What an interesting couple of days this has been. First off, I got a call from my old mate in the British Royal Navy this morning while I was still dripping wet from the shower. Jimmy (not his real name) was once a promising football player until he lost a big toe in a freak shipyard accident. Jimmy found solace in malt whiskey and never quite recovered from his shattered dreams. He was completely sauced when he rang me, of course, and it was a sad reminder of how people's lives can take sudden and dramatic turns.
Speaking of dramatic turns, Dr. Derek Douglas, the esteemed neurologist and husband of Beacon Hill murder victim #3, Dr. Amy Tropos is no longer employed at Boston General hospital. It turns out he was relieved of his duties on June 10, 2003, nearly fifteen months after the death of his wife. Why, you ask? Evidently, he was dipping into the prescription narcotics cabinet and helping himself to morphine sulfate and oxycodone. Colleagues reported his behavior as 'erratic' for six months before he was finally asked to undergo drug testing. A few positive results later, he was forced to take a leave of absence and enter a rehab program. The problem is Dr. Douglas never showed up for rehab. Instead, he disappeared completely from the Boston area and now his current whereabouts are unknown.
Another fascinating development in this murder re-investigation is the recent pickle Danny Gould has found himself in. If you recall, Danny was an eyewitness in the 2002 investigation. Two nights ago, Danny was picked up on a DUI and found with - get this - an unregistered 9mm gun in the glove compartment of his car! What in the world was he doing with that, you say? Well we shall soon find out. Stay posted and be sure to check out my new 'REWARD' link. It'll take you to the webpage of a mysterious benefactor who's offering a prize to anyone who helps solve the Beacon Hill murders. There are a few parameters for collecting this reward so read up and good luck sleuthing!
