Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!
Okay. I’m writing to you right now from somewhere up in the sky. I left Nashville about an hour ago and I’m on my way to Dallas to catch a flight to LA. Seriously. I’m on the plane right now!
Don’t believe me? Here’s a picture of me with Anthony, the guy who produces all my Tonight Show segments.

Of course I’m not online or anything (because it’s illegal), but since I didn’t have time to write today’s blog earlier this morning, I thought I’d write it and edit the pictures on the flight and post it during my layover in Dallas.
So let’s get to it!
Did you watch me on the CMT Awards last night?!? Didya didya?!?
I’ve got to tell you, I was so so so nervous. I don’t know why, really. I mean, I don’t get nervous that often. But I’m new to the country world and I didn’t know if they’d embrace me whole-heartedly.
I’ve got to tell you – I think I’m in love with the country world. Seriously! Everyone was amazing to me!
I started out my day yesterday doing some Tonight Show interviews backstage. Here I am with wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.

And then I ran into country superstar Kellie Pickler who I am now totally obsessed with.

Could she be any cuter?!? And I thought she was one of the best dressed of the night, too!
Then I met with Todd, one of the writers on the show, to discuss my lil’ script for when I went out onstage with Lance Smith to introduce Carrie Underwood.

Todd’s wife is a fan and I promised I’d put his picture on the blog so his wife could see it. Everyone say, “Hi Todd’s wife!â€
Finally, after roaming the backstage area for a while, it was time for me to put on my outfit and get my picture taken for OK Magazine (there’s no guarantees that my picture will make the magazine, but let’s keep our fingers crossed!).

Can I tell you I’ve never felt more bedazzled and beautiful in my entire life?!? I mean, sure, the purple is a little “Barneyâ€, but still! I wanted to be “me†but also “country†and I think my look walked the line perfectly.
And then it was time for another big moment in my life – they let me cross over the velvet rope and actually walk the red carpet.

Can you believe that?!?
I mean, I always cover these award shows and interview the stars on the red carpet, but I never get to actually walk the carpet and do press like a real celebrity!
I also got to be interviewed by tons of press. Here I am talking to Extra…

… and Access Hollywood…

… and CMT’s katie Cook.

And people in the stands actually knew who I was! Here I am signing some autographs.

SURREAL!
But I didn’t get to stay on the red carpet long because I was also there to work. After I did some press, I raced back to interview the real celebs as they came down the carpet.
Here I am interviewing Carrie Underwood.

Since I was introducing Carrie Underwood on the actual awards show, I had to run inside to grab my seat before the show started. Along the way I ran into my friend Melissa Peterman (from the sitcom Reba).

I love love love her!
And I got to meet Miss America, Lauren Nelson, too!

Then it was time for the big big big moment.
Honestly, I was kind of freaking out. I’ve never done ANYTHING like this before! Just imagine it – you’re backstage with huge stars and you’re about to walk out in front of thousands of people on life television to introduce the biggest country music star in the world. Wouldn’t YOU be nervous?!?
But I did it. And it was GREAT! Yes, I was nervous, but as soon as I got up there something just kicked in and I felt amazing.
Here’s a picture my friend Alana took of the monitor as I was up on stage with my co-presenter, CMT VJ Lance Smith.

After my presenting duties were over, it was time for me to go to the press room backstage to talk to even more press. Look, I get it – I’m not “famous†and I’m certainly not the biggest name in country music, but the press was still really nice to me.

At first I kept telling myself, “Ross, chill out. Nobody cares that you’re here.â€
Then I changed my mind. “Ross, screw that. How many times will you get the chance to be here? How many chances will you get to present at an awards show?!? How many times will the press want to talk to you?!?!? SOAK IT UP AND HAVE FUN!!!â€
So I did! :)
And it was a fantastic experience.
Oh! And I promised two people I’d put them on the blog. Amanda, a freshman in college, had the job of being my CMT escort for the evening. She was responsible for making sure I was where I needed to be when I needed to be there. She was super sweet and did a great job. Everyone say, “Hi Amanda!â€

And when I was leaving the awards show late last night I ran into Michael, an avid reader of the RossBlog. I told him, “Well if you read the RossBlog you get to be on the RossBlog!â€
Everyone say, “Hi, Michael!â€

What a fun day!!!
And now we’re getting ready to land in Dallas. I’ll post the blog as soon as I get online.
Oh! I can’t wait to get home in time to watch American Idol tonight. I think it might even be country night. How appropriate!
Until later, gang!
Ross
