradually in the fireplace..............priceless! On procrastinating: Amazing how easy it is to do when you don't have to cram it all into a weekend out of the office. But, given that..............

I am not into New Year's Resolutions. However, I need one for 2008. It involves an Intervention and perhaps a stint in Rehab for Rossland-addiction. When I naively popped in here some months ago, I had no clue how all-consuming it could become if I let it. Every time I think I'll just check once for new comments, I end up hours later shaking my by-then-stiff neck in disbelief and shame. :o)

And, my "real" friends are being neglected..... Does this happen to anyone else? I'll hear Barry White's sexy voice on my AOL saying "Now, where you been, baby? You've Got Mail." and I'm actually disappointed when it's a "real" friend or family member instead of a BlogBuddy!!! See, I need help...sign me up and bring the paddy-wagon!

Hey Ross! I hope you have a great Happy New Year! My new years resolution is to lose weight and become a stronger person emotionally. I've already gotten a head start I've lost 20lbs. My goal is 100lbs. I have 7 more months b4 my husband comes back so I would like to surprise him with a new me!

Whabbear: I can think of a lot of descriptive words for you, but "uncomplicated" is certainly NOT one of them. Thanks much for bringing the BABBs together. It was a very brave thing to do and I am so glad that I was able to participate. I will always cherish the friendships I made.

Alex 1: I admire how you always have the right song for the right occasion.

Lynn D: I do my best to keep my kids guessing! They each have a little zany streak in them and they wonder where they get it??? Go figure!

Ok, I'm a dillhole, I forgot to say what my resolutions are this year.

I'm turning 30 this year, so its gonna be a good one!! I'm going to Disneyland for my birthday...and hoping to get to Vegas at some point too.

I resolve to be a better person. I want to bring cheer to the sad, provide a listening ear to those who need to talk, and a shoulder to cry on for whoever needs it. I want to change the world, and do what I can to make it a better place. I know it's gonna take more than a year to do that, but I want to get off to a really good start this year. Maybe I'm setting my goals too high, but maybe that's what it'll take. We'll see.

Ross glad you are on your way back to Mom_Ross. I thought the show sounded interesting and when you didnt tell us about it I thought maybe it was something you did because you were laid off. I am sure you did a great job as you always do! Take some time off to relax and rebuild your energy. You have given and given to us all year so a few days without talkys will not kill us! You deserve it handsome talented man that makes us laugh day after day.

New Years resolution is for world peace and anything I can do to help. I have said I am going to wear a tee shirt that says VOTE 08 until the elections. As a country I want to see us make a change.

When I was 21 I made a New Year resolution to get a husband house and start my own business and guess what I got them all that year. ( be careful what you wish for is what it taught me) Since then I only wish for world peace in the New Year.

I'm not one for resolutions, bu I do plan to get even MORE healthy and organized next year. I got on the right track this fall, so I'd like to continue.

NYE is also a great time for reflection for me...lots of great things have happened on this day: Dave and I were married on this day 14 years ago. Three years ago we brought our miracle baby home from the hospital after his stay in the NICU. I'm so blessed to have my guys in my life.

I'm also very blessed to have my Blog Buddy friends, too! I've had such a wild ride! Here's to more laughs and snorts in 2008!

For 2008 my husband and I are going to fight for custody of our 15 month old grandson....our son and his wife have made many bad decisions and her neglect of the baby is one of them.
my stepdaughter is expecting her first child in May and we are so excited for her and her husband. She will be such a great mom! Our youngest daughter is expecting in August! such a busy year for us LOL

However, I have to admit, just between you and me, that I do sometimes think that the friends I've met through the blog are the ones I would have made in real life anyway, if I'd had the opportunity to meet (and select from) all 50 million or so that are the potential pool of Rossbloggers.

With that big a pool to select from, it may not be as strange as it first appears for us to be more strongly drawn to each other than to the friends we've made in "real life".

There's something that binds and connects us here. I don't pretend to know what it is, but I've felt it from the moment I stumbled into this cyber community. Whatever that something is, it's real, and it's powerful.

Happy New Year to all! I'm getting ready to go over to a friend's house to ring in 2008 with her family and some of our other close friends.

I don't have resolutions for this year but I do have some things planned for the year.

As a result of my desire to give back to my community, I am attending a volunteer orientation at the animal shelter so I can start helping out there. Earlier this month I went to an animal rescue workshop and am now an official disaster response volunteer with respect to animals.

I also plan to be better at taking care of myself. I have a dental appointment in January and in February will see a doctor about lady stuff.

In May, we are packing up the pups and taking a road trip to OKC for our niece's wedding. While we're out that way we will go up to Kansas City to visit my stepmother and siblings and down to Texas to visit my son & DIL.

In late October we will fly to the east coast to spend a couple of days in NYC, then board a cruise ship in Bayonne, NJ for a 12-night cruise to celebrate my 50th birthday.

Here's hoping the new year brings everyone some wonderful blessings. I'll interested in seeing who will be the last poster for 2007 and the first for 2008!

I love what you said, because it is SO true! I've been participating in online forums for the past 8 years, and I have made some amazing friends. Many are fellow groomers who I eventually had the pleasure of meeting in person at seminars and trade shows. Our friendships have blossomed into more than just online chatting.

When my dog, Cosette, was going through a 7 year battle with cancer, they were with me through all the highs and lows - cheering when there was good news - providing comfort when there was bad news. Cosette's vet bills totaled close to $25,000 during that 7 year period so when she passed away I was still making payments on the balance owed.

On the day I lost her, I received a beautiful floral arrangement from those friends, which deeply touched my heart. But, when Cosette's University of Missouri statement arrived in the mail, I was stunned! They had also collected contributions that were sent to U of MO to be applied to Cosette's balance.

"Real friends" vs "Cyber friends"? I don't know the difference! :)

I've only been participating on the RossBlog for a few months, but I'm looking forward to "real" friendships continuing to grow in 2008!

We are packing up our house, so will be a very boring NY eve around here.

Plus, I woke up with the flu and a fever, so have been moving in slow motion today, trying to get things organized for our move on Weds. morning.

I want to say thank you to all the nice people here. I cannot believe the outpouring of kindness when my Lilly died last month. It was so touching, and made that very difficult time easier.

There is no way I can name everyone, as I too don't want to leave anyone out.

I also had the opportunity to meet some wonderful, awesome people at Whab's BABB in Sept. Like SacBarb said, he was VERY brave to open his home to a bunch of strangers.

But, we all got along fantastic and had a great time, lots of laughs and fun.

Starting January 1, I will no longer have any good sweet tasty delictable things and that is no cookies, cakes, chocolate, pies, candy (hard of otherwise) until Easter when I'll have a chocolate rabbit. I tried it last year and felt quite good at the end, and at the annual health fair in February, my cholesterol was 187 about. The chocolate rabit at Easter gave me something to look forward to and I think I did OK last year.
Yes - I'm going to tone up this flabby body.

That sounded TOTALLY different than what I meant.
I meant I can understand how they are one and the same.

2007 started off with the store that I worked in closing down (I still don't have a job). I had some health issues also which put me in a depressed state. Didn't want to talk or see anyone. It was just me and my computer.

Even though I don't post everyday I do watch and read the blog everyday and you have all become a part of my life. I would like to think that in some small way I have become a part of yours too. Happy New Year Blog Buddies!!

Whew! In some ways I will be quite relieved that 2007 will be soon heading into the sunset. I quit my job this year to become a fulltime caregiver to my elderly mother who has Alzheimers. Although many days are tough, especially since I do this myself with minimal familial support, I still think I did the right thing. But I had no idea how isolating it would be. And now it's New Year's Eve and friends don't call to invite me to their events anymore because they know I can't go...Makes me sad.

But my main point is that this blog--Ross, all his great pals (especially Louise), and mostly all the buddies' comments have become treasured short respites in my days! I feel so lucky to have found such a place with really wonderful people!

My resolution in the New Year is to NEVER be too busy or distracted that I don't keep coming here. Because this is a special place!!

Hi new late nighters. I am not multi-tasking. I am on my laptop in the living room so I wouldn't be leaving my husband alone tonight by being on the computer in the office (see I told you how sweet I am). He has now changed the blank battery in the very high chirpy smoke detector (he was thrilled to climb a ladder at 12:30 AM with me holding his leg like I could help if he crashed. He has just gone to bed and casually mentioned that maybe I should do the same as I was up very late for some reason last night and then darn if I didn't wake up early today and then we had plans, so....I can't make it even in the jet for breakfast at 10AM today but thanks for the invite JOAN E.

I had a wonderful meal with our friends last night. Had two margaritas promptly came home and fell asleep on the couch! I am such a party animal! LOL

I hope everyone had a wonderful time last night, and behaved yourselves! Well, at least sort of behaved??

Laurie and I got home from my daughter's house from our Crab Feed in time to watch Anderson Cooper with Kathy Griffen before (9:00 PST) and so we saw the Big Crystal Ball Drop on Times Square and heard my favorite song "Imagine" by John Lennon being played! That was awesome!

Then we each had a nice glass of champagne and sparking apple cider, and went to bed!

I am such a Party Animal!!!

Now I am off to go sneak back to bed and watch all the TV shows I have DVR'd and havent had time to watch. Some Boston Legal and Women's Murder Club.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Years Day, enjoy the Rose Parade and all the Bowl Games, and, if you truly do not "feel well" this morning Yahoo had some hangover remedies for you all! Ginger tea, and lots of water! I personally think a nice cold glass of beer works wonders, but lo and behold I am not hungover! Those days are over for me, I hope!

Good morning BB's. I see that a few of you stayed up again all night. I am worn out today so will make this short. I just wanted to come in and say hello!
Here are a few good New Years resolution. Spend more time talking to children and the elderly. Take time for yourself and put yourself first at times. Lastly treat your body with kindness and eat healthy. Tell your best friends and family that you love them today because we don't know if there will be any tomorrows.Lastly adopt a pet. A pet will add so much joy to your life.(I had to throw that one in since I do animal rescue).

ssssshhhhhhhhh.....I will be as quiet as possible on this early morning New Years day. Some with those nasty hangovers or too much partying (heh heh like me!!)
The Mardi Gras masked ball was a blast! Had only 3 drinks only cause they were soooo darned expensive. But I danced with Michael Jackson, can't ask for anything more!
And so, I am up this morning setting my VCR (yep still have mine) to record the Rose Parade. I hope you all had a great and safe 2008 New Years.

Cant wait to see Ross's talky from Rosie's house. Will you all hate me if I tell you I never really liked Rosie. I always found her point of view interesting and she really can make you think but I just never liked her way of getting her point across. It was always like "I know I'm right I'll never consider your point of niew and your an idiot if you dont agree with me" But if people who dont agree with her stick to their beliefs then she should respect that and she doesnt she just calls them names and puts them down.
I just think Ross is so kind and excepting and I found he and Rosie to be kindof opposites????

Also, you're a Johnny Depp fan? Mildly amusing story-- a very good friend of mine is his aunt by marriage. When huz and I were going to Paris, said friend wanted to email Johnny and ask him to please have dinner with us there. I freaked and said no (thank you)!! I'm pretty sure Johnny's idea of a good time doesn't include having dinner with a fat housewife from New Jersey!!! LOL (And yes, I know I'm a lot more than that!) I'm good, though. I had a photo of Lily Rose a long time before the press had any but I was a good girl and kept it to myself.

CYNDI IN PA: I for one don't hate you for your opinion of Rosie. Actually, you are correct, in my opinion. I respect her for doing so much for others and I love her children and Kelli. I actually met her a year ago at a military function and she was most gracious and loving towards the soldiers and their family members. I thought she looked beautiful. But, she is definitely opinionated and doesn't seem willing to look at the other side of the picture. Of course, this is just my opinion.

In case anyone doesn't know, Rosie O’Donnell was Ross' original main inspiration to go into show business, because he watched The Rosie O’Donnell Show as a child, and the day Ross met Rosie, he told her this, and that his dream is to be a talk show host like her. I think the reason that some people don't particularly respond to her or open dislike her is that we are not used to having a gay, overweight, intelligent, funny, self-deprecating, outspoken person as a role model. But stop and think -- doesn't that describe Ross as well? Perhaps he is not as outspoken on politics, but he is much younger than Rosie, and at Ross' age, Rosie wasn't as outspoken on politics either. Her political awakening came when Columbine happened, and she tried very hard after that to make social change happen on gun control, which didn’t pan out that well in terms of results.

I think more of us need to take a page from Rosie's book and give our opinions, loudly, often, and attempt to be even a fraction as charitable as she is!

Our system of government allows for free speech, but when people exercise it, our thin skins make us sensitive to opposing views. What's wrong with Americans is that they don't speak up often enough, not that they speak up too much. American women, especially. We could all start by writing our congressmen, not just complaining about the state of the union, or criticizing those who are outspoken on our country and the direction it has taken. In 2008, I hope to work harder for social change than I did in 2007.

I'm saying here, instead of bemoaning Rosie’s views, or her manner in giving them, let's be more like Rosie!!!!! But this is just my own opinion, get it? I'm open to hearing others' views on this. Feel free to respond. It is just one person's opinion -- and feel free to speak up whether you agree or disagree! Have an opinion! Don't be afraid of offending me! There is a way to conduct social discourse that is not bashing, but it constructive and that honors one own’s integrity.

I admire Ross for his integrity and wit, and I believe he is a role model also. I only found Ross’s blog from Rosie’s blog, because I had not watched Jay Leno and seen Ross there until I found Ross’ blog. I now tune in to Jay to see Ross! But the Ross blog rules!

Its cold here in chicago too. It snowed last night. Not that bad though. Just can't wait til summmer is here again.

Wow, my sister just had time to e-mail me and tell me how her New Year's Eve went. She works as an AT&T operator so New Year's Eve can be very interesting to say the least. She told me that she is exhausted from all of the emergency calls. There was a lot of fires due to people not obeying the no fireworks in city limits.I don't know how so many people get past the police check points and why they would risk the $2000 fines per firework? Secondly there were many wrecks being reported to her as the evening progressed. I witnessed a 4 car pile up myself.It was a bunch of young boys already to drunk to be on the roads at 9:45 that caused it on the freeway. Lastly she had so many suicide calls that the suicide hotlines were jammed so she was having to trace the calls herself.
Hmmm, I guess there were firecrackers left over from last night. I hear them blasting again. My Pekingese is afraid of the sounds. Poor fur baby.
I was hoping that Ross would post some video today. I imagine he is really exhausted. To my knowledge Jay Leno is going back on the air tomorrow night with or without writers.I support the writers as Ross does but I am glad that people will have their jobs back.

When I got up this morning, with NO hangover (a benefit, I suppose of a non-existent social life), it was sunny, clear and cold. Beautiful view of snow-covered Mount Rainier off our deck to the south. Looked like a giant marshmallow. Took a photo and it turned out pretty well. I'm not sure if I'm really looking forward to the New Year or if I'm just thankful that 2007 is over. Probably a little of both. This afternoon I'll make a yummy (and healthy) pot of leftover turkey soup with lots of veggies. Might even have to watch a Bowl Game or two although I'm not much into college football.

Please understand. desertgirl...I do not agree with rosie but I said she is very interesting and has often made me stop and think. What I also said is she has never (in all the time Ive followed her) stopped and listened to someone else and their opinion if she disagreed with them. She just talks over them and degrades them. I do like her really.
And as for the two words you used, gay and overweight, I never mentioned either and that never crossed my mind.

thank you for responding to my post. i was not saying that you were prejudiced, but i can see how my words could have been taken that way. rosie responds in her blog on an almost daily basis for over a year (i've read all the posts there), including to those that disagree with her, and to me these responses are not degrading at all -- sometimes dismissive, sometimes funny, and sometimes she jabs back if the criticism is harsh toward her. she is the only celebrity that interacts in this way with the public this frequently, often with her heart on her sleeve.

my post earlier today was just trying to examine why many people dislike her -- not why you do. i'm sorry what i was saying was misinterpreted. it is difficult to talk about rosie to those who don't agree with her opinions -- because people have made up their mind about her, and it's become pop culture to bash her -- i was just trying to examine why this is. i stand by my comments about why people in general (not you) unconsciously are threatened by her.
