The Ross Blog

... and I don't really have anything to write about.

Oh well!!!

I hope ya'll have a wonderful day, blog buddies!

I'm running out the door to go on a long walk with my best friend Taya, my mom and my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise. It's sunny outside and we're gonna walk along the river. I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow. Fun!

I HEART VACATION!!!
Ross

PS - GO SEE Dreamgirls!!! I went to see it last night and LOVED it! It's 90% perfect! Some songs are a little long and a couple should have been cut completely (in my humble opinion), but it's GREAT. Two words: Jennifer Hudson!!! She's UNREAL. And everyone esle is GREAT, too. GO SEE IT!!!

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

It's dark and cloudy and rainy and ugly here in Washington State and I'm loving every minute of it! It's SUCH a nice change to come up here from sunny Southern California to spend some time with my family. So far, we've just been hanging out, going shopping, blah blah blah.

Tonight I'm FINALLY going to see the movie sensation I've been DYING to see FOREVER - Dreamgirls. Expect a full report tomorrow.

I've got to tell you a funny story. Yesterday I went to the gym in town. Sure, it may be the holidays and I may be way up here in Washington State, but Celebrity Fit Club stops for no one and they'll still be weighing me in front of America when I get back home to LA. So I've been TOTALLY watching what I've been eating and TOTALLY working out.

Anyway, yesterday I went to the local gym in town and guess who I ran into. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. I ran into Mr. Nelson, my elementary school gym teacher! Isn't that kind of funny? I was THRILLED I ran into him at the gym and not at McDonald's or a bar or something. He's still the gym teacher at my old elementary school and he looks great. Maybe there's something to this working out thing...

On another note...

Last night I went out on the town with my best friend Taya. If you read the blog regularly, you know who Taya is. We went to high school together and speak on the phone about 8 times a day. Taya lived with me for a year in LA right after college, but moved back to Washington State a few years ago and I miss her like CRAZY. So when I come into town, we hang out kinda non-stop.

Last night we decided to go a couple bars around town for a quick drink. Here we are at a cute bar in LaConner (I forget the name of the bar - oopsies!).
RT Toast.jpg

Isn't Taya cute?!?

The 2nd bar we stopped by is Althea's in Mount Vernon. And you'll never believe what night it was. Guess. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. It was open mic night. IT IS ON! You may or may not know that I have the voice of an angel. Well, so does Taya. In fact, we have a little band called Common Ground and we shared a gift with those lucky enough to be at Althea's last night. We shared the gift of song.
RT Open Mic Night.jpg

We were AMAZING!!!

After our fantastic performance, we walked down the street to another bar called The Doublewide. Guess what we found there. Guess. Guess. You'll never guess, so I'll just tell you. We found the COOLEST jukebox I've ever seen!!! It actually downloads the songs like iTunes or something. Seriously! So you just search an artist's name and it gives you all their albums and you pick any of their songs. SO COOL!
RT Amazing Juke Box.jpg

After putting $5 in the jukebox and picking a ton of songs, Taya and I finished the evening off with class, grace and style. We slow danced!!!

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Did ya'll have a great Christmas/holiday/Monday yesterday?!? Didya didya? I certainly did!

I went down to my brother's fiance's parents house to celebrate the big day with my mom and we had a GREAT time! In fact, Santa himself was there to greet us as we walked in!

Here's Santa and Louise:
Louise n' Santa.jpg

She looks a little scared of the big guy, don't you think?

Santa brought me a Seahawks hat!!!!
Ross n' Santa.jpg

THANKS, SANTA (even though we lost on Christmas Eve)!

My brother got to sit on Santa's lap, too.
Eric n' Santa.jpg

But the real fun was watching my nephew Kai try to figure Santa out.
Kai n' Santa.jpg

Here's a picture of Ward and Joan, Amy's (my brother's fiance) parents.
Ward Joan and I.jpg

Thanks, Ward and Joan, for a great great great Christmas day!!!

I was really touched this year by how seriously everyone took Louise. I know some people think, "Oh, what's the big deal? She's just a dog..."

Those people suck. Louise is WAY more than "just a dog" to me. She's a soul who makes me happy each and every day.

Seeing my family embrace her the way they do melts my heart. Eric and Amy got her a fancy pink Coach collar! My mom wrapped presents under the tree for her, including snacks and a new pink shawl! My mom's best friend Boni got her doggie bones, a picture frame, and a neat-o travel bowl! Ward and Joan had a stocking hanging with her name on it full of goodies! I love love love that my family takes our bond seriously. It's a good feeling.

In other news...

Today's blog would have been up WAY sooner but I was having computer issues. My computer wouldn't turn on and - for the life of me - I couldn't figure out what the problem was. "Stupid piece of crap" (Only I didn't say "stupid" or "crap").

After about a half an hour of trying to figure it out I realized it wasn't plugged in.

Oopsies!

Until tomorrow, gang!
Ross

... MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, BLOG BUDDIES!!!

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Whether you celebrate Christmas or something else or nothing at all, have a great day today!

I'm going down to spend Christmas day with the parents of my brother's fiance (Amy).

Last night we had a mini-celebration at my mom's with friends, family, neighbors, etc. It was SO MUCH FUN!

Before the party, I spent the day madly shopping for gifts. I had a lot of the "big" gifts sent to my mom's house before I got here, but I needed a bunch of "littles". I think I did pretty well! Here I am wrapping gifts yesterday afternoon (just a by-the-way, I'm wrapping a paper towel holder in paper towels - pretty fancy, huh?):
R WRAPPING XMAS.jpg

Here's my nephew, Kai, opening a Seahawks jersey and sweatshirt from my mom:
K SEAHAWKS XMAS.jpg

We're a Seahawks family and, even though they lost yesterday, we're proud fans. Here's Kai with my brother Eric (his dad) and Eric's fiance Amy:
AEK XMAS.jpg

Then my Uncle Kenny and Aunt Carol came over to visit. Uncle Kenny and my dad are responsible for teaching me how to be funny - they were wickedly funny together.
EKCRL XMAS.jpg

Louise was a paw-fect little Christmas dog-ter last night. In fact, she scored a BUNCH of GREAT presents! Here we are in front of the tree:
LR XMAS TREE.jpg

It was SO nice to be back home with my family. Christmas has always been a time for us to pull together as a "unit" and celebrate life. Last night was no different.
MER XMAS.jpg

How was YOUR Christmas Eve? What are YOU doing today?

Have a great day, blog buddies!
Ross

7:30am: Woke up. Walked Louise. Ate breakfast.
8:00am: Showered.
8:30am: Got coffee.
9:00am: Began the process of trying to do all my holiday shopping for all the people in my family in just a few hours. Otherwise known as Mission Impossible.
Noon: Kicked Mission Impossible's ass. Finished ALL my shopping.
Noon thirty: Wrapped presents like a mo-fo.
1:00pm: Started watching the Seahawks game with the fam.
2:30pm: Wrote this blog.

What's next? Drinking. Eating. Opening presents. Frickin' loving the holidays.

Have a great day, blog buddies! Pictures tomorrow!

... in just a couple hours, blog buddies!

Happy Saturday/the day before the day before Christmas!

I'm in a total rush. I have to leave for the airport in 30 minutes and my clothes are still in the dryer. After a full cycle on the "high heat" setting, the load still wasn't dry. That's probably because I put about 15 pounds of whites and colors combined in the same load trying to save time.

It turns out that doesn't work. Not only might some of my clothes get ruined, it takes like 4 times longer for a large load to dry than a teeny tiny load. Of course, had I planned ahead and done all this yesterday, it wouldn't be an issue.

To my credit, however, I was busy the last 2 days filming Celebrity Fit Club. That and I'm a total procrastinator.

Speaking of, I'm totally running late!!! I have to gather my toiletries and get Louise's stuff together before my clothes dry and I'm off in a hurry to the airport to catch my flight up to Washington State to spend the holidays with my family.

Don't worry blog buddies - the rest of the world may get baby Jesus's b'day off, but I'll be blogging like it's any other Monday (in between eating and opening presents and thanking baby Jesus and eating some more). In fact, I'll be blogging the entire time I'm gone (until Jan. 3rd), so keep checking back here every day!

Okay. I'm SERIOUSLY late. Ooopsies!

Until tomorrow!
Ross

Happy Friday, blog buddies!!!

I am in SUCH a rush. I spent yesterday shooting a "fit camp" for Celebrity Fit Club and today we're shooting the weigh-in ceremony. I have no idea when I'm going to get the crap I need to get done before I leave tomorrow for Washington State to spend the holidays with my family. Things like laundry, packing, sleeping, etc...

Oh well! I'm sure everything will work out.

To be honest, the thing I'm freaking out about the most is that fact that I still have a BUNCH of people to get gifts for and NO time to do it.

So this is my question for you: is getting someone a gift card tacky?

I can't decide. I mean, a gift is a gift is a gift, right? So who cares if it's a gift card, right? But then I think, the whole point of a gift is essentially saying, "I saw THIS and thought of YOU."

I'm worried a gift card might say, "I thought of YOU, freaked OUT that I had NOTHING, so I just got THIS to shut YOU up. Happy Holidays!"

But then again, I love love love getting gift cards. Hmm...

What are YOUR thoughts?

Okay. I seriously seriously seriously have to run.
Until tomorrow!
Ross

Happy happy Saturday, blog buddies!

I have had THE BEST Saturday so far. I got up early, hung out with Louise, got ready, got coffee, and hit the town - IKEA, Target, Linens N' Things...

I didn't find that much stuff (a rug for the kitchen and a little bed for Louise), but it was SO nice to just be out and about shopping and killing time. I've been so busy lately and have missed the mind numbing bliss that comes with wasting money on little things I don't really need.

Last night I went out with my friend Kim to a super-duper fancy place in the Silverlake district of LA. I love going out to nice dinners every once in a while. Don't get me wrong, I get excited about going to Chili's or Denny's, too, but there's something so decadent about indulging in salads with almond crusted goat cheese and halibut with a blood orange sauce - things they don't really make at Chili's (although this fancy place didn't have Chili's famous queso bean dip, so they're sort of even).

I do have a bone to pick with restaurants in LA - it's always SO dark inside! Seriously, I'm always holding a candle up to the menu so I can read it. Yesterday, I got so mad that I vowed to Kim that from now on I'll put a mini flashlight on my key chain and hold it up to my menus without shame. Is this a problem for anyone else?!?

Anyway...

I'm making it my mission to finally see Helen Mirren's film The Queen sometime this weekend. I've been trying to see it for weeks to no avail, but I refuse to go another weekend without seeing what all the buzz is about. I also plan on seeing some other films during my week off next week (The Tonight Show is on hiatus).

Okay. I have nothing exceptional or exciting to report today. I'm just thrilled to not be on a plane or on the other side of the country or working working working. I'm in love with the fact that I'm sitting on my couch right now and watching Psychic Detectives andIdon'tevencare.

Oh - and keep your CELEBRITY POP QUIZ questions coming for Linda Blair! Email them to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com.

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Am I first again?!?

Yes! I have enormous trouble reading menus in dark restaurants. And... it's getting worse, especially over the last few years.

Time for bifocals! :(

Damn those hobbits! Quick little creatures...

Ross sounds like a great day! Today I watched my boys play soccer, cleaned and then relaxed. Tomorrow we are off to a castle and pumpkin patch.

Whabbear-- your posts get funnier and funnier!

And since I posted it at almost the bottom here is yesterday's post:

Ross-- A lot of people have commented on them already but WOWsers to Ms. Gilberts milk makers! It inspires me to want to show off mine while I have em (currently nursing) as they will soon be heading south for more than the winter!

Hillary---I AM A DOOGIE!!!! When I went to college I was 17 and in pre-med and was called Doogie the whole year (33 now and nope not a doctor...lol)

Maggie--The weatherman is sooooo my favorite Ross segment. I love the hand gesture then the comment something like "I shouldn't do that" and then really love the comment that goes something like "the republicans taking over florida"...LOL

Daria--I am very pleased that you guys like the pottery. I just thought you might like a taste from "home" and I thought it would be rude of me to not send something for Ross, since he is who "brought us all together." Thank you very much for that Ross, I really get daily honest out loud laughter from either you or many of the bloggers and usually from both sources!

THANK YOU!!!

Yes, some restaurants are just too dark. By all means take a mini flashlight next time. I also think they make them way too cold in the summer. I can understand that when it is 95 degrees outside with the humidity at 90 %, & people want to go into a place & cool off while eating, it doesn't mean they have to set the A/C at 50 degrees. I can't enjoy my food when I am sitting there shivering. (I usually forget to bring a sweater with me)

Props to you for going all fancy last night. I myself would have chosen the bean dip!

Oopsie I forgot to finish my link for my smurfy blue name on that last comment.

Lol whabbear maybe it's because I shave the hair off my feet.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......Hairy Feet, and B(0)(0)B'S heading South for the Winter....I can see where this blog is headed......Downhill, from here!!!!!!!   NBC Geeks, I am not giving up on the smiley's!!!!!!! :P :P :P

I will be out and about, no search parties Puh-LLeeze!

Ross- I love the silver lake district. My ex and I stayed with friends who lived there when we were thinking about moving to Cali!! I have a light on my key ring that looks like a spaceship.

Whabbear- You are too funny.

Sung
Kill the hobbit, Kill the hobbit!!

Blogging Hobbit- Congrats on being first!!

JACNY- I was about to put out an Amber Alert for you and most of the other regular chatters!!

Annie- Congrats on doing the link!!

a great saturday

whabbear, if you're my age you'll need more than bifocals! I've had the "progressive lenses" for more years than I care to say and I still need a flashlight!

Meghan, I read your post yesterday and it's still funny today! Your posts always make me giggle. :-)

Mikey, you mean there are times that you aren't goofy?! hugs to u!

Hi Everyone!! I don't know anything about dark restaurants except when the power goes off at McDonald's. Never been to a fancy restaurant except once when I was pregnant with my daughter 19 years ago - - - I think it was dark in there also!! I had a problem with all of the silverware!

But I did get to a movie last week!!!! I saw OPEN SEASON. That was my first "new" cartoon in a theater. I loved it!!! Went with my friend and her two girls. It was only $4.00!!!

My husband is cooking w/oil and I'm waiting to eat dinner. I'll know when the smoke alarm goes off! :) It should be soon cuz my eyes are starting water!!

Wendi

Enjoy your quiet time chillin' this week, Ross. Louise is going to love having you home to spoil her. Psychic Detectives is a good show.
Mikey, you are one jammin' fool! Thanks for sharing your little dance!

Good thing you didn't catch the menu on fire! I hate dark restaurants, I like to see what I'm eating. I have a clip on my keychain that is a flashlight. It works wonders when I'm walking in the dark or when I'm trying to unlock my car in the dark!

I'm still sick, but I finally went to a UI home game, we played our little hearts out against our biggest rivals, Boise State. We totally out played them until the very end, and they ended up winning 42-26 :( But it was sooo much fun, anyone who hasn't been to a college game needs to go!

Happy Saturday to Ross and the blogmates!!!

I've spent all Saturday just bein' a bum except I did manage to grab a shower. Since I'm on the Amish net, I've only now been able to fire up the hamsters. I can't wait to upgrade to Mennonite!!

Oh, how I love IKEA!!! I keep saying I'm gonna go there everytime I go to Dallas, but it hasn't happened yet and this next week doesn't look good either. :(
BTW, my dad is having more eye surg this next week to relieve the pressure in his eye from glaucoma. He's doing pretty well since the initial surg nearly two weeks ago. I'm glad. Thanks to the blog and chat mates who've expressed concern about him.

Mikey---Your Agador Turner routine was a hoot!!! I'm still ROFLMAO!!! Flea or David Gahan have nothihg on you....YOU ROCK!!!!

Keep chillin', y'all!!!

jno

Hey all!

Busy day here. This morning we took the kids to a Halloween breakfast. It was FUN (for the kids anyway). Then we napped, watched Monsters, Inc., bought our Halloween candy and had Sushi for dinner. It was muy excellent!

Oh, and to see a picture of the kids in their Halloween costumes, go to my MySpace and look in my pics. The Lederhosen turned out GREAT!

Later Gators!

official Kuiper Belt Object (KBO)! --- LOL. Thanks for the nomination and all the hellos.

I decided to take another shot at the comment thing. I made a vow not to lurk. so.. here you go.

I would love a day of shopping with no dead line and some tv relaxing. It seems like I always have somewhere to go.

http://maggie.coffeeshopmafia.com

Hey Ross - I'm glad to hear you're taking some "you time" and being carefree! I don't think Kansas has dark restaurants (unless a tornado is passing through and takes the power out) so I can't relate to that problem. If I do happen to be looking for food in the dark, I have the fridge light illuminating the "menu." LOL!!

Our day was spent being lazy bums. I did go buy our dog, Zoe, a shirt and a jacket to keep her warm since it's getting colder and she gets the shivers (she's a little silky terrier - crossbreed of a yorkie and aussie)...LOL I almost bought her a cozy bed too, but decided to pass this time.

Hope you all are having a good weekend!!!!!

And Mikey -

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE DANCE IN THE TINA TURNER-ISH WIG!!!!!! I was literally laughing out loud!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...catching breath now....in the nose, out the mouth...in the nose, out the mouth....

hey there! we've had a pretty laid back day here, too. my biggest adventure was taking both kids (2 years old & 3 months old) to the grocery store by myself. it's always a good time when my two year old starts throwing frozen food items out of our cart and at the other shoppers...

Ross, someone probably already told you this, but last night I was watching CNN and it went by on the ticker about you and Melissa Gilbert eating dog food.

Ross, I was soooo excited when I just logged onto AOL and found your picture of you and Melissa Gilbert eating dog food..LOL

Sounds like you had a great day!!! Have a super Sunday too!!!

Hey gang!

I cannot cannot cannot believe that CNN, yahoo and AOL (in addition to some news papers around the country) are reporting that story about Melissa Gilbert and I eating dog food! Who would have thought that THAT would be what finally got me some press?!?

I'm hanging in tonight doing laundry and cleaning house. Fun!

Ross

PS - Where's Glynis?!? Should we put out an Amber Alert for her?!?

That is triple awesome Ross!!! Who'da thunk?

Ross, didn't your mom ever feed you? Geez....

Hi Ross,

Sounds like fun..
I love shopping!
also on line..
Ross , its so true about the darkness at restaurants
i dont like that
its down right RUDE
and i cant see the menu!
I like to make sure my fork is clean too...laughing

BRING THE MINI FLASHLIGHT

smiles &peace
have a fab fab fab SUNDAY

Debbie

Lemon Deb - Your posts remind me of how it feels to sail! Sun, sea, breezes, waves, fresh air. Thanks/Peace Keep them coming. I do enjoy them.

Lol @ Mom_Ross! Has your headache gone away yet? I hope so.

I hate those dark restaurants! I have a hard enough time seeing as it is! I have a credit card-size thing that has a magnifying glass in it. My mom got it for me from QVC. I carry it with me everywhere. It even has a light in it, so it's perfect for those dark places with small print menus. I may look a little silly but I'm tired of ordering the same thing, only because it's all I remember from the menu. That's what I used to do b4 I got this card.

Hope you're all having a good weekend! Mine has been peaceful and restful. We did go out for a brief time this morning for my daughter's soccer game, which we named "Mud Bowl '06"! The field was so GROSS, and the kids were a mess when the game was over. They all thought it was great though. Thank goodness for Zout!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend eveyone!

Thanks Hobbit - Just the cold leftovers - yechy draining, cough, etc. But tomorrow should be much better!! How are you doing?

Silly pj--Thanks for giggling. this place always makes me giggle and I am glad to pass it along.

Mom Ross--never heard them called "cold leftovers" before, I will be stealing that phrase and sooooo using it. Glad you are on the tail end though!

Ross-- Do they mention your blogg in any of the press??? I am waiting to say hello to the flood!

ROFLMAO@MOM_ross

mom_ross,
thanks for your comments on my blog!
Ross, I HATE dark restaurants.. it is so annoying to not only not be able to read the menu, but to not be able to see what you are reading! argh... My cell phone has a flashlight in it, so that helps with the menu part, fortnately. We have one favorite restaurant that is well a little pricey, so we go on special occasions and just every once in a while when we want a treat. there is something a lil naughty about it!
just got back from a 50's/60's party in our neighborhood. it was the perfect weather.. had a nice fire goin.. dancin, food.. LOTS of fun!
Have a nice haitus! Hope you got my message about the show! Wish I could go with ya! Happy sunday everyone

****Amber Alert****

Where are the Beegees and Joey?

LOL @ Mom_ross about Ross getting fed.

Agador/Mikey---The Beegees and Joey? Sounds like a new "lite rock" band. And if they were a band, they could be out on tour......or not.

LOL @ JFK's 2 y/o throwing frozen food @ other shoppers.
****DUCK!!!! incoming frozen peas & carrots!!!****
Oh, my!!! Gotta love them there chilluns!!

from your sleep-deprived, fun-loving bum,
jno

P.S.: Have a wonderful Sunday, peeps!!

LOL @ myself...
I thought that Mikey's wig was Ozzy Osbourne until the music started playing.

JNO - I live near Dallas but have never been to Ikea. My mom has to have eye surgery next week also. I posted a comment to you about my website yesterday. I don't have a "contact me" thing because I am not that bright but if you leave a comment then I will email you back. I am glad that you are going to get Mennonite internet (can't believe I said that and people remember).

What ever happened to Joey with the Amish internet?

dammy

OMG, Mikey! Laughed my ass off at the video.

But I feel the need to confirm something. You don't have Jody Foster trapped in a pumped-out well below the shop, right? Right?

Whabbear- It put's the lotion on it's skin or it get's the hose again!! LMAO

LOL @ Whab & Mikey's Hannibal reference!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!

I'm still laughing!!!!!!
