Happy Friday, blog buddies!

I'm still in Charlotte North Carolina shooting a Tonight Show segment learning how to work in the pit crew for NASCAR.

So, umm... I kinda thought that being in the pit crew would involve, like, changing a couple tires and sitting around until the car came in for an oil change or something, but I couldn't have been more wrong. These people have to be in serious shape - they exercise all day, do agility tests, and practice changing 4 tires on a race car in about 12 seconds over and over and over and over again.

Here I am trying one of the agility tests (throwing a ball with your back against a wall - I'm not sure what this tests, but I was good at it, so I didn't care).

Then it was time to really get to work on one of the cars. Here I am trying to put on a tire.

Okay. Those tires look like no biggie, but they weigh almost 70 pounds and are probably the reason why I can barely move this morning.

Here I am using the jack on the car in a position that the pit crew calls "the jack man". Every time they say it, I giggle.

We had an hour and a half break in the middle of the day and didn't know what to do or where to go to kill some time. But after the guys on my crew and I got into the van and drove around for a few minutes, it became very clear where we were going...

I was thrilled - the ladies love me!!!

I can't help it!

Then it was time to go back to the pit crew place and "race" against another pit crew members as we each took the lugnuts off the tires. Here I am after the race - I'm not excited because I won, I'm excited because I didn't lose by that much.

After a long day of shooting, it was time to hop into the van and drive back to the hotel. Yesterday I posted pictures of all the guys on my crew except for AC (our production assistant). I promised you I'd force him to take a picture for the blog and I kept my promise. Here's AC:

Hooters.. they have the BEST wings .. at least that's what all the guys tell me:) (insert big wink here!)
I've hung out in a hooter or two.... but really their wings aren't that great..

I used to eat at Hooters for lunch when I lived in San Antonio. I even had a pair of shorts with "Hooters" embroidered on them. Tee hee! (Side note: I would eat there with my male boss - so I wasn't there to check out the girls.) They do have good food though!!

Now we're in the van again enroute (is that how you spell that? It looks weird) to another shooting location.

I'm obsessed with listerine strips. Obsessed! I spent most of the morning searching for a place that sells them. For some reason, not every gas station or convienence store sells them. Why I'll never know.

I'm obsessed with them because I talk to so so many people and many of them have horrible horrible breath. It's just a precaution.

Ross, There was this segment on Rachel Ray yesterday where this woman loved the color pink so much that she even dyed her dog pink!!! Hmmm.....have you ever thought about dying Louise your favorite color? LOL
All of this womans clothes were even pink, or at least it looked that way. The convergence module or something like that is screwed up on our big screen and they said it will cost about $175 to fix. OUCH!!!

Hope you not to "stiff" tomorrow morning from all of your tire changing!!!

Oprah comes on in 25 minutes here, so I'll be sure to kick my kid off of Nickelodeon by then. LOL!!

BTW Ross - I'm so glad you worry about fresh breath, because OBVIOUSLY there are many others out there that don't. Those strips are awesome (and sinus cleansing too) !!

Gaynor-I'm from Winona, about 2 hours south of Minneapolis. Now I live in Ca, but I've been thinking about all the beautiful fall colors there. It snowed there the other day so I'm glad I'm not there for that! hehe!

Thanks Joey, now I can watch Ellen instead of Oprah (they're on at the same time) since you gave me the 30 second summary of Oprah! And oh, Mrs. eHarmony....I'm thinkin the only reason someone would love the color pink so much is because they can't seem to do a load of whites without a red sock ending up mixed in!! LOL

I actually like Ellen over Oprah. Ellen is a 'HOOT' and a half.

Yesterday I noticed I was using my last roll of receipt paper and I planned to pick some more up at a different branch....I didn't!

HAPPY WEEKEND Everyone!

Hope you've taken plenty of ibuprofen for the muscle aches. Being a firefighter was difficult, but this looks even more strenuous. I bet you've lost weight from all the exercising.

Answering the previous question about the first Ross segment I remember seeing. It was on the red carpet of an awards show, interviewing celebrities as they entered. I don't recall if it was the Emmy's or the Oscar's, but I do recall something negative about George Clooney. My favorite segments are the Torino swap meet with the ice skaters and Steve Irwin with the baby snake in his pocket. I've been suggesting since Torino tha NBC make us a Best of Ross DVD. I'd love one!

You blogged before about loving the cool weather. I bet you're getting a taste of it this week. Just be glad the TTS didn't send you to Buffalo, NY for the October blizzard!

The last pic is such a good example of "the twilight's last gleaming." I'm teaching them "The Star-Spangled Banner" to my first grade class. I'm saving it to print out and show them. Thanks for sharing it! The invitation is still open for the position of Ross the Teaching Assistant.

RATS! my whole post just disappeared! I agree about you needing to take ibuprofen for the muscle aches (unless Biscuit can hook you up with something stronger.)

Which job was more strenuous pit crew or fire fighter? The average person doesn't think about how hard the pit crew must work. So much attention is focused on the driver that his crew is really a group of unsung heroes working in the background.

My memory of Ross' first segment was back in Dec, 2001, when he called me at work, asked me if I was sitting down, and told me they were putting him on the air that day. It was the last day of his intership and I was in total shock.

The shoot went great and I think it'll be a great segment. It turns out I make a pretty damn good pit crew member!
