The Ross Blog

... and I don't really have anything to write about.

Oh well!!!

I hope ya'll have a wonderful day, blog buddies!

I'm running out the door to go on a long walk with my best friend Taya, my mom and my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise. It's sunny outside and we're gonna walk along the river. I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow. Fun!

I HEART VACATION!!!
Ross

PS - GO SEE Dreamgirls!!! I went to see it last night and LOVED it! It's 90% perfect! Some songs are a little long and a couple should have been cut completely (in my humble opinion), but it's GREAT. Two words: Jennifer Hudson!!! She's UNREAL. And everyone esle is GREAT, too. GO SEE IT!!!

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

It's dark and cloudy and rainy and ugly here in Washington State and I'm loving every minute of it! It's SUCH a nice change to come up here from sunny Southern California to spend some time with my family. So far, we've just been hanging out, going shopping, blah blah blah.

Tonight I'm FINALLY going to see the movie sensation I've been DYING to see FOREVER - Dreamgirls. Expect a full report tomorrow.

I've got to tell you a funny story. Yesterday I went to the gym in town. Sure, it may be the holidays and I may be way up here in Washington State, but Celebrity Fit Club stops for no one and they'll still be weighing me in front of America when I get back home to LA. So I've been TOTALLY watching what I've been eating and TOTALLY working out.

Anyway, yesterday I went to the local gym in town and guess who I ran into. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. I ran into Mr. Nelson, my elementary school gym teacher! Isn't that kind of funny? I was THRILLED I ran into him at the gym and not at McDonald's or a bar or something. He's still the gym teacher at my old elementary school and he looks great. Maybe there's something to this working out thing...

On another note...

Last night I went out on the town with my best friend Taya. If you read the blog regularly, you know who Taya is. We went to high school together and speak on the phone about 8 times a day. Taya lived with me for a year in LA right after college, but moved back to Washington State a few years ago and I miss her like CRAZY. So when I come into town, we hang out kinda non-stop.

Last night we decided to go a couple bars around town for a quick drink. Here we are at a cute bar in LaConner (I forget the name of the bar - oopsies!).
RT Toast.jpg

Isn't Taya cute?!?

The 2nd bar we stopped by is Althea's in Mount Vernon. And you'll never believe what night it was. Guess. Guess. Okay, I'll tell you. It was open mic night. IT IS ON! You may or may not know that I have the voice of an angel. Well, so does Taya. In fact, we have a little band called Common Ground and we shared a gift with those lucky enough to be at Althea's last night. We shared the gift of song.
RT Open Mic Night.jpg

We were AMAZING!!!

After our fantastic performance, we walked down the street to another bar called The Doublewide. Guess what we found there. Guess. Guess. You'll never guess, so I'll just tell you. We found the COOLEST jukebox I've ever seen!!! It actually downloads the songs like iTunes or something. Seriously! So you just search an artist's name and it gives you all their albums and you pick any of their songs. SO COOL!
RT Amazing Juke Box.jpg

After putting $5 in the jukebox and picking a ton of songs, Taya and I finished the evening off with class, grace and style. We slow danced!!!

In other news...

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Did ya'll have a great Christmas/holiday/Monday yesterday?!? Didya didya? I certainly did!

I went down to my brother's fiance's parents house to celebrate the big day with my mom and we had a GREAT time! In fact, Santa himself was there to greet us as we walked in!

Here's Santa and Louise:
Louise n' Santa.jpg

She looks a little scared of the big guy, don't you think?

Santa brought me a Seahawks hat!!!!
Ross n' Santa.jpg

THANKS, SANTA (even though we lost on Christmas Eve)!

My brother got to sit on Santa's lap, too.
Eric n' Santa.jpg

But the real fun was watching my nephew Kai try to figure Santa out.
Kai n' Santa.jpg

Here's a picture of Ward and Joan, Amy's (my brother's fiance) parents.
Ward Joan and I.jpg

Thanks, Ward and Joan, for a great great great Christmas day!!!

I was really touched this year by how seriously everyone took Louise. I know some people think, "Oh, what's the big deal? She's just a dog..."

Those people suck. Louise is WAY more than "just a dog" to me. She's a soul who makes me happy each and every day.

Seeing my family embrace her the way they do melts my heart. Eric and Amy got her a fancy pink Coach collar! My mom wrapped presents under the tree for her, including snacks and a new pink shawl! My mom's best friend Boni got her doggie bones, a picture frame, and a neat-o travel bowl! Ward and Joan had a stocking hanging with her name on it full of goodies! I love love love that my family takes our bond seriously. It's a good feeling.

In other news...

Today's blog would have been up WAY sooner but I was having computer issues. My computer wouldn't turn on and - for the life of me - I couldn't figure out what the problem was. "Stupid piece of crap" (Only I didn't say "stupid" or "crap").

After about a half an hour of trying to figure it out I realized it wasn't plugged in.

Oopsies!

Until tomorrow, gang!
Ross

... MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, BLOG BUDDIES!!!

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Whether you celebrate Christmas or something else or nothing at all, have a great day today!

I'm going down to spend Christmas day with the parents of my brother's fiance (Amy).

Last night we had a mini-celebration at my mom's with friends, family, neighbors, etc. It was SO MUCH FUN!

Before the party, I spent the day madly shopping for gifts. I had a lot of the "big" gifts sent to my mom's house before I got here, but I needed a bunch of "littles". I think I did pretty well! Here I am wrapping gifts yesterday afternoon (just a by-the-way, I'm wrapping a paper towel holder in paper towels - pretty fancy, huh?):
R WRAPPING XMAS.jpg

Here's my nephew, Kai, opening a Seahawks jersey and sweatshirt from my mom:
K SEAHAWKS XMAS.jpg

We're a Seahawks family and, even though they lost yesterday, we're proud fans. Here's Kai with my brother Eric (his dad) and Eric's fiance Amy:
AEK XMAS.jpg

Then my Uncle Kenny and Aunt Carol came over to visit. Uncle Kenny and my dad are responsible for teaching me how to be funny - they were wickedly funny together.
EKCRL XMAS.jpg

Louise was a paw-fect little Christmas dog-ter last night. In fact, she scored a BUNCH of GREAT presents! Here we are in front of the tree:
LR XMAS TREE.jpg

It was SO nice to be back home with my family. Christmas has always been a time for us to pull together as a "unit" and celebrate life. Last night was no different.
MER XMAS.jpg

How was YOUR Christmas Eve? What are YOU doing today?

Have a great day, blog buddies!
Ross

7:30am: Woke up. Walked Louise. Ate breakfast.
8:00am: Showered.
8:30am: Got coffee.
9:00am: Began the process of trying to do all my holiday shopping for all the people in my family in just a few hours. Otherwise known as Mission Impossible.
Noon: Kicked Mission Impossible's ass. Finished ALL my shopping.
Noon thirty: Wrapped presents like a mo-fo.
1:00pm: Started watching the Seahawks game with the fam.
2:30pm: Wrote this blog.

What's next? Drinking. Eating. Opening presents. Frickin' loving the holidays.

Have a great day, blog buddies! Pictures tomorrow!
Ross

... in just a couple hours, blog buddies!

Happy Saturday/the day before the day before Christmas!

I'm in a total rush. I have to leave for the airport in 30 minutes and my clothes are still in the dryer. After a full cycle on the "high heat" setting, the load still wasn't dry. That's probably because I put about 15 pounds of whites and colors combined in the same load trying to save time.

It turns out that doesn't work. Not only might some of my clothes get ruined, it takes like 4 times longer for a large load to dry than a teeny tiny load. Of course, had I planned ahead and done all this yesterday, it wouldn't be an issue.

To my credit, however, I was busy the last 2 days filming Celebrity Fit Club. That and I'm a total procrastinator.

Speaking of, I'm totally running late!!! I have to gather my toiletries and get Louise's stuff together before my clothes dry and I'm off in a hurry to the airport to catch my flight up to Washington State to spend the holidays with my family.

Don't worry blog buddies - the rest of the world may get baby Jesus's b'day off, but I'll be blogging like it's any other Monday (in between eating and opening presents and thanking baby Jesus and eating some more). In fact, I'll be blogging the entire time I'm gone (until Jan. 3rd), so keep checking back here every day!

Okay. I'm SERIOUSLY late. Ooopsies!

Until tomorrow!
Ross

Happy Friday, blog buddies!!!

I am in SUCH a rush. I spent yesterday shooting a "fit camp" for Celebrity Fit Club and today we're shooting the weigh-in ceremony. I have no idea when I'm going to get the crap I need to get done before I leave tomorrow for Washington State to spend the holidays with my family. Things like laundry, packing, sleeping, etc...

Oh well! I'm sure everything will work out.

To be honest, the thing I'm freaking out about the most is that fact that I still have a BUNCH of people to get gifts for and NO time to do it.

So this is my question for you: is getting someone a gift card tacky?

I can't decide. I mean, a gift is a gift is a gift, right? So who cares if it's a gift card, right? But then I think, the whole point of a gift is essentially saying, "I saw THIS and thought of YOU."

I'm worried a gift card might say, "I thought of YOU, freaked OUT that I had NOTHING, so I just got THIS to shut YOU up. Happy Holidays!"

But then again, I love love love getting gift cards. Hmm...

What are YOUR thoughts?

Okay. I seriously seriously seriously have to run.
Until tomorrow!
Ross

Hola, blog buddies!

And an extra big "hola" to you new blog buddies who just saw me on TV and decided to come over to check out the ole' blog. I hope you like what you see!

I update this blog everyday with pictures and stories from my everyday life. You'll see everything from the mundane (like my trips to Starbucks or the mall) to the magnificent (like my days behind-the-scenes at The Tonight Show or hanging out with super-stars).

As well as the blog, you can also catch up with what I'm up to by checking out my CHAT ROOM and my official Myspace page.

Click HERE for our CHAT ROOM.
Click HERE for my official MySpace page.

Now, let's get to what went down today behind-the-scenes at The Tonight Show...

The first thing I did when I got to the studio today was go to the office of Anthony, a writer on the show and the guy who produces/directs all of my segments. Here we are going over the script of what I said when Jay called me out onto the stage to introduce my piece.
oct 4 Anthony and I working.jpg

Then it was time for rehearsal - this is when we try everything out for the first time. The only audience during rehearsal is a small group of producers, stage managers, writers, NBC pages, Jay Leno and me. Here's a picture I took as I was waiting backstage for Jay to call me out for rehearsal (this is where all the Tonight Show guests walk out from behind the big screen).
oct 4 Empty Stage.jpg

And here's a picture that Roberta, the stage manager, took of me as I came off stage after rehearsal. By the look on my face, you can tell that rehearsal went really well - after a horrible rehearsal, I'm usually ripping things up, punching the wall and throwing a total hissy fit. VERY Naomi Campbell.
oct 4 Exiting Stage.jpg

After rehearsal, it was time to change my clothes and get into make-up. I seriously don't know why I even try, you guys. Seriously - no matter what I do, I still just look like a chubby ball of pink. Oh well!

Here I am in my dressing room as Jay was finishing his monologue - only like 2 minutes before it was time for me to go out on stage!
oct 4 Jay on TV.jpg

I had SO SO SO much fun today! Even after a hundred and something segments on The Tonight Show, it never gets old. The lights, the stars, the free food in the dressing room... it's all fantastic and I love every minute of it!

In other news...

Did you watch Dancing with the Stars last night?!? I totally didn't watch this show until this season and I am seriously kicking myself now - IT IS SO SO GOOD! Mario Lopez is my pick to win, but is it maybe just a little teeny tiny bit lame that I got kinda misty when Jerry Springer danced for his daughter?!? Aww, screw it - I'm a super fan and Idon'tevencare!

I hope to see you all back here again tomorrow - same blog time, same blog channel!

Until then, blog buddies!

So, my Tivo is set--but I had to come online and check ye olde blog...and tell you, Rossalicious, that if you are lame for getting misty eyed at Jerry, then I am a complete dork because I wept like a baby. Amanda!

Congratualtions on a great segment, Ross! I would watch TTS a lot more often if you were on the show every night. I think you are one of the funniest and most delightful people on T.V.
Peace-
Linda

Thanks again for the doing the segment on us at the Lumberjack World Championships. I guess you guys weren't a fan of the log rolling scene we did. I'm a bit embarrassed I told everybody I know to watch. But seriously, thanks anyway. I hope you had a blast in Wisconsin!

Hey Ross! Hey Everyone!

Your segment was hilarious tonight. You looked great...lol the blonde wig was funny. I was sitting here laughing and cheering for you along with everyone else. The chat was fun tonight...a little busy, but all your regulars do a great job welcoming everyone and ignoring those who are very rude. They don't seem to hang around to long once they take the hint.

Anyway just wanted to say great segment once again. One of the main reasons I watch the tonight show.

I like Dancing with the Stars too, but haven't watched it this season, there were too many good new shows and returning favorites on to take up my time.

Happy posting and blogging and chatting everyone.

Ross- Just want to say you rocked tonight! I've been a lurker for a while now, and finally had to tell you that you're awesome! Loved the segment Dinty! ;)

Thanks for the laughs!
& keep your segments coming!!!!

I Loved the clock! Even my brother was laughing!! Great job!

Hugges and Kisses

Ross, the Axe throwing was soooo reminiscent of Ed Ames and Johnny Carson ...just loved it.....You made it to log #2 Yipppeeeeee!
Lisa Lamponelli is a card....She even poked at you!

b-bear: Was that you in chat tonight as bearbear? C'mon back and introduce yourself! It gets lonely being the only ursine!

Ross,
Thanks so much for coming into chat tonight. Sending you, Mom, Louise, Taya and my fellow blogmates much love and kisses. xoxoxoxoxo

Going to Dallas tomorrow afternoon. I'll miss y'all in chat, but I'll be keeping an eye on the blog while I'm away.

Take care, Y'all!!!

jno a/k/a Longhorn Babe ;)

HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!! YEE-HAW!!

Ok I have a question...do guests that guess and assume about your sexuality bug you ross? cause that lady was a bit...forward about her assumptions

Did not seem very appropriate

Awesome segment tonight Ross!
I woke up my husband laughing so hard when you fell in the water and then said, "How do I look wet"? I think your segments are the best TTS has!
I have to know...Did you meet Rod Stewart?? I have loved him probably since before you were born! I have many great memories of events where Rod was singing in the background!

You totally rocked tonight Ross!!! Even the kids bargained so they could stay up and watch, No One was sorry they did!!! I have been just reading for the last couple days, stupid tooth decided to absess so haven't been very smiley. But you had me in stitches tonight, you were so funny!! Face is paying for it now, but it was completely worth it and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thank you for bringing sunshine into our world.
Love ya bunches!

P.S. At least you are a chubby ball of pink and not a squishy ball of green, that would just be gross. lol!! You look awesome so stop picking out flaws. They are too minor anyway.
Love ya!!

Loved your Lumberjack segment, Ross! Great job - and yes, that hatchet throw did bring back memories of the Ed Ames throw on TTS w/Johnny back in the 60s!

Must confess that Lisa L. kept me watching the rest of TTS - boy, she is WILD!! I can't recall ever seeing a guest walk off, then come back! Oh boy ...

As always, I love your segments and look forward to seeing the next one.

hey ross, hey all,

loved you last night on tts. i stayed up to watch it. paying for it today, seeing how tts comes on where i live at 1:05 am and your segment airs round 1:20am it was so funny, when you told that guy you had to change and he said yes and made a comment about your pink plaid shirt, so funny. then the log running. rofl i thought my husband was going to pee his pants. rofl so much better watching your segments live on tts then later on youtube. it was so funny when you made that clock for jay. you should try to get him to get involved with one of your next segments, i bet it would be hiliarious. rofl
i have been watching dancing with the stars since the first season, love it. i can't believe they voted of vivica a. fox, i thought she did great the night before, i thought for sure sarah would be going home. this year it is very unpredictable who goes home and who stays. best season yet. welcome on board ross. :) this weekend we in canada are celebrating thanksgiving, i am cooking a huge turkey, can't wait. :) you should do a segment on thanksgiving with the indians and pilgrims. with you dressed up as the turkey or a pilgrim(sp?):) it would make for a great segment, maybe include jay in that one. :) well i must take off, have a great day all and take care and keep it real. sorry i didnt make it to chat last night, but 7am comes really fast when you dont got to bed til 2am. :) maybe i will try next time when another one of ross's segment's airs. :)

sonia

i have to say, i don't think i would have attempted to run across the logs. and you did it over & over. what a trooper. heck, i don't think i'd have tried to do a lot of things you've done. (like climbing the mast of that pirate ship in a different segment! or the time you held the hissing cockroach! ewwww!!)

Way too funny and being from WI, your mullet wig was too funny. There are quite a few rednecks in the woods where you were. By the way Ross, did you stop for West's Dairy ice cream while you were there? Yummy!

beautiful job last night! you looked fabulous (of course), as well.

Ross-I'm glad I stayed up last night to watch even though I was SO tired. I recorded it though so I can watch it again. As usual, you were awesome. I needed that laugh!

I love to see you, even though I am an old guy! I watched last night because a friend told me you were going to show your big .... oh, it was CLOCK! I thought it was something else, but you are always funny, and play it for all it is worth, honey.

Another wonderfully funny segment to add to the list. I loved it and went to bed giggling...that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean.

I think this is the perfect time to "remind" the Tonight Show that we are still here, we still LOVE Ross and we still want MORE ROSS! You can email the show at: tonightshow@NBC.com

It was great to meet everyone in chat, especially zoe from Mukilteo! Hope you all come back and chat with us again soon.

Ross,
I loved the lumberjack segment.. had to go back and watch it again as we were laughing too hard the first time.
Any idea when the Cher segment will run? Cause I can't WAIT to see that one!
hugs..

WOW, Ross you blogg and all you guys your posts really have me stoked!!! Living on base in Germany means that tonight (thursday) I get to watch wed. night Leno. It is on in about 1 hour and 45 minutes... I am sooo excited, it sounds GREAT! I'll be here in chat during my viewing if any of you want to join me (430pm EST and 130pm PST).

I am sooooo excited, and I just can't hide it, I'm about to loose control and I think I like it....LOL, sorry I can't sing, I croak...lol.

I agree, Rossalicious, it was HILARIOUS! I didn't expect anything less from you, though, and can't wait till the Cher segment.

Welcome to all the newbies! Hope you all have a great day!

I always love your segments. So funny!!! Congrats on making it to the second log.

Loved it as always, and glad you hit your 2nd log.

OH I AM SOOOO MAD.... I am an early to bed gal, so I was struggling to stay up to watch the Ross segment tonight (like I stated earlier, we get stuff one day later than you, here in Germany on base). ANYWAY, it was supposed to come on and all of the sudden we get a program change and it is pre-empted by a live news report with the House Speaker.

So, I guess I am missing this Ross segment... poopy!

I will just have to enjoy it through all of you guys great posts and Ross's photo's.

Great segment Ross! Loved the FlavaFlave bit. Jay really will wear anything won't he? He's a good sport.

Still want to see Ross the Seahawks Quarterback though.

OMG, Ross! I can't believe I missed it! :(

I went to famous blogger Stephanie Klein's book signing last night and then must have messed around on the internet afterward and FORGOT TO TURN YOU ON!!! I can't believe it...

Oh well, back to the grind. Being a self-published author is hard work.

I still want to send you a copy of my book for your belated b-day gift. Just let me know where to send it ;)

Am going to send a copy to Drew Barrymore, too, because I want her to play me in "QUeen of Sky" the movie :D
