I waited until the last minute to pack for my trip to NY to be a guest on The View and I brought YOU along for the ride.

I have a big problem w/ the whole Paris thing. She was drunk driving.....against the law! What if she had been in an accident w/ one of your family members? Then to make matters worse she drove w/o a license. Which she blamed on someone else....hello if you don't have that little picture thingy of yourself in your wallet when you leave the house-DONT DRIVE!!! cause you don't have a license! Twice she was caught w/o one, TWICE.

Ross - safe flight!! I can NEVER sleep the night before traveling - always afraid that I will over sleep - then you are just exhausted. AND, I can NOT sleep on a plane or in a car - it's sad!
AND, I can NEVER pack ahead of time - MR. MEK says I "enjoy" the pressure of last minute!! (I don't think so!!)

now, about packing. not sure if this will help you or not. but i am exactly the OPPOSITE of you. i pre-pack for days, if not weeks before a big trip. every time i think, "oh! i can't forget this!" i just toss it in the suitcase, or on top of it, or near it. then, when it IS the night before my trip, i can just take out the stuff i DON'T want. (because i've usually got too much!)MUCH less stressful.

Ross...close your eyes (if u r not driving)and do some deep breathing. Make sure your tummy rises on the inhale (count breath as you inhale) hold breath for a little bit and then count breath as you exhale VERY S L O W L Y. Couldn't hurt, might help. You could search for a relaxation meditation online.

watching the view right now as I type. The background of the set is a carribean sea blue and the accents are gray - SO - I think that your choice in outfits are spot on. The black shirt, without the blazer, may be all you need. But, take it with you and decide in the green room.

Your eyes are beautiful - anyone ever tell you that?

And - not a huge fan of the rose print behind your bed. Maybe a black and white photo of the Eiffel Tower or a Vettriano would look good there.

You are so sweet about Paris Hilton. I'm going on a trip for two weeks, and I've done nothing. I don't want to pack anything, cuz what if I need it? Then I have to remember which bag it's in and unfold stuff...blah blah blah. Besides, if I'm packed I get all antsy and impatient. It's much better to get to leave as soon as your packed. You get ready and just GO. But, I think I will do laundry now. Laundry is lame enough without having to do it at 5am.

I am a last minute packer as well, I hate packing!

My old roommate used to get her suitcase out 2 weeks before a trip and start slowly packing then! So funny! We would always laugh about it. I would tease her about how she should pack now, just in case she needs to take a fall vacation. She actually packed before I did when we went on the trip for my wedding!

OMG - that was so rude of Mary Ellen... I just built a house and every room is different. I have this huge dark blue oil painting with a huge flower that looks almost like some sort of alien lifeform. Everyone that walks into my guest bedroom remarks about it. Well, I got it at Target and I LOVE it. Your home has to be filled with things you love - who cares what anyone else thinks.

Anyway, safe flight - I'm looking forward to the next blog and have set TIVO for the show tomorrow.

Ross - The poppy picture behind your bed is very lovely. I am also a major procrastinator when it comes to packing. My family always gives when a hard time when I travel back to Kansas, because they know I will be up half the night doing laundry and getting the house just right. Thank goodness I am driving and not catching a plane.

I was wondering if anyone else feels the same way I do when they are going out of town? I am so anal about everything being perfectly where it belongs, all laundry done, trash out, carpets vacummed, floors washed and etc.

OMG Mrs E: I am totally that way. I mop, dust, make sure dishes are washed/dried. All the laundry is done and put away. I make beds, etc...I hate to come back from a trip and have to worry about house work. I am always so lazy after a weeks vacation away.

I didn't get a chance to write on yesterday's comment section but I have a small tip for bumper stickers. Stick the sticker to a large piece of magnet. That way you don't have that sticky stuff on your car, and it the sticker fades you can just change it. The only down side to this is that there is a possibility it will fall off:(

Hey Ross! I hope your flight went well....you know, not too much turbulance since the weather is crappy here on the east coast. I do hope the plane had those plug-in thingies for your laptop. It sucks when your battery dies half-way through a movie....and it is always at the BEST PART! Why is that?...

Anyways, I've been up since 6:30am "tidying like a MOFO" (to quote our beloved Ross) because our apartment is supposed to be inspected today by the Fire Marshall. They had a scheduled inspection last month and the guy did not show....grrrrr, so it was rescheduled for today. It's now 1:10pm and still no guy....WTF? I am running on NO SLEEP since I layed down at about 4:45am (YES, I was in the chat room that late, lol) this morning for a little bit and my alarm went off at 6:30am and I've been up ever since. I am soooooo tired. I think I might lay down on the couch for a bit and vege. I just know that if I close my eyes, the guy will come...lol. Ok, I am sooo cross-eyed right now, so I will end my ramble.

Poz:When we travel we have to be at the airport at least 2 hrs early. A small airports secuity such as Lansing MI usually only takes about 10-15 minutes. A larger airport security can seem like an eternity! In Vegas it can take 45 min. I always get "padded down" because my titaniem knee sets off the metal detectors.
Ross: I can't see you "dissing" anyone. I know you will be a gentleman, even if it kills you! LOL!

Ross - I'm just the opposite of you, I get so nervous that I'll pack days ahead sometimes. I've found that when I do pack later, something comes up and it never goes well. Last time, I got really sick and only packed half the things I intended to!

The Paris thing has me conflicted, too. I mean, she did the crime and it's important for celebrities (esp 'celebutants') to know that they're like everyone else and are not above the law. But, I don't think just sending Paris to jail will solve anything. Why isn't the cell next to her full of Lindsay and Nicole?! It's nice to have an example, but no other judge will stick by it, so it almost seems pointless.

Everyone else: I'm so excited that Rosie answered MY question (although I'm sure I'm not the only one who asked her) about whether they would see each other while Ross is in NY. I LOVE it when she answers ME!!! That's the 5th time!!!

oh I forgot! My husband and I are TOTALLy -last- minute packers.

husband usually stays up the whole night if it is an early flight. I go to sleep VERY late. wonder why that is too!

I also went to bed early but couldn't sleep til like 1 last night and I had to be at the gym and on the treadmill with my journal in hand and heart monitor on to register on my watch at 9 am!

Since there is all of the publicity with Paris Hilton I wanted to find out if anyone watched Oprah last Friday? OM gosh, it was about a drunk driver going down the wrong side of the interstate and crashing into a limo with numerous family members that had just attended their daughters wedding. I won't get graphic, but the 7 year old flower girl was decapitated in the accident. I had to stop the recording and watched the remainder of the program later, because it bothered me so much and I couldn't get it off of my mind. OCD :\ This all happened, because of a drunk driver. This family will never be the same and Oprah made it clear to everyone to think before you drink and drive. If people are rich or poor, young or old, they need to think of the safety of others if they are going to get loaded.

As for Paris Hilton, yes she does get bad press at times but yet I feel she brings some of it on herself. They were really hard on her at the MTV Awards last night.
Paris chose to drive after drinking & broke the law. Maybe this might be a wake up call for her.
Four years ago my best friend was killed by a drunk driver.

I don't feel sorry for Paris. I'm not happy she's in jail b/c of who she is, but for what she did. I mean, driving under the influence is not cool. Thank God nothing happened, but if you think about it she could have hit and killed someone. Unfortunately it happens every day.

I also have the iHome for my iPod. I love it. It actually has really good sound for such a tiny stereo.

My life is such a whirlwind right now, but in a good way...I will be FLYING for the very first time to New York later this month!! I thought I was going to take a train, but found a cheap flight! I am SO excited and nervous to fly for the first time..I wished Ross was in NY that week! LOL

I also found out that I have a 2 hour layover in Atlanta, and biscuit has agreed to meet with me!:) I wonder if Jeff will show!? LOL

I couldn't beleive today when I signed on and you had over 200 comments and it was even 1:00 CST. I am so used to using that time to go back and read what comments were posted after I left for the last time the night before. And then when you put a new one up I am usually in the top 30, though once I made 15. Anyway, I had a blast reading all of them. I assume I will have to scan back up to read what was posted while I read, and while I rested while my pain pill took affect.

yeah, food on the plane. that's just urban legend. LOL unless you're in 1st class, i suppose. i spent $3 on a bag of potato chips last time shmoo & i went home to san diego. all in all though, despite the fact that i travel with a 5yr old AND a chihuahua, i don't find it all that difficult. but then, i don't think anybody wants to deal with frisking a woman who has a kid and a chihuahua. LOL funny thing is, every time i fly w/tucker (the dog) they always ask me, "will the dog be with you round-trip?" i always look at the dog, shrug and say, "i suppose so. but only if he's good." LMAO

Hymenoptera- My check-in for body fat count. 9.8% I didn't hit my 8% dag nabbit butt it would have been lower if I hadn't lost 5 pounds and other factors.

I had other amazing news too!! My nutritionist gave me my labs results a week!!

My viral load is undetectable again and my T-cells are at 540. It's the first time they are that high since I first got sick.!!

I hope you have a great time on The View!! I went to a taping of The View once. That was when Meredith and Star Jones were still on the show. It was pretty cool. They gave us coupons for free Lean Cuisine, and the movie Saving Private Ryan. Oh and Dennis Rodman, and Fantasia from American Idol were the guests.

I'm really jealous that you're on the east coast, and sort of close to me, but I have no way of meeting you. (I'm in Boston, you're in NYC.) Looks like I'll just have to watch you on The View tomorrow, in order to deal with it.

OH! I totally saw you on Perezhilton.com earlier, with Perez and Jackie Beat. Where was the charity event that you got to hang out with both of them? You all look super cute.

I do not know you, but that is fantastic!!

My uncle Nick (Who used to sing in San Fran's men's chior) has been HIV possitive since 1986, he is truly my hero. Granted there have been some really rough patches,including the awful yeast infections from multiple antibiotics. However, he has continued to stay in theatre and live a happy, healthy life.

May you be blessed with the same continued success. Sorry to share such a long story with ya'll but,there are not to many happy ones when it comes to HIV/AIDS. Peace Out!

Oh dear Ross, that was an expensive fish. My Scottish heritage gets the best of me sometimes and I will not pay that much money for a piece of fish!!! I wouldn't pay that much for a steak. Oh Ross, I always pack at the last minute too. But I think about what I will take a week in advance. I always overpack because of it, but hey, it's better to bring things you don't use, than to wish you'd brought something you need.

OMG Ross $30 for fish. I am cheap cheap cheap. I bought at Albertson's Dover Sole and it was $4.99 a pound. When I cook it I will think of you and your $30 fish. Hope it was worth it. I can't believe how many post there are. Just a few hours more and then The View for you. Hope you are able to get some sleep.

How strange....I was up packing at 6:30 this morning to catch a flight too and I had the same problem...I could not get to sleep! AARRGH! Plus I was so anxious about not missing the plane my stomach is all messed up. Does that happen to you too? It takes a whole day to recover.

You can find affordable places to eat in NYC.
There are usually several to a block so if you don't like what you see keep going.
On 46th between 5th and 6th you have Brazilian BBQ restaurants galore, very affordable prices.
I know all the places you are going are in Midtown.
The first clue the restaurant is expensive is if the tables are pre -set with 2 wine glasses.
Anything in Time square is going to be over priced, 5th ave is going to be expensive as well. those places tend to attract the tourists whom they over charge, they also have expensive rents to pay.
But on the side streets you can find some very nice little ethnic restaurants,
On 48th between 6th ave and 9th are lots of fabulous Thai restaurants, very affordable prices, healthy food also.

I'd never had a bumper sticker until my hubby decided he liked driving my car. I hated driving his suv so I bought a sticker that read: 'Caution Blonde Driving' and I placed it upside down on the bumper of my car. Hubby no want to drive my car anymore;)

Ahhhhh now i know why there are over 500 comments. It takes a long time to read through 500! Whew!

I like to travel a lot, so I always keep a bag all ready to take (bath and beauty products, non-script meds, pantyhose, jammies and flip-flops), during a few days prior, I start real packing of outfits or at least hanging them on the door (I know there is a blog bud whose skin just crawled - sorry!!). The night before I just kinda review my clothes, add a few too many extra outfits and throw in the undergarments. The morning of the trip I just have to add my hairdryer, flat iron, meds and cell phone charger. Voila!
Of course, I still forget something or decide I hate what I brought and HAVE to buy at least one new outfit!!

P.S - I am helping the march to 600!

A few years ago I went to Italy with one of my friends. We wanted to be prepared for anything, so we took a fricking medicine chest with us! She worked for a Dr., so she brought antibiotics, muscle relaxants, we got every kind of OTC drug we could think of. The only thing we didn't take was mosquito bite stuff. Leave it to Moweenie - I rode the gondolas in Venice at night and got BIT ALL OVER. Had to find a Pharmacia and buy something before I scratched my skin off!!

I also packed a converter kit, travel iron, travel hairdryer and a ton of toilet paper! I had read that none of the WC's in Italy would have toilet paper. I shlepped that crap around with me thru Rome, Venice and Florence and a few other places! By the time we headed back to Rome, after about 7 days, I threw all of it out. I figured no one would ever see me again, so scew the wrinkled clothes, screw the un-perfect hair - ergo screw the converter kit!(yes, I even threw out the iron and hairdryer!!) And, every bathroom had toilet paper! I didn't need to use any of the 6 large rolls of Charmin I packed!!! Tossed that, too! I couldn't bear to carry any of that crap in my suitcase anymore! Besides, left more room to buy stuff!

Wow, everyone, WAY TO GO!!!!! What a new record to set, and the night before Ross goes on the View!!!
