The Ross Blog

... and I don't really have anything to write about.

Oh well!!!

I hope ya'll have a wonderful day, blog buddies!

I'm running out the door to go on a long walk with my best friend Taya, my mom and my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise. It's sunny outside and we're gonna walk along the river. I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow. Fun!

I HEART VACATION!!!
Ross

PS - GO SEE Dreamgirls!!! I went to see it last night and LOVED it! It's 90% perfect! Some songs are a little long and a couple should have been cut completely (in my humble opinion), but it's GREAT. Two words: Jennifer Hudson!!! She's UNREAL. And everyone esle is GREAT, too. GO SEE IT!!!

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

It's dark and cloudy and rainy and ugly here in Washington State and I'm loving every minute of it! It's SUCH a nice change to come up here from sunny Southern California to spend some time with my family. So far, we've just been hanging out, going shopping, blah blah blah.

Tonight I'm FINALLY going to see the movie sensation I've been DYING to see FOREVER - Dreamgirls. Expect a full report tomorrow.

I've got to tell you a funny story. Yesterday I went to the gym in town. Sure, it may be the holidays and I may be way up here in Washington State, but Celebrity Fit Club stops for no one and they'll still be weighing me in front of America when I get back home to LA. So I've been TOTALLY watching what I've been eating and TOTALLY working out.

Anyway, yesterday I went to the local gym in town and guess who I ran into. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. I ran into Mr. Nelson, my elementary school gym teacher! Isn't that kind of funny? I was THRILLED I ran into him at the gym and not at McDonald's or a bar or something. He's still the gym teacher at my old elementary school and he looks great. Maybe there's something to this working out thing...

On another note...

Last night I went out on the town with my best friend Taya. If you read the blog regularly, you know who Taya is. We went to high school together and speak on the phone about 8 times a day. Taya lived with me for a year in LA right after college, but moved back to Washington State a few years ago and I miss her like CRAZY. So when I come into town, we hang out kinda non-stop.

Last night we decided to go a couple bars around town for a quick drink. Here we are at a cute bar in LaConner (I forget the name of the bar - oopsies!).
RT Toast.jpg

Isn't Taya cute?!?

The 2nd bar we stopped by is Althea's in Mount Vernon. And you'll never believe what night it was. Guess. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. It was open mic night. IT IS ON! You may or may not know that I have the voice of an angel. Well, so does Taya. In fact, we have a little band called Common Ground and we shared a gift with those lucky enough to be at Althea's last night. We shared the gift of song.
RT Open Mic Night.jpg

We were AMAZING!!!

After our fantastic performance, we walked down the street to another bar called The Doublewide. Guess what we found there. Guess. Guess. You'll never guess, so I'll just tell you. We found the COOLEST jukebox I've ever seen!!! It actually downloads the songs like iTunes or something. Seriously! So you just search an artist's name and it gives you all their albums and you pick any of their songs. SO COOL!
RT Amazing Juke Box.jpg

After putting $5 in the jukebox and picking a ton of songs, Taya and I finished the evening off with class, grace and style. We slow danced!!!
RT Dancing.jpg

In other news...

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Did ya'll have a great Christmas/holiday/Monday yesterday?!? Didya didya? I certainly did!

I went down to my brother's fiance's parents house to celebrate the big day with my mom and we had a GREAT time! In fact, Santa himself was there to greet us as we walked in!

Here's Santa and Louise:
Louise n' Santa.jpg

She looks a little scared of the big guy, don't you think?

Santa brought me a Seahawks hat!!!!
Ross n' Santa.jpg

THANKS, SANTA (even though we lost on Christmas Eve)!

My brother got to sit on Santa's lap, too.
Eric n' Santa.jpg

But the real fun was watching my nephew Kai try to figure Santa out.
Kai n' Santa.jpg

Here's a picture of Ward and Joan, Amy's (my brother's fiance) parents.
Ward Joan and I.jpg

Thanks, Ward and Joan, for a great great great Christmas day!!!

I was really touched this year by how seriously everyone took Louise. I know some people think, "Oh, what's the big deal? She's just a dog..."

Those people suck. Louise is WAY more than "just a dog" to me. She's a soul who makes me happy each and every day.

Seeing my family embrace her the way they do melts my heart. Eric and Amy got her a fancy pink Coach collar! My mom wrapped presents under the tree for her, including snacks and a new pink shawl! My mom's best friend Boni got her doggie bones, a picture frame, and a neat-o travel bowl! Ward and Joan had a stocking hanging with her name on it full of goodies! I love love love that my family takes our bond seriously. It's a good feeling.

In other news...

Today's blog would have been up WAY sooner but I was having computer issues. My computer wouldn't turn on and - for the life of me - I couldn't figure out what the problem was. "Stupid piece of crap" (Only I didn't say "stupid" or "crap").

After about a half an hour of trying to figure it out I realized it wasn't plugged in.

Oopsies!

Until tomorrow, gang!
Ross

... MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, BLOG BUDDIES!!!

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Whether you celebrate Christmas or something else or nothing at all, have a great day today!

I'm going down to spend Christmas day with the parents of my brother's fiance (Amy).

Last night we had a mini-celebration at my mom's with friends, family, neighbors, etc. It was SO MUCH FUN!

Before the party, I spent the day madly shopping for gifts. I had a lot of the "big" gifts sent to my mom's house before I got here, but I needed a bunch of "littles". I think I did pretty well! Here I am wrapping gifts yesterday afternoon (just a by-the-way, I'm wrapping a paper towel holder in paper towels - pretty fancy, huh?):
R WRAPPING XMAS.jpg

Here's my nephew, Kai, opening a Seahawks jersey and sweatshirt from my mom:
K SEAHAWKS XMAS.jpg

We're a Seahawks family and, even though they lost yesterday, we're proud fans. Here's Kai with my brother Eric (his dad) and Eric's fiance Amy:
AEK XMAS.jpg

Then my Uncle Kenny and Aunt Carol came over to visit. Uncle Kenny and my dad are responsible for teaching me how to be funny - they were wickedly funny together.
EKCRL XMAS.jpg

Louise was a paw-fect little Christmas dog-ter last night. In fact, she scored a BUNCH of GREAT presents! Here we are in front of the tree:
LR XMAS TREE.jpg

It was SO nice to be back home with my family. Christmas has always been a time for us to pull together as a "unit" and celebrate life. Last night was no different.
MER XMAS.jpg

How was YOUR Christmas Eve? What are YOU doing today?

Have a great day, blog buddies!
Ross

7:30am: Woke up. Walked Louise. Ate breakfast.
8:00am: Showered.
8:30am: Got coffee.
9:00am: Began the process of trying to do all my holiday shopping for all the people in my family in just a few hours. Otherwise known as Mission Impossible.
Noon: Kicked Mission Impossible's ass. Finished ALL my shopping.
Noon thirty: Wrapped presents like a mo-fo.
1:00pm: Started watching the Seahawks game with the fam.
2:30pm: Wrote this blog.

What's next? Drinking. Eating. Opening presents. Frickin' loving the holidays.

Have a great day, blog buddies! Pictures tomorrow!
Ross

... in just a couple hours, blog buddies!

Happy Saturday/the day before the day before Christmas!

I'm in a total rush. I have to leave for the airport in 30 minutes and my clothes are still in the dryer. After a full cycle on the "high heat" setting, the load still wasn't dry. That's probably because I put about 15 pounds of whites and colors combined in the same load trying to save time.

It turns out that doesn't work. Not only might some of my clothes get ruined, it takes like 4 times longer for a large load to dry than a teeny tiny load. Of course, had I planned ahead and done all this yesterday, it wouldn't be an issue.

To my credit, however, I was busy the last 2 days filming Celebrity Fit Club. That and I'm a total procrastinator.

Speaking of, I'm totally running late!!! I have to gather my toiletries and get Louise's stuff together before my clothes dry and I'm off in a hurry to the airport to catch my flight up to Washington State to spend the holidays with my family.

Don't worry blog buddies - the rest of the world may get baby Jesus's b'day off, but I'll be blogging like it's any other Monday (in between eating and opening presents and thanking baby Jesus and eating some more). In fact, I'll be blogging the entire time I'm gone (until Jan. 3rd), so keep checking back here every day!

Okay. I'm SERIOUSLY late. Ooopsies!

Until tomorrow!
Ross

Happy Friday, blog buddies!!!

I am in SUCH a rush. I spent yesterday shooting a "fit camp" for Celebrity Fit Club and today we're shooting the weigh-in ceremony. I have no idea when I'm going to get the crap I need to get done before I leave tomorrow for Washington State to spend the holidays with my family. Things like laundry, packing, sleeping, etc...

Oh well! I'm sure everything will work out.

To be honest, the thing I'm freaking out about the most is that fact that I still have a BUNCH of people to get gifts for and NO time to do it.

So this is my question for you: is getting someone a gift card tacky?

I can't decide. I mean, a gift is a gift is a gift, right? So who cares if it's a gift card, right? But then I think, the whole point of a gift is essentially saying, "I saw THIS and thought of YOU."

I'm worried a gift card might say, "I thought of YOU, freaked OUT that I had NOTHING, so I just got THIS to shut YOU up. Happy Holidays!"

But then again, I love love love getting gift cards. Hmm...

What are YOUR thoughts?

Okay. I seriously seriously seriously have to run.
Until tomorrow!
Ross

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

REMINDER!!! I'm on The Tonight Show this Wednesday. Don't forget to watch!

I'm finally back from Palm Springs and have returned to normal life (minus Starbucks). I was seriously in fantasy land all weekend. Not only was I having an amazing time eating and drinking and winning trivia games at the local bar with my best friend Kim, but I was also day dreaming the entire trip about me as an older gentleman.

I picture myself in 40 years being a "silver fox" with shiny gray hair and an amazing tan. I think I'll either run for mayor of Palm Springs or open a nightclub called Silver Fox where I'll do a nightly show called "Silver Fox Live" so I can tell stories about my days in Hollywood and sing songs. Or maybe I'll do both.

Picture me sitting on stage in a floral kimono under perfect lighting as I answer the audience's questions, saying "s" like "sh" and referring to myself in the 3rd person.

"Yes, dear. You with the pretty red dress?"

"Hi, Silver Fox. Can you please tell us the Elizabeth Taylor story?"

"Oh honey, that story is as old as that hair do. (Wait for laughter) But sure, Silver Fox will tell you that story."

And then, after I tell the story, I'll burst into song. Maybe something like Moon River or a jazzed up version of Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Or not. Whatever. But it'll be genius and I'll be happy and I will live out my golden years as the Silver Fox.

Where was I...? Oh yes... Sorry. I got carried away.

In other news...

It's THAT time, blog buddies! Time to announce October's BLOGGER OF THE MONTH.

You voted and now I'm proud to announce that October's BLOGGER OF THE MONTH is...

MIKEY SANTA CRUZ
BLOGGER OF THE MONTH
OCTOBER, 2006

BotM Mikey.jpg

The votes were overwhelmingly in support of Mikey Santa Cruz and I feel that he absolutely deserves this honor - he posts positive comments every day and is always in the CHAT ROOM to welcome newbies and keep up with the regulars.

Congrats Mike Santa Cruz! Enjoy your month as our BLOGGER OF THE MONTH!

In his own words...

Hi I'm Mikey also known on the blog and in the chat room as MikeySantaCruz. OMG. I want to thank everyone who voted for me - what a great early birthday present. As most of you know I am HIV positive. When I found out I had HIV/AIDS two years ago, I had full blown AIDS. Now, two years later I'm only HIV+. I write for and co-edit an HIV/AIDS site along with the Gay Guru. My goal in life right now is to educate those who have and don't have HIV/AIDS about what it's like living with the disease. On a personal note, I would like to thank Ross, his friend Jackie Beat, and everyone else from the blog and the chat room who have donated to their local HIV/AIDS foundations.

Here’s how I found the ROSS BLOG: I heard that Rosie O' Donnell was going to be on "The Tonight Show" back in April. So there I was sitting in my room watching Rosie and they showed Ross sitting in the audience wearing one of Rosie's "go blog urself" shirts. When I heard they both blogged, I wanted to put both of their sites on my sidebar. I found Rosie's the first night but it took me a few days to find the ROSS BLOG. On April 22 of this year I found the ROSS BLOG. I even did a posting on my blog about finding the ROSS BLOG. Ever since then I have been hooked on Ross, his blog and the chat room. I have also found so much love, support, and good friends threw Ross's blog and the chat room. Ross also always makes me laugh. Someone once said that laughter is the best medicine. I truly believe that. Thank you Ross for always making me laugh!

Until tomorrow, gang!

Ross ~ welcome home and back to reality. :)

Hi Ross and Bloggers!

OMG, I have tears in my eyes for my friend Mikey. He is such a sweet and caring person and to know that he is being recognized as BotM will mean a lot to him. You ROCK Mikey, hon!

Ross, your daydream of your future TV show totally sounds like the kind of TV I grew up with. Dean Martin, Bob Hope, all the older guys with suits and cigarettes and a drink in their hands... women dancing around in dresses like they raided June Cleavers wardrobe... I can totally see you as the Silver Fox! The kimono is the only part that threw me, but HEY whatever you choose will be good!

Annie~ The Bears got lucky that Alexander was injured. That's all I can say my friend.

I cannot wait for Wednesday night!! Gigglefest!! YEAH!

I could see you now Ross, AKA Silver Fox. LOL!
Big congratultions to you Mikey! I can still call you Mikey, right? Or is that Mr. Santa Cruz to me?! :P

Glynis - Oh no. My TV show will be when I'm younger. The "Silver Fox Live" show isn't on TV. It's after I've retired and it's a lounge show at the Silver Fox Restaurant and Bar in Palm Springs (which, of course, doesn't yet exist but will when I'm mayor and in my late 60's). Make sense now? :)
Ross

Congrats Mikey!!!!!

LMBO Ross. Let us know when you open your club, so we can all be in the audience of your show, sipping our drinks "remembering the good ol' days"

Congrats, Mikeydoodle! For some reason I thought you were around before that episode of TTS you mentioned. Have a great day!

Glad you had a fun weekend, Ross!

G ~ I disagree.

:)

Hey Ross, if you open a nightclub in Palm Springs.. can I be your bouncer?
You can never be too careful :)
I've got references to from my days of doing celeb muscle in LA..

Mikey.. congratulations honey.. for all you do in real life and the fun on the blog and chat room that you bring, you are the perfect BOTM..
We'll get that tiara to you as soon as whoever had it last digs it up!
welcome to the club..
hugs,
biscy

Today:

Signing up for E.I.P.= 3 months of medical benes.

Being a BOTM = Priceless!!

ROFLMAO at Daria

Thanks again everyone

ROSS-Your daydream was hilarious!! Why am I envisioning Nathan Lane or Robin Williams' character from The Birdcage?! ROFLMAO..Sorry, the kimono and the club atmosphere just flashed through my head!

Mikey-You are such a great friend, and I'm glad we've all gotten to know you over the last few months!
LMAO@Daria!

congrats Mikey! I don't make it in the chat room very often, but you've made me feel welcome!

Ross, sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Now you're back to REALITY! Looking forward to seeing you on TTS Wed. night!

Hi to all from HOT Kansas! After a month or so of cooler weather, we hit 97 yesterday! It's about the same today. I'M READY FOR FALL!

And STINKIN' hot is is Linda! Wow!!!! Maybe I better quit burning my Indian Summer candle...LOL!

oo! oo! I think I would make a better "Gracie" than a "Cher." Maybe I can at least be the "dear" in "the red dress" at the club?

LOL @ Joey...I too envisioned Nathan Lane from The Birdcage, except without the wig, the lipstick and eye makeup...LOL!!!! LOVED that movie!!!

I forgot to put that last part Linda! We all know that the genius drag persona is JackieBeat NOT Ross!

The first statement was meant to be comedy and not stated for any other purpose! ! LMAO..Thanks!

Congrat's Mikey. That is so neat that you are blogger of the month.
Ross, I'm glad you are home too. So glad you had a good time. I like trivia but I'm not very good at it. It's fun to make up the answers. LOL They can be funnier than the real one. LOL

Congrats, Mikey!!! :)

Ross-ola, I can totally see you as a newer version of George Hamlion (sp?). Too dang funny!!!

Hugs to ya,
Sarah

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-OH!
Well, duh. What was I thinking?

um I have had that Scott Thompson skit from "kids in the hall" in my head all day now thinking of ross telling stories of "old hollywood"
Oh ross, tell us about Xtina!? please!
I love KITH..

Ross: I love the lounge lizard idea! So funny! I'm totally there!

Mikey: My new friend! I am so happy for you! I will have to put something special on your page!

"I'm going to need a bigger blog!!!"

Baawaa

YAY mikey, I am so pleased, definitly deserved. But aren't you in your 40s?
We need to explain to Ross that you don't become a silver fox until well into your 50s, 40s are still the handsome stud stage.
So Ross unless you plan on dying your hair gray you are going to have to wait atleast until your 50s to be a silver fox, unless your gentics is such that your family goes gray early.

congrats mikeyfromsantacruz!

how cool that ur blogger of the month. i looked back thru ross's blog to see who else got blogger of the month. it looks like its a really neat collection of people.

im curious tho

how does one become blogger of the month? i mean, from those who have won, what advice do u have for us (mere civilians hehe)?

is it silly that i kinda really want to win someday? ne1 else wanna win, 2?

again, congrats mikeyfromsantacruz. make us proud!

DoubleR

Hy- Ross' dad went gray in his 30's! Starting in his 20's! But I think Ross is thinking about 40 years down the road.

doubleR,
just be around, be fun.. and you too could get the tarnished tiara..
you can read all about the BOTM process if you click the link ross has on his post.. Basically, people send in the names of the blogger they think should be the BOTM.. and then.. ya have one..
so hang around a lil more and as the really bad bridget fonda/nic cage/rosie perez movie says "it could happen to you"
later tater

'bout time my homie mikey been shown some props! LOL congrats mike-a-reeno!

Awww, Mikey, my love, Congrats!! I'm thrilled that you are the newest BoTM--you are such a good person, warm, welcoming, and fun, and I can't think of a more fitting BoTM than you! Big sloppy wet kisses to ya!!!

Group Grope in honor of Mikey!! (((((grope)))))

The BOTM gets a tiara? Dang Mikey, you will have to use less goop on your hair for the video or we won't be able to see the shiny jewels! hugs to you my dear!

Congradulations Mikey!!!! I remember when I first went into the chat room you were one of the first people to say hello to me and strike up a conversation. Honest to God, if you hadn't talked to me I would have left and never come back.

Congrats to Mikey!!! You rock, dude!!

So, Silver Fox, will I have to make reservations? Will there be a cover charge? And most importantly, what drink specials will you have?

Cant waite to see you on wend!!! #1 fan from Puerto Rico!!!

Congrats, Mikey!

I have to tell you Ross, when you said you would be on stage in a floral kimono, I had a flash of you all dressed in drag (channeling Liz Taylor, maybe?) ;) Now, that's a show I would PAY to see!

Mikey-Wear that tiara proudly!!

Congrats to Mikey-- You deserve it!

Ross, so glad that you had an awesome time in PS with Kim this weekend!

Just an odd question-- Why are some names in blue with their name and some like mine are black?

Hey Rose-In the "post a comment" box, where you typed that..LOL..You'll see URL! You can put a link back to your myspace, or your blog, or leave it blank(you'll be black then)!

Ross dubbed it "smurfy" back in the beginning when you link back to your site, making your name show up in clickable blue!

Come on get smurfy with us!! LMAO
Oh and that's not an odd ? (hehe)

Mom: Missed you in chat tonight! How was the first day of Homecoming?

Thanks so much Joey
just put in myspace link in the URL to see if I'm smurfy blue

Good morning fellow bloggers! I've missed you all in chat lately... :-(

Happy Tuesday Ross and Bloggers

MOM_ross- I hope your not tiring yourself out with home coming We missed you in chat last night.

Hey

It's a bit late but, Congradulations Mikey :)

hey bisc-i am cracking up at the idea of you being the bouncer at the silver fox...i think Ross should let you do it under one condition--that you wear the solid gold jumpsuit. and then, i get to be the old woman wearing a sparkly red dress with lots of sequins on it who is always holding a cigarette holder and puffing on it, but there's never a cigarette in it. and i get to play the grand piano in the corner to accent Ross' stories, and from time to time he sits and/or leans on the piano.

sigh. i love daydreaming....

xoxo,
daria

Daria..
you are ON!

and I will wear the glasses with the little rope thing attached so that I will always know where they are! Do those have a name?
question is where is YOU photo of you in the sparkly red dress now??? I see a ross photoshop event in your future!

Daria-You and biscuit are cracking me up! Great visual there Daria! I just had a vision of the Will and Grace episode where Will lays across the piano and Karen forces him to sing!! LMAO..I think he sang I HONESTLY LOVE YOU!

Mikey, CONGRATULATIONS! You deserve a six pack of notoriety! (oopsie,is that the correct spelling?)

Joey, You are always so helpful and humorous. LMAO

Fellow Blog Buddies, Have a wonderful Tuesday and DON'T FORGET that today is Part 3 of Oprah and Gayle's Big Adventure. Don't want to miss it!!! ;-)

Wow Kyle Chandler is on MARTHA today yahoo(Joey!!! you didn't tell me???)

Happy Tuesday Peeps!

Mikey how's your tiara fitting, hon? Sorry I didn't make it to chat last night to "celebrate" your new reign.

Hugs all around.

joey, you are hilarious! LOVE the Olivia link!

Hey bisc, i took you up on your challenge, check out my smurfy link!!!

xoxo,
daria

OMG DARIA I peeked.
LOVE you in the red dress, girl. Awesome.
Hey that was fast!

thanks, specialgirlshari...i come from a bit of a photoshop background, so i have an unfair advantage as resident computer nerd here at the show! ;)

xoxo,
daria

OK, OK, can't help but jump in on this one! Let's totally populate the Silver Fox with our piano bar alter egos! So far, we have Ross, Bis, and Daria visualized... so where would I fit in? Sitting at the bar, a little (later on, a lot) tipsy, begging Ross for Rogers and Hammerstein show tunes!

Where would YOU be? And what would YOU be doing?

If Daria gets to play the piano, then I get to be the ba dum bum **ting** drummer afer all of Ross's one liners! Because that is about as musical as I get. And I don't smoke.

Can I sit next t'ya Whab? !!!

I'll hold ya up when you get really really tipsy and help you think of more songs.
I'll have some stunning polyester outfit on or some stretch jeans with some embellished top. heheh I can picture it now!

we got JEN SQUARED behind the bar!!! mixologist extraordinaire!

I wanna be the resident barfly...a la Karen on Will and Grace. I will be the constant fixture, legs crossed, perched on the barstool, asking the bartender (who I will randomly call "Smitty") "what it's all about"...and if you are not a Will and Grace watcher, this scenario makes absolutely no sense to you...

Trish a/k/a Anastasia Beaverhausen

Hmmmm....I will be the old woman sitting at the piano bar asking for the next tune. Of course, I will be off key because my hearing aid is not working properly and is bugging everyone with a high pitched whistle telling me I need new batteries. Berry will be by my side, but will have his laptop with him so he can continue to be a computer nerd late into old age. (And I think by then his glasses will be thicker than any coke bottle ever made.)

LMAO @ ALL OF YOU. what a bunch we are, eh?

Glynis, the hearing aid whistle is a nice touch!!

Daria-Are you canadian now?('eh?)...LMAO

Click HERE to hear your theme song Daria!
It is the instrumental version played on a flute, so that Ross can sing it when you make your grand entrance!! LMAO

Shari-I had no clue about Kyle Chandler either! LOL

Early Edition was a great show though!

CONGRATS!!! u totally deserve this honor..love ya much

Mom, Sorry but I don't know how to video blog yet. I would love for us all to meet for a karaoke night, though, and then I'd show you my Happy Dance! :)

BTW, I LOVED Early Edition too. (And I enjoy Kyle C.)
