Ross Im in the love with this new talk blog! I had a moment where I was talking back to you like i was saying omg I do the same thing when I drive lol. Who cares what those other people are thinking of you when they see you talking to yourself lol you could be on speaker phone or something lol. Im loving CFC not only because YOU are on it its because its more interesting than the other ones I have seen.
I so went to the mall today too. I kind spent too much money at American Eagle but I need shorts bad. I think I spent like 157 dollars there oh well. Good luck tonight and I will be watching it!

Hi Ross and Bloggers! Ross, you are cracking me up!!!! I was sitting in my office laughing out loud as you were trying to adjust the cam and drive talking about how dangerous it was, and then you started messing with your cell while drinking.. ha ha! What a MULTI TASKER you are.
I just got back from my 2 1/2 mile walk for the 5th day in a row. I wasn't going to walk today as I was going to give a tennis lesson this morning which is a pretty good workout for me, but they canceled last minute. Anyway, weather in Atlanta is beautiful, and the walk feels good.

Hi SacBarb. don't let .8 discourage you. Even though it is not a whole pound, multiply that x52, and that would be almost 42 lbs in a year at that rate! Also, I have a great suggestion I had a friend tell me once.. She was trying to lose weight and would get discouraged about the small losses, so her husband bought her a big bucket, and every week after she weighed, she would come home and tell him how she did, and he would go out and put that much sand in the bucket. After a few months, she was amazed how much sand was in the bucket and how heavy it was for her to lift. I thought that was so cool, and a great visual to push her past the low moments, she could go out to her garage and look at the bucket. TRY IT !!!

i really enjoy the video blog idea. scared the crap out of me though. drinking coffee, driving, fiddling with the cellphone & video blogging? yikes! sounds like something i'd do. ok, minus the video blogging dealie! LOL
for those who knew about us moving to TX, we're here. i have to say, i think i'm more suited for Tejas than chicago. maybe it's more similar to california, i dunno. but so far, so good. i may change my mind come august! i am NOT a heat person! love my SF weather best. 50-60, cool, foggy. ahhhhhhhh. bliss.
as for my "git fit" tips. i am one of those people who actually enjoy rice cakes, always have. BUT, i have to have something yummy on 'em. peanut butter, cream cheese, or even better, philadelphia jammin' swirls. (blueberry jam w/cream cheese. heaven!) every little bit counts!

SharonK - Thanks for the special comment a couple of days ago re: flylady.com. Don't you just love it! Guys, it's not just for the ladies. The last time I was called an angel was when I stopped on a dark, cold night in Western Kansas travelling to my moms for Christmas and a high school Senior had just hit a dear! Oh my, it was not a pretty sight.
Oh ya, I am so proud of myself. Just this morning I passed up a homemade breakfast burrito, Krispy Kreme donuts that were being sold by the dozen outside Walmart and I said, "NO THANK YOU" to my friend at HEB grocery store who works in the bakery and wanted me to try some brownie thing.
Now, blog buddies, please help me. I am a stay at home mom and have issues with "grazing" all day, especially when I am making dinner. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I climbed stairs three times today (with my leg deformed and no ciruclation)and that was a major accomplishment for me!!!

Mrs. eHarmony: Do you like celery, carrots (yuck for me), peppers and such? I don't think they have hardly any calories if you have to munch and I know it is hard not to when you are home all day.
What stops me is that I don't have alot of food here and I try to keep busy. When I'm reading a good book, I don't want to be bothered getting anything to eat cuz I don't want to be interrupted.

I, too, am at home all day and I keep a bag of baby carrots for whenever I feel the need to eat something between meals. When I go out, I put some in a baggie and take them with me. It has kept me from getting something "fat" at the mall. Also nuts are a good snack and if you don't eat too many, aren't too fattening.

Welcome all newbees! I had to slip in a minute before tonight so I wouldn't get behind on all the comments.Ross YOU ROCK!! There is no way anyone can watch your talky V without smiling. You are tooooo precious!!! eHarmony, I stumbled on to a neat food suppressor. I was having problems with my tummy, my sister who is a nurse told me I wasn't taking in enough fiber, or water. I now drink loads of water (hate it) and take Fiber Choice weight Management chewable tablets, and Benefiber powder. Honestly I'm not promoting! Anyway eating cravings are gone!
Ate four oreos and a hoho today - Feel bad about it. When will the lifestyle change set in? When did it for you? How did you do it?

Mommy of 5 - no, the peanut butter and rice cakes didnt scare me off. I love PB, almost too much.
For those of you who are drinking a lot of water like I am, and you HATE, I mean H A T E water, may I suggest PROPEL Fitness Water! The Lemon taste just like Lemonade and it is delicious. I keep my fridge stocked with the Lemon, and Raspberry Lemonade flavors, and drink about 4 bottles a day to get the recommended 48 oz. of water per day.
They are pretty cheap too. 3.00 a 6 pack at my local Target.
Good Lord, I should get $$ for all the endorsements I just did. :-)

Snack idea: Dr Ian was on a local Seattle talk show this week and had samples of some snacks. The one that I keep thinking about was 4 rice crackers with a small dollop of low-fat cottage cheese. That made me happy because I love cheese and crackers and that MIGHT (hey, I said might) be a good substitute.
He also showed apple sauce with toast, graham crackers with peanut butter... and if I can remember any of the others I will let you know.

On another note...I finally get some days off!!! I am so excited. It is a good thing...especially after the fall I took yesterday. I am such a klutz! Expo reminds me of an Olympics atmosphere and I'd love to go again some time.

someone asked about the bees; I have 3 hives doing really well which is a big deal. I did loose 8 to a variety of causes.
I think the issues is stringer bees with stronger immune systems have to breed, sort of like natural selection
I am VERY SAD.. my laptop had to have the "motherboard" fixed today by the IT dept at work.. now the speakers do not work!! AAAAHHH I cant hear all the fun :(...... anyone computer savey that can give me advise???
glynis - if the cottage cheese doesn't do it for ya, try ricotta. (non-fat) i use it for a lot of different healthy things. i add just a sprinkle of parmesan to it to make it cheesier tasting for a cheesy snack. i also add a bit of almond or vanilla extract, splenda, a few chocolate chips and maybe some almonds. used to eat this as a nice, healthy dessert when i did the no-carb thingy. (as i say eating a hostess cherry pie! darn that husband of mine! he knows my weakness!!!)
and for those of you who don't care for artificial sweeteners, i highly recommend splenda. i LOVE that stuff. and i'm not an artificial sweetener kind of gal.

Actually had a delish dinner tonight...
Steamed Brown rice with Grilled Vegetables...I grilled them with a touch of EVOO and fresh garlic,S&P and Dry Italian Seasonings and a splash of Balsamic Vinegar.Tonight I used Baby portobellas,a southern peeled yam, a vine rippened tomato a zucchini and a japanese eggplant...It was delish!

Also, to Whabbear and others with high blood pressure: there is a biofeedback machine called RESPeRATE that works well and no side effects possible. (No, I'm not getting paid for this!). It's a bit expensive, but I know people who have been helped by it. It's at least worth checking out.

My friend and I were so excited for you when we saw your awards spot on Jay. You look amazing. We are one month in to getting fit...by lifestyle changes. I am walking 5+ miles a day and eating under 2000 calories. I had thyroid cancer about 11 years ago, so it totally can't be about the numbers. They just don't move. Oh, well. At least my clothes fit better. Can't wait to watch more fit club.

I loved the second installment of Talky Blog! I have dial-up, so it takes awhile for me to be able to watch the whole thing through without stopping...but it is worth it! Ross, you're adorable. I love Grey's Anatomy! LOVE. I am slightly concerned about Addison leaving for her own show. :( I don't cope well with change. I'll miss her interaction with all of the others. Derek needs to not be such a dillweed to Mere. George better not switch hospitals. I will die if he leaves. I think that Izzie and Alex will get back together at the end of this season. Haha. I want to suggest something I have always done to map my progress since sometimes you gain weight because you have built muscle and burned fat and muscle weighs more than fat.
all of a sudden your cloths fit better but you have not lost weight.
Take measurements with a tape measure of:
your upper arms
Chest waist
hips at hip bones
around the largest part of your hiney
at the biggest part of your thigh
calves
keep them some place so you can compare, I keep them on a 3X5
I just took my measurements and I have put on 2 inches everywhere in a 2 year time period; that is sure sobering.

Wow! There are so many new bloggers on here every day, and now the number of posts are increasing in leaps and bounds and it's getting harder and harder to read them all when you're behind!
Ross-Awesome talky blog! I am so waiting for your mom to kick your butt for it though! I wonder if she got it uploaded yet? Has she called you, cause I'm sure she will not yell at you on the blog. You're too sweet and too funny, do you know what a great guy you really are? Missed TTS last night, went out and didn't know enough to go home, kids were all out so I siezed the moment. I miss everyone when I don't post for a few days, it seems like you get out of the loop and you're missing out on stuff. Though I am trying to get with the git fit stuff. My job requires me to be on my feet all day, and I walk back and forth from my store thru my boyfriends shop which is 1/5 mile long about 50 times a day now, instead of radio-ing him, I am feeling the difference-esp. in my calves.

spaghetti squash bake
cook one spaghetti squash until done. remove from shell, place in strainer to let steam, water, etc. escape, and allow to cool. once it is cool, place in a mixing bowl w/one egg white, shaved parmesan cheese to taste, 1 tablespoon olive oil, italian seasoning to taste, and 1-2 pieces crumbled bacon. mix well and place in 9x9 baking dish. bake at 350 for approximately 30 minutes. remove from oven, allow to cool 10 min or so. serve w/salt & pepper to taste.

Ross..... I did some "getting fit today!!" I rode 9.5 miles on my bike. I was disappointed b/c my goal was 16... BUT that was a goal for the flat trail. My Boyfriend took me on a hilly trail, SO it was a much harder ride then the 16 mile flat ride would have been. I was still very mad at myself, but he told me to focus on the accomplishment of doing a hilly ride for that many miles.... and one of the hills was a "Major" hill!! We took 3 times to get me up it, but i did it!! :)(I think the miracle was that the BF had patience with me.. not normally a patient person :) ) Now if i could just get your eating habits! What are they, by the way, or will we find out during CFC? Did you follow a specific diet, or just chenge the foods you ate? Inquiring minds want to know!! Enjoy your day!!

I am reading a GREAT book now by John Woods about how he collects books for libraries he started in Nepal. I am just starting it but so far I love the book. I saw him on Oprah, and it peaked my interest. How I would love to travel to some less fortunate place and volunteer my time in some way. I am afraid though. Of what? I don't know! Getting sick, hurt or something I guess.

Anonymous---I've missed you, so I'm going to let you in on some happenings in my life. My dog-ter, Dixie, woke up late last night limping & the cause is unknown. With the help of Mr. Buttercup, I rearranged the furniture in my bedroom. I might be able to hook up my printer this weekend!! I had to drive Mr. Buttercup back home to Irving, TX late Thursday & came back home late yesterday after spending some time with my dad at the clinic for a depression assessment. I had a spasm in my shoulder & neck & took a muscle relaxant for it. I've been fighting the need for napping on a perfectly sunny & warm Saturday afternoon as a result.
