Halloween quickie.

October 31, 2006

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, BLOG BUDDIES!!!

I'm running around like crazy trying to get the finishing touches for my costume for Heidi Klum's party tonight, plus I'm getting everything ready to leave for New York City early tomorrow morning to shoot a Tonight Show segment.

I'm SO sorry that I didn't get around to blogging today. Ooopsies!!!

I'll have you know, however, that Kim and I have found GREAT Halloween costumes! She's being Richard Simmons and I'm a race car driver (complete with a mullet and facial hair)!

I don't think I'll have time to announce BLOGGER OF THE MONTH or post Halloween pictures tomorrow, but I'll work on both of them during my flight. However, look for a FIELD TRIP tomorrow as I head to the airport and navigate my way to New York City!

Until then, have fun tonight, blog buddies! And stay safe!

Hi ho hi ho...

October 30, 2006

... it's off to work I go, blog buddies!

After my week off of work (the show was on hiatus and aired reruns last week), I awoke to the buzz buzz buzzing of my alarm clock this morning, rolled out of bed and faced the world once again as a workin' man.

I'm not gonna lie, having last week off was really nice - sleeping in, having "ugly days" (days where I don't do my hair and wear a t-shirt), staying up late, etc. It's nice to have time to do nothing.

However, I'm super lucky because I love love love my job and literally whistled on my way to work today, eager to see my co-workers, roll my sleeves up, and resume the daily grind of making TV.

I did spend a little time looking in the mirror this morning as I was getting ready and I've come to a conclusion: I will probably get work done when I'm older. I totally totally totally support people who say things like, "I will never ever get work done because I think we should all age gracefully" and I totally intend on trying to age gracefully, too. But I hope I'll find a balance between aging gracefully and having 4 chins.

I mean, come on! If I start looking like Elmer Fudd in my mid 30's and then, in my mid 40's, start looking like Elmer Fudd's grandpa, I see NOTHING wrong with nipping a little here and tucking a little there, am I right?!?

However, I do admit that some people take it way too far. You know who I'm talking about - the people who look like their face is made out of stretched out chewed gum?

But that got me thinking. What if I do go too far? What if I turn into one of those people? I'm sure they didn't intend on becoming one of those people when they got their first nip and then their second tuck, right? But suddenly, somehow, there they were permanently looking like a cast member of CATS.

I started to panic. What if I end up looking something like this?
Cat Face.jpg

And then I changed my mind. Maybe there is something to be said for "aging gracefully"?

Or not. Whatever. Just screw it and make me look like Ashton Kutcher.

Have any of YOU ever thought about having plastic surgery? If not, why? If so, what would you have done? Or - gasp! - have any of you ever HAD plastic surgery already?!? Do tell!!!

In other news...

It's that time again! Send in your nominations for BLOGGER OF THE MONTH for November! Send them to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com! It could be YOU!!!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Winning the neighbor lottery. (UPDATED!)

October 29, 2006

(Scroll down to see the update!)

(Bookmark this new link): Click HERE for our CHAT ROOM.

Happy Sunday, blog buddies!

I seriously think I'm the luckiest boy in the world. Just a few months ago, I moved into a new house in a new city all by myself. It was a scary thing to do - I mean, I didn't know anybody near me and I wasn't very familiar with the city. Little did I know, however, that when I chose to live here, I totally won the neighbor lottery. Seriously!

I spent last night at a pumpkin carving/wine drinking party with 4 of my new neighbors. It was SO much fun! I don't know what we did more of, though - carving pumpkins or drinking wine (oopsies!), but it doesn't matter because both activities were super-fun!

After we were done carving our pumpkins, it was time to show n' tell n' judge everybody's work. Being rather "crafty" myself, I had to explain to my new neighbors that we're all strong in different areas and carving pumpkins just happens to be one of my strengths. They actually accused me of having a pre-carved pumpkin under the table that I just pulled out when they weren't looking (like they do on cooking shows - "Let's put this in the oven - through the magic of television, I just happen to have one already finished...").

To be honest, I think all our pumpkins are pretty impressive (and I'm not just saying that to "pumpkin patch" things up... get it?!?)!

Can YOU guess which one is mine?
Which Pumpkin Did Ross Carve.jpg

Post your guess in our COMMENT SECTION (click HERE and scroll down or just go to the end of this blog entry and click on "COMMENT") and check back at 6pm Pacific Time (9pm Eastern) and I'll let you know which pumpkin is mine!

*** UPDATED! SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ENTRY!

In other news...

Did you remember to set your clocks back last night? I totally forgot all about it and woke up this morning wondering why Meet the Press was on instead of my NFL pre-game shows. Then it hit me and I went back to sleep for an hour or so. Duh!

I want to thank the hundreds of you who have emailed me your Halloween costume ideas! I love them ALL! I especially appreciate those of you who take this game to the next level by creating little Photoshopped pictures of me in a costume. Here are a couple pictures sent in by you bloggers:

Thanks for the creativity, bloggers! Keep sending your ideas to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com!

And finally, here's a music head's up! I was obsessed with JOHN LEGEND's last CD, Get Lifted. His new album, Once Again, came out last week and it is SO SO SO SO good, too! You didn't hear it from me, but it's on sale for $9.99 at the place that rhymes with "zarget". Go buy it!

Okay... you all guessed and MOST of you were right! The pumpkin I carved was, in fact...

I tried to make him wink and have a smirk like he was saying, "I have a secret and I'm not telling you...", but it's really hard to make a pumpkin express emotion. TRUST ME.

More Halloween ideas!

October 28, 2006

Happy Saturday, blog buddies!

Kim and I have been out and about in search of a Halloween costume for her and, so far, our search has been to no avail.

We've been from thrift store to thrift store to Halloween store to Target-like stores and NOTHING. Hence the late blog.

Today I'm posting some more of your ideas for Halloween costumes for me. I've been SHOCKED and THRILLED at how many of you have sent in ideas! Some of you bloggers even took the liberty of making pictures of me in costumes yourself! For example, SEATTLE SHUE emailed me this picture of me as BETSY ROSS:
H - Betsy_Ross ROSS.jpg

Love it! Here are some more of your ideas that I've turned into visual masterpieces:

Me as UGLY BETTY (suggested by my Grandma, Uncle and Aunt):

Me as DR. McDREAMY (suggested by MORGAN):

Halloween help!

October 27, 2006

Happy Friday, blog buddies!

Okay, so big news - I have officially been invited to Heidi Klum's Halloween party next Tuesday night!!! For real!!! Costumes are required and I have no idea what to wear. This is where YOU all come in!

I need your help! WHAT and/or WHO should I be for Halloween? WHO and/or WHAT are you being? Help! I don't want to be something boring or typical or expected. Rather, I want to be something fun and funny and easy because I have to have it ready by Tuesday night!

Send your ideas to me today(rosstheintern@yahoo.com) and I'll make little photoshopped mock-ups of your ideas and post them here throughout the day to see if your ideas work. Fun, right?!?

I've already taken the liberty of trying some other ideas. For example, I thought that maybe I should go as a character from one of my favorite TV shows.
The Cosby Show with Ross.jpg

The Golden Girls with Ross.jpg

But I don't know if those ideas are "right".

Then I thought I should try one of my Halloween pet peeves. You know what I'm talking about - when people put on their old cheer leading outfit with high heels and go as a "sexy cheerleader" or - even worse - put on a sexy outfit and like cat ears and go as a "sexy cat". What's up with that?!? A "sexy" animal?!? What?!?

But I'm desperate, so I thought I'd at least try it.
Ross Sexy Chicken.jpg

No. It's not working, either. (Oh, wow - that picture is disturbing. I found it by searching "sexy chicken" in Google Image. Click HERE if you don't believe me.)

So send in WHATEVER ideas you have for me now! I'll pick some of my favorites and will update the blog throughout the day with more pictures inspired by your suggestions! Keep 'em coming! Email your ideas to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com.

I'll TOTALLY give you credit/a shout out on the blog for your ideas! Keep checking back to see what people have to say!

On a sad note, I have official taken the old blog offline. From now on, click HERE for our CHAT ROOM. Also note that my old email address doesn't work - from now on, email me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com. :)

Dumb (gr)ass.

October 26, 2006

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

My quest for domestic improvement this week continues today as I meet with a "grass person" who knows how to install lawn stuff. Or, at least, I hope to meet with a "grass person" if he calls me back. I'm telling you, it is WAY harder than I thought it would be to get someone to install grass (or "sod" as it's called in the 'biz). I probably called 48 different places yesterday and still don't have a solid answer. I'm sure the fact that I had no idea what I was talking about didn't help. Seriously. This is how one specific conversation went:

Grass Guy: Hello?
Me: Hi. Umm, my name is Ross and I need to have someone put, like, grass in my little backyard.
Grass Guy: What are the dimensions of your yard?
Me: Umm, kinda small. Like, okay - you know those McDonald's with slides and those bins with little colored balls and stuff for kids to play in?
Grass Guy: Uhh...
Me: It's like that size - like the size of the play area at McDonald's. So, yeah... kinda small.
Grass Guy: And what kind of grass are you looking for?
Me: Green?

It's a miracle they didn't hang up on me.

Before my "grass" meeting (if there is one), I'm off to have lunch with my friend Jackie Beat and then to my new favorite store, Home Depot, to look for any simple fix-it things I could do myself to spruce up my house (I'm thinking new light switch covers?!?).

Did you all have fun during yesterday's LIVE BLOG?!? I know I did! We'll do it again sometime soon.

Also, keep your CELEBRITY POP QUIZ questions for Linda Blair coming! Email them to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com.

(Scroll down for the updated LIVE BLOG entries!)

1:30pm Pacific Time

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

I pride myself on taking blog fun to the next level, and today is no exception. It's time for our very first LIVE BLOG!!!
Live Blog Logo.jpg

You're probably asking yourself, "What in the hell is a LIVE BLOG?!?"

Of course you're asking yourself that - because LIVE BLOG was just created right now in my pretty little head!

Here's how LIVE BLOG is going to work - I'll go out into the world and post updates with pictures throughout the day! So, instead of having one blog entry, a LIVE BLOG entry will be updated multiple times throughout the day so you can take part in whatever I'm doing!

Today's LIVE BLOG will be about me going to visit my co-worker/office mate/friend Daria at her house in Downtown LA. Look for a LIVE BLOG update (with pictures of me trying to navigate through the streets of Downtown) in an hour or so. Then keep checking back to see what we end up doing - maybe we'll go shopping, maybe we'll hang in and play a board game, maybe we'll watch a movie - but whatever it is, I'll be updating the LIVE BLOG throughout the day!

Keep checking back!

You can keep track of today's LIVE BLOG with your fellow blog buddies in our CHAT ROOM. Daria and I will pop in, too! Click HERE for our CHAT ROOM.

Also, Click HERE for my official MySpace page.

See you soon, blog buddies!
Ross

**********UPDATE**********

2:52pm Pacific Time

Okay, gang, let the LIVE BLOG begin!

I just drove to Daria's loft in Downtown. Here I am in the car:
Live Blog Ross Drive.jpg

And here's a shot I took on the 110 freeway as I approached Downtown and exited Hill Street (yes, as in Hill Street Blues!).

Here's Daria!
Live Blog Daria Wave.jpg

Her loft is AMAZING, you guys. Seriously. I'm starting to think she makes significantly more money than I do. Arrgggg!!!!

And here I am! And look - there's today's blog entry on my computer screen so you know that today's blog is, in fact, live!
Live Blog Ross Type.jpg

Fun! Drop by the CHAT ROOM! We'll pop in, too! Click HERE for our CHAT ROOM.

Keep checking back for more LIVE BLOG entries throughout the day!

Daria and I had fun using PhotoBooth on her Mac:
Live Blog Photo Booth.jpg

And then I went out on her balcony and enjoyed the view of Downtown. The view is beautiful, but I hate heights!
Live Blog Balcony.jpg

Now we're off to grab a quick snack at a diner down the street. LIVE BLOG is fun, right?!?

See you in a few!
Ross

**********UPDATE**********

7:26pm Pacific Time

Okay. So we went out to a diner near Daria's house to grab a quick bite (a chicken quesadilla - I ate half, Daria had none) and a couple diet Cokes. It was so nice to just sit in a diner and chat and laugh and gossip and laugh some more.

I took a picture of Daria taking a picture of me:
Live Blog Daria Pictures.jpg

And she took a picture of me "toasting" all our blog buddies!
Live Blog Ross Toast.jpg

I just got home from Daria's house and took Louise on a walk. Now "wheezie" (as I call her) is eating her food and I'm making a salad for dinner before settling into the couch to watch the documentary Spellbound (which I borrowed from Daria).

**********UPDATE**********

10:59pm Pacific Time

I never got around to watching Spellbound. Instead, I chatted with friends on the phone, got some neglected computer work taken care of, and chose to make artichokes for dinner instead of salad. And now I'm off to bed (well, to climb into bed but watch the news and then Jay's monologue as I rub Louise's belly before I actually fall asleep).

And so concludes our entire day of Ross' LIVE BLOG.

I want to thank ALL of you bloggers who took part in our very first LIVE BLOG. Did you have fun? I know I did!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!
Ross

The antihandy.

October 24, 2006

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

Okay, so the painter is in my bedroom right now painting away and it is looking AMAZING!!! I was worried yesterday that, in my rush to pick paint colors, I might have made a mistake in the colors I chose. However, it turns out that I'm an interior design genius of sorts and I've blessed my bedroom with my magic.

However, it turns out that I am not, in fact, handy... in any way... at all. Let me explain:

I wanted my front door and the door from inside my garage into the house to have the same key so I don't have to switch keys depending on which entry I'm using. So I went to a locksmith and got an estimate - roughly $300. I thought that was insanely expensive for changing 2 door knobs and 2 deadbolts, so I called my brother and asked him what he thought. Here's how the conversation went:

Eric: Hey buddy!
Ross: Hey you. Umm... is $300 a lot to have my locks changed?
Eric: WHAT?!? No way. NO WAY are you paying that much. Dude, just go to Home Depot, buy a set of locks, and put it in yourself. It's SO easy.
Ross: Really? I can do that?
Eric: Of course! They come with directions and everything. If I was down there, I'd do it for you, but I know you can do it.
Ross: Thanks, bro!

So yesterday when I was at Home Depot buying paint, I also bought a set of locks that said FITS ALL DOORS and EASY INSTALLATION. My goal was to come home, strap on my tool belt, and become ROSS THE HANDYMAN.
Ross_the_Handyman.jpg

This could quite possibly be the dumbest idea I've ever had.

Not only was my brother wrong, but the lock company lies. LIES. First of all, NO their locks DO NOT fit all doors, and secondly, NO their locks are NOT easy to install. The directions consisted of numbers (ie: "2 and 3/8 blah blah") and, because I was convinced that the lock should fit into the hole like the company said it would, I forced it in and cracked my door. REALLY. NO LIE. I BROKE THE FRICKIN' DOOR.

So not only did I have to call a locksmith out, I had to buy a new door.

Oh well. I've gotta laugh at myself. Lesson learned. Never again. From now on, the only tool belt I'll wear will be a fanny pack.

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!
Ross

PS - The good news, at least, is that I found a MUCH cheaper locksmith. :)

Paint pains.

October 23, 2006

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

I've been busy all morning running around getting the supplies needed for the painter to come over to my house tomorrow morning to paint my bedroom!

I'm so excited. If you read yesterday's blog entry, you know that I've vowed to get crap around the house taken care of during my week off. Well, I called the painter this morning and he was like, "How's tomorrow morning?" and I was like, "Great!" and then it hit me - I didn't know what colors I wanted to paint my room!!!

PANIC totally set in. I mean, I've been thinking and have had a general idea for a while now, but on my way to Home Depot to pick out paint I started thinking, "You're making a huge mistake and you'll have to wake up to it every morning and go to sleep with it every night."

I didn't know what to do! Generally, I'm very good at making decisions. But there I stood in the paint aisle staring at the walls of samples with a totally blank look on my face. The nice man who worked there kept coming up to me and asking, "Are you doing alright?" I would just nod and make a sound like a CareBear being smothered.

Eventually I slapped myself in the face, snapped out of my panic attack, and went with my gut: 3 light brownish walls and one accent wall in a golden/yellowish orangish color. It will be glorious and beautiful and exactly what I want and, if not, it's just paint, people.

You may be asking yourself, "Why is Ross hiring someone to paint his bedroom? Why doesn't he just get off his lazy ass and paint it himself?"

The answer: BECAUSE I ALREADY PAINTED ALMOST EVERY OTHER WALL IN MY HOUSE AND I'M &*@#ING SICK OF PAINTING BECAUSE - EVEN THOUGH WE TRY TO DENY IT - PAINTING SUCKS.

And I'm not going to feel guilty about it... much. Okay, maybe a little. But in my defense, in the scope of spending frivolously, having someone paint your house is low on the scale, am I right? Please just say yes so I stop feeling so guilty that I feel the need to constantly defend myself.

Okay gang - I'm off to... umm... watch TV? I'm on vacation (and it seems the only "trip" I'm going on this vacation is a "guilt trip")!

Domestic productivity.

October 22, 2006

Happy Sunday, blog buddies!

I am SO loving this weekend - hanging around the house cleaning and organizing and changing bedding and whatnot, going shopping, watching football, bbq-ing and going to see The Queen tonight. And the best part? I have ALL next week off! So the weekend will just keep going and going and going and going...

I'm really hoping to use this week off to get some stuff done on my new house. I've been here since June - can I still call it my "new" house? Anyway, the first few months that I lived here were spent constantly updating things and perfecting domestic maintenance. However, I've dropped the ball somewhere along the line and nothing has really changed in a month or so. That's why I'm hoping to paint a room or get grass put into the backyard or have an electrician come out and install some new light fixtures or SOMETHING while I have the time. I just don't want to spend the entire week watching TLC and eating. Wish me luck.

I don't have any special LAZY SUNDAY LINK for you this week, so I invite you to post a link to something fun/unique/special in the COMMENT section. It's your turn, blog buddies! What's YOUR LAZY SUNDAY LINK?!?

I'm off to marinate chicken and give Louise a bath - I hope I don't mix it up, otherwise I'll have some really clean chicken and Louise will taste like rosemary and lemon!

I can't wait to see YOUR LAZY SUNDAY LINKS!

Oh, and keep your CELEBRITY POP QUIZ questions for Linda Blair coming! Send them to: rosstheintern@yahoo.com.

Until tomorrow, gang!

Queso bean dip.

October 21, 2006

Happy happy Saturday, blog buddies!

I have had THE BEST Saturday so far. I got up early, hung out with Louise, got ready, got coffee, and hit the town - IKEA, Target, Linens N' Things...

I didn't find that much stuff (a rug for the kitchen and a little bed for Louise), but it was SO nice to just be out and about shopping and killing time. I've been so busy lately and have missed the mind numbing bliss that comes with wasting money on little things I don't really need.

Last night I went out with my friend Kim to a super-duper fancy place in the Silverlake district of LA. I love going out to nice dinners every once in a while. Don't get me wrong, I get excited about going to Chili's or Denny's, too, but there's something so decadent about indulging in salads with almond crusted goat cheese and halibut with a blood orange sauce - things they don't really make at Chili's (although this fancy place didn't have Chili's famous queso bean dip, so they're sort of even).

I do have a bone to pick with restaurants in LA - it's always SO dark inside! Seriously, I'm always holding a candle up to the menu so I can read it. Yesterday, I got so mad that I vowed to Kim that from now on I'll put a mini flashlight on my key chain and hold it up to my menus without shame. Is this a problem for anyone else?!?

Anyway...

I'm making it my mission to finally see Helen Mirren's film The Queen sometime this weekend. I've been trying to see it for weeks to no avail, but I refuse to go another weekend without seeing what all the buzz is about. I also plan on seeing some other films during my week off next week (The Tonight Show is on hiatus).

Okay. I have nothing exceptional or exciting to report today. I'm just thrilled to not be on a plane or on the other side of the country or working working working. I'm in love with the fact that I'm sitting on my couch right now and watching Psychic Detectives andIdon'tevencare.

Oh - and keep your CELEBRITY POP QUIZ questions coming for Linda Blair! Email them to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com.

October 20, 2006

Happy Friday, blog buddies!!!

The Tonight Show is on hiatus all next week (reruns), so I don't have to go into work until after next week! I mean, I love love love my job, but who doesn't love love love a week off work, am I right?!?

I spent last night doing what I've done every other night this week: sitting with Louise in front of the TV and going to bed at like 10. Tonight, on the other hand, is a different story. I declare, here and now in front of all the citizens of blog land: I AM GOING OUT AND DOING SOMETHING FUN TONIGHT. Unless, of course, there's something really good on TV tonight.

As promised yesterday, here are some pictures of my day yesterday shooting part of an upcoming Tonight Show video blog segment at the "Dine with your Dog" event in Los Angeles. This event was to unveil a new dog food by Natural Balance that is edible for humans and to raise money for needy animals. Basically, they invited me and I went because I never turn down a party with free food (even if it's dog food).

The first thing Louise did when we got to the fancy LA hotel was go into the grass and make a "donation" of her own.
DD Louise Poo.jpg

That's my dog-ter. I'm so proud.

Then it was time to put her in her lobster costume (there was a doggie costume contest, too) and walk the red carpet so the pup-arazzi could take our picture.
DD Louise PUParazzi.jpg

While we were on the red carpet, Louise and I copped a squat with Desperate Housewives star Nicolette Sheridan and her doggie, Oliver. Too cute, right?!?
DD Nicolette Sheridan.jpg

Then I spotted one of my FAVORITE stars from one of my FAVORITE shows EVER, Melissa Gilbert from Little House on the Prairie. Don't think for a SECOND that I was going to let her get away without talking to me! Here I am with Louise, Melissa, and her 3 puppies.
DD Half Pint and I.jpg

Then it was time for the big moment - time to (gulp)... eat dog food. Luckily, I talked my new best friend Melissa Gilbert into chowing down with me! (Notice Dick Van Patten next to me).
DD Half Pint and I eating dog food.jpg

It honestly didn't taste too bad! They had three different types and all were like a thick soup. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't order it at a restaurant, but I've tasted worse. I imagine they'd love it in prison.

As you probably already know, Linda Blair is the next celebrity to agree to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ! Start sending your questions for Linda to me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com! NOTE: THIS IS A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS.

Our blog friend Linda was at the event yesterday, too, with her organization Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation. Here I am with Linda, Louise, and a super-sweet pit bull mix named Tyler (who's up for adoption!).
DD Linda Blair.jpg

Believe it or not, the dog food didn't fill me up and after the event I was still hungry. So the crew and I (along with Louise) went to lunch to celebrate a good day of shooting. I was quite the lucky guy at lunch, too, with two of my favorite bitches sitting on either side of me - Daria (my co-worker/office mate/friend) on my right:
DD Lunch Daria Me.jpg

And my paw-fect little dog-ter, Louise, sitting like a lady to my left:
DD Louise Lunch.jpg

Is that not the cutest thing ever (except for the fact that I look like a weird orange oompa loompa)?!?

Okay gang, I'm off to figure out what I'm doing tonight!

Until tomorrow!

I'm so so so sorry to be posting today's blog so late in the day! Have you been wondering where I've been?!? I've been shooting a Tonight Show segment all day. I would have blogged early this morning before I left, but I thought we'd only be out and about shooting for a couple hours during the morning, so I figured I'd just blog when I came back.

Little did I know that I'd be gone for most of the day. Oopsies! But I couldn't help noticing that ya'll have been looking for me.

I appreciate it, blog buddies!

Did you watch the finale of Project Runway last night? Ehh. I though Uli's final collection was the most impressive, but Jeffrey won instead. All four designers are super-talented, though, so it's not the end of the world.

Tomorrow I'll be posting pictures from my day today eating dog food with Melissa Gilbert, playing around with Nicolette Sheridan, sitting in the grass with Linda Blair, and doing it all with Louise in a lobster costume. Seriously.

Speaking of Linda Blair, she's the next celebrity to agree to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ! So start sending me your questions for Linda! Email me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Another CELEBRITY POP QUIZ!

October 18, 2006

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

I feel like I've been a hermit since getting back from the East Coast. Seriously, I've been going to bed at like 9:30, getting up, going to work, coming home, cooking dinner, watching a bit of TV, and going to bed again. I feel like I'm in senior citizen mode (no offense to our senior bloggers). Even Louise is looking up at me like, "Wow, Dad. You're totally snoresville."

But tonight will be no different because I have to get up early tomorrow morning to shoot yet another Tonight Show segment (yeah!) with Louise (yeah!) for another installment of my video blog (yeah!). Pictures and more info to come tomorrow.

I had to be to work early today to attend sexual harassment training class (required by NBC for all employees). I don't know if something's wrong with me or if this happens to everyone, but during the entire session I had the crazy urge to scream out offensive profanities. Is that normal? Yes? No? Maybe just a little? But of course I was totally professional and kept my mouth shut.

In other news...

It's that time, gang - time to announce yet another celebrity who has agreed to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ!!! What's a CELEBRITY POP QUIZ? CELEBRITY POP QUIZ is a feature unique to the ROSSblog - you won’t find it anywhere else! When a celeb agrees to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ, they agree to answer a group of questions honestly and openly. Some of the questions will be written by me, and the rest of them will be written by YOU!

Prior to my interview with the celeb, I’ll let you all know who I’ll be interviewing and you can submit questions by emailing me at: rosstheintern@yahoo.com! NOTICE: THIS IS A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!!!

Then I’ll post the questions I asked the celeb and the celeb’s answers here on this blog in a segment I like to call: CELEBRITY POP QUIZ!

logo new.jpg

Without further ado, the next celebrity to agree to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ is...

Linda Blair

Linda Blair CPQ logo.jpg

Oscar nominated actress, animal right activist and my friend Linda Blair has agreed to be the next celebrity to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ! Best known for her amazing performance as Regan in the 1973 film The Exorcist, Linda has gone on to star in many other feature films and television projects. Most impressive, however, is the foundation Linda has created, Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation.

Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation is very special to my heart. Click HERE for more info and click on "DONATE TO LB WORLD HEART" about half down the page on the right to donate to Linda's cause - every penny helps to feed and foster a doggie!

Linda can next be seen on Supernatural on the CW Network.

So start sending me your questions for Linda Blair's CELEBRITY POP QUIZ!!! Email your questions to: rosstheintern@yahoo.com! NOTICE: THIS IS A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!!!

Until tomorrow, gang!

Pinch Me Moments #1.

October 17, 2006

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

I'm finally back to work at my office after a week of traveling. Isn't it crazy how much mail and crap loads up on your desk when you're gone? Seriously. I haven't had this much mail since... ever. And meetings - don't even get me started on meetings. I've been busy all morning, hence the late-ish blog.

As I was driving into work today I was day dreaming and thinking of nothing in particular. Out of nowhere, my mind wandered to a memory that I thought I'd share with all of you.

There have been many occasions in my life that I like to call "Pinch Me Moments" - times when things happen that seem so out of this world, so unbelievable that it doesn't seem possible. I've decided that every once in a while I'll share with you, my beloved blog buddies, a very special "Pinch Me Moment".
pinch me moment logo.jpg

It was early afternoon on January 1, 2004. I was boarding a plane back from NY where I had just reported live during New Years Eve in Time Square in New York City. Only hours earlier, I had been chatting with Jay Leno on live television as I counted down the last seconds of 2003 in front of millions of viewers and in the middle of over a million people jammed into midtown Manhattan.

After settling into my seat and pulling out a tabloid of some kind (I think Jen and Brad were still together at this point), I looked up and saw a woman putting her bags away and sitting in the seat across the aisle from me. She looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't place her.

Right as I went back to reading my tabloid and pushed play on my CD player, the oddly familiar woman tapped me on my shoulder.

"You," she said as she looked directly into my eyes, "Are very funny. I watched you last night in bed. I was sick and you made me feel better."

"Oh my gosh," I replied, "Thank you so much."

"Keep it up, kid." And then she went back to her seat.

I was still trying to figure out how I knew her when the plane took off and the flight attendants began their beverage service. After taking my order (a diet Coke), the young male flight attendant went up to the oddly familiar woman and said, "Okay, Mrs. Robinson, what would you like to drink?"

That's when it began to sink in who she was.

She patted the flight attendant on the hand and said, "You can call me Mrs. Brooks."

It was Anne Bancroft.

Pinch me.

Do you have any "Pinch Me Moments" of your own? I'm lucky to have truckloads of them. I'll share more with you as time goes on.

Oh! And we have another celebrity who's agreed to take our CELEBRITY POP QUIZ! I'll announce who tomorrow, so get your questions ready!

Until tomorrow, gang!

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

Wow oh wow - what a week I had!

From traveling to North Carolina to shoot a Tonight Show segment as a pit crew member at a NASCAR race, to a Journey concert on Saturday night and AIDS Walk LA yesterday, I am seriously pooped.

I'm taking today off and relaxing at home. By "relaxing" I mean "staying in my pajamas and watching E! True Hollywood Story on the couch".

As promised, here are a crap-load of pictures from my Friday (at the NASCAR RACE), Saturday (at the Journey concert) and Sunday (at AIDS Walk LA).

FRIDAY

Here are Scott, the Tonight Show's talent coordinator, and I on the side of the race track.
race scott and i.jpg

Here I am chatting up the driver for the Target car. Of course, I asked him the question I'm sure you're all dying to know. Yes, he does in fact get the 10% employee discount.
race target driver.jpg

Here I am talking to my pit crew captain (who I nick-named "Pom Pom").
race pom pom.jpg

Here I am all gussied up in my pit crew outfit.
race me outfit.jpg

And here I am in the middle of the race.
race me with headset.jpg

Seriously you guys - I, like, really worked in the pit crew. Very impressive, if I do say so myself.

SATURDAY

Once back in LA on Saturday night, my best friend Kim took me to see one of my ALL TIME favorite bands EVER... JOURNEY!!!
J Journey.jpg

Here we are being super-smiley as Journey sang behind us "When the lights go down in the city..."
J Kim and me.jpg

I never drink beer because, personally, I think it kinda tastes like pennies. But when in Rome...
J beer.jpg

It's still not my favorite, but it wasn't bad at all.

We had SUCH a great time at the concert, as did the tons and tons of other people there.
J crowd.jpg

SUNDAY

Speaking of tons and tons of people, here's a glimpse at the hundreds of thousands of people who attended AIDS Walk LA on Sunday.
AW tons of peeps.jpg

I was honored to be there along with so many other people who wanted to stand up (or, er... walk, actually) 25 years after the disease was named to say "25 YEARS = TOO LONG". Here's a shot of some of the people walking in front of me.
AW 25yis2l.jpg

I went with my best friend Kim and her fantastic sister Morgan.
AW Me, Morgan and Kim.jpg

Oh! And I got an email from Glynis, a well-known RossBlogger and former Blogger of the Month, telling me that she sent Jai from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy a MySpace message telling him that I would be walking in the AIDS Walk and that he should keep his eye out for me. Well, at one pit stop I saw a cute little doggie and asked the owner what the dog's name was. WELL, it turned out that the doggie's owner was Jai!
AW Jai and Me.jpg

He said, "I knew you were going to be here because someone sent me a MySpace message." I said, "That was Glynis!"

Okay gang - I'm off to (finally) jump into the shower!
Until tomorrow!

Happy Sunday, blog buddies!!!

I feel like I've been running and on the go since early last week. I just got back from Charlotte, NC yesterday and went to the Journey concert last night, and now I'm running out the door to go to AIDS Walk LA - a 6 mile walk around West Hollywood.

I want to thank ALL of you who donated to AIDS Walk LA on my behalf - you know who you are!!! Your contributions make things possible! To date, we've raised $815!!!

But it's not too late! Click HERE to sponsor me!

Okay. I seriously have to run. I can't post pictures today. So expect pictures of the following tomorrow:

- More NASCAR pit crew stuff.
- Last night's Journey concert.

Fun!

Okay, I have to go!

Until tomorrow!

Charlotte: California I'm comin' home and another FIELD TRIP!

October 14, 2006

Hola, blog buddies!

OMG, I am SO running late - I'm supposed to meet the crew in the lobby to leave for the airport in 5 minutes, but I'm still packing and now blogging. Oopsies!

ARRGGGGGG! Sometimes I get SO mad at myself!!! WHY OH WHY do I have to shower and get ready and iron a shirt, even if I'm leaving at some unreasonable hour to catch a plane to LA when I hope and pray to just spend the entire flight sleeping?!? WHY OH WHY can't I be that super-cool person who can just put on a hat and a t-shirt and run out the door?!? WHY OH WHY AM I SO LAME?!?

And I never set my watch on local time. I keep my watch on LA time (or, as I call it, "Louise Time" because that's where my baby is). So, when I woke up this morning, my watch said 3:30am. THAT does not make it easier to get up.

OKAY OKAY OKAY! I am SO late!

I'll be blogging in the COMMENT section. That's right gang - another FIELD TRIP!

See you in the COMMENT section!
Ross

Charlotte: Oh my achin' back.

October 13, 2006

Happy Friday, blog buddies!

I'm still in Charlotte North Carolina shooting a Tonight Show segment learning how to work in the pit crew for NASCAR.

So, umm... I kinda thought that being in the pit crew would involve, like, changing a couple tires and sitting around until the car came in for an oil change or something, but I couldn't have been more wrong. These people have to be in serious shape - they exercise all day, do agility tests, and practice changing 4 tires on a race car in about 12 seconds over and over and over and over again.

Here I am trying one of the agility tests (throwing a ball with your back against a wall - I'm not sure what this tests, but I was good at it, so I didn't care).
throwing ball.jpg

Then it was time to really get to work on one of the cars. Here I am trying to put on a tire.
changing tire.jpg

Okay. Those tires look like no biggie, but they weigh almost 70 pounds and are probably the reason why I can barely move this morning.

Here I am using the jack on the car in a position that the pit crew calls "the jack man". Every time they say it, I giggle.
jacking.jpg

We had an hour and a half break in the middle of the day and didn't know what to do or where to go to kill some time. But after the guys on my crew and I got into the van and drove around for a few minutes, it became very clear where we were going...
hooters ross peak.jpg

I was thrilled - the ladies love me!!!
me and hooters gals.jpg

I can't help it!

Then it was time to go back to the pit crew place and "race" against another pit crew members as we each took the lugnuts off the tires. Here I am after the race - I'm not excited because I won, I'm excited because I didn't lose by that much.
I won!.jpg

After a long day of shooting, it was time to hop into the van and drive back to the hotel. Yesterday I posted pictures of all the guys on my crew except for AC (our production assistant). I promised you I'd force him to take a picture for the blog and I kept my promise. Here's AC:
AC.jpg

North Carolina is beautiful and I thought I'd close today by sharing with you, my beloved blog buddies, a pretty little piece of the country (I took this from the car on the drive home):

I'm off to the pit crew to wrap this segment up!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Charlotte: pictures from the plane.

October 12, 2006

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

I'm writing to you from Charlotte, North Carolina where I'm shooting a Tonight Show segment with NASCAR!

I'm just about to run out of my hotel room to meet the crew in the lobby and head out for the race track, but I wanted to write a quick blog first.

We left LA early yesterday morning, but if you read the blog regularly you know that already. Did you take part in our 2nd ever RossBlog FIELD TRIP? If not, you totally missed out! We had SO much fun. Scroll down to check out yesterday's blog entry to read all the fun.

I took pictures during the plane ride and here they are!

I totally lucked out and got to sit next to my co-worker Anthony on the plane.
Oct 11 Ross n' Anthony.jpg

Anthony is a writer on the show and is in charge of directing and producing my segments. He's SUPER funny with a SUPER work ethic. Seriously - he was even editing one my upcoming segment on the plane (this is the segment where I make a fool out of myself in front of Dame Elizabeth Taylor... Oopsies!)
oct 11 Anthony editing.jpg

Here's a closer look:
Oct 11 anthony hand close up.jpg

Apparently, my work ethic is a bit lacking, because while Anthony was hard at work I was flipping though my tabloids. Oh well!
Oct 11 life n' style.jpg

I'm lucky enough to work with some AMAZING people! My co-worker Scott (our show's talent coordinator) sat in front of me :
Oct 11 Scott plane.jpg

And Izzy (a production coordinator on the show) sat behind me, but came up a couple times to say hi.
Oct 11 Izzy and me.jpg

AC, another co-worker, is with us but somehow managed to avoid getting his picture taken for the blog. THAT will change. :)

We spent last night exploring Charlotte (dinner and walking around) and planning tomorrow's shoot. There was a great thunder and lightening storm in Charlotte last night and I watched it all unfold as I fell asleep in my comfy bed in my fancy-dancy hotel room (that I'm not paying for)... life is good, my friends!

Okay, I'm totally running late. This East coast time difference always screws me up!

Until tomorrow!

RossBlog FIELD TRIP: Charlotte, North Carolina

October 11, 2006

Good morning, blog buddies!

It's an early blog today because I'm off to the airport in a few minutes to catch a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina to to shoot a Tonight Show segment about me learning how to be a member of the pit crew for NASCAR!

Did you watch me on The Tonight Show last night? Didya didya? If so, make sure you scroll down to yesterday's 2nd blog entry (directly below) to see exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures from my day yesterday!

We tried something fun here at the blog last time I went on a trip. I like to call it a ROSS BLOG FIELD TRIP!

Here's how it works:

In just a few minutes, I'll get in the car for the airport. I'll continue blogging about my entire journey through LA traffic, through the x-ray machines, checking my luggage - the whole deal. Where and how will I do this? In the COMMENT section of this blog entry using my Blackberry. So keep me company at the airport, blog buddies! Go to the COMMENT section (at the end of this blog entry) and blog back and fourth with me as we take a ROSS BLOG FIELD TRIP!

In other news...

I had to drop Louise off at my best friend's house last night - she watches Louise whenever I leave town. Here's a picture of me being sad and Louise having NONE of it.
louise - daddy don't go copy.jpg

But we kissed and made up.

I miss her already!

Okay gang - I'll see you in the COMMENT section! I've got to go finish packing!

See you in a few!

Behind-the-scenes of my day at The Tonight Show!

October 10, 2006

Hey there, blog buddies!

And a special "hey there" to all you new blog buddies who just saw me mention this blog on The Tonight Show! If this is your first time visiting the RossBlog, I've gotta ask:

WHERE IN THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!?

Seriously - this blog is HUGE. It's like the new Oprah.

We have SO much fun around here! Every day I post pictures and stories of my every day life, from the mundane to the magnificent. Also, sometimes we get celebrities to answer YOUR questions, or have fun give-aways, and oh so much more! Keep checking it out and tell your friends!

Also, check out our famous CHAT ROOM and my official MySpace page!

Just like every other time I have a segment air on The Tonight Show, here are some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from today. These pictures are HOT off the presses - we just taped tonight's episode of the show a few hours ago!

Here I am in my car as I drive through Burbank towards the NBC studios (umm... I should really keep my eyes on the road, huh?)
Oct 10 Driving.jpg

Here's the security gate at the NBC Burbank studios.
Oct 10 security gate.jpg

The first thing I do is go to my dressing room so I can put all my crap away - I always come with 4 different pairs of shoes, a bunch of different jeans, my camera and my laptop and an armful of different shirts because I can never decide what to wear.
oct 10 namecard.jpg

After we've rehearsed the show, gotten into wardrobe and makeup and practiced everything, all there is to do is wait until Jay calls me out onto the stage. Here's a shot of a monitor backstage while Jay is doing his monologue.
oct 10 jay monitor.jpg

Lance, the audio engineer on the show, puts a mic on me right before I go out on stage. Do I look nervous?!?
Oct 10 audio.jpg

Right before Jay calls me out, Anthony (the writer who directs/produces all my segments) swings by to wish me luck.
oct10 anthony and ross.jpg

And then the last minute mirror check. Anything in my teeth? No. Nose? No. Zipper up? Yes.
oct 10 ross mirror.jpg

And, as promised, here are a couple pictures of John Melendez and I dressed up as Sonny and Cher filming what you saw on the show tonight...

... get ready...

... no, I'm serious...

... no, really... you might want to sit down or something...

... or look away if you have a weak stomach...

... okay, I warned you...
Oct 10 snc wide.jpg

John makes a pretty... umm... interesting woman, right?!? In a good way, I mean. And I, of course, am quite the stud muffin in that mustache (if I do say so myself...)
oct 10 snc closer.jpg

Early tomorrow morning I'm off to the airport to head to Charlotte, North Carolina to shoot a Tonight Show segment as a member of the NASCAR pit crew. Look for an early morning blog and, like I did on my last trip, I'll be blogging in the COMMENT section with my Blackberry. Fun, right?!?

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!
Ross

We broke the camera.

October 10, 2006

Happy Tuesday, blog buddies!

********************

DON'T FORGET!!!

I'm on The Tonight Show TONIGHT!!! We're airing the segment I shot with Tonight Show announcer John Melendez at Cher's auction.

DON'T FORGET!!!

********************

I've been running around all day trying to get ready and I have absolutely NOTHING to wear on the show tonight. SERIOUSLY. I don't know what I'm gonna do. Should I go to the mall to find something new? Should I call the wardrobe department at the show and hope they have something? Or should I keep staring into my closet hoping that something will POP out at me and scream, "PAIR THIS SHIRT WITH THAT BLAZER TO MAKE FASHION MAGIC!"?

Oh well. Screw it. I'll look how I look and that'll do.

Last night I went to a sports bar with some friends to watch Monday Night Football. I'd post some of the pictures I took of my friends and I on the blog today, except all the pictures are seriously HORRIBLE. I'm serious. I'm not being self-deprecating at all - we ALL look HORRIBLE. It was like whoever was taking the pictures would say "Okay - on 3!" and then snap the photo on 2. Make sense? We all sort of look like the older, angrier, drunk versions of ourselves. To save myself (and my friends) from the embarrassment, I'll hold back and not post any of the pictures here...

OKAY - MAYBE JUST ONE!!!

Here's a picture of me and my best friend Kim:
bad pic.jpg

Okay. In real life, Kim is a STUNNING woman. STUH. NING. But here she looks what I imagine her drunk, sad aunt would look like (if she had a drunk sad aunt). But I have the privilege of being the real train wreck in this photo. Why does it look like I'm about to bite Kim's face?

Out of all the pictures we took last night, this was the best one. I'm not kidding.

In other news...

Tomorrow I'm headed to Charlotte, North Carolina to shoot a Tonight Show segment as a pit crew member for NASCAR. I'll be blogging the entire trip. More info tomorrow...

Make sure to check back here later tonight for another blog with exclusive photos of my day behind the scenes at The Tonight Show (as well as pictures of John Melendez and I dressed as Sonny and Cher!).

Also, I'll be in the CHAT ROOM for the East Coast airing of my segment on The Tonight Show. Come watch it with us!

Okay, gang - I'm off to find something to wear. Wish me luck!

PS - A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BROTHER, ERIC!!!

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

********************

Don't forget!!! I'm on The Tonight Show tomorrow night (Tuesday, October 10th)! We're airing the segment I shot with John Melendez at the Cher auction.

********************

I'm totally obsessed with Dancing with the Stars and I'm proud of it. This is the very first season of the show that I've watched. I've always kind of stayed away from shows where celebrities (or, in some cases, former celebs) do whatever it takes to stay on television and in the public eye. I felt bad for these people - I mean, they used to ruled the school (so to speak) and now they've been reduced to being the the kid who gets picked last in gym class (so to speak). I just never had the urge to see Mrs. Garrett from Facts of Life eat boiled goat ovaries or Bud Bundy from Married with Children compete against Carnie Wilson in a potato sack race.

Dancing with the Stars, however, has opened my eyes and I have seen the light. For the most part, these shows (the respectable ones, at least, like Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Fit Club, Surreal Life, etc.) give these celebs a chance to either:

A) Gain much needed exposure with a new audience.
and/or
B) Remind the world why they got famous in the first place: they do, indeed, have talent.

So, while the networks and producers get good TV, these celebs get something even bigger in return. No, I'm not talking about the ability to dance or the chance to lose weight or the chance to live in a house with Flava Flav - rather, they get to keep their dignity. Except, of course, for poor Mrs. Garrett.

So my question for you, blog buddies, is this: if YOU were a celebrity and had the chance to go on one of those reality shows with other celebs, which show would YOU choose and why?

I think I'd choose Celebrity Fit Club. Why? 'Cuz I'm tryin' to lose weight, dummy!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Why, thank you, stranger. And thank you, Kenny, for sending me that!

October 08, 2006

Happy Sunday, blog buddies!

Yesterday was a total bust. Well, not during the day, really - just at night. I was dead set on going out and having a good time last night because I've been staying in all week being really mellow and boring. I didn't want to go crazy or anything, but maybe just something like dinner (a healthy salad!) and drinks with a good friend (or two) out and about on the town.

So I went through my phone and started calling people who might want to hang out. The first person I called didn't answer. The 2nd person was busy. The next 4 people went straight to voice mail. The next person was feeling moody and didn't want to leave the house. I left messages for a few more people, too.

When 8 o'clock rolled around and no one had called back yet, I thought, "Just get in your car and drive towards that part of town. Someone's bound to call you by the time you get there and then you can just swing by and pick them up."

Cut to me an hour later drinking an iced tea at Coffee Bean by myself as I thumbed through an old Time Magazine I found in the back of my car, trying to not look sad and lonely as I kept checking my cell phone to make sure I had a signal.

I finally gave up, drove home, stopped by the grocery store for a thin crust Digiorno, cooked it right away, ate half of it as I watched The Biggest Loser on Tivo, felt sick and fat and went to bed.

Oh well!

Today is going to be a better day, though. I have plans to meet up with my friend Ryan and his mom to finally see Helen Mirren in "The Queen". I'm so excited!

Oh, and if you're new to these parts, I try to give my bloggers something fun to do on Sunday in a feature I like to call...

LAZY SUNDAY LINKS!
Lazy Sunday Link logo.jpg

This Sunday, I'm not giving you a link per se. Rather, it's a fun mind twister thing-a-mi-jiggy that can guess your age. So fun! Follow these steps and be amazed:

1. First of all, pick the number of times a day that you think about the RossBlog (more than once but less than 10... basically 1 thru 9).

2. Multiply this number by 2.

3. Add 5.

4. Multiply it by 50 - get your calculator and keep it out.

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756. If you haven't, add 1755.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number.

The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you think of the RossBlog per day).

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE!

WOW, right?!? I tried it and it worked for me. Did it work for you?

Apparently, 2006 is the only year that this formula will work. A big thanks to blogger TulipMom for sending this to me via MySpace. If you ever see anything that would be a fun LAZY SUNDAY LINK, send it my way!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

Snobby Oscar Films

October 07, 2006

Happy Saturday, blog buddies!

UPDATE!!! OH MY GOD!!! I totally forgot to mention something SUPER SUPER special when I wrote the blog this morning! It hit me as I was driving to my meeting across town...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! I hope you have a wonderful day! I LOVE YOU!

Now, back to today's regularly scheduled blog...

It's that time of year and I'm SO excited! You may not know that I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE movie buff. Like, HUGE. Of course, just like everybody else, I can enjoy a light fluffy Summer flick. However, I prefer those long, snobby films that come out around this time of year. What time of year is it? Oscar season!

You may not also know that I am like an Oscar expert. Seriously. I collect books about Oscar trivia, I'm trying to see every movie ever nominated for Best Picture, I make predictions when it comes time for the nominations and belong to a website where other Oscar dorks hang out and discuss all this crap.

It's official. I'm a dork.

But I don't care. I love it and I'm not ashamed. And, since it's that time of year, I'm getting ready to start seeing all the films that have HUGE buzz going into Oscar season - films like "The Queen", "Little Children", "The Departed" and oh-so-many more!

Part of the fun is watching the trailers online before anyone else gets to see them on TV or in the movie theatres. Have you ever done that? It's fantastic! Click HERE to go to my favorite movie trailer website. If you haven't yet, I recommend checking out the trailers for the movies listed above. But be careful - I've wasted many and many and many hours watching movie trailers. It's addictive!

I hope to be able to see "The Queen" sometime this weekend. I've been dying to see it and the other day while in was in the wardrobe department at work, Jay told me that it was really good. I'll give you my official review later.

Also, keep your eye out for my Oscar predictions as we get closer to the big nominations day (which, by the way, isn't until the end of January or beginning of February).

Right now, I'm late for a meeting on the other side of town, so I have to run run run!

Until tomorrow, blog buddies!

TGIF, blog buddies!

ROSS ALERT!!! THIS JUST IN!!! The segment I shot recently with Tonight Show announcer John Melendez at the Cher auction will air this coming Tuesday (October 10th) on The Tonight Show! I'll keep reminding you!

I've been busy all morning, running from meeting to meeting to meeting...

I had intended to write a very detailed, funny blog today with pictures and the whole shebang, but I totally ran out of time. Oopsies!

I did, however, have the genius idea of holding one of my meetings at the NBC commissary, so at least my belly is full and I'm happy. I'm also proud to report that I had a simple salad with a side of grapes. I'm still hungry.

Anyway, one of the people I had lunch with doesn't work here at NBC and kept blurting out, "Oh my God, that's so-and-so from Days of Our Lives!"

I, unfortunately, don't watch any soap opera's, so I didn't know who she was talking about. But it reminded me that I will never forgive myself for not getting into a soap opera at a young age. I am so so so jealous of people when they get to say things like, "Luke and Laura bla bla bla" or "Then Mateo said..." or "Erica Kane did what?!?"

When I have my daughter, I will do her the favor of setting her high chair directly in front of the television during Days or Y&R or GH so she'll never have to live with the regrets that I face every day.

In fact, I've decided that the buck stops here, folks. I am making the conscious decision, right here and now in front of you, my beloved blog buddies, to invest the emotional man hours into a daily soap opera. But which one?

This is where YOU come in. Which show is worthy of an hour (or half an hour) of my daily life? If I'm going to start neglecting my friends, family and work, it has got to be worth it. Which shows do you watch? What show should be my new obsession?

Thanks in advance, blog buddies!

Kar-bucks or Star-ma?

October 05, 2006

Happy Thursday, blog buddies!

Did you get a chance to watch my segment on The Tonight Show last night? If you did, you saw me eat s@*t and fall into the lake... three times! But I made it to the 2nd log, didn't I?!? Whooptie whoop!

Today on my way into work I stopped by Starbucks to grab an iced vente Americano. Now, if you've been reading the blog regularly, you know that I've been trying to quit Starbucks and switch to just normal everyday regular person household coffee. It hasn't been going well.

The Gods made me pay for my mistakes today. After grabbing my coffee from the barista and briskly jogging out the door, I spilled coffee all down my shirt. Seriously. All over.
Oct 5 coffee spill.jpg

That's Karma for you. Starbucks karma. Or should I say Kar-bucks? Or Star-ma?

So I decided to brush off work, swing through Subway to grab a 6-inch turkey on wheat, drop by Blockbuster to rent a movie, and turn my car around towards home to spend the day watching TV on the couch with Louise.

Ooopsies!

I've had a long long week and deserve a day off, I think. Right? Right...?!? Anyone?

Tonight I'm going to my friend Jackie Beat's show in West Hollywood and then coming home early to get a good night's sleep - after my day off today, I'd better be at the office bright and early tomorrow morning!

Have you ever just wanted to tell your entire day, "I'm taking the day off"? On behalf of all of us, I did it today. :)

Here's a couple pictures of Louise giving me kisses:

Too cute, right?!?

Okay gang, off to find another shirt to wear!

Behind-the-scenes from tonight's show!

October 04, 2006

Hola, blog buddies!

And an extra big "hola" to you new blog buddies who just saw me on TV and decided to come over to check out the ole' blog. I hope you like what you see!

I update this blog everyday with pictures and stories from my everyday life. You'll see everything from the mundane (like my trips to Starbucks or the mall) to the magnificent (like my days behind-the-scenes at The Tonight Show or hanging out with super-stars).

As well as the blog, you can also catch up with what I'm up to by checking out my CHAT ROOM and my official Myspace page.

Now, let's get to what went down today behind-the-scenes at The Tonight Show...

The first thing I did when I got to the studio today was go to the office of Anthony, a writer on the show and the guy who produces/directs all of my segments. Here we are going over the script of what I said when Jay called me out onto the stage to introduce my piece.
oct 4 Anthony and I working.jpg

Then it was time for rehearsal - this is when we try everything out for the first time. The only audience during rehearsal is a small group of producers, stage managers, writers, NBC pages, Jay Leno and me. Here's a picture I took as I was waiting backstage for Jay to call me out for rehearsal (this is where all the Tonight Show guests walk out from behind the big screen).
oct 4 Empty Stage.jpg

And here's a picture that Roberta, the stage manager, took of me as I came off stage after rehearsal. By the look on my face, you can tell that rehearsal went really well - after a horrible rehearsal, I'm usually ripping things up, punching the wall and throwing a total hissy fit. VERY Naomi Campbell.
oct 4 Exiting Stage.jpg

After rehearsal, it was time to change my clothes and get into make-up. I seriously don't know why I even try, you guys. Seriously - no matter what I do, I still just look like a chubby ball of pink. Oh well!

Here I am in my dressing room as Jay was finishing his monologue - only like 2 minutes before it was time for me to go out on stage!
oct 4 Jay on TV.jpg

I had SO SO SO much fun today! Even after a hundred and something segments on The Tonight Show, it never gets old. The lights, the stars, the free food in the dressing room... it's all fantastic and I love every minute of it!

In other news...

Did you watch Dancing with the Stars last night?!? I totally didn't watch this show until this season and I am seriously kicking myself now - IT IS SO SO GOOD! Mario Lopez is my pick to win, but is it maybe just a little teeny tiny bit lame that I got kinda misty when Jerry Springer danced for his daughter?!? Aww, screw it - I'm a super fan and Idon'tevencare!

I hope to see you all back here again tomorrow - same blog time, same blog channel!

Until then, blog buddies!

Watch The Tonight Show TONIGHT and a few pics from Cher's auction.

October 04, 2006

Happy Wednesday, blog buddies!

REMINDER!!! Tonight is the night! We're finally airing the segment I shot at the Lumberjack World Championships and, if I do say so myself, it's a pretty darn good one. So stay up or set your alarm clock or your VCR or your TIVO, 'cuz daddy needs ya'll to watch! Click HERE to read the blog from when I was in Wisconsin shooting this segment (and to see the pictures!).

DON'T FORGET TO WATCH TONIGHT AS I TURN INTO "ROSS THE LUMBERJACK"!!!

During the East Coast airing of my segment, I'll be in our CHAT ROOM (click HERE) to watch it with all of you! Come join us - it's easy and fun!

In other news...

Wow-oh-wow, what a day I had yesterday. Seriously. We spent the first part of the day at the Cher auction, and the second part shooting a video montage of Tonight Show announcer John Melendez and I as Sonny and Cher (he as Cher, me as Sonny). I took some pictures of us dressed up in our outfits, but OH MY GOD they are too amazing and I don't want to ruin it by showing you the pictures here! You'll all just have to wait and see the segment for yourself...

OH MY GOD WE LOOKED SO SO SO GOOD! Okay - here's a teeny tiny sneak peak:

sneak peak smaller.jpg

Unreal.

I did, however, manage to take some pictures of my day at the Cher auction. John and I shot the first part of this segment (which will air at the end of the month, I think) last week and needed to come back yesterday to go to the actual auction.

Being there was so so so cool. It was all Cher, all the time (Not that there's anything wrong with that).
picking cher's nose.jpg

For example, here I am standing next to one of the Bob Mackie gowns that Cher wore to the Oscars!
Me with Cher's dress.jpg

See?!?
cher in that dress.jpg

Then it was time to walk in to the actual auction, which was rather intimidating. Rich people were everywhere and would raise their little paddles whenever they wanted to bid on something. John and I, to say the least, did not exactly fit in.
Cher auction.jpg

But we dove in and got into the spirit of auction, "accidentally" spending $700 on a pair of Cher's size 7 polkadot platform shoes. Oopsies! Good thing it wasn't my money!

Here are John and I in our seats:
john n ross auction.jpg

And here's Kevin, our camera operator, as I turn the camera on him. Everyone say, "Hi, Kevin!"
Kevin camera.jpg

Now I'm running to NBC to do a quick voice over, running back to my house to iron something to wear (I'm thinking pinkish and floralish) and trying to find a moment in there to get my hair trimmed - it's suddenly super poofy.

See you all tonight, blog buddies!
Until then,
Ross

Cuhrazy day.

October 03, 2006

AHHHH, blog buddies!!!

I've been running around all day like a chicken with its blog chopped off. I had to be at NBC at 8am to get ready to go to the Cher auction to film the 2nd part of The Tonight Show segment that will air sometime in the future. But, before that, I had to drop Louise off at my friend's house and swing through Starbucks (oopsies).

Then we went to the auction and shot all day (maybe we even bought a little something special - you'll have to wait and see).

Now I'm off to get into makeup and wardrobe as Sonny Bono to shoot a little musical number with Tonight Show announcer John Melendez as Cher.

Don't worry, blog buddies - pictures tomorrow.

ALSO, DON'T FORGET THAT I'M ON THE TONIGHT SHOW TOMORROW NIGHT (Wednesday, October 4th)!!!!

Until then, blogarino's!
Ross

Welcome to the Silver Fox and October's Blogger of the Month.

October 02, 2006

Happy Monday, blog buddies!

REMINDER!!! I'm on The Tonight Show this Wednesday. Don't forget to watch!

I'm finally back from Palm Springs and have returned to normal life (minus Starbucks). I was seriously in fantasy land all weekend. Not only was I having an amazing time eating and drinking and winning trivia games at the local bar with my best friend Kim, but I was also day dreaming the entire trip about me as an older gentleman.

I picture myself in 40 years being a "silver fox" with shiny gray hair and an amazing tan. I think I'll either run for mayor of Palm Springs or open a nightclub called Silver Fox where I'll do a nightly show called "Silver Fox Live" so I can tell stories about my days in Hollywood and sing songs. Or maybe I'll do both.

Picture me sitting on stage in a floral kimono under perfect lighting as I answer the audience's questions, saying "s" like "sh" and referring to myself in the 3rd person.

"Yes, dear. You with the pretty red dress?"

"Hi, Silver Fox. Can you please tell us the Elizabeth Taylor story?"

"Oh honey, that story is as old as that hair do. (Wait for laughter) But sure, Silver Fox will tell you that story."

And then, after I tell the story, I'll burst into song. Maybe something like Moon River or a jazzed up version of Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Or not. Whatever. But it'll be genius and I'll be happy and I will live out my golden years as the Silver Fox.

Where was I...? Oh yes... Sorry. I got carried away.

In other news...

It's THAT time, blog buddies! Time to announce October's BLOGGER OF THE MONTH.

You voted and now I'm proud to announce that October's BLOGGER OF THE MONTH is...

MIKEY SANTA CRUZ
BLOGGER OF THE MONTH
OCTOBER, 2006

BotM Mikey.jpg

The votes were overwhelmingly in support of Mikey Santa Cruz and I feel that he absolutely deserves this honor - he posts positive comments every day and is always in the CHAT ROOM to welcome newbies and keep up with the regulars.

Congrats Mike Santa Cruz! Enjoy your month as our BLOGGER OF THE MONTH!

In his own words...

Hi I'm Mikey also known on the blog and in the chat room as MikeySantaCruz. OMG. I want to thank everyone who voted for me - what a great early birthday present. As most of you know I am HIV positive. When I found out I had HIV/AIDS two years ago, I had full blown AIDS. Now, two years later I'm only HIV+. I write for and co-edit an HIV/AIDS site along with the Gay Guru. My goal in life right now is to educate those who have and don't have HIV/AIDS about what it's like living with the disease. On a personal note, I would like to thank Ross, his friend Jackie Beat, and everyone else from the blog and the chat room who have donated to their local HIV/AIDS foundations.

Here’s how I found the ROSS BLOG: I heard that Rosie O' Donnell was going to be on "The Tonight Show" back in April. So there I was sitting in my room watching Rosie and they showed Ross sitting in the audience wearing one of Rosie's "go blog urself" shirts. When I heard they both blogged, I wanted to put both of their sites on my sidebar. I found Rosie's the first night but it took me a few days to find the ROSS BLOG. On April 22 of this year I found the ROSS BLOG. I even did a posting on my blog about finding the ROSS BLOG. Ever since then I have been hooked on Ross, his blog and the chat room. I have also found so much love, support, and good friends threw Ross's blog and the chat room. Ross also always makes me laugh. Someone once said that laughter is the best medicine. I truly believe that. Thank you Ross for always making me laugh!

Until tomorrow, gang!

Palm Springs Day 2: ROSKIM meets the IT.

October 01, 2006

Happy Sunday, blog buddies!

Okay. So, last night IT happened. We didn’t expect IT, but IT came up on us like a tornado without warning.

Before IT happened, Kim and I spent the entire day at the outlet malls just outside of Palm Springs. We both found some great deals, but the hot spot of the day had to be the going out of business sale at Club Monaco – half off of half off and even more. It was a dream come true. We walked in and almost couldn’t believe our eyes. Cut to me an hour later getting 2 sweaters, a new shirt and a pair of purple socks for a total of $26. Seriously.

After walking around the outlet malls for what must have been 6 more hours and finding some other great deals (can anyone say a pair of tweed loafers?!?), we decided to head back to the hotel to get ready for a nice, pseudo-fancy dinner out at a really great place called Matchbox. We shared a salad and a gouda pizza. The salad was great. The pizza? Not so gouda.

Then we went out to drinks to a new place we’d only heard about. Ehh. We both just kinda stared at each other and stirred our drinks. Eventually we both looked up and said, “Let’s go back to the place with the trivia!”
RosKim pre trivia.jpg

WE ARE ADDICTED TO TRIVIA!!!

Did you read yesterday’s blog? Didya didya? It was all about this bar in Palm Springs that has electronic trivia machines that let you play against everyone else in your bar as well as people in bars across the country. IT IS SO SO SO FUN.

The day before we did pretty well as trivia players, and last night was no different. We did pretty well. That is, of course, until IT happened.

IT was a surprise. No one could have predicted that IT would happen, but IT did.

What’s IT? IT is the fact that we… GOT 1st PLACE IN TRIVIA LAST NIGHT in the bar and 8th PLACE NATION WIDE!!!
RosKim1 copy.jpg

WE COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!!!
RosKim excited!.jpg

WE WON!!!
RosKim3.jpg

IT’s the little things, people.

Now we’re sitting at Starbucks, having coffee (oopsies) and taking advantage of their free wireless internet before heading back to the hotel to pack up, grab some breakfast and swing by the casino on our way out of town and back to LA.

I won’t be able to announce the BLOGGER OF THE MONTH until tomorrow or the next day (because I’ve been out of town and preoccupied). Sorry, gang!

Until tomorrow!
