Looking a gift card in the mouth.December 22, 2006 |
Happy Friday, blog buddies!!!
I am in SUCH a rush. I spent yesterday shooting a "fit camp" for Celebrity Fit Club and today we're shooting the weigh-in ceremony. I have no idea when I'm going to get the crap I need to get done before I leave tomorrow for Washington State to spend the holidays with my family. Things like laundry, packing, sleeping, etc...
Oh well! I'm sure everything will work out.
To be honest, the thing I'm freaking out about the most is that fact that I still have a BUNCH of people to get gifts for and NO time to do it.
So this is my question for you: is getting someone a gift card tacky?
I can't decide. I mean, a gift is a gift is a gift, right? So who cares if it's a gift card, right? But then I think, the whole point of a gift is essentially saying, "I saw THIS and thought of YOU."
I'm worried a gift card might say, "I thought of YOU, freaked OUT that I had NOTHING, so I just got THIS to shut YOU up. Happy Holidays!"
But then again, I love love love getting gift cards. Hmm...
What are YOUR thoughts?
Okay. I seriously seriously seriously have to run.
Until tomorrow!
Ross
COMMENTS
I don't mind gift cards.. That way you are able to get what you really want instead of the awkward thank you of a gift you might not be in love with and want to return.
Gift cards are great! The best part...you can spend them on all the after Christmas sales!
Happy Holidays Ross, Enjoy your time with the family.
Gift cards are great- I think they say that you care enought to let someone get something they like instead of a reindeer sweater or an object of art only you could love. You know they won't be taking back your gift- or keeping it just because it was you who gave it. I love getting them.
Whats in the box?????? Safe travels.
I like to get gift cards to local restaurants. That way I can go and have a happy night out with my husband and friends. The gift may not last long but the fun and memories are worth it. I also like to get gift cards for manicures & pedicures. I don't ever have time to go get them, so if I have a gift card I will make time to go pamper myself.
Trying to get off work early to go last minute shopping.
Lynne
I like giving- and receiving- gift cards. To me it says "I care enough about you to not give you crap you won't like and will just regift anyway."
But I usually buy a little something for them to open, just for fun, with the card tucked inside. It can be something serious like a scarf, or something silly like one of those cheap toys found in grocery stores. Or Jay's 99 cent stores! To make them laugh when they open it.
Good luck, have fun and Merry Christmas!
I think gift cards are just fine. Id much rather get a gift card and get something I wanted. I do see your dilema, however, the person on the other end might appreciate something a little more thought out and personal. I am assuming any friend or family member of yours probably knows that you are the busiest man alive right now, and besides, its the thought that counts. The fact that you are running around with a million things going on and still stopping to think of getting a friend a gift card is all by itself thoughful. I say, go for the gift card... a true friend wouldnt care either way.
Good luck today!!
Happy Holidays everyone!!
Gift cards are not useless, in fact I take greater care in getting people giftcards shopping for one that thye will be able to use, so that they are not like...victoria secrets...but I am a guy.....or something. I hate getting gifts I hate
This year I am getting tires, an alignment, and hugs...we are all way too poor to shop this year!
Hey, Ross! I just discovered you had a blog and beings that I love love love you, I was so excited!!
Anyway, I agree with Lynne. Gift cards to places that the person may not go to too often, such as a nice restaurant or spa are excellent choices. As for me, I love anything free and a gift card is getting free stuff of my choosing.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
Go with the gift cards. They say, "I care enough about you to make sure you get exactly what you want." The important thing is to get the cards from shops, restaurants, etc. that may be unique favorites of the individual. That really shows you put thought into the gift. Happy holidays to everyone on the blog!
here's an idea. in france adults exchange gifts on new year's day. so if you haven't bought gifts for some people simply give them on new year's day. can we have more pictures of you healthier?
Ross, everyone likes Chocolate or some tasty treat, why don't you gift bag a gift card and perhaps their fav sweet treat along w/ it.. works for me! :)
I like giving gift cards, I mostly give cards for a service, something like spa treatments or a haircut.
oh...have a Wonderful Holiday with your family in Washington
Gift cards say "I love you and didn't want to get you something you would hate and take back...so here is money" I go a slightly different route and give cold hard cash....you can spend it anywhere
hey all, merry christmas to you all.
i love the gift card idea, i have used it on many occasion. especially when we lived 4 hours away from our families and we sent them all gift cards one year for christmas and they loved it, plus its a lot less hassel on your part too, just stick in their christmas card and merry christmas. :D
hubby's dad is doing much better, we was released yesterday evening after falling 9 feet off of scaffolling. he has a few staples in the back of his head and very much shook up and in a lot of pain. but thankful to be alive. well today shamus our youngest decided to run in the hallway and run his mouth right into the hardwood bottom of his bed. ran out to me blood all over his face, had his lip and frendulum cut. took over an hour to get it to stop. he still has a bit of dried blood on his bottom lip, he wont let me clean. going to try and get him later. plus they both are on antibiotics for 10 days. what a joyful christmas for us all. rofl hubby is suffering with the flu as well. but he sweats if out of him, rather then take anything for it.
well i think that is it for me, i think i will go and create a padded room and put my boys and the rest of the family in it so no one else gets hurt before or during christmas. rofl
take care all and keep it real. have a great day all.
sonia
I ♥ gift cards.
Two weeks ago, the hubby and I found a stack of gift cards we received for Christmas last year. It was a fantastic little surprise a year later!
Have fun at the weigh-in!!
Ross gift cards are fine as long as it's not for your mom, just my opinion.Have a very merry Christmas.Lea
just be careful what store you get the gift cards from! my grandmother, every year, gets me gift cards to stores i never shop at..so it's essentially like buying me something i'd return anyways..but it's just more hassle. unless you're SURE, go for the generalized visa gift cards..those are safe.
i don't really like getting gift cards..it's kind of like "hey i just got you money because i couldn't think of anything." unless it's from someone who usually gives bad gifts ;)
uhhh, clearly somebody knows the meaning of christmas? geez linds...
Here's the golden rule of gift giving:
Give a gift you'd like to receive! Gift cards are great! I love getting them too! I say go for it. Safe travels tomorrow Ross!
Sweetie, they probably all read the blog. And I'd bet they understand. :)
You just being there with them is a gift in itself. Because being together and loving each other is REALLY what it is all about.
Have a great and safe trip. Merry Christmas to you and your whole family and to everyone in Rossland!!
(I'm headed out of town in an hour, to be with... not my family, insert sad face here. At least my in-laws are nice people, insert smiely face here.)
Ross: It seems everyone is posting comments to go ahead & give gift cards for Xmas ... guess I was born in a different generation ... and was brought up knowing that it's the thought that counts ... not the price or size of the gift. My boss has given me a gift card every year to a store I never shop in ... how terrible is that?! And it's not like you can tell the cashier to just turn over the money! You have to buy THEIR product! Give cash instead so the receiver can do what they want with your money! Oh, and another thing to keep in mind when choosing gift cards ... there are some stores that will deduct finance charges, interest, etc., from YOUR gift card!! So if you give a $100 gift card & it takes the receiver a little time to use it, the value might no longer be $100! Good thing to keep in mind when shopping for that special gift card!
Have a VERY Merry Christmas, Ross!! I love when you're on Jay Leno! And I love your blog!!
3 more days Bloggers!!
Ross, I also LOVE to receive gift cards, but always feel funny about giving them. I think it really depends on WHO you are giving it to. For example, I would never give a gift card to my parents or my close family, but I would give it to a friend.
Also, why not do a grouping of gift cards? Like give a coffee card AND a gift card, so it is the gift of a happy trip to the mall!
Ross, hope you have a wonderful trip to Washington. Give mom a hug for us and have a very Merry Christmas!!
I agree with everyone else. I love getting gift cards and it beats getting something you don't want but don't want to tell the person that you don't want/like it. So, then you end up keeping something you never wanted and would never use and taking up space somewhere you don't have it. Get it?? Ha...I do love getting gift cards....
What did you get from NBC/The Tonight Show??? You never did tell us what was in the box!!
Have a safe and happy holiday season!!!
pssst....Amanda....read yesterdays blog to see what Ross received from NBC.
Ross, anyone that you might be getting a gift for knows how busy you have been. They will appreciate a gift card with a terrific piece or two of chocolate stuffed in a bag.
My son has 2 jobs. He got a gift card for a movie theatre from one boss and a gift card for a local pizza place from the other. He loved them both ~
One other idea....make donations to your favorite charities in their honor. You can include a note in a card to them then write the check. The organization will send a letter or card to the person officially letting them know that a donation was made in their honor. How cool is that?!
No matter what you end up doing, the people that love you will be happy. Safe travels my friend!
glynis.. i missed it too what was in the box ross got?
I love gift cards!
If you feel bad about it ross, you could always include a note that says something like " I have been so busy shooting, I haven't had a lot of time to go shopping, but since I love you and wanted to get you something for christmas, I'm giving you this card so that you might get something you need or that santa didn't leave under your tree!"
or something like that. I am sure your family and friends will totally understand.. and just for the record, i like my gift cards from target.. i'm just sayin ;)
happy holidays, hope everyone makes it through nasty travelling ok..
everyone in for christmas chat saturday night?
tra la la la la.. french vanilla!
biscy
Don't forget that you can buy gifts that give:
glynis! I totally got some chickens for butter from that site! next year, something bigger.. but it's a totally cool idea that helps someone else!
Gift cards are great! i request them because it beats getting something really ugly or lame..that way you can pick out what you want...that way your not forced to wear that ugly sweater whenever that person comes over and act like "ohh i love this sweater.." its happened before.. Trust me the gift cards are the new thing.. just be sure its the store they actually like!! ive gotten gift cards from home depot.. trust me i never set foot in that store. SO I REGIFTED! it went to a person who really appreciated it because he loves that store and had a field day.he gave me a gift card to Linens in things in return.. his aunt gave him that card. .he doesnt even know what linens and things was.. lol
I don't mind gift cards, mostly because I am hard to shop for because I'm too modest to tell anyone what I really want unless there's something I need.
A gift card to a restaurant is a really good idea, because it says more than by your own present, it says, I want you to have a nice dinner, on me!
Oh, Ross, haven't you learned that sleeping is soooo overrated - says the girl who just woke up from a nap. Good thing you don't have to connect in Denver! I hope Seatac is clear, too. The weather up here is just ridiculous.
Ross, I love gift cards, and think they make great presents. My parents even ask for them to places they like to go out to eat at, and I even love them from MalMart or Narget too!! I don't think it's cheesy to give them, especially since everyone knows how busy you have been!!
Have a great Christmas in WA, Ross, and give Mom and Eric and everyone big hugs from us bloggers!!!
I like gift cards. I like cash. Either works for me. (As long as I don't get a gift card for stores I never shop in, of course those are few and far between.)
Safe travels.
Okay -so the laptop was in the box?
Hi Ross!
I totally think gift cards are a great idea. You can get them almost anywhere but rhymes with Garget is my favorite. Just make sure you get on's that are the Customer Service Counter. You will probably have to stand in a longer line. Yes, you can get them in the regular check out lane too but there have been reports of people scamming gift cards. They write down the number, wait for someone to purchase them, check back every day using the 800 number on the back and then when it shows a balance, they go on line and spend it. So, the safe bet is to get it..at any store......at Customer Service. Safe travels to everyone!
I think there is nothing wrong with gift cards.
Be careful coming back up here cause the weather has been weird lately.
As far as that gift card scam, as long as the back hasn't been scratched off, the card should be safe. I love getting gift cards. I can get what I want. The best place to get a gift certificate from is the spa. LOL!
I am a thoughtful gift giver, but this year I was truly tested...Thankfully all of my friends have more than they need, and really need nothing so I gave Family Gifts of Chicks and Ducks and Bee Hives and a Goat! Some more people will be gifted by these as well by being given the opportunity to feed their children and to make ends meet with these gifts...

Merry Christmas Friends, and Safe Travels Ross...
Merry Christmas Bloggies!
Happy Holidays Ross and Blog Buddies! I love Gift Cards. Normally When someone gives them to me they give them for places that I love but dont normally get to shop it. I give them to my brother because He is so hard to shop for and I would rather him to be able to get something he really likes. All in all I think that gift cards are great gifts as long as its to a place where the person loves to shop or something really unique to them.
Holly
Giftcards are nice, just hope they don't read this! aha
I totally agree with Holly... as long as you get a gift card with the desires and preferences of the giftee in mind, it's all good!
Cute Christmas Card, JAC! Abd for just a moment, when the newly created snow dog sniffed noses with the real dog and and then ran around back of him, I thougth they might be about to do something other than gaze at the stars!
No gazing at the stars here in Toronto. The rain is pelting down, the temperature's about 3 degrees C... in a word, frightful! Luckily, the fire is... well... you know.
That was a terrible post. 3 typos and counting...
I work at a video store, and let me tell you, gift cards to a video store or music store are the best gifts you can give anyone...You rock Ross!!
Hey all...I used to work at a bank and there they offered Visa Gift Cards in amounts that ranged from $5 to $500. You could get either personalized (with the person name on it) or non personalized (a quicker way to get them). I thought this was always a great idea because you aren't making the person go to one particular store or eatery, they can use it anywhere Visa is accepted.
And honestly, I would give gift cards to anyone...and I would be honest. I have told my Mom before that I had no clue of what to get her after having thought about it for weeks. So I got her a $100 gift certificate for the mall where she lives. This is good at any store in that mall. She absolutely LOVED it and now my Dad gets her one of those along with other little gifts that he gets her. She has her own "unique" taste in clothes so this always works out good for her!!!
JACNY, thanks for the beautiful Christmas Card.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone.
Lynne
Ross gift cards rock! They totally count as gifts. It's not as if you always give them and I'm sure you are the sort of person that when you do see something that reminds you of that person you pick it up. Dont' get your dog-ter one though...she might not appreciate it.
I like gift cards also...I think if you use them to hit the after Christmas sales, you double the value! LOL
We just finished having our Christmas dinner early, because my Aunt is leaving before Monday!! We also opened gifts..I love early Christmas! LOL
Ross, I lOVE gift cards. Got several for my birthday last summer and had the best time spending them. My favorite store is BBandB and everyone got me cards for there. They are the best!
I just wanted to let you know that there is website from now until Dec 31 by Bristol-Myers. They will donate $1 for AIDS research for every time somebody lights the candle. You can only do it once. I have never linked, so I'm hoping that this works. Its https//www.lighttounite.org/
Ok, it didn't turn smurfy, so that's the address - check it out. Merry Christmas to all!
I love gift cards -- both getting and giving! Tricia really had the idea I was thinking of -- the Visa debit cards that are pre-loaded. However, I personally tend to get cards from places I KNOW they are going to shop at...
Merry Christmas to all, and safe travels to those on the road and in the air this weekend!
Berry
I think that gift cards are totally ok...besides, it's the thought that counts, right? ;)
Wishing you safe travels!
Hugs to ya,
Sarah
Ladies and Gentlemen: The Shuttle has Landed!
Isn't that wonderful, CG? hehehehe
Ross, I love gift cards. Love getting them and giving them. At least they get something they want or can apply it to something they couldn't get otherwise.
Have a safe trip and have a very Merry Christmas.
Marty
Ross,
Go with the gift cards. I appreciate receiving them. Especially if it's for a restaurant.
JACNY---Wonderful christmas card!! Thank you for thinking of us. We love you and Merry Christmas!!!
Whab---No worries on the ytops, mate! We still understand what you're trying to say. Stay warm and no priority on the catsup-flavored chips. Just have a great time relaxing with family and friends.
Merry Christmas to you!!
Glynis---Ross said in a comment on yesterday's post that the laptop was not in the gift box. We are still in the dark-eww-pardon the pun. Have a wonderful and safe Merry Christmas with Berry and the kiddies!!
Have a wonderful weekend, peeps!!
Merry Christmas to y'all!!!
jno
I like to get gift cards because:
#1) I can buy what I want/need/like.
#2) I can use it on the after-Christmas sales.
#3) I know the person who gave it to me didn't have to stress about finding that "perfect" gift. (I'm kind of hard to buy for.)
Now I really don't like to give gift cards because:
#1) The receiver knows how much you spent on them.
#2) Repeat #1. LOL :)
Have a safe and fun trip Ross. I bet your Mama can hardly wait!
P.S. Congrats to Whab still having a job!
hi Ross,
ho ho ho
i love gift cards
and that is what i get my grandaughter and grandson...etc..
They love the target ones
I love too shop for that special gift, but every time, it seems that i get not the perfect gift
You have been so busy
dont worry
just match the nice gift card too the person
or they have viza gift cards too
and you can even shop on line and give them e mails at amazon .com too spend
Rosie.com is a cute shop with sales too!
have a beautiful night
smiels and peace
:)
I think gift cards are great! People love to shop, well, women love to shop, so you are in essence giving them the gift of shopping! It's basically free money so why would anyone complain??
man, gift cards, cash, checks, money orders...i accept them all. money's money and you can't go wrong with that.
merry christmas, ross!
personally, i love gift cards. this year my secret santa at work bought me some yummy dark chocolate covered graham crackers & a gift card from starbucks. i think giving a little gift w/a gift card is a very nice way to do it. say, a coffee mug w/a starbucks card tucked inside, etc.
TY, Linda and JNO! I checked with sis and bro-in-law, and they say catsup-flavored chips are ubiquitous around here! And Jackie, I hope your next couple of days are way less frantic than the last few have been.
Joey: Did you get your heart's desire for Christmas?
And speaking of typos... LOL@Lemon Deb! Or did you just convert to Judaism?
From the Christmas Complaint Department: We just finished dinner, and I'm ready for chat. Oh... wait... chat's not ready for me!
How do you East Coasters stand it?? LOL!
Hey guys! I've had one hell of a week. First we had Nutcracker, then had a death in the family, now both little girls and I are sick. Sheesh.
Give cash. Gift cards are fine if you you know someone loves a certain store and will shop there. The VISA gift cards can be tricky. They sound all cool, but when you read the fine print, you only have 6 months to use the balance, after that you are penalized. And if you have a $1 balance and you want to purchase a $5 item, you must tell the cashier upfront and pay the $4 first then the $1 with the card.
So I vote for a roll of bills. And remember that you don't have to buy everyone and their cousin a present. Christmas is about family and togetherness, presents are a nice bonus, but not mandatory.
I love gift cards BUT ,,check into them... one store I recived from only gives you a credit for change not cash back .. like whatcha gonna do with the left over $1.33???? They even made a whole new card for the $1.33.. kinda stoopid if you ask me.. xoxox Merry Christmas dress warm its gonna rain here ..
Last year for Christmas my brother and his wife got my mom a gift card for the grocery store that she always shopped at. It was great for her because she was on a limited budget.
DDWife - I get the same for my mom (Bunka), along with other things. She loves it and stocks up at the sales. She lives a block away and it is so convenient for her.
AWESOME TOUCHDOWN AT KENNEDY!!!
Shuttle and it's Passengers are Safe,Sound and @ Home for the Holidays....Amen
Merry Christmas Aint Shirely and Family!!!
Not a spelling error, simulated Southern Drawl!!!!!!!
I like getting gift cards because I make out like a bandit at the after Christmas sales.
I also go ahead and buy that little somehting that I wanted but didn't need.
When its my money I am spending on me I am more practical.
Odd's are if you try to shop now you will buy anything just to ahve a gift to give. Which means you might settle for what you can find instead of what you want. you would be more likely to spend more than you had in mind.
OK, well there is another Barbara posting regularly now, so I will change to Barbara_in_WA so you don't get us confused.
I love gift cards. Then I can pick out what I want. Hubby always gets me a gift card for Coldwater Creek. I would be disappointed if he did'nt.
So get the gift cards and do what someone else suggested, put it with their fav snack or a candle. I also ♥♥♥ movie theater gift cards because movies can be kinda spendy and I go every week with my mom.
Have a wonderful Christmas in Washington! I'll wave at ya tomorrow when you pass over Portland and Southern Washington!
sonia: I'm glad your fil is better. I hope your little one's mouth is better. Poor thing.
Happy Holidays Ross & blog buds! May the good Lord shine down on us all this Christmas season. Aloha!
Gift cards are absolutely great! You can spend them on whatever you want and not have to feel bad or fake a smile when you get something terrible...not that you would get anything terrible for anybody. Happy Holidays Ross, and remember, it's the thought that counts, you could have gotten them nothing at all, right?!?!
I like gift cards because this is an excuse to go shopping and try to buy something I want. Usually I end up getting the needed things. Normally shopping isn't done in this house with very limited fixed income.
I wouldn't mind a movie gift card because that would be something I would want to do instead of what I need - - well I could "need" to get out of the house.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannikah (sorry if I misspelled it) and Happy what ever to everyone else!!!
Hi Ross - I agree with the other posters that say gift cards are an acceptable gift. I actually like them because it gives you something to look forward to after the holidays are over - whether they are for clothing, new CDs or DVDs or an evening of dining out. Nothing wrong with that. Besides, I'm sure your family and friends know that you are a very busy man and you do the best you can shopping for them. Don't fret - they'll be appreciated, I'm sure.
I'm always a little disappointed to receive a gift card because I like being surprised with something they actually took time to pick out. BUT I totally forget all about it once I go shopping!
In the end I think gift cards aren't so bad to give to friends and some family but not to anyone your really close to.
Ross- I love gift cards they rock!!
I also vote yes on the gift cards. They are especially easier to mail out when everyone you know lives hundreds of miles away. I buy them at the stores I know are national & where they shop.
Happy Holidays to everyone. I would like to borrow Ross' blog to thank everyone for the myspace holiday comments. I did not have a chance to send any. Tomorrow I am driving Up North to visit family & (believe it or not) they have no internet service. I hope I don't go into withdrawals from not being able to read Ross' blog. lol.
Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah. Stay safe everyone.
Need water....just...returned from... mall...and Tarjay...with hubby + 3... HELP!
I suppose gift cards could say, "I didn't know what the crap to get you," but I prefer to think they say, "I know you well enough to know that you are picky. See what good friends we are?" Good luck with the shopping--mine is all done! Now I just have to conduct my Annual Christmas Gift Wrap-A-Thon, which will probably take place somewhere around 2 AM Christmas morning....
Ross,
I think ANY gift from you would be grand! I do not think gift cards are tacky...and I would love to get a couple this season. I am a full time student and some extra money towards whatever would be very much appreciated. Happy Holidays and a great 2007 to 'ya!!
Look at it this way, everyone goes grocery shopping and gets gas for their car-- I think getting gift cards is totally awesome--
I've had an unbelievably shocking few days-- recieved a bonus check at my job and got 2 gift cards ~ I was more excited with the gift cards than the check hahaha!
Ross, hope you have a wonderful flight up here to the great northwest to visit the fam....
To Ross and all Bloggers, have a very merry holiday~ Hope all are with family and/or dear friends and stay warm and toasty where ever you are...
peace,
Rose
I have to get a move on here, but since I won't have internet access for a couple days, I wanted to post my own "Lazy Sunday Link". It is called regiftable.com
There are cute stories on there from people who regifted or discovered the ones they received were regifted. Very funny.
Crizzy so nice to hear from you, long time no see.
Glynis I would have thought you needed a good stiff drink after that.
I am definitly ready for Christmas, I just wish I had somebody to carol with. Oh wait I forgot I am too sick to sing. I miss caroling
Special Announcement:
The Silver Fox (aka chat) will be serving hot mulled wine, cider, and shortbread cookies this evening at 8 PM Pacific Time.
All bloggers are invited to drop in and share some holiday cheer with the staff.
:23 what, are you shy?
you are such a handsome devil we want to know who you are?
I think that Gift Cards are great! That way, they can get something that they really want Ross. Have a safe trip to Washington and Happy Holidays, Lori
Since I don't watch TV much, I only recently discovered you, Ross. I'm hooked. I think you're a true wit and I love you. I've only just seen many of your video bits and if you compare THEN to the new pictures on your blog, it's OBVIOUS you're losing weight and your face is getting more super handsome all the time. Happy Holidays!
Happy Holiday Ross and Bloggers
Ross- Have a safe trip to MOM's.
Ross and Daria- I wish my package would have gotten to you on time. It looks like it didn't but enjoy it when it arrives.
Joey,Jacny,Beegees,Biscuit- I'll try to calling you the next few days. Today I work.
I personally see nothing wrong with giving a giftcard. It enables the person to pick out a gift that suits them best, and they'll think of you each time they use it. Nothing tacky about it at all.
Happy Holidays Ross!
-Kristine
RSVP to whabbear:
Yes! Will be there with bells on!!
Yay, AN! You rule!!
Whabby-I'll try to get into chat tonight after a party. If Java 10 allows me into chat!!
Hey Ross!!
First off.....I LOVE YOU! OMG, You crack me up!!
I'm just out of Portland, Or. Stop by and say Hi when you are home in WA for the holiday's!
Ok, now on to the important stuff....Gift Cards...
Personally I think Gift Cards...Unless you know specifically what the reciever has on their list a gift card is the way to go. Like everyone else has said...they allow the reciever to get exactly what they want and spares the awkward "Oh, how nice" What the hell am I am going to do with this gift" smile and thank you....I like to give gift cards to shops, restuarants, stores, etc.. that the person may not normally shop at, to get them out of their comfort zone. You are not only giving them something that they really want, you are also broadening their horizons!
Merry Christmas Ross. Enjoy your visit with your family and keep the laughs coming!
Stan
Holding our fingers crossed, Mikey... and don't forget to overindulge at the party! You're such a bore, otherwise! LOL!
What? No field trip with Ross? I was hoping to travel from CA to WA with Ross at the holidays to see what the airport is like...
Bon Voyage Ross!! The skies aren't clear here, but the winds are low and I am sure there should be no problem with flights arriving at SeaTac.
Mom, enjoy having both of your boys with you for the holidays!!
I agree with everyone...gift cards are great if the're for a store the person really likes. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
MIKEY!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the great gift!! Ross has been out of the office since about wednesday, and it was a crazy week for me because the Tonight Show is on hiatus until Jan 2nd, so i didn't get a chance to open it until yesterday...i actually called Ross and opened it with him on the phone, and we were both very excited about your very thoughtful and classy gift. it really was meaningful and it looks great in our office! oh yeah, it smells wonderful too!
i will indeed have a shawinging christmas, you are such a sweetheart, and thank you so very much for thinking of us! WE HEART MIKEY SANTACRUZ!!!
thanks again, peace, and love,
xoxo,
daria
Awww, Mikey, they got your present!!!

Boy, are you right, LOM! I just got back from having lunch with my Mom, Uncle and Aunt. He's very ill, and its not likely I'll see him again, so I got very emotional on the way home. Hugs to loved ones, indeed!
Heading out to stock up on cinnamon sticks...
Yeah, Mikey's present got to Daria in time... wonder what it was? Hey Mikey!!
Just made two batches of peanut brittle and need to... gasp... go to the grocery store. Hymen, I will surely need a drink after THAT trip!! Ber and I stayed up til 3am wrapping all the presents for the kiddies and I have a few more to wrap later, but my DD wanted to help wrap. We have cookies to bake and then we should be caught up...til tomorrow.
Any word from Ross? Has he landed, or do I need to get Rudolph out to look for him?
Whab~ Sorry that your uncle is so sick. {{hugs}}
TY, Glynis! And heading toward the magic 100...
