Saturday: topic of the day.

April 28, 2007

Happy Saturday, blog buddies!

Did you get a chance to watch me on The Tonight Show last night? If so, I hope you enjoyed it!

It's stupid hot here in Los Angeles today, so I'm doing something I never do. Never. Ever. I'm wearing shorts.

But I'm about to head to the gym, so I totally look sporty and fun and short-appropriate.

Anyway, it's the weekend and you know what that means - it's time for a TOPIC OF THE DAY!
TOPIC OF THE DAY logo.jpg

Today's topic is...

If you could bring back any sitcom from the past, which one would you choose and who would you cast in the roles?

I'd bring back Designing Women but I'd call it Designing Men and I'd play the role of Julia Sugarbaker (Dixie Carter) except I'd be called Johnny Sugarbaker and I'd be all Southern and confident and no-nonsense-straight-to-the-point-don't-mess-with-me assertive, only without the shoulder pads.

What are YOUR thoughts? Go to our COMMENT SECTION to share! I'll see you there.

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!
Ross

Couch #2.

April 26, 2007

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

REMINDER!!!

I'm on The Tonight Show TOMORROW night!

We're airing the segment we shot while I filmed an episode of Celebrity Fit Club.

More info tomorrow...

Okay - how much fun was yesterday's TALKY BLOG?!? Seriously! I love love loved it and I hope you did, too. We'll be doing a bunch of those in the future. I like making the RossBlog as interactive as possible and we're really on our way to the next level, don't you think?

And how have YOU been doing with our new BLOGGERS GIT FIT program?!?

Have YOU literally or figuratively taken any steps to improve YOUR health? If so, what have you done? What's been difficult? What's been easy? What has surprised you one way or the other?

Go to our COMMENT SECTION to share! I've gone to the gym every day since we started the BLOGGERS GIT FIT program and, I've got to tell you, I feel fantastic. It's not easy talking myself into putting on my gym clothes and actually making my way to the gym, but once I'm there I feel fantastic and I'm always thrilled I went.

But remember - it may have been about the number on Celebrity Fit Club, but it was never about the number for me. It's about getting HEALTHY. And if I can do it, YOU can do it!

In other news...

I'm going to spend this afternoon couch shopping. Why? Well, my current couch is fine. It's totally cute. I've only had it a couple years and it's still in pretty good shape. But, because I like to mix things up from time to time, I've been flirting with the idea of getting a different couch.

I shared this thought with my best friend Kim and her boyfriend (who doesn't like to be mentioned by name on the RossBlog and prefers to be referred to as "Dietrich Underpants") once and they told me they'd love to take my old couch when or if I ever got a different one.

Well, when I was in Nashville at the CMT Awards a couple weeks ago they took care of my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise. Apparently, though, Louise wasn't too paw-fect while I was away.

Let me explain...

You see, sometimes - very VERY rarely, but sometimes - when Louise's fur is too long and she takes a number 2, she leaves a bit on her bum. I know. It's gross. But, because I'm her daddy and I love her, I just use a paper towel or something to remove it and move on.

But when she was with Kim and Dietrich a couple of weeks ago, the little extra #2 on her bum went unnoticed. That is, until they realized there was an ucky smell all over the house.

Yes, that's right. Louise brought her extra #2 into Kim and Dietrich's house and unknowingly got it all over their bedding. And carpets. And couch.

Carpets and bedding, luckily, can be cleaned very easily. A couch, on the other hand...

Luckily Kim and Dietrich thought it was hysterically funny. But I was/am mortified. And it has bumped up my search for a new couch in order to QUICKLY replace their newly #2'd couch with my current one.

Hence today's couch shopping.

What I won't do for that freakin' paw-fect lil' dog-ter of mine.

I feel much like what I imagine my mother felt when, as a young child at Expo '86, I stomped on a mustard packet and it sprayed all over the innocent girl standing in front of me.

Has anything like that ever happened to YOU?

Bloggers Git Fit!

April 24, 2007

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

I'm calling today Operation: Organize Your Life. Seriously. Lately I've been so busy that I've begun living like a teenager. My room is dirty. There are dishes in the sink. I have bills that need to be paid. I forget where I put my vacuum. And, oh, so many other no no's.

So I'm spending today putting my life back together like all the King's horses and all the King's men tried to do when Humpty Dumpty fell off that wall. Let's hope I have better luck.

Of course I'll have everything finished tonight in time for American Idol! Are YOU going to watch?!?

In other news...

Okay, I wrote in yesterday's blog that I'd be telling y'all about something super exciting today.

Well, when I made the decision to participate in Celebrity Fit Club way back in November of last year, I had no idea how my decision would impact so many people.

I literally get hundreds of emails a day asking me what my "secret" was to get fit.

God, I wish I knew.

I'm still not there yet. I feel like I'm still on the journey of trying to get to the place I'd like to be. But just like most of you, getting fit and living a healthy life has always been complete and total mystery to me.

I try to read every email I receive (although I can't respond to them all), and I never know how to respond to those searching for the "secret".

I've thought about it a lot and, for the first time in my life, I feel like I kind of get it. Kind of.

The big secret is... there's really no secret at all.

It's about eating well and moving your body. That's it.

But then I thought, "Why has it worked for you so far this time?"

The only answer I can come up with is ACCOUNTABILITY.

Every couple of weeks I had to walk into a room and let the nation know what I weighed. Not only that, but I had a team of people who were counting on me to reach my goal.

I've never had that before.

Even now - just this morning - Maureen McCormick called me to tell me what she had for breakfast just like she always does and, since we've both been busy and slacking a bit lately, we promised each other we'd go to the gym today and report back tomorrow.

"Don't lie to me if you don't go," she said.

"Oh my God, never!" I replied.

That's accountability.

So in an attempt to share something with the thousands of you who have sent me emails inquiring about weight loss, I'm sorry. I have no secret. But I do have something that worked for me and I'd like to share it with you!

So, blog buddies, if you want, let's get fit together!

I still have a ways to go and maybe, just maybe, during the process, y'all can join in in a blog movement I like to call BLOGGER GIT FIT!
Bloggers Git Fit LOGO.jpg

Why the "i" in "get"? Because if I can do it you, YOU can do it!

I don't know how it will work exactly, but I believe the power of many is stronger than the power of one.

So while you watch the beginning of my journey play out on Celebrity Fit Club in the next couple of months, ask me questions. If I can help, I'll answer. Ask your fellow blog buddies questions, too! If you've had any success of your own in the journey to git fit, share your stories with us!

That's the point! SHARE! If you've tried, share. If you've failed, share. If you've done it, share. If you're scared, share. If you're completely lost, share.

And when you succeed, share.

We can do it together!

And if you're not up to the challenge yet, that's okay, too! Be a cheerleader!

What do YOU think? Are we up to the challenge? Go to the COMMENT SECTION and let me know!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

A work in progress.

April 23, 2007

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

I'm so sorry today's blog entry is going up late. I've been in meetings all morning and have sort of run out of time. Also, to be honest, I'm kind of low energy today. I think it's just a case of the Mondays, but still, I'm like in total slow-mo today.

Here I am earlier this morning as I doodled at my desk.
fcp bizzord.jpg

Why did I waste so much time being BLAH?!?

But I took a nice walk around the NBC lot and totally shook off whatever was holding me down. It was wonderful and I feel a million times better! If you have a case of the Mondays, I highly suggest you take a quick lil' walk outside, too.

In other news...

Did you watch the very first episode of Celebrity Fit Club last night?!? Didya didya? I did!

In fact, I watched it with some of the producers and crew and a few of my fellow cast mates at our host, ANT's house!

It was so so so great to watch the first episode with the people who I went through it with, you know? And the best part? My best friend Kim came with, too! It was perfect!

Here I am with my wonderful cast mate Tiffany and my amazing BF Kim.
fcp tiff kimmy n me.jpg

Here I am with Maureen McCormick, another cast mate and one of the loves of my life.
fcp momo n roro.jpg

Seriously. We both fell in love with each other during the filming of Celebrity Fit Club. They call us "Roro & Momo". We're the show-mance of the series. We still talk each other through the ups and downs of weight loss. It's fantastic to have a partner in the journey to get fit!

Here I am with two more amazing people - ANT, the host of Celebrity Fit Club, and Stacey Kaiser, the psychotherapist on the show.
fcp stacey me ant.jpg

And here I am with the very talented and smart Richard Hall, the Executive Producer of the show and the man I trusted with creating a smart, classy show (even in the midst of turmoil).
fcp richard hall.jpg

Speaking of turmoil, I saw some footage of upcoming episodes of Celebrity Fit Club and TRUST ME - you DO NOT WANT TO MISS AN EPISODE. Unreal. Un. Real.

Seriously - there is everything from emotional and heartwarming successes to unfathomable displays of idiocy to near throw-down fist fights.

It's fantastic television!

You know what's weird, though? When we were watching it, Maureen turned to me and said, "I can't believe I ever looked like that."

I replied, "I can't believe I don't look like that anymore."

Seeing footage of myself from 6 or so months ago at a much higher weight was oddly... comfortable? I mean, I looked like that for 27 years. I'm much more familiar with "Fat Ross" than I am with the person who I see in the mirror now.

It's so interesting to be an active work in progress, you know? I may not yet be finished with the journey (I don't know if we ever are), but I'm further along than I've ever been before.

I went into the experience hoping for a lifestyle change. I never thought it would change my life.

I can't wait for y'all to see the upcoming episodes!

On another note...

Prior to watching the premiere episode of Celebrity Fit Club, I spent yesterday morning at a fundraiser for the pet adoption agency New Leash on Life called Nuts For Mutts. Along with Nicole Sullivan from Mad TV, I judged the Best Kisser category and the Best Trick category.

Here I am during my judging duties.
fcp doggie adoption thingy.jpg

Click HERE for more info about Nuts For Mutts.

It was SO nice to see all the amazing people who do so many amazing things for all the amazing doggies who need good homes. I was honored just to be there.

Okay - check back tomorrow for a fun new surprise on the RossBlog! It's something we can all do together. :)

Have a great day, blog buddies!

Behind the scenes at The Tonight Show.

April 20, 2007

Happy Friday, blog buddies!

Okay. You’ll never guess where I am right now. Guess. Guess. You’ll never guess.

I’m at the TV Guide Channel building in Hollywood where I’m going to be a guest on Realty Chat, a show co-hosted by Kimberly Caldwell from American Idol.

Fun, right?!?

Here I am in the make-up room as I type today’s blog.
sani makeup room.jpg

In other news…

Did you watch me on The Tonight Show last night? Didya didya?

I thought it was a super-fun segment. Who knew I was so country?!?

As I always, I took pictures of my day behind the scenes at The Tonight Show.

Here I am when I first got to my dressing room and started practicing the script of what I’m supposed to say when I come out on stage with Jay to introduce the segment (I rarely say what’s on the script, though).
sanji script.jpg

Then Kevin and Kenny (the camera operator and audio engineer on my shoots) came in to chat me up about the segment. Aren’t they cute?!?
sanji kevin and kenny.jpg

Then I ran down the hallway to watch Anthony and Matthew put the finishing touches on the segment in the edit room.
sanji anthony and matthew.jpg

And then… it happened.

I’ve written a lot about Sanjaya on the RossBlog. I think I might be one of the few people in the mainstream media who has supported him. Don’t get me wrong, he shouldn’t have won American Idol or anything, but I still think he’s just a kid and shouldn’t have gotten all the crap he did.

Well, when I heard he was going be on The Tonight Show last night I thought, “Oh my God, I have go get a picture with him for the blog!”

So after rehearsal I tracked him down. Sounds easy, right? It wasn’t.

He was surrounded by about 8 Fox publicity people and I had literally 2 seconds to take a picture. Seriously. One shot. That was it.

He couldn’t have been sweeter. And he’s much taller in person! To be honest, he kind of gave me a young Michael Jackson vibe – soft voice, eye contact, shy, etc.

Then it was time to take the picture.

That’s when it happened.

I turned into Popeye.

Seriously. I don’t know why or how I made the face I made in this picture. I’ve never made this face before. Right when my friend Scott said, “Okay. One, two, three…” I felt it. My nose kinda scrunched up and I thought, “What are you doing?!?”

Click.

I turned into Popeye.
sanji and popeye thought bubblecopy.jpg

WHY?!?!? And it was my one chance at a photo with Sanjaya. Oh well!

Then it was time to get into my outfit.
sanji purple shirt.jpg

Isn’t that purple western shirt amazing?!? Charmaine from The Tonight Show wardrobe department is the woman responsible for it. Here we are together.
saji sharmaine.jpg

Everyone say, “Thank you Charmaine”! And I apologize if I spelled Charmaine’s wrong.

Here’s a shot of the monitor in my dressing room when my name flashed across the screen.
sanji monitor.jpg

And here I am watching Jay do his monologue as I waited in the dressing room right before I went on stage. Do I look nervous?
sanji jay monitor.jpg

And, finally, here’s a shot of the audience waving to me during the commercial break before I went on stage.
sanji audience.jpg

Cute, huh?!?

Okay, I have to go take this show. Wish me luck!

Until later, gang!!!

Tonight Show TONIGHT!

April 19, 2007

Tonight is the night!!!
CMT TONIGHT.jpg

Watch me on The Tonight Show TONIGHT as I go behind the scenes as a presenter on the Country Music Television Awards in all of my bedazzled country glory!

I got a sneak peek at the segment this morning and, at the risk of toot toot tooting my own horn, I think it's pretty great!

Anyway, set your alarm or your VCR or your Tivo or whatever!

And come into the CHAT ROOM to watch it with your fellow blog buddies! I'll try really hard to be in there during the East Coast feed so you can watch me watching you watch me. Dizzy yet? :)

In other news...

I spent this morning shooting the opening title sequence for the upcoming webshow, The John & Ross Show. It'll launch on the web very very soon, I promise!

The opening is super-cool and involves spray paint (that's all I say for now). Here I am with John and our camera crew, Kevin (camera) and Kenny (audio).
sp crew.jpg

They're such great guys!

And I think I might have gotten a bit stoned from the fumes! Why? Because when we were all done I got a great idea - I grabbed a can of spray paint and started writing a message to all of YOU!
sp idea.jpg

Thank God we were all wrapped with the shoot!

And finally...

It happened last night - Sanjaya got the boot. But I thought he handled himself really well!

And I have BREAKING NEWS! Sanjaya will be a guest on The Tonight Show TONIGHT!

I hope hope hope I get to meet him and take a picture with him to post on tomorrow's blog. Wish me luck!

Okay, I seriously have to run to rehearsal. I'll be taking pictures all day to post on tomorrow's blog.

Until then, blog buddies!

Sleeping (on) Duty.

April 18, 2007

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

REMINDER: I'm on The Tonight Show TOMORROW night!

We're airing the segment I just shot when I was a presenter at the CMT Awards and, at the risk of jinxing it, I think it's going to be really good!

In other news...

Yawwwwwwnnnnnnn.... I am beat. I had an amazing time in Nashville, but working double duty as a presenter and a Tonight Show correspondent mixed with my highly successful efforts to familiarize myself with Nashville's buzzing nightlife has left me feeling a bit... sleepy.

I got back into LA last night and barely managed to stay awake long enough to watch American Idol, then quickly crashed and slept through the night.

Even so, I'm still dragging a bit today.
sleepy 1.jpg

But I can't rest today because I have so so SO much to do! Since I've been out of town since Saturday, a crapload of stuff has piled up on my desk and I've got to get to work.

For real.

Seriously.

I have to get to work.

Oh screw it - nap time! :)
sleepy 2.jpg

After my nap I'll get to work, I promise.

On another note...

What are YOUR thoughts on American Idol? I thought my girl Melinda nailed it. NAILED IT! I think, if I were on American Idol, I would have done really well last night. I just recently started singing country music while going to karaoke and I must admit that I'm rather good at it.

Seriously!

Last time I went to a karaoke bar (last week) I surprised myself by choosing Garth Brook's "Calling Baton Rouge" and I really nailed it!

Don't believe me? Just wait until my Tonight Show segment airs - you'll see just how country I can be!

And finally...

We haven't done this in a while, but to promote my segment on The Tonight Show tomorrow night we're going to have a SYNCHRONIZED CHAT tonight!
Green SYNCH CHAT logo.jpg

Set your watches and join me in our CHAT ROOM tonight!

I'll be there LIVE on video TONIGHT at 6pm Pacific Time.

Behind-the-scenes: CMT Awards.

April 17, 2007

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Okay. I’m writing to you right now from somewhere up in the sky. I left Nashville about an hour ago and I’m on my way to Dallas to catch a flight to LA. Seriously. I’m on the plane right now!

Don’t believe me? Here’s a picture of me with Anthony, the guy who produces all my Tonight Show segments.
cmt anthony and I.jpg

Of course I’m not online or anything (because it’s illegal), but since I didn’t have time to write today’s blog earlier this morning, I thought I’d write it and edit the pictures on the flight and post it during my layover in Dallas.

So let’s get to it!

Did you watch me on the CMT Awards last night?!? Didya didya?!?

I’ve got to tell you, I was so so so nervous. I don’t know why, really. I mean, I don’t get nervous that often. But I’m new to the country world and I didn’t know if they’d embrace me whole-heartedly.

I’ve got to tell you – I think I’m in love with the country world. Seriously! Everyone was amazing to me!

I started out my day yesterday doing some Tonight Show interviews backstage. Here I am with wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.
cmt stone cold.jpg

And then I ran into country superstar Kellie Pickler who I am now totally obsessed with.
cmt kelli pickler.jpg

Could she be any cuter?!? And I thought she was one of the best dressed of the night, too!

Then I met with Todd, one of the writers on the show, to discuss my lil’ script for when I went out onstage with Lance Smith to introduce Carrie Underwood.
cmt todd script.jpg

Todd’s wife is a fan and I promised I’d put his picture on the blog so his wife could see it. Everyone say, “Hi Todd’s wife!”

Finally, after roaming the backstage area for a while, it was time for me to put on my outfit and get my picture taken for OK Magazine (there’s no guarantees that my picture will make the magazine, but let’s keep our fingers crossed!).
cmt ok photo shoot.jpg

Can I tell you I’ve never felt more bedazzled and beautiful in my entire life?!? I mean, sure, the purple is a little “Barney”, but still! I wanted to be “me” but also “country” and I think my look walked the line perfectly.

And then it was time for another big moment in my life – they let me cross over the velvet rope and actually walk the red carpet.
cmt posing red carpet.jpg

Can you believe that?!?

I mean, I always cover these award shows and interview the stars on the red carpet, but I never get to actually walk the carpet and do press like a real celebrity!

I also got to be interviewed by tons of press. Here I am talking to Extra
cmt extra.jpg

… and Access Hollywood
cmt access hollywood.jpg

… and CMT’s katie Cook.
cmt candy cook.jpg

And people in the stands actually knew who I was! Here I am signing some autographs.
cmt autograph.jpg

SURREAL!

But I didn’t get to stay on the red carpet long because I was also there to work. After I did some press, I raced back to interview the real celebs as they came down the carpet.

Here I am interviewing Carrie Underwood.
cmt carrie underpants.jpg

Since I was introducing Carrie Underwood on the actual awards show, I had to run inside to grab my seat before the show started. Along the way I ran into my friend Melissa Peterman (from the sitcom Reba).
cmt melissa peterman.jpg

I love love love her!

And I got to meet Miss America, Lauren Nelson, too!
cmt miss america.jpg

Then it was time for the big big big moment.

Honestly, I was kind of freaking out. I’ve never done ANYTHING like this before! Just imagine it – you’re backstage with huge stars and you’re about to walk out in front of thousands of people on life television to introduce the biggest country music star in the world. Wouldn’t YOU be nervous?!?

But I did it. And it was GREAT! Yes, I was nervous, but as soon as I got up there something just kicked in and I felt amazing.

Here’s a picture my friend Alana took of the monitor as I was up on stage with my co-presenter, CMT VJ Lance Smith.
cmt monitor .jpg

After my presenting duties were over, it was time for me to go to the press room backstage to talk to even more press. Look, I get it – I’m not “famous” and I’m certainly not the biggest name in country music, but the press was still really nice to me.
cmt press room.jpg

At first I kept telling myself, “Ross, chill out. Nobody cares that you’re here.”

Then I changed my mind. “Ross, screw that. How many times will you get the chance to be here? How many chances will you get to present at an awards show?!? How many times will the press want to talk to you?!?!? SOAK IT UP AND HAVE FUN!!!”

So I did! :)

And it was a fantastic experience.

Oh! And I promised two people I’d put them on the blog. Amanda, a freshman in college, had the job of being my CMT escort for the evening. She was responsible for making sure I was where I needed to be when I needed to be there. She was super sweet and did a great job. Everyone say, “Hi Amanda!”
cmt amanda escort.jpg

And when I was leaving the awards show late last night I ran into Michael, an avid reader of the RossBlog. I told him, “Well if you read the RossBlog you get to be on the RossBlog!”

Everyone say, “Hi, Michael!”
cmt michael blogger.jpg

What a fun day!!!

And now we’re getting ready to land in Dallas. I’ll post the blog as soon as I get online.

Oh! I can’t wait to get home in time to watch American Idol tonight. I think it might even be country night. How appropriate!

Until later, gang!

Countrycation.

April 16, 2007

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

Or should I say, “Howdy, y’all!”

I’m writing to you from Nashville, TN and I’m loving every minute of it! Seriously – I’m sort of in love with this town.

Bright lights and music everywhere coupled with the fact that people wear sequins when they dress up propels Nashville to near the top of the list of some of my favorite cities.

You’ll never guess who was on the same plane I was on coming out here from LA. Guess. Guess. You’ll never guess.

My friend and country music sensation Jo Dee Messina! You may remember we did a lil’ Tonight Show segment together during the Olympics in Torino.

Here we are after we landed at the airport in Nashville.
cmtr jo dee.jpg

It was so appropriate running into Jo Dee randomly because it really kicked off my country education. Countrycation. Oh my God. I just made up a word. Just now. It literally just happened as I typed it. I love it!

It should be in the dictionary!

Countrycation (kun-tree-ca-shon): trying desperately to immerse one’s self into the country music world in merely 2 days prior to presenting on the Country Music Television Awards on live television.

Anyway…

After catching up with Jo Dee, my countrycation continued as we went to the place where the CMT’s will be held.

The very first thing I noticed when I walked in was that they had the faces of famous people taped to chairs. They do this at rehearsal for all award shows so the camera operators and director will know where everyone will be.

I thought to myself, “Dare you even look to see if they have your face?”

I looked.

And there I was!
cmtr me face.jpg

I couldn’t believe it! I had had had to take a picture with myself. Wouldn’t you?!?
cmtr me n me.jpg

Then I met with Peter, the stage manager, who told me what my presenter duties where going to be during the show.
cmtr peter.jpg

OMG, guess what I’m going to do. Guess. Guess. You’ll never guess.

I, along with CMT VJ Lance Smith, will be introducing… CARRIE UNDERWOOD!!!

Can you believe that?!?

I’ll be on after the 6th commercial (which is roughly, I’m told, an hour and a half into the show). At least that’s what they told me yesterday.

Peter and I had to stop in the middle of rehearsing because it was Hank Williams Jr.’s chance to run through the song he’ll be singing tonight.
cmtr hank williams jr.jpg

And then I fell in love. Seriously. The next band who rehearsed was Sugarland. I’d never heard of them, but they were AMAZING! A. MA. ZING.

And I got to meet them after and they were even more amazing in person!
cmtr sugarland.jpg

I’m now a huge huge huge fan of theirs. Why didn’t I know about them earlier?!? Are YOU a Sugarland fan?!?

So make sure to watch the CMT’s tonight! When I’m up on stage I’ll try to remember to scratch my eyebrow. That will mean, “Hi, blog buddies!!!”

Also, the Tonight Show segment we’re taping while I’m here will air this coming Thursday on The Tonight Show!

In other news…

You may remember that Louise and I had a photo shoot for an upcoming issue of In Touch Weekly last week! They’re going to feature us in their “Stars and Their Pets” section. How fun, right?!?

Well the amazing photographer, Christopher Ameruoso, sent me a couple shots to put on the RossBlog and share with all of you! I don’t know if either of these is the one In Touch Weekly will use, but they’re both amazing!
In Touch Weekly 1 blog size.jpg

In Touch Weekly 2 blog size.jpg

Isn’t Louise UNREAL!!! The 2nd picture is my FAVORITE!!!

Everyone say, “Thanks, Christopher!” Click HERE for his official website.

Okay, I’m running SO late! I have to iron my shirt and be downstairs in just a few minutes.

Until tomorrow, blog buddies! And remember to watch for the eyebrow scratch tonight (just don’t kill me if I forget)!

A wee touch of stage fright.

April 13, 2007

TGIF, blog buddies!

I am running around like a crazy person trying to get everything ready. I'm packing to leave early tomorrow AM for Nashville to be a presenter at the Country Music Television Awards (airing on Monday), plus I have to find something to wear tonight.

Where am I going tonight? Well, I'm going to the Race To Erase MS fundraiser where I'll be co-hosting the live auction with Tom Arnold! Fun, right?!?

When they asked me to take part, I said, "Sure!"

Then, yesterday, I got the list of all the stars that are going to be there and I totally freaked out. It's like this big dinner thing with tons of famous people and I have to get up on that stage with Tom Arnold and be funny while we raise money.

Seriously. I get a wonky feeling in my tummy just thinking about it. I mean, Ray Romano will be there. Allison Janney will be there. Dr. Phil will be there. Eva Longoria will be there. And tons of other, too, and they'll all be watching as I try to auction stuff off. And it's not just "stuff". I got the list of items yesterday and the starting bid on one of them is $30,000.

For reals.

I need a xanax just thinking about thinking about it.

I'm never like this, though! Seriously - I never ever get stage fright. Maybe I'll be okay once I'm there, but I'm sorta freaking out in the meantime.

The good news? I'm going to look fantastic! I have a new suit that I haven't had a chance to wear yet and I think I'm going to pair it with the blue floral shirt I wore last time I was on The Tonight Show.

Wish me luck, gang!

In other news...

I'm pooped! I spent all morning at a photo shoot for In Touch Weekly with my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise. They're featuring us in the "Stars & Their Pets" section in an upcoming issue! How fun, right?!?

Here we are right when we got to the location of the photo shoot (which was at the park right across from my office at NBC).
ph us.jpg

The photographer, Christopher Ameruoso, is famous for taking pictures of celebrities and their pets. Click HERE for his official website.

Christopher was so nice and easy going and made the whole experience super-fun. I was nervous!

Here we are as Christopher snaps away!
ph photo shoot.jpg

Look at Louise - she's like a super model!

I cannot wait to see the finished product! I'll let you know which issue of In Touch Weekly it'll be in as soon as I know.

Since we were right across from my office, after the photo shoot I took Louise inside for a bowl of water and so I could do a few items of work before I leave for the weekend.

It's Bring Your Dog-ter to Work Day!
ph bydtwd.jpg

Too cute!

Then we swang through El Pollo Loco on the way home (for a chicken breast and a Diet Coke).

I swear, when I look through magazines like In Touch Weekly and see those photo shoots, it always looks so glamorous and fancy. It's so weird now that I've been in one. I mean, I made my oatmeal this morning for breakfast and picked up Louise's poop on our walk and then got El Pollo Loco for lunch - FAR from the fancy high-life.

My life is way more about poop-scooping and Diet Coke than photo shoots and big celebrity events.

But I prefer it this way. I like being the outsider who sometimes gets let inside - this way, I can report back to everyone else!

Speaking of, make sure you check back Monday for pictures of my night at the Race To Erase MS event as well as pictures from the first part of my journey to Nashville (I'll be there until Tuesday).

Also, there will be TOPICs OF THE DAY on both Saturday and Sunday - swing by and share YOUR opinions!

Until tomorrow, gang!

A lil' bit country.

April 12, 2007

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

Well, it happened. Sanjaya was safe again this week. Oh wow...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's not the poor kid's fault! He just comes on stage every week and tries to do his best. He can't help it if there's a movement to keep bringing him back. Imagine being him knowing that the entire nation doesn't want you there and also knowing that you have to come back next week and do it all again. I think he's courageous!

Anyway...

Okay, gang. BIG NEWS!!!

I'm leaving for Nashville on Saturday to go be a presenter at the Country Music Television Awards (click HERE)! I don't know why they picked me, but they've asked me to come and be a presenter and I am so so so excited!

I mean, come on - they ask real celebrities to be presenters! How fun, right?!?
cuntry ross.jpg

The Tonight Show is coming with me to Nashville to shoot a segment about my trip, too. I'll let you know when that airs.

I've been struggling to find the PERFECT outfit to wear to the CMT's and I think I've found it. I didn't want to look like I was making fun of country music by going too far and wearing chaps and a cowboy hat, etc. Rather, I wanted to dress like I was just excited to be invited - authentically country!

And I've found it. Seriously. I honestly think I'm going to look amazing. A. MA. ZING. You'll have to wait to see me, though!

Are YOU a country music fan?

Oh! And tomorrow morning Louise and I have a photo shoot. Yes, you read that correctly!

In Touch Weekly has chosen to feature us in their "Stars and Their Pets" section! Isn't that amazing - Louise is a star and I'm her pet! I don't know which issue it'll be in, but I'll let you know when I find out.

Look for pictures of that tomorrow.

And, finally, I wrote about the fact that the RossBlog was nominated for BEST CELEBRITY BLOG at the Blogger's Choice Awards. Well, we're still in 1st place, but Rosie said on her blog yesterday that she really wanted to win this award. My reaction? "2nd place to Rosie?!? I'll take it! :)"

But the competition isn't over yet. Click on the icon below to vote for the RossBlog if you think it should win!

A night at the theatre.

April 11, 2007

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

Did you watch American Idol last night? I did. Well, I didn't watch it while it was airing. I caught it on Tivo after I got back home from my night at the theatre (more about that in a minute).

All in all, I thought it was an okay night on American Idol. I mean, I've never been a fan of the theme nights. Do you remember back in the early Kelly Clarkson days of American Idol when they didn't have specific theme nights? The contestants used to just be able to pick a song a sing it. Now they're forced to sing a Burt Bacharach song or an Elton John song or, like last night, a Latin song because of guest artist Jennifer Lopez.

I love Latin music. I think it's fantastic. But I also kinda feel that making the contestants sing specific genres of songs limits their creative process and might inhibit them from really showcasing their artistry. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I still love it.

Oh, and Sanjaya wasn't that bad! The squirrel growing on his face was gross, but his singing wasn't horrible. Good for him! Still, he's got to go. Him or Haley.

Who do YOU think will get the boot tonight?

In other news...

I had such a great night last night!

My good friend Luke called me early yesterday morning and said, "I have an extra ticket to 12 Angry Men at the Ahmanson tonight. Do you want to go with me?"

I said, "Who dropped out?"

"My other friend," he answered.

"Gee, thanks. I'm honored to be your 2nd choice, Jerkface. But yes, I'll take it!"

So I met Luke in downtown LA last night for a quick dinner before the show started. It was SO nice to go downtown! I never go to that area because I never have anything to do down there. Downtown LA isn't like other cities. Or, at least, it hasn't been until recently. Because LA is so spread out, downtown kinda has a reputation of being scummy.

But in the past few years, downtown LA has experienced a resurgence and is quickly becoming the "it" spot to be.
TAM me downtown.jpg

I met Luke at the little cafe right outside the Ahmanson Theatre, one of the most famous in LA.
TAM Lukey.jpg

Here I am in front of the theatre and the outside cafe where we ate.
TAM outside theatre.jpg

Cute, right?!?

After dinner, since we had about a half an our to kill before the show started, we took a walk around downtown.

It was SO beautiful! Seriously. I had no idea how gorgeous downtown was at night. I was really impressed when I saw this huge fountain kinda thingy.
TAM beautiful water.jpg

Then I looked down and saw that it's on top of a parking lot.
TAM parking.jpg

SO L.A.

Anyway, we saw 12 Angry Men and it was pretty good. Very wordy and serious, but also very well done and totally engrossing.
TAM tam.jpg

I've been promising myself for a while now that I'd start going to the theatre on a regular basis and I think this may just be the kick start I needed.

On another note...

You may have noticed the mini-blog entry I posted earlier today announcing the big big big news!

The RossBlog has been nominated for BEST CELEBRITY BLOG at the Blogger's Choice Awards!

And the best part? YOU get to vote! So click on the icon below and start voting!

Pinch Me Moment: Tiffany Amber Thiessen

April 10, 2007

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Did you watch Dancing With The Stars last night? I did. I didn't plan on it, but I somehow just... I don't know, really. I just sort of ended up watching it. That show does that to you - I never even used to watch it at all, but I accidentally caught it one night and then accidentally caught it the next week and then I accidentally started to care.

Now I find myself watching even though I don't really like it that much. I keep saying, "Oh, this show is so silly. Seriously. I can't watch this anymore. I need to change the channel - oh. Umm, maybe after Joey Fatone dances..."

I don't get it.

I am excited, however, for tonight's American Idol. I think Jennifer Lopez is the guest artist, so they're probably singing Latin songs. Mi gusto!

In other news...

I dropped by our new and improved CHAT ROOM last night (have YOU been yet?!?) and started talking to some RossBloggers via video. Yes, you read that correctly - when I'm in the CHAT ROOM you can watch me and your fellow RossBloggers LIVE on video! You've really got to check it out sometime.

Anyway, one of you bloggers noticed an autographed picture I have on my desk in prior blog pictures and asked me who the picture was of. I almost told the entire story, but I stopped myself and decided instead to write about it today in another edition of...

A RossBlog PINCH ME MOMENT!
Pinch Me Moment LOGO.jpg

It was August 14, 1995. Yes, I remember the exact date. It was the summer after my freshman year in high school and I was working with the Washington State Ecology Youth Corps as a Summer job. My boss, knowing what a fan of Saved By The Bell and, more specifically, Tiffany Amber Theissen I was, told me that the teen idol would be signing autographs at the downtown Seattle Bon Marche.

Being from Mount Vernon, a small agricultural town roughly 60 miles north of Seattle, I had never met a celebrity before. This was my chance.

I hopped in a car with my friends Megan and Molly (yes - the same Molly who just visited me!) for the hour-long trip down to Seattle to make a silly boyhood dream come to life. Molly wanted to go with me for fun and Megan wanted to go because that guy who was on 90210 for a few episodes (he dated Donna and threw her down the stairs - remember?) and sang that song "How Do You Talk To An Angel" was signing autographs, too.

Anyway, once we got to The Bon Marche (which no longer exists, but was like a Macy's) we had to stand in line for almost 2 hours. TWO HOURS. I totally remember it was that long because I spent the entire time practicing what I was going to say to her.

"Okay, Molly," I would say, "Pretend you're Tiffany and I'm me and three, two, one... Go!"

"Umm, okay," Molly obliged, "Hi. I'm Tiffany Amber Theissen."

"OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!!!!!!."

"You might want to re-think that."

I got totally nervous. TOTALLY. When it was finally my time to meet her, I knew exactly what I was going to say. It was beautiful - a mixture of funny and touching and gratitude for entertaining me throughout my childhood and, now, young adulthood (she was just beginning her new role on 90210).

When I got up to her I got totally flustered. She was so shiny.

"Hi," she said, "What's your name?"

"Umm."

She smiled.

"Umm."

I couldn't. Even. Think.

"Uh, Ross. Yeah. Ross."

"Okay, here you go Ross." She handed me an autographed 8x10 photo. "Thanks for coming."
tiff.jpg

"Yes."

I began to walk away and felt my head fill with blood. I was coming to.

"Wat! I need a picture!"

She could not have been sweeter. As I handed Molly my disposable camera and walked back up to her table, she leaned forward, smiled and thanked me again.
me n tiff back in da day.jpg

Even though I totally blew it, I was on cloud nine the rest of the day. And the next day.

For a few years after that, Molly and Megan and I would go down to Seattle on August 14th to celebrate the anniversary of Tiffany Amber Theissen Day.

I met Tiffany Theissen (she dropped the "Amber") again a few years ago when I interviewed her on the red carpet of the Fashion Walk of Fame when Giorgio Armani got his star. When she walked up to me I said, "You MUST remember me!"

She had no idea, but was super sweet. We aired that interview on The Tonight Show and showed that seriously hysterical picture of her and I.

It was a total reminder to step back, look at how far I've come in life and take a second to pinch myself.

To this day, I still keep that signed 8x10 of Tiffany Amber Theissen in my office. After all, she's the first celebrity I ever met.

Fancy swap meeting you here

& the return of the horsie lamp.

April 09, 2007

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

How was your Easter? Did you do anything fun?!?

My gift to all of you yesterday was picture I made of me with the Easter Bunny (scroll down to see yesterday's blog entry). I know, I know... it's super freaky, but it made me laugh really hard.

I took a picture with a different, much friendlier Easter Bunny yesterday when I got to the Rose Bowl Swap Meet in Pasadena.
RB Hoppy Easter.jpg

The Rose Bowl Swap Meet is held every 2nd Sunday of the month and it is one of my favorite all-time things to do in Southern California. Seriously. Imagine an endless sea of overly-priced used crap and weird one-of-a-kind items made by people who most likely live out of their vans as they travel from state to state, swap meet to swap meet.

It's seriously my kinda place.

And don't think for a second that I didn't score at least a couple of amazing finds. And the best news? I talked down the price on both of them.

Here I am with today with the brand new wallet I bought yesterday at the swap meet!
rb wallet.jpg

This guy makes them by taking normal wallets and attaching vintage floral fabric to them. I don't know if you can tell, but it's a dark green with a pink-ish flower on it. Here's a close-up.
rb wallet cu.jpg

Super-cute if you ask me!

And now... oh wow, I kinda get emotional writing about it. Let me explain.

When I first moved out on my own after college, I had no money. Like, none. But I needed stuff for my apartment. Nothing fancy, you know. Just things like plates and lamps and a chair.

So I went to garage sales. And I loved it. It wasn't long until I realized that the crap people sell in nice neighborhoods is way nicer than the crap people sell in crappy neighborhoods. So I would drive from my apartment in the ghetto to places like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, searching the streets for "GARAGE SALE" signs.

Well, it turns out that even rich people's crap is crap. But I didn't care (I still don't). And the best thing about buying rich people's crap is, because they have tons of money and can't act like $2 means anything to them, they won't turn down an offer even if it's below what they're asking.

My best example of this is also my best garage sale find EVER.

I was driving down some fancy, beautiful street in Santa Monica and came upon a random garage sale. Some rich elderly lady was getting rid of some things she'd had for years.

I politely said, "Hello" and began searching.

I think I may have wet myself a bit when I first saw it.

It was perfect. Amazing. I never even knew it existed before that moment, but I knew right then and there that if I didn't have it I couldn't go on living.

It was a lamp. Shaped like a horse. And it was marvelous.

My voiced cracked when I asked, "How much?"

"Oh, I could sell it for fifteen," the woman replied.

She might as well have said $4 million. I was in no position to spend $15 dollars on a lamp, even if it was shaped like a horse. It could have been made out of diamonds for all I cared. I just didn't have an extra $15 dollars to spend on anything.

I don't know how it happened. The Gods must have been shining on me that day. Somehow, I can't even tell you how because it's all a blur, I bought that lamp that day for $4.

4 freakin' dollars.

And that lamp sat proudly in my living room until it stopped working (about 3 years later).

It was the best 4 freakin' dollars I ever spent.

And ever since that horsie lamp went to live in the horsie lamp farm in the sky, I've been searching for something to take it's place. And yesterday I found it.

It's not as good as my original horsie lamp. But it's my original horsie lamp's distant cousin. And I'll take it.
RB horse of course.jpg

It was a good day at the swap meet.

As I type this, people are watching me. Seriously. I'm being watched. I'll explain more in a bit, but first...

It's official. I love Maureen McCormick. Love love her. Like, in love with her.

I was her team captain on Celebrity Fit Club and she supported me in every way, even calling me in the mornings to discuss our breakfast choices and when or if we were separately going to the gym that day.

Maureen is, of course, iconic. But I never really watched The Brady Brunch growing up, so I knew her much better as "my friend Mo" rather than"Marcia Marcia Marcia."

Lately Mo's been doing a lot of press for the upcoming premiere of Celebrity Fit Club (April 22nd). It seems you can't turn on anything without seeing her beautiful face.

Well, she called me on Wednesday morning as I was walking my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise, and said, "Ro! I'm on a plane to New York to do Good Morning America and Larry King Live!"

"No way! Will you please say hi to me on Larry King?"

"Of course!"

"Oh my God, fun! I'll tell my blog buddies to watch!"

"Okay, love you!"

"Love you more!"

"Uh uh."

"Okay, love you equal."

We end our conversations the same way every time.

Well, I missed her on Good Morning America yesterday, but caught the interview online later in the day. I couldn't believe it - there was my good friend Mo, but there was more. She was also MAUREEN McCORMICK, MARSHA BRADY. She was an icon. A star.

I suddenly got kinda nervous. I thought to myself, "Oh my God, you call her at home. You talk to her like she's just anybody else. You joke around with her. You swear in front of her. And, h my God, she's a star."

I kinda got totally weirded out.

And then I watched her on Larry King (guest-hosted by Dr. Phil) and the VERY first thing she said when he introduced her was... well, it went like this:

Dr. Phil: Please welcome Maureen McCormick.

Mo: Hi, Dr. Phil. Let me first say that my daughter says hi and I need to say hi to my good friend Ro!

Cut to me screaming on my couch. Maureen McCormick just said hi to me. Marsha Brady said hi to me. My friend Mo said hi to me. Suddenly I wasn't nervous anymore.

Maureen is a star and an icon, but she's also my friend.

She called me when she finished the live interview with Dr. Phil.

"Did you watch?!?"

"I did, Mo! Thank you so so much! I'm so proud of you - you did a great job."

"Thank you! I love you."

"I love you more!"

"Uh uh."

"Love you equal, then."

In other news...

Why am I being watched?!? Because we had our very first live chat session today in the new CHAT ROOM!

Did you get a chance to drop in to our CHAT ROOM to watch me write today's blog entry LIVE?!? It was so much fun! At one point I think there were almost 40 people in there chatting with me and keeping me company as I did my daily routine of writing the RossBlog.

Here I am chatting with y'all!

chat 2.jpg

How fun is technology, right?!?

I hope those of you who attended enjoyed your glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of the blog! We'll do it again sometime soon, I promise.

And, finally, it's my best friend Kim's boyfriend's birthday today!!! He doens't want his name or picture on the RossBlog for reasons I'll never understand (I think he just likes being a jerk), so around these parts we call him "Dietrich Underpants" (he chose the name).

We're going to drinks and dinner tonight to celebrate. Everyone say, "Happy birthday, Dietrich Underpants!"

Have a great weekend, gang!

April 05, 2007

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

Did you watch our blog buddy (and my Celebrity Fit Club cast mate) Maureen McCormick on Good Morning America this morning? I totally missed it. I'm such a bad friend! But I heard Mo was great and they showed a quick shot of me. Make sure to watch Larry King Live tonight - Mo told me she'll be on (at least, she thought it was today).

In other news...

I had no idea what to blog about today. Seriously. I had nothin'.

So I decided to do something new. Instead of going into the office right away today, I decided to venture out into the world and play a little game. What game? Well, I just made it up. I like to call it "FIVE DOLLAR FUN".
5 dollar fun logo 4.jpg

Here's how it works: go to a store and see what you can get for $5.

It's not very complicated. In fact, it's kinda stupid. But still, it's an excuse to go to Target and call it work!

I chose Target because the one near my house has a Starbucks inside. Yes. A Starbucks and a Target in one. I know... genius.

I walked in the front door and ordered my iced vente American with extra ice for $2.45. I was already half way done.

As I sipped my iced vente American with extra ice and strolled through the aisles, I realized this game might be trickier than I thought. I mean, Target has some great deals, but what can you really buy anymore for two and a half bucks? I had to really focus.

That's when I saw the $1 section. Bingo. I searched through all the crap in the $1 bin and found a total diamond in the rough - a movie and TV trivia find-a-word puzzle book, otherwise known as hours and hours of wordy fun.

I grabbed it.

So $2.45 for my iced vente Americano with extra ice and $1 for my movie and TV trivia find-a-word puzzle book made $3.45. I had a buck and a half left.

Hmm...

I walked through the music section and really wanted John Denver's greatest hits, but it was $5.99 - way over my budget. I went to the aisle with pet stuff, but there was a girl there wearing patchouli and I despise the way it smells so I left.

Then I found it. It was almost too perfect. It's something I love already. It's something I'm out of at home, so I need it anyway. And, the best part, it's roughly in the price range I needed.

Sugar-free Redvines.

Perfect!!! I had my items!
5 dolla make u holla.jpg

My total at Target was $2.79. Added to my total at the Starbucks in Target ($2.45), we have a total of...

$5.24!!!

Yippee! Next time you're bored and have a crisp $5 bill burning a hole in your pocket, think about giving the new game "FIVE DOLLAR FUN" a shot - it's sweeping the nation!

On another note...

Poor poor Gina. Poor thing. She wasn't my fav in the competition, but didn't deserve to leave so soon. When she sang on Tuesday night, though, I told my friend, "She's not playing to her fan base. That could hurt her."

Also, I hear people complaining today and I want to ask them, "Did you vote?!? If you didn't, you can't complain!" I voted for Doo Doo!!! Here's hoping things are made right next week.

Okay, gang. I'm off to do a crossword puzzle in my new book. Maybe I'll even have a sugar-free Redvine, too!

Until tomorrow!

Picking pics.

April 04, 2007

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

Did you watch American Idol last night? Didya didya? I did and I must say I think it was the best night yet. I've been pretty underwhelmed by most of the contestants this year (with the exception of my "Doo Doo"), but a bunch of them really came through last night. I still don't think it's the most talented group of Idols ever, but there are some real standouts.

Who were YOUR favorites?

Oh, and how much FUN was the photo hunt yesterday?!? We're definitely going to be doing more of those!

In other news...

Remember a couple weeks ago when I had a photo shoot for a new picture on the top of the RossBlog? Click HERE to read that entry.

We need a new picture of me up there because the current one kinda doesn't really look like me any more due to my recent efforts on Celebrity Fit Club.

I just just just got the file with all the images and I've been trying to pick which picture should replace the one at the top of the RossBlog to literally be the face of the blog.
Which pic.jpg

Not only is it an important decision, it's also totally kinda creepy. I mean, there are like 300 of my faces staring back at me and I couldn't help but begin to get really really critical of myself.

I started thinking things like, "Ross, your eyebrows look like big bushy squirrels. Why are you squinting? Why would you make that face? No matter how hard you work, you'll always have a double chin. If you put on a wig and some clip-on earrings, you could totally pass for Delta Burke."

Stuff like that. Can YOU look at pictures of yourself without getting totally overly self-critical?

But, after forcing myself to shut up and shake it off, I've made a total decision.

I don't know when exactly, but I know sometime soon there will be a brand new Ross staring back at you whenever you click on the RossBlog. Exciting, right?!?

On another note...

I am totally in absolute 100% love with Maureen McCormick. She's been doing a lot of press for Celebrity Fit Club and she's always saying such nice, kind things about me. We bonded big time while we shot the show and we have kept in touch since.

Just this morning, as I was walking Louise, Mo (as I call her - she calls me "Ro") called me to tell me she was boarding a plane to New York to be on both Good Morning America and Larry King Live tomorrow. I made her promise to say hi to me on Larry King and I promised her all my blog buddies would watch, too!

So, if you get a chance, watch tomorrow night! Mo might totally forget to say "hi" and I'll totally forgive her. But it would be fun if she did! :)

Okay, gang. I'm off to get some more work done!

Until tomorrow,
Ross

Erotic Photo Hunt

April 03, 2007

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Okay, I have to admit something. Seriously. I am, like, officially addicted to American Idol. For reals!

It's seriously like a drug. Think about it: I feel high and alive when it's on, I think about it all the time and when it's over I go through withdrawal symptoms.

I know it's shallow and there are more important things in the world to be obsessed with, but I can't help it. And, truth be told, I don't really care to go to American Idol rehab yet. YET.

Talk to me again in a few months...

In other news...

Oh, I'm so so sad. My friends Molly and Renee, who have been visiting me from Seattle since last Thursday, left my house this morning to continue their road trip up the California coast. I'm so bummed to see them go! We've been having such a great time chatting and laughing and sight seeing and drinking and laughing some more.

To celebrate their last night in LA, we went out to a nice dinner and then to one of our favorite local bars (Molly used to live in LA back in the day, too).

I took a bunch of great pictures, but, umm, kinda totally just accidentally deleted them. Right now. Swear.

Oopsies!

But I drew a dramatization for y'all.
mrr.jpg

Yep. It was pretty much like that, only more fun and in color.

Anyway, while we were having a drink and hanging out, Renee noticed that there was a little video game screen thingy. Do you know what I'm talking about? They're in most bars and they are like little TVs and you touch the screen to play them. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Well, I had never played them before partly because I'm cheap (it costs a quarter per game) and partly because I'm not a fan of touching things that strangers touch a lot (it's a touch-screen, people... eww).

Anyway, Renee said, "Let's play!"

Always up for fun, I said, "Okay!"

This is how it works: you can choose from a bunch of different video games to play. Poker. Blackjack. Something called "Missile Magic" or something and a bunch of others.

We chose to play one called "Photo Hunt". And the best part? We got to choose the categories! You choose from categories like sports or movies or science or erotic or...

Wait. Did I just type "erotic"? Yes I did.

And of course that's the one we chose 'cuz, well, duh.

So Molly, Renee and I spent last night playing erotic Photo Hunt, finding the differences in pictures of naked ladies.

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Erotic or not, here's how Photo Hunt works: there are two pictures side by side that are identical except for 5 teeny tiny differences. It's YOUR job to find the 5 teeny tiny differences within an allotted amount of time.

IT IS SO SO SO MUCH FUN!!! We seriously spent (wasted?) about $5 playing andIdon'tevencare.

And, just for fun, I thought I'd make my own version of Photo Hunt for YOU, my beloved blog buddies! And NO, it won't be erotic. :)

Can YOU spot the differences between the first picture of me sitting at my desk as I typed today's blog and the second?!?
ORIG.jpg

MATCH.jpg

If YOU think YOU spot all 5 differences, go to the COMMENT SECTION (below) and share!

Fun, right?!?

On another note...

I spent this morning shooting part of an upcoming Tonight Show segment with actress/personality Brigitte Nielsen. She was on The Surreal Life a year or so ago and was giving me some advice on how to behave on Celebrity Fit Club.

Things between us got, umm, interesting...?
bn kissy.jpg

bn laughy.jpg

Brigitte was kooky and wonderful! You'll SERIOUSLY have to watch this segment. I'll, of course, let you know when it'll air (which will be relatively soon).

Okay gang, I'm off. Until tomorrow!

Blogger of the Month, Tyra Banks

& a big birthday bbq.

April 02, 2007

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

It's the beginning of the month and you know what that means - it's time to announce the BLOGGER OF THE MONTH for April!

BLOGGER OF THE MONTH has been in existence for a year now and there's one specific blog buddy who hasn't been bestowed with the prestigious honor even though she's deserved it month after month.

Why not? I mean, she's been hanging around the RossBlog since the very beginning. Every month she gets tons of votes. She's here every day participating and, with her positivity and upbeat attitude, making the RossBlog the amazing web-community it is.

So why is she yet to be crowned BLOGGER OF THE MONTH?!?

It's simple: I was afraid of being accused of nepotism.

I am proud to give you our new BLOGGER OF THE MONTH...
mom botm logo.jpg

MomRoss BotM.jpg

My mom!!!

If you've spent any time at all around the RossBlog you know how much my mom deserves this. I couldn't let an entire year of BLOGGER OF THE MONTH go by without giving the honor to her. And if it sounds like nepotism, well.. maybe it is. But the truth is she EARNED this!!! I mean, she did kinda give birth to me after all...

Now, this is where I usually allow the newly appointed BLOGGER OF THE MONTH share a few words about themselves and give an acceptance speech of sorts.

However, this is a total surprise to my mom! She'll be finding out about this the same way y'all will - by reading the blog.

So, mom, I encourage you to post your acceptance speech in the COMMENT SECTION (below) so we all can read it!

Everyone say, "Congrats, Mom_Ross!"

In other news...

I had such a great great great weekend! My friends Molly and Renee are visiting from Seattle and we've been keeping super busy.

We spent part of Friday at The Tyra Banks Show! Some of my Celebrity Fit Club cast mates and I went on to talk about our experience (it'll air in a month or so - I'll let you know).

I was kind of totally nervous on the car ride to the studio, but luckily I had Molly and Renee to calm me down.
WWBD tyra car.jpg

Aren't they cute?!?

I didn't get a chance to take any pictures (I'm not even sure I was allowed to), but Molly totally hooked the RossBlog up by sneaking some pictures of the monitor as she watched the taping of the show from the green room. Everyone say, "Good thinkin', Molly!"

Here I am talking 'bout something:
WWBD tyra me.jpg

Here I am kissing Maureen McCormick (it's a long story):
WWBD tyra kiss.jpg

And here's all of us as we wrapped the show up. From left to right: me, Kimberly Locke, Tyra Banks, Tiffany, Maureen and Warren G.
WWBD tyra cast.jpg

How fun, right?!?

On another note...

Yesterday was a very very special day! My paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise, turned 3 years old!
Birthday girl.jpg

I'm such a proud papa!

Truth be told, she's a rescue, so we don't know her real birthday. But a few years ago, based on what the vet told me when I got her, I counted backwards and decided that April 1st would be her birthday from then on.

We've celebrated the big day with a fun party every year since. Yesterday was no exception.

A bunch of my closest friends came to celebrate, including Louise's boyfriend, Wilson (my best friend Kim's poodle), Kim and her boyfriend, Molly, Renee and my friends from college Ryan and Lora. We had a birthday BBQ party complete with presents, cake and drinking. I mean, in dog years Louise turned 21. Even though she can't partake, we had to celebrate that somehow, right?!? :)

Here's a picture of Louise opening up a present from Renee.
WWBD opening present.jpg

Louise loved it! She seriously wouldn't stop playing with it.
WWBD playing with present.jpg

Then it was time to eat her doggie cupcake. Don't worry - it's all doggie safe!
WWBD cupcake.jpg

It was a great great day!

And now I'm back to work and busy as ever. Molly and Renee leave tomorrow, so we're going to do something special tonight.

How was YOUR weekend?!?

Until tomorrow, gang!

Sunday: topic of the day.

April 01, 2007

Happy Lazy Sunday, blog buddies!

It's time for another TOPIC OF THE DAY.
Topic of the Day LOGO.jpg

Courtesy of RossBlogger MikeySantaCruz, today's TOPIC OF THE DAY is...

Songs that are stuck in your head.

I, for one, have "My Man" from Funny Girl stuck in my head. It's been in there for, like, 4 days. I sing it in the grocery store, while vaccuming, at the hardware store...

Sometimes it sucks to have a song in your head, but sometimes I freakin' love it. Today I freakin' love it.

What song is stuck in YOUR head? Go to the COMMENT SECTION (below) and share with your fellow blog buddies.

And make sure to check back tomorrow to find out who our new BLOGGER OF THE MONTH is and to see pictures from my paw-fect little dog-ter Louise's birthday party!

Until tomorrow, gang!
