the office Convention oct 26-28 - scranton,pa LIVE Blog

Greetings from Scranton

October 25, 2007

We've arrived in the Electric City and so far the town is everything we imagined and more. The people have been friendly, generous and extremely eager to make this first The Office Convention a success. From the City of Scranton to the Chamber of Commerce to the University, the hospitality we've been shown is second to none.

Several of the castmembers arrived today and the rest will be arriving tomorrow. The Office writers and producers will also be here to participate in the weekend's activities. Be sure to check back tomorrow as the Convention officially gets under way, starting with the cast appearing on the Today Show with Al Roker.

Here are some of the highlights so far from NBC.com 's first day in Scranton...

Happy Birthday, Craig!
Welcome cast & crew.
Thanks for bringing the office home to Scranton.

Happy Birthday Craig!!!

Can't wait to see everyone! I'll be there tomorrow! WOOHOO!!!

Aint no party like a Scranton party, cuz a Scranton Party don't stop!!!

i live in harrisburg i will be there ASAP.

I'm so happy for Scranton. I lived in nearby Wilkes-Barre for seven years. That region definitely needs a boost and this is certainly that!

Big props to the cast and producers for showing up and making it special for everyone.

Go to the Banshee for me!

Let the Scranton party begin!

hey, how about some RSS feeds for the blog?!?!?!

If I didn't have to roam the sidelines at the game this weekend (Penn State vs. Ohio State) I would definitely grab Sue (my wife) and head to Scranton to thank the greatest cast and crew since Seinfeld! I make sure to be home from practice and catch the show every Thursday!

I live in Scranton and i LOVE it. Scranton is the best place you could live in the world. REMEMBER- ain't no party like a scranton party

i should have failed a couple years of college then i wouldnt have missed this! have a blast! i love jim!

go scranton and the office!have fun

So far so good!!! There were about 5,000 people at the university of Scranton this morning for the Today show, and this was just the beginning. I grew up in Scranton and one thing I do know is that they will be partying in the streets this weekend in the downtown.

This will be a great weekend. I heard though on another board, that the University of Scranton only let students and staff anywhere near where Al was. That's too bad. They should have let people know, rather than keeping it to themselves, and something as exciting as that should have been shared with the people that got up early to have fun and enjoy the show! Not very nice University of Scranton! I am sure the rest of the city will be more welcoming to everyone attending than the University was!

See you downtown! :)

Hey, I saw you with Al Roker this morning. Happy Birthday Lindsay!

Welcome from Da U (The University of Scranton)

I wished that I knew about the cast being on The Today's Show, because I would have so wacthed it.

I love you Dwight!

I hung out at Poor Richards Pub All The Time a few years back.I wish they would post a pic or two of the inside

Welcome to Scranton, now you have to ask yourself, Why go to Scranton? The answer is easy, Why Not?

I think it's awesome that the cast finally gets to see where their show takes place! While I'm only living here because of school (MARYWOOD U.!!!) it's such a wonderful place to be in! I love you guys (esp. Michael and Dwight!!!)-- keep up the good work and thanks for coming!!! :D

Hey I live nearby the mall of america. Maybe you should throw conventions at other big locations along with scranton.

Met everyone last night at the Radisson! What a FABULOUS group of people! Craig serenaded us to "Piano Man" in the lobby late at night, and we saw Ed at The Bog (a bar in downtown Scranton). Ed did some banjo picking with the band! The whole night was just AWESOME!! THANK YOU to everyone at The Office!!

:( i'm so sad...if only i had some money to go from wisconsin to pennsilvania i would...but i don't...but i stil LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUV the office and everybody in it (especially jim)

Wouldn't it be nice if the produces were able to play the great song "scranton PA" by James Cullen on the show ? This song was played on the documentary about Scranton which aired on WVIA-TV.

There are pictures of Ed Helms playing banjo with Cabinet at the Bog posted on www.cabinetmusic.com and on Cabinet's myspace page at www.myspace.com/cabinetwax

It is great to have great people and so much excitement in Scranton, Pennsylvania! Stop down to Poor Richard's Pub and have a drink with us!

Hey, Scranton! How awesome is having the Office Convention actually happening in your town! I am so envious and wishful that I was there!

well i was walking back to the house where im stayin and i got to talk with Angela. she is the nicest person i ever met. she is really down to earth. she signed a plate thing i won at the mall early today. she was really mice. i asked her who plays the most a pranks on set and she said that they all have diffent weeks to play them and she said that brian (kevin) is IM her all this nasty dirty stuff while they are filming and she cant laugh caues of her character. wow i love the office

Saturday night in Scranton---Wild for you! You were all the nicest people in the wildest crowd! Good luck in the future! You are great people! Down to earth people!
Pat

could have gone just a little to busy 25miles away yet.

Thanks to one and all for making this convention an AWESOME experience. I traveled all the way from Dunmore, PA just to be a part of it!

:-)

Here's to hoping for "The Office Convention: The Sequel" in 2008!

I just wanted to thank Scranton and eveyone involved in the planning of the event.
The best part of the weekend was when it seemed like the cast and writers were just as happy to see us as we were to see them

We had such a blast at the convention this weekend. I hope the cast enjoyed it. Meredith & Creed rocked on stage with the Scrantones! The cast Q&A was hysterical!
Can't wait for next year!!
Looking forward to more pics and video from the rest of the weekend!

My husband and I traveled 10 hours, each way, from Indianapolis, IN and had an incredible time at the convention! The cast was so down to Earth and extremely friendly - we were very impressed with the number of cast members we got to meet!

The city of Scranton was so welcoming and is just such a friendly city! Thank you for a fantastic time! Can't wait til next year!

Thanks to all the cast, writers and visitors for visiting our city. We live a few blocks from downtown Scranton and have been fans of The Office since the BBC series. It was a thrill for us to have everybody here for a non stop party! Favorite moment: clinking glasses W/ Ed Helms @ the Bog and watching him play banjo and sing w/ the band.

This is extremely random, I know...IU/Iowa basketball game 2002 in Manhattan.

The Scranton I remember is Nay Aug park and the Globe store and Chick's Diner and instead of going to the mall you went to the Sears Roebuck store for your one pair of school shoes, and Polish family weddings with lots of food and drink and dancing the polka, and Moosic Street with 20,000 pounds of bananas, and that great Scranton accent where everyone woks and toks. Am I old, or what? Anyone else remember these? I live in Tennessee now, and I miss Scranton! Hey, why don't they do an episode where they travel to Moscow? PA,of course.
