Happy Labor Day, blog buddies!

It's time to stash away your white shoes and grab your charcoal for what I imagine are literally millions of BBQ's across the country. I'm BBQ'ing, too!

In fact, I'm running around like a crazy person chopping veggies and marinating chicken and cleaning house in a rush before my 15-20 guests arrive in just about an hour or so!

AHHH!!!

Since I'm in such a rush and since it's still kinda the weekend, today we're gonna have another TOPIC OF THE DAY instead of a regular weekday blog entry.

Happy Labor Day Monday! I spent my Labor day by getting my hair cut then I'm having a few people over for a cookout in about an hour. It promises to be a lot of fun and I can't wait! :o)

had to work.. work at a hospital and they don't close!! now i'm just at home chillin for the rest of the day :). have fun!

Hi Ross and Blog Buddies!! This is the first time I've posted but I've been lurking around for a while now. Love ya Ross. Your blog is the best ever. You are such a cutie pie. Your blog is always lighthearted and fun and never ever boring. My Labor Day was spent working the first part of the day but then just playing with my son outside after. Have a great bar-b-que!!! Can almost smell the chicken!!

I am recovering from two days at the Fair, having my grandchildren here for a sleep-over and monitoring my youngest dog. She got into the rib bones and I am waiting to hear other stories of small dogs surviving this (hopefully). I don't want to hear stories of their dogs 'not making it'. I am paranoid as it is.

We're harvesting apples, so no Labor Day off for us... have to get the fruit off the trees!!! So I spent the day (sore neck and all) on the seat of a tractor. BUT... my son is home right now and he's fixing tacos for dinner tonight, so I don't have to cook!!

Wish I had BBQ, but... oh well. It'd only get used a couple times a year if I did.

Just staying out of the sun and watching the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon like I do every year.

Watched TV, drove my daughter and her friend to the movie theatre (Hairspray), went to visit a friend, sat down to watch the end of the MDA Telethon and write up a break schedule for work tomorrow.

Ross, I hope you and all the bloggers have a great extra day off. It was just a normal day for me - cleaning the house, taking a nap, preparing peaches for the freezer. My aunt stopped by with some books for me to read and we visited while my uncle fixed my shower head (it was spraying everywhere!) They're kind of my landlords, so they get to do all of that stuff.

Tomorrow I start work at my first job after college. A real grown-up job with a desk. Alas, I do not get to make talky blogs like you, Ross!

I know how you feel, getting ready for a party can be quite stressful!!!! All my kids were born in different months, factor in the holidays and it seems like I'm always having parties!! (I don't mind really, I enjoy the company.)

Today I am cleaning the basement, which happens to be the kids playroom. I am throwing away the broken toys and making a donation pile for the toys they have lost interest in. I am putting my foot down, once it hits one of the piles, that's it, they can't "reclaim" it!!!!!

Back to work for me, some Labor Day!!!!LOL

Hey Ross and Blogbuddies. My hubby had to work this afternoon until 10 tonite at the airport working security, so we didn't get to do the Labor Day BBQ. Ate a peanut butter sandwich, and a glass of tea. Oh well maybe next year.

Last night we did a little BBQing with our kids.

Today I am working in my home office like I do every day and night. (we are self employed) We also took down our small above ground pool. It is a 3,300 gal. and about 4 1/2 ft. deep. It worked perfect for our 11yr old and her friends. It is 96 degrees today but cooler weather will be here soon.

I understand how you feel. I took my daughter to college two weeks ago and she came home for the weekend for the first time. I won't see her again until October 2-5.

I feel like a huge piece of me is missing too. We were "connected at the hip" and it has been very hard for me. Plus, she is my last one of three so the house truly is an empty nest all day now. My oldest (22) lives at home, but we rarely see him. He comes in after we sleep and goes to school after we go to work.

Anyway, I just can relate so much and here is a BIG HUG from one empty nester to another! Happy Labor Day !!

I woke up before the sun and looked up and saw the stars shining so brightly in the sky.
I was camped in this beautiful meadow with Mt. Adams staring right at me. I had danced till late at the concert and dance. Everyone was a little groggy. One friend wandered the field in search of coffee. I heated up some water for a hot shower and hung out with the hippies as they got out of bed. It was better than the Grateful Dead. I'll spend next Labor Day there too....

Delores Crump - I have Fibromyalgia too with Rheumatoid arthritis. I spend most of my day in bed too! I also don't have friends that come over because it is so painful to visit. It's hard enough to visit with my Mom... I can't believe that I found someone else who has a life like me!!

Getting together with family to FINALLY celebrate my 21st!! Which was the 5th of August...:) Chicken, Salad and CAKE - chocolate with almond frosting!!!

Sandy and Beverly: I'm in the same boat as both of you. Drove my youngest off to college two weeks ago. She's called me every night and we talk a good hour. It's so nice to have conversations with her, and I can tell she misses me. She never talked to me much at home, and she is especially not one to talk on the phone with people. It may not last forever (the daily phone calls), but I'm going to treasure them while they last.

The funny part of her leaving was her concern for her father. I drove to her college for the day and left that evening. He wanted to spend the night and do things with her the next day. She called me the night he left and asked, "Is Dad okay? When it came time to say goodby to me he hugged me, and wouldn't let me go. His voice was all shaky. I think he was crying, but he had sunglasses on." He took it harder than me last year, too, when we took my oldest daughter to college.

Anyway, I'm enjoying fanning the flame on my relationship with my husband now that they're gone. We've had quite a fun week!

Hey BB's - Been a busy Holiday here at our house. We have cooked out on the grill every night since Thursday.

Steak k-bobs with fresh veggies - Jerk Pork Roast - BBQ Chicken - Cedar Plank Salmon and on and on.... With lots of Cocktails to wash all that goodness down with too!

Today we have been working in the garden, fertilizing, trimming - Worked on the Koi pond... Now tired... but looking forward to Justin Timberlake's Concert tonight on HBO.

GiGi in Mn - Our fair in Victoria is the oldest Agricultural Fair west of Toronto. It is 140 years old. I have been going every year since I was 5. It hasn't changed much. Competitions for fruits, jams, sewing, animals, art work etc. . Even children as young as 3 enter. My kids and grandkids always win a lot but this year my 12 year old won 'best in show' for the cabbage he grew (which is a large rosette as well as a lst ribbon) and my daughter did the same with her apricot jam. They were both thrilled. There are a lot of rides and games and lots of food as well. We always have a good time and it seems to put a nice 'bookmark' at the end of summer. What was your fair like?

Ross sorry I wasn't home when you called me for the BBQ invite. :(

Today's my pops birthday, so we had a birthday bbq! The weather was a good 85 and low humidity! It's been HOT here in nc! And, sorry, I don't think Ross looks like Liberace. Have a great day bb's!!!

Kids---grandkids all were here yesterday. We did steak and chicken kabobs--baked beans-spinach & artichoke dip,all sorts of good stuff and Babycakes cupcakes for dessert---YUM---Than we all played boad games and laughed till about 3 this morning----Today---we rest!! OH yea--large amounts of alcohol were comsumed too!!!

I'm home! I sweltered in Burbank for 2 days and 2 nights and it's in the 70's in Fort Worth (and it rained after I got home!). Ross, I'm glad your temps are finally going to get in the 80's this week (and upper 60's at night). I think I have to go back the 12th so my daughter can get her apt mgr to get an a/c repairman in.. We pretend her 2 chihuahuas are mine and we are just visiting. lol

Tink, I hope your dog's okay. Since mine are 4-5 pounds, they do get bones because they don't break off splinters and chunks. The worst was a chihuahua years ago who got a huge hambone. He scraped on that thing all night long with his teeth and had terrible diarrhea for a day or two but was fine.

My new teensy, itty, bitty puppy - 10 weeks and 13 ounces of him - named Albondigas (Mexican meat ball), Bondi for short, spent the weekend with my Texas daughter. We've been giving him plain yogurt and it seems to be helping his loose poops. He went to the vet last week, and he's eating boiled chicken/rice. Keeping the other 4 out of his food isn't easy, either.

We grilled steaks Saturday and beef fajitas yesterday. I bring the seasoned Mexican butcher meat frozen.

Hair: I have a long ponytail pulled back. Easy, fast. But I have been thinking about cutting it for over a year. I love Paris Hilton's short hair and am thinking about it. Then I think about growing it out again and I'll probably not cut it.

Somehow Ross, I can't picture your place being a mess to clean in the first place! But, I know all too well what the panic is like just before the guests arrive! Didn't get to grill or anything. Had to work all three weekend days. Ho hum. Yes, those of us that had to work need a pity party!

Ross! I hope you guys had a great party! I spent Labor Day with my husband's family. We drank a lot, ate a lot, played golf (men played Saturday, women played today) and just enjoyed each other and our children!

I have been reading this week-ends' comments and todays are a little different from yesterday. There are still some celebrating but for others there seems to be that slight feeling of nostalgia or sadness that summer is ending. The mood shows in the comments.

Bebbilane - I identify with your feeling of loss with your daughter leaving for school. I have been there and it hurts.

luvagi - Your posting made me cry. It brought back memories of holding back the tears. Just remember, they do come back.

Delores and Dawn F. - My brother-in-law suffers from fibromyalgia and had to leave teaching early because of it. The frustrating thing is that the doctors don't seem to be able to do anything about it. I feel badly for both of you.

smikette - I hope your migraine is gone.

Dawn - the same goes for your fever.

Bettyanne - I think you have what I have - the end of summer 'blues'. It always takes a while for me to feel happy again. It's usually the bright coloured leaves that do it.

Well, this weekend has been really, really slow for me. I think the most exciting thing I did was the laundry! :) It's raining here today, so I stayed inside.

I just got out of bed. Felt ok this morning then around noon I was freezing and couldn't stop shivering. Terrible headache. Went to bed and am not cold anymore but headache is still here. I should eat something...soup maybe. That's how I spent my day. Night all.

I spent Labor Day having my 30 seconds of fame on a local TV station in Michigan. I am luck enough to present the check and amount of money my company raises for MDA each year. We donated a Whopping...22,657 dollars this year. It's such a great feeling knowing you are helping others and the joy it will bring so many in need.
Now it's off to dinner with friends.

I hope that Ross's BBQ wasn't too hot, the first thing I heard about on the news this morning was how hot LA was supposed to be and there may be blackouts.

i worked today. complete waste of time...we were only open for 3 hours! i did manage to do some shopping this afternoon. it was another hot day in orlando today. the sun is going down so it's cooling off, but now its getting ready to storm. nothing planned tonight. i'll probably catch up on my long list of shows on DVR and go to sleep early....no work tomorrow so i can sleep in!!!

I spent my day PUTTING AWAY MY WHITES (it cracked me up when you wrote that)! Our moms taught us well. White shoes/skirts/pants after Labor Day? Absolutely SINFUL.

I put away all my summer clothes and hung up my winter clothes (after a lil' shopping for new clothes- weeeeee!). Before putting away the summer stuff, I separated out the stuff I haven't worn this season to give away. I do that every season, because why bother packing it if I'm not going to wear it, right?

I have two poms, they get pork bones occasionaly and they are fine. They do tend to get them caught in their throats though and hack a bit. I HATE it when they get them, but they have survived every time.

My son in Iraq emailed that the president got a very warm welcome from the troops today. I heard the same thing on the news. My son says they can see things getting better and want to stay until they see stabilization. He says they're making a difference and he's proud of the job they're doing.

Buffalo steaks on the grill! Beat that! Yum. Played with Lab at lake all morning. Everone's tuckered out.

The three of us went out to Lake Michigan today for a picnic lunch and to play in the waves. The weather was perfect. Aidan had a blast! So did Mom & Dad! I kept thinking "It doesn't get much better than this..." It really bugs me that we live so close to such a beautiful lake and we never seem to make it out there...it took a measly 45 minutes to get there and get unpacked - and now summer is over. :: sigh ::

Be grateful he even bothers to check in at all on weekends and holidays -- he doesn't have to. (and if people keep complaining about it, he can always stop doing it anytime he wants to). Let's be grateful for what we have. :)

Hope you're all enjoying your BBQ's, they sound yummy.
Today I've been doin' a whole lot of nothing, thank you : ) Hubby's at work till close (retail management) and I have a rare day off. Mostly I've been hanging out with my pals on Pogo.com, playing games...

Ross- I spent my morning shopping for a good boogie board. Then I went to the beach and caught some knarly waves. OMG I so wanted to yell Surfs up dude!! I saw a guy catch his first wave. I love seeing that glow on their face.

Tonight I have to do some work on my boss's computer.... YUCK!

Beetlebabe is a Retailbabe. I worked Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. Today we had a couple of busloads of British tourists enjoying our "lovely store". They were really all quite lovely and so sweet and polite to the employees. Unlike some of the locals.

today my hubby (hes a fireman) had to work and it is the last day of summer vacation(tomorrow school starts)so our son Ben and I went down to the Dana Point Harbor and rented a surry (covered peddlecar bikey thingy) and rode all around Dohney State beach... it was hotter than a pistol.. but tooo much fun.. Ben is 10 (and I had him at 44)but it was a blast.. the kid keeps me young!!!!now were waiting for pizza to be delivered...yummm cheese and artichok(sorry spelling) . have a safe one...everyone... Hi all!
Well today went to the dog park with my parents. My Daddy is 91 and my Mommy is 84. I still call them that too. Especially when i am sick or not feeling well. Then we picked up my daughter and had lunch out.
Afterwards my Lilly and I came home and slept because tonight she is filming her movie!!!

Yep today is the day from 8pm to God knows when!!! Then tomorrow night as well. If anyone is interested go to www.trueadolescents.com.

I spen today resting up for the big day tomorrow. I work as a kindergarten teacher assistant. We have 2 classes of 25 showing up tomorrow. Most will be fine. But we can count on at least 1 or 2 criers in each class. They are usually just sad but I have had one swing at me with a closed fist! He's in 4th grade now and seems like a very unhappy/angry boy - who knew? I sure did!!;)

The most important is getting them all back where they belong @ the end of the day. Things will calm down by the end of the week and I'll have the weekend to rest up! Wish me luck!

Well I've been spending the day sitting on the couch watching game show network, with my boyfriend, eating ice cream, still recovering from surgery!!

even though i had to work today, i went in a little late because my mom, dad, and i all went to get puppies!
we just lost our female to cancer in july, and our male was lost without her...so we finally decided to take the plunge and get a puppy. well, one led to two, now we all have one, haha!

luvagi and Tinkatia... and EVERYONE ELSE who talked of their experiences. Kyle is my 2nd son to go off to college. My oldest...is out by Mikey which is 2000 miles away. It was very difficult leaving him, but yet, it was comforting as we have family there.

With Kyle, he's been a loner, very quiet, so I worry about him more. I think he picked the best college for him. They have him busy for the entire semester!!

He came home safe...
His friends are the ones out patrolling, afraid that every building they go into may be booby trapped.

chatterbug - I went to the J.C fair every year when I was a kid. I loved the hot dogs there. It always ended with the crowning of our May Queen and then the Victoria Day parade. luvagi - Thank you for the compliment. Being a grandmother has been the most fun of my life. It's too bad we are so busy when we have little kids because we don't have time to enjoy them the way we do when we are grandparents.
You make me feel better about my Christmas decorating. I start after Halloween. (Our Thanksgiving is in Oct.). I decorate every room. My friends think it's great and they always come over to see my decorations but I think my family sees it differently especially my son-in-law. He does not think there should be any decorations anywhere until Dec. l. Now I love my son-in-law dearly but we disagree on that point. I bet we get comments from the bloggers that they agree with him.

Happy Labor day everybody! Glad to hear that the majority of folk had a good day! We don't get to have Labor Day where I live so my daughter started her first day of kindergarten. I tried to be brave, but there was another kid screaming at the door. I choked up...but no tears! Thankfully class gets out at noon and she had a wonderful day...didn't want to come home! Other than that, we spent the day relaxing and visiting friends in town.

... so here's an (hopefully) interesting empty nest story:

My friend Sue, who I've known since we were undergrads at Queens (aka the Canadian winter camp for overpriveleged children), has triplets (she lives in Markham, near Toronto). Well, Sue's hubby is also a Queen's grad, so naturally, like all well-adjusted brainwashed offspring of Queen's grads, all three (two girls, one boy) headed off to Kingston last year to carry on the Queen's tradition.

But guess what? All three have transferred to U of T (Scarborough College), as close to Markham as you can get!

So take heart, empty nesters... sometimes, they DO come home again! And in triplicate!

Hmmm... can you tell I'm on my second LayBear Day screwdriver? :)

we took all the kids to miniature golf, to ride the go carts and bumper boats. they had lots of fun we also went out to eat chinese food no bbq here. we bbq every weekend we needed a break from bbq. all in all i am glad we took that break. hugs everyone!

What did I do with my day.....

I slept in and got up and ate my fiber bar. Then I called my mom next door and had her send the kids over. They had spent the night there with one of our "weekend neighbors" kids. They live a little over an hour away in Lexington and they come here on the weekends and holidays to get away from the rat race. They have six kids, twin girls in 7th grade, triplet boys in the 6th grade and a singleton in the 5th grade. They all go to the same private school together. Any how the middle of the triplets spent the night. So the kids loved having their first sleep over guest even if it was nextdoor at grandma's. The kids came home and we went to the beach. We saw several sailboats and had a good time swimming. Then we came home and I did more laundry fixed a quick supper. Got everyones bath. Got the clothes out and put in the place where I keep them. I went to the home store (Lowe's) and in the closet organizers bought each kid two cubical type things that when stacked makes five compartments with an extra one on the bottom. I made labels on the computer, monday thru friday and every night before the school week starts I put their clothes for the whole in it and their shoes in the bottom one. So every morning there is no question or problems on what is to be worn. No questions asked, get it and get it on cause we are out the door. Tomarrow is the first day of school and my baby will be in kindergarten and my oldest is in the 4th grade. I also have lunches already made and the car is loaded with the school supplies and backpacks are packed. I am done and ready to go. Sorry for any mispellings or errors but I don't have time for proofreading. Simply because I am a............

Amicus - Boy did your posting ever jump back! I have read them all and scrolling back through them I see many I had not read before because some have been 'popped in' out of place. If I have to start reading all the postings twice to make sure I have read them all I will be here all day. It takes a long time to read them once. Anyway I was waiting for your response to my Tia's naughtiness. I was hoping you would say that it has happened before without a fatality. Others have reassured me too but you have so much to do with dogs I waited for your opinion . So I will keep hoping and praying for the next two days that I have not made the mistake of my life.

We spent most of our day at the Firemens Carnival! My son in law is a firemen, and they have water battles with the other fire companys around our area, And my Son-in-laws company won again this year, the it was off to put grandkids on some rides and then home for Steaks and corn on the cob cooked on the grill! It was so good!

Hi Everyone. Just popped in for a little while as I haven't been home.

I spent my Labor Day at the funeral home. My father-in-law died Tuesday. Tomorrow is the funeral home.

Daughter having a hard time dealing with this (has Tourette Syndrome and other disorders as does her father, so things are different for them). Paul (husband) is kinda numb at times - he didn't expect this. I'm staying at his side so if he needs me, I am right here for him.

We were there when he left this world and went into the next. So hard to deal with.

Now I'll read the posts to see how everyone else is doing.

Today I did what most peeps with Fibro, CFS, MCS, did... I tried to get out from under the pain. I am winding down from a month of Pancreatitis so I am still on the weak side.

But... the good news is, before the summer I splurged on some lovely high end Quilt Fabric and today to distract from the pain, I managed to cut some of the fabric for my next quilt.

Beautiful weather, in the 50's. Nice breeze in the air. Won't be long before we see some snow.

My two 4-legged kids and I piled into the xB with hubby and off we went to Starbucks. After DH enjoyed his misto and I my chai tea latte and a pumpkin scone for each of us (I love the fall flavors at Starbucks!) we headed to the dog park to let our babies play for a little while.

Went home, dropped the pups off to take a nap and went to see Ratatouille - a very cute movie, BTW.

This evening we joined friends for Greek food at a great restaurant in San Mateo.

Traditionally we bbq this time of year but grill is not working (parts on order) and house has been busy with 21-year-old son's friends all weekend ... it was good to be out with the "grown-ups" tonight!

I made green beans with potatoes and ham in the crockpot, sliced cucumbers and onions with Ranch dressing, macaroni salad, doctored up baked beans, grilled BBQ chicken, baked chicken, brownies and pink lemonade. No picnic, really, but I wanted it to feel that way. Hubby had to work afternoon turn, so I wanted his meal before work and his packed lunch to feel like a holiday. I just chilled on a raft in the pool until a phone call from my daughter's boyfriend that she had cut herself and may need stitches. After checking the wound and determining that butterflies would take care of it, I dragged out all the food for them and they agreed to stick around. So ... I ended up not having to be lonely on Labor Day after all. It was a pretty nice day, even though they napped on the couch for a large part of it. I wasn't actually "alone." Hope everyone else had a great day as well. It's back to the grind tomorrow. At least I got some sun this weekend.

I didn't get to bbq. :( I had to work. Hope it was tasty!

Hi Ross, Taya, and BB's! I hope you all had a great holiday. I didn't do much of anything. We don't have any family close and my husband had to work so I spent the day watching old movies. We have been really busy so a relaxing day was nice.

my Labor day was pretty boring.. i swam for awhile with neices and nephews...( we had planned on going to Six Flags, Nephew works for the company... but we saw the lines and decided to go back and swim in our our own pool and save money on food! we stopped at the G.Store and stocked up on sodas, chips and goodies.. My Bro in law got in the mood and decided to grill steaks and hamburgers so we had fun. we all celebrated my neices 1st birthday.... i think she just liked the wrapping paper more than the gifts..lol

Happy Labor day Ross, Taya and all the blog buddies! I have been reading the blog for about a little over a month now and thought it was about time to leave a comment. I spent my Labor day packing up my house because I am moving two and a half hours east of where I am living now tomorrow. We will be having a belated themed BBQ next weekend to make up for lack of BBQ today. Take care all!

WOW, another Labor Day behind us. It was a lot of fun. Our cul de sac all gets together in the middle and the families have a giant potluck meal. I made a huge Caesar salad and the yummiest lemon cake!! We grilled all kinds of meat and all the parents sat around and talked with drinks in our hands ;^) while the kids ran around and played. We had perfect weather and it just doesn't seem possible that tomorrow is a school night! After the sun set, we pulled out the firepit and roasted marshmallows (no peeps!) and chatted some more.

Tomorrow we get to go "Meet the teachers" and find a way to enjoy our last day of summer vacation.

Then next time the hubby wants to go for a hike in the mountains, will someone remind me that it can only mean one thing: UP ALL THE WAY!!!!! (AmyP~ I'm ready to start walking now!) It took for-freaking-ever to get to the lake (our destination). He said it was only a 2 1/2 mile hike. He left out the part where we had to climb 2700 ft~ Wait...it gets better....I just googled Lake Blanche....it's 3.3 miles each way! He "stretched the truth!" I am so stinkin' outta shape. All three kids had to keep stopping to wait for me! I will admit...the lake was beautiful, peaceful, and yes, even worth it. Whabby...make me a screwdriver~ please~

Thank you Bellesmomma - he really is tiny! I worry about the big dogs stepping on him (they weigh between 4 and 5 lbs). And me, of course, because he follows me everywhere, he's dark, the carpet's dark green, and he doesn't show up well.

The plain yogurt seems to have helped his little system even out. He's definitely more active, although at 10 weeks he's still taking lots of naps.

He has a harem and doesn't know it. lol I'll get pix of the girls up today, too. It wasn't so hard.

Bellesmomma - Belle is gorgeous! And I love your Frenchie. If I were going to get a "big" dog, that's probably what I would want. My last "big" dog was a Brussels Griffon. She died of breast cancer a couple years ago, very sad. Fortunately I'd gotten Cocoa Puff, my oldest chi, when I knew she was terminal, so I did have a furbaby to love on when she died.

Gotta love all our babies, 2 and 4-legged.

Dianne/Denver: It's an Indian dish made with tomatoes, cream, indian spices etc. My son was at a cottage all weekend and I knew he would have missed some ethnic food, so I made it.

I hate to be a downer, but labor day is my least favorite holiday. Just when I get my kids back in school, here they are home again. I love them, but geeze, go to school. Labor day is like every other day around here. Not too much fuss, good food, dvds, relax!!

I spent the day catching up on the talky blogs I have missed. Then I had some quiet time with the Food Network.

I got pregnant on Labor Day 23 years ago. I had an 18 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter and all I could do was cry because I couldn't do puberty again - and I was 38. She was due on Memorial Day but was a little early. There's a picture of her holding Bondi on Myspace (Lindina2).

10 years later I had another baby. He is now 12, and I need to get his pictures on Myspace, too. He lives with his dad and stepmom 60 miles west of Las Vegas.

My kids are 40, 38, 22 and 12. The oldest 2 are in Burbank with my 4 grandkids (16/15 and 15 mos twins).

I have adopted the family next door. They are hispanic, speak no English and I speak very little Spanish. I took them to register Lesli for bi-lingual pre-k last Monday, and I cried. It was like one of my own starting school. She's loving it. School here and my son's school in Nevada all started last Monday.

I can't wait for more package opening, Ross! It's soooo fun! And we want to hear how your bbq turned out, too!

I work at an amusement park, and I thought it would be a nice treat to bring my siblings there for free. We went on a few rides, and on the fourth ride of the day I had to set my bag on the side because loose articles are not permitted on the ride. So we went on the ride and when we got back...my bag was GONE!!! and so was every other bag that was left there too. We spent the rest of the day looking in garbage cans because the security guards said the perps would just take the cash and toss the rest. An employee did find my bag in the garbage, along with 3 other bags. My siblings had put all of their stuff in my bag so they stupid thieves got a away with a digital camera, $200 in cash, and my cell phone...=( but they left two other cell phones, my brother's wallet, and his car keys (thanks god). They also took one set of sunglasses and my sister's tampons. How messed up is that?!?!

Good Morning all and especially, SacBarb, Linda in squamish, grandma moses, Joan E, Tina-in-ut, Linda in Fort Worth, Bebbilane, dawn-n-croc, Amicus and anyone I missed who helped reassure me yesterday about my little one eating bones. We got through the 24 hours with enough evidence (no details needed) to assure me that there is 99% chance that I can put the issue behind me. Thank you for your reassuring messages. I really needed them because I thought we were going to become a statistic. I would have worried so much more without your stories. I feel a little guilty because with all the pain and suffering in this world my problem was so little but it was so big to me. I have always been so careful, almost neurotic but accidents can still happen. At my age I am still learning lessons.

Hi Ross, Hi everyone!

Hoping everyone had a great weekend. We took our three kids to a rented cabin on a lake for the weekend. It was fun, but there were a LOT of bugs (flies, bees and mosquitos) to contend with. We got home yesterday and then today the children started back to school.

I can now breathe a HUGE sigh of relief, as one of our girls has severe medical issues. This same time last year, she had another "episode" and ended up hospitalized from Labor Day weekend until October. Then was home-schooled to let her immune system build back up. Then, just before Christmas, she was hospitalized again not to be released until the end of January...in the end, she did not get to go to 2nd grade until APRIL! So, it was bitter-sweet to put her on the bus this morning!

Now my house is quiet, and I am not quite sure what to do with myself.........I decided to get caught up on Ross, Taya and all the blog-buddies! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Hoping for a funny talky blog today, because I feel like I need one!

To all you mom's who are having a hard time with the first day of school, I feel for you. It will get better, and, really, it's interesting to see them start a new phase in life. The leaving home syndrome is a tough one.

Two years ago, my oldest son was moving to college (he'd gone to college around here and lived at home for 2 years) to finish up, and my next oldest daughter was also leaving for college. My FIL had been very very sick for 7 months and in the hospital. Well on Friday, Aug. 19 he passed away (2 yrs ago that is). Then the very next day, my son moved 2 1/2 hours away for school. Then the following Sat. my daughter moved---honest to God, I thought that I was going to keel over right there and lose it. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, to just leave her there, with having just had a son move and my FIL pass away.

But guess what??? Now it's 2 years later, all is well, they come home periodically, and it's actually nice to have them go again. This summer, my daughter was home, and when school started for her a couple of weeks ago, we were both actually ready for her to go. She's outgrown home, and she doesn't like my rules!!!!

My 12 year old was nervous but was ok I'm leaving here in 1/2 hour to pick him up he does take the bus to school but I pick him up he does not like to take the bus home hes adhd and hes coming off his meds so I save a lot of stress for the both of us and pick him up. My 5th grader did good was excited because hes in the top grade at school Mr. Show Off. HA next year back to little man 6th grade middle school. Then my 1st grader was sooo excited he was up at 6:00 am didn't have to get up until 7:15 am but couldn't wait. Again thanks for asking. Now I can't wait till they come home and find out everything. At least I'll give my 12 year old the one on one in the car. That will be nice can't wait.

That woman had several people's personal emails, mine included, as alot of us received that phony "bulk" email from the hospital. I personally have more than one email, one for only close friends, family, and certain business info. That one I do not use for anything else, nor do I share it with others.
Try that. It might work.

Nuff said on that woman. Come on, let's GET OVER IT and MOVE ON!!!

Has this happened to you more then once? A couple of months ago I sent a question to Ro and double clicked the submit (whatever, hit post more then once by mistake) it came up that I had already asked a question. Maybe that happened to you too...try tomorrow and see what happens before you rearrange your life...it could be human error. It might be good to change your password though, just in case...so no one can get into your mailbox.

Might also cc your address book to let them know you are currently having problems with your email and ask them to notify you if they recieve any odd email from you.

I just emailed 2 questions to Rosie, using 2 different emails and they both went through, so I guess it is the email address that they keep track of, not just the computer you are using, which some places do.

So, it would be to your advantage to at least just change your password, and notify your provider in case any suspicious activity does start happening.

BB8 - Rumor of sorts. I read an article (I can find the link if anyone else wants to read it - it was on jokers) that JEN is DICK's daughter! Jen knows, but Dick doesn't. It was supposed to come out during the show, but after his early treatment of her, her mother requested that they not use it. I went to CBS.com and looked at their pictures - and I can see similarities, coloring, smiles, lips, but maybe I am imagining it. Jen looks a lot more like Dick than Daniele. One thing the article said was that it explained why Jen took her mom's picture down as soon as she won HOH and went into her HOH room - so Dick wouldn't see and recognize her mother.
