Hi. This is Glenn Gordon Caron and I’m the creator and executive producer of Medium. After tonight’s East Coast premiere of our special two hour episode “Four Dreams”, I’m going to be participating in a “live” blog---as opposed to a “dead” blog which is really more Allison’s thing. I’m very interested in your reactions and would be happy to answer any questions the episode might provoke. So please come back after the show is over, armed with your keyboard. I just saw yr dream sequence for Allison featuring a Southeast Asian woman who is supposed to be from Indonesia.
It's a little silly and sloppy on your part to have her speak in Tagalog, the main language of the Philippines.
Those are two very different countries. At least be accurate.

medium is a brilliant, intelligent show. thanks to you and the entire cast and crew for bringing it to us! the dream sequence of the boy in the minivan rollover was particularly well done in the season premiere ep tonite.

you are killing this 2 hour premier with an hour of commercials. big mistake.

Sorry, but the show just didn't have it's rhythm and was very disjointed. The actors were awkward and the story line was really forced. We got tired of watching and didn’t even finish the show. I'm not sure we'll continue watching.

I liked Patricia better with long hair.

I just wanted to thank you for staying with NBC and keeping the show alive. I use scenes from MOONLIGHTING to teach composition--- yes, composition, because of the clarity and character. Your voice is brilliant. And I never use more than legally acceptable. I just wanted to say thank you for giving us your voice. It always gives a payoff and remains character centered. THANK YOU!

Great new show but what happened last season with the last episode?

I love the show but this episode appeared too choppy and alittle long. I do like the way you integrated the little girl into this more with different view on the visions.

I am so VERY glad that Medium is back on, even if it is on a new night. I kept looking for it for two months on Monday nights and was dismayed because I thought they had taken it off.

I really enjoy this show. I was sooo happy to see it come back, I was worried. I am just now watching the last 10 minutes. I like when she talks with Ghosts.. let's see more of that!!!

Show is Great was very upset when we thought it was not coming back on. Lots of my family watch the show. Keep up the good work.

P.S. How about an episode where alison hunts for a killer that kills busybodies you know those neighbors that mind everyone elses business.

Way too many commercials made it very disjointed and the monkey cartoons were very violent. Usually enjoy the show every much. Saw the ending coming.

Why must you show them drinking beer every single night and with dinner also? It's so obvious. Not such great parental examples, are they?

I have missed this show so much. It is nice to have it back on tv. I missed last season because of work but this season it will not be missed. It is really good to see it on a Wednesday night as well, instead of a Monday, a sure sign that it is gaining in popularity.

Hi Glenn, Medium concept and story line is outstanding. However the ridiculous bickering, petty fights and squabbles are so annoying, I'm unlikely to watch another episode.

They do nothing to further the story. I find this "slice of life" to be anything but entertaining.

The show was great..felt like it explored a bit more of the relationship with Alison's husband. Often wonder what's happening between them.
Love that the kids are experiencing some of the phenomena..hope there's less fear and more acceptance for them all. It really is a part of their lives together.

I am very excited for this season. I was so glad when I saw the commercial saying the season begins tonight. If this is any indication of what the season is going to be like, I can't wait for the season to continue.

The premiere has been great, good work! I just wanted to comment on two things I love about this show. 1) The relationship between Allison and her husband: I love how they have such a balanced, loving, healthy relationship (rare on tv). And I also love Jake Weber and how his character isn't whipped like that guy on Ghost Whisperer. Jeez! 2) I love the sudden cuts to commercial. Usually there's some dramatic pause or a music-y flourish, but not on this show. It's just like, BAM! Commercial! I love it.

I have been a fan from the beginning and always look forwarded to new episodes. What I like the most is that you can get so confused in the first 45 minutes with what is happening with the characters, the dreams etc... and then Bang! everything fits together at the end just like a puzzle and it truly makes you say. Wow! That was cool!

Yes I was wondering do you believe in real life mediums? and another thing thank you for allowing lifetime run the reruns of medium i am usually at work or school so i catch up on the episodes i missed and also the one's i love i hope you have many more years of success and keep making those great shows and please tell patricia we love her.

Your story line continues to amaze us all. Have you considered doing a show on a child who is "sick" and Allison can help the child. Or she could see something bad to come and help prevent it.

The negitive comments here are bogus... great show, great creativity and realistic "husband-wife" relationship that many can identify with. Loved the Monkey's. We see the monkeys... does the child see these scenes? I hate that sort of intensity exposure to children, however, she is a great little actress.

This is one of my favorite show and I really enjoyed this premiere. It was really well done. I think it was very well done that you hadve mom and child bonding with the dreams though its sad the child has to go through that. But it shows the reality of it all. This is an enjoyable TV show. I am uncomfortable, however, with the children's involvement. I think the show would be improved by writing out any but basic family interaction with the kids.

I've enjoyed every minute of Medium's premiere tonight. You've been able to maintain wonderful characters that, going into the third season, could easily become as much caricature as the cartoons featured in the dream sequences. A real joy to watch.

hey man...love the show, loved tonight edpisode. watching the end right now, a tiny bit predictable but thats great drama...i dont mean to be forward, but had a great idea for the show. One season you introduced the brother, but never developed him...How about if allison and he had dreams of from people who were murdered in there particular area...im assuming he lived in another state. He's sober and starts following leads his guide is sending him, while allison is doing the same...they end up meeting in an area they both are investigating, uncovering the remians of a body...that leads them to a serial killer...that killed in both their states....if you use this i would need credit..thanks, Nicky Siano, the DJ

Where do you do you find your inspiration? The show is unique and seems to have an artistic imporvization to it. Patricia Arquette is a lovely actress and the original reason I started watching the show. Good show.

I didn't like Allison narrating throughout the episode. I loved the dreams. I love the way you guys show the intimacy of a married couple without being corny.

Excellent opener... your show always delivers new twists and spins on Allison's gift and of course you've been hinting at her children. I hope you never lose your knack for original ideas for the show. My wife and I love it so far. Just how closely does the show follow the real Allison? As a kid, I thought it would be neat to have her gift... the show has shown me it a real curse and a big responsibiblity. I think it's a great show, and a great premier. I love that it's not just focused on her psychic powers, but a lot about her marriage and role as a mother. Thanks for making it a real-life type relationship, and for keeping the show fun. My only comment would be that the disbelief the Detective & DA still have is a little old, since she's always right!

I'm an aspring screen writer, and I'm watching medium, just by coincidence, and I'm wondering how it is you go about pitching an idea like "medium" to a television network? are they sketchy about taking on sci-fi-esque shows?

Oh, and I love the way you never try to over explain her abilities, sometimes writers are set on defining these processes, but they usually end up conveluded and confusing and its better that you don't.

I want to say thank you. If it wasn't for your show I would have never felt normal. I knew immediately that you were consulting with a real medium. I get scared that the show won't be exciting enough for others because it's what really happens when you can see people or souls on the other side. All my life I've had to piece dreams together or talk to people that had passed because they knew I could see them. Now I try to figure out each episode & I usually do. Tonight was no exception, but what a pleasure to play along. I saw the towers come down just hours before it happened. I thought that was so unfair & it's haunted me. Thank you again for the show.

please continue the great work...use the daughters more in the helping to solve crimes...and bring back MOLLY RINGWALD again - she was terrific...

I just watched the premiere. This is a great show, the concept is awesome and I like the realness of the characters ouside of the main characters abilities. I too have dreams of things to come... and so now does my daughter so I identify with the show very much.... what I like about the show is that Allison is so real... she's down to earth and not some super type person.... wonderful humanity to the show....

The art dealer as mastermind was predictable. I think the Thomas Jane character offered possibilities for Allison that were undeveloped.

I have always enjoyed your shows, especially Moonlighting and now Medieum. You have a romantic soul and an offbeat sense of humor which I realy enjoy. Have you ever written anything for the Theater?

So glad the show is back. I find it intelligent, interesting. Yes the multiple plots are a great idea. But don't push too hard. Lots of what works is in the performances, especially Patricia Arquette. One of the FEW interesting shows on TV.

Have waited all season for this to come back on.Thought this was a really good show.Glad you had more of the family involved with it.Keep up the great story lines

I am a huge fan and been watching it since it started. This was a GREAT way to start off the season! Two hours really helped develop the emotional level and relationship between Allison and her talents. I like the side story with Scanlon and D.A., keeps it real!! Please keep up the good work and don't fall into predictable plots, that's when it will get BORING!

I love Medium...great 2 hour season premiere. I was so worried it would not be on. Glad it and Patricia is back!

I keep trying to like this show but I can't believe how bad an actress Patricia Arquette as Allison is! She has no personality and is so monotone! Every show she questions her eerie dreams like it is the first time it happened! I think by now she would know she is going to have dreams and visions and wouldn't make a why me out of it?

This lived up to my anticipation. It was brilliant. I have been waiting for this & so excited to have seen it finally. I have been a very loyal follower of the show since it began. I love it, & have gotten several people watching it. Good move to Wed. nights. THANK YOU!

I loved the episode. It was very good. Had me worried it wouldn't be on this season. Great start to the season. I think it'd be neat to do a show like that. Is it hard to come up with ideas? I love this season premier. I love every ending of each episode, they are so creative and unique. I really like the relationship between Allison and Ariel, are we going to see more episodes where they will interact a little more? It is a really good example of mother and teenage daughter relationship.

You need to keep medium believable. I think it's getting too much like ghostwhisperer which is getting to be unbelievable.. ie non physic's shouldn't have physic experances.

What is the history behind the casting of these two (MHO) unusual choices...?

Oh, and I like the haircut, it's more mod... give the girls a makeover their hair (especially the oldest) reminds me of LITTLE HOUSE!

Not a bad start. Can't figure why they moved from Monday nite, as great as the show is- you're bound to lose audience... Maybe you'll pick them up over time. The cartoon was a nice touch. Well done and added to the specialness of the premiere. Keep up the good writing, character development is Key! Can't wait for the baby girl to develop. I'll be watching.

Been a fan of yours since Davlin days at Geneseo. This show is your best yet. I loved the new intro & way you used the the handheld shots. The story was very engaging & suspenseful (if that's a word). With the supernatural element a less talented writer would resort to clues that only the supernatural could use see but the thread of physical evidence in a Sherlock Homes style. Inspired. The family life story has unadorned real dialogue that gives the show a solid grounding.

Excellent show. It is amazing how such a young actress "Brigitte" can contribute to the success. She is so funny! The msg on Diabetes and the importance of managing the disease came across loud and clear. Is Diabetes something that is close to you personally??

Hi, I looked forward to this show for the last month. I hope Medium never goes off the air. My family were spiritualists, had an aunt who was a medium, and a great uncle, both a medium and healer, who channeled a German speaking doctor. Trainloads of people came to the summer camps in Cherry Valley, Illinois for his ministry. So in our family, it is normal to speak to those who have passed on, and to get messages from them in dreams. I am so glad there is a show about a real medium, in present day activities, helping to solve crimes, and having such a lovely family. The portrayal of them is so charming and real. Thank you, thank you.

I was wondering why the middle child is the one who usually sees the violence.. the one show I remember with the older child was that she was actually tricked by the ghost she saw.

I am very interested in the paranormal and absolutly love this show! The actress portays the character very well. It is beautifuly written, choosing not to paint all psychics with the same brushstroke. Many psychics are "real people" whose challenge is to balance their physical world with the spiritual world. For they are both very real.

I have been waiting SO long for Medium to come back on NBC. Patricia and show is my all time favorite. It doesn't encourage people to seek a medium. Nothing weird! It's plainly a show of a great imagination and suspense. Love the stories. Tonight's premium was one of the best examples of a genius at work. I look forward to seeing the rest of the season episodes.

Well, its over and im sad BUT i have both season 1 and 2 on DVD and im popping one it..once those are done (and it wont take long) i will have to wait for wed @ 10. I hope the show stays on for a long time but it must be difficult to thing of new story lines..do you take suggestions?

I think you are doing a diservice to those who are the real thing (who already have a bad PR problem) by presenting your show as "based on reality" when it is one of the most unrealistic depictions I've seen on the screen, TV or movie. Tonite's show was especially far from the mark in several different ways.

Thought it moved slowly with the extra fluff about the detective's and the DA's personal lives...that and all the commercials. Love the show; hate when it's not on. Look forward to more episodes with DuBois family and Alison's work as focal point.

Re: key2. Non-psychic can feel the presense of a spirit. It just depends on how open-minded the person is. Joe isn't psychic but he's live in a house full of them.

I looove the show, but would like to know how much of the show is based on real "Alice"'s life?

I get the feeling that you have consulted the real Allison many a time; The reason I watch this show is because it's so drastically different from any other "sci-fi"/"supernatural"-type show I've ever seen. Some of these aren't exactly "loosely"-based on similar experiences. Am I far off? Basically, what I'm asking, is how much is based on experience, and how much comes from the brilliant minds of you and your writers?
The premiere was amazing! Not my absolute favorite, but not disappointing. Can't wait for next Wednesday!

Tonight was great.the haircut wasn't great on Allison.I too like Allison with the dream stuff have alot in common,although hers are for the show, mine are real..but she does play that role excellent and husband is the best and the kids are hillarious.Briget for sure.Very well done show.I too wish there were no commericals and I am glad your back on and a different time is GREAT...before it was 10 before I could watch...8 is so much better.

Great episode... as usual. I like how Allison seems to be getting more comfortable around her kids with her abilities. It was nice when Allison came right out and said "I saw it too".

It's always interesting when the girls get a taste of what their mother experiences daily.

The crime plot was intricate, but not really compelling. Violent, but not as enjoyably dark as the show is at times. Still, I'm thrilled the show is back - thanks and I look forward to more!

I'm really glad Medium is back, I thought it was a done deal. Next time could you give us a heads up when its going to show up or leave. Also I love Patricia playing the part of Alison, she is so much better than that phoney LoveHewitt on Ghostwhisperer or Horsewhisperer which I tried watching but it just doesn't compare to the sincerity of Patricia's character. You'll keep me coming back if you "Keep it Real".

Has anything "paranormal" ever happened on the set? What are your personal feelings on the subject of ghosts?

I absolutely love "Medium". I look forward to every episode. Need more "psychic" experiences. Great that daughter also has gift. Able to expand there. She's better with longer hair. Premier tonight had WAY WAY too many commercials. Very upseting to see more commercials than Medium.

I totally enjoyed the show tonight. I'm so glad you are back on the air!!! I personally am grateful to you for including the diabetes storyline. My 3 year old son has type 1 Juvenile Diabetes and takes multiple shots a day. As you may or may not know November is Diabetes Awareness month. Thank you so much for bringing silent killer to a prime time audience. Who's idea was it to put this in the story line and do they have any connection to diabetes?

This was a great episode, as always; this show gives a hope of resolution to people who have lost loved ones in horrific murders. If there is any way to contact the real Allison Dubois about an unsolved grisly murder in Nashville, TN I would appreciate the help. The victim was an mmigrant from Eritrea who necame a citizen. She disappeared on May 4th, 2006 and her body was found on 05/07/06. She had been shot and burned, and there are no leads. Her family is still afraid that the same fate could happen to them. This is one case that needs closure for the family. Thank you for any help.

Hey everyone! Well the show just ended! It was so awesome. I think it was Patricia Arquette's real-life hubby who played her ex-boyfriend in the show. Vey cool. I loved the monkeys, and this eppy is soo great! I saw the preview for next week, and it looks so good too! I love this season so far, and I love the hair of all the characters! Of course, Jake Weber looking so hot as usual!!! Love ya guys~!

I Absolutely loved the show tonight. All of you are obviously brilliant writers but as you are writing do you question your use of disbelieve toward Allison? I mean how long have they been working together? She has proven her gift so when they laugh or make a negative comment about the validility of her dream it just seems to be misplaced. But what do I know, I am planning to have Medium parties at my home. So you must be doing something right.

I skipped school tonight just to see the season opener. Loved this show from the getgo. Read both of Alison's books. The whole cast is phenomenal. The chemistry is great between all the actors. Jake and Patricia are perfect together. So are her tv kids - funny and beautiful. How often do you speak to the real Alison for input on your scripts? She must have endless stories to share with you. I love Medium. The long commercial breaks are a killer. I thought I was watching TBS! There has to be a better way to appease the advertisers and keep me from flipping channels. Like the premise of dealing with the "daughters's" abilities. Keep building on that!

I like Medium because Allison seems so normal. And even though she has the dreams, she doesn't always know how to interpret them, at least not at first. She doesn't come across as a perfect, know-it-all. And I love the actress that portrays Bridgette. What a jewel!

To this person: This may sound, erm, odd... But I'e had, let's say, a few-- okay, many-- odd things of this nature happen for years and hell if I ever figure it out. I don't think it's something that can ever be fully understood, or defined or analyzed like a science and I think that's one of the main themes of the show. Just a thought.

I love this show! I think it would be neat to see Allison's oldest daughter go through the transition of becoming a medium and to see how Allison helps her through the transition. Allision needs a new hair do preferably longer and a sexier wardrobe.

Hi, I really love the show and the comparison of Allison dreams with the "monkey heads" dreams of her daughter was great. It is so true that children dream differently than adults.

great show! I dissagree with a previous comment that the shows flow was disjointed... I usually write on scrapbook forums while I watch tv. while Medium is on my laptop falls asleep because I'm too interested in following the show, looking for answers before the show reveals them. This particular episode fulfilled the required quota for all the repeats we've been seeing Lately! I love that the children became slightly involved by each parent. part of you cringes and thinks...don't go there..but the other part of you is happy to see it unfold this way. the old boyfriend hangin' out was well thought out. different dynamics were demonstrated in a realistic way...folks could relate to Allison's side as well has her husbands. the anger and jealousy, and how the husband took matters into his own hands to get his message across. I felt that the way he avoided revealing what he had said as though he could not remember...you know he remembered exactly what he said, and you could sense that he was somewhat uncomfortable/embarrased or ashamed or something, all realistic examples. the story line was both interesting and fun for the viewer and the actors did an excellent job in their portrayal allowing viewer involvement and complete understanding of the messages within the story. thanks for the entertainement! can't wait to see next weeks show.

I loved Patricia Arquette in "Stigmata" and was thrilled when I saw she would be in your show. I haven't been disappointed. In reading the comments tonight, several people have voiced a dissatisfaction with the rhythm. I think you did a great job with character development and setting the stage for the season. I hope that the detective and the Asst. Mayor work through their issues. He's so cute!

Thank you for an entertaining and wonderful show that isn't a "reality" show. I've always been interested in the supernatural. I think everone has the ability of second sight, just some are more available to it and acknowledge it. I have seen a few ghosts, spoke with one, and even had one live with me for several years. Great season premiere and a wonderful show overall! I admit I first dismissed Medium when it was initially advertised, because NBC has probably the worst promo monkeys ever and made the series look hokey... But when I discovered who the creator was - the same man responsible for Moonlighting and Now and Again - I immediately tuned in and have been hooked ever since. Given how those two series both ended, how has your relationship with the network affected your work on Medium, if at all?

I'm glad to see the network finally worked out a slot for one of my favorite shows. That's says a lot since I don't watch a lot of TV. "Heroes" is my other favorite... I really like/appreciate that you left out the religous (Christian) factor in Medium — unlike that poor copycat "Ghost Whisperer" or whatever it's called on the other network. I also noticed in tonight's season premiere show that Joe is less pessimitic and a cold ass about Alison's abilities. It was getting to be really annoying. Do you think you'll ever include any permenant characters of colour to the show? Keep up the great work!

Your show is amazing; one of the best on television. I also really enjoy the chemistry between the cast members. The family dynamic is so realistic - it's as if I were watching a real family instead of actors.
I also love how you always take risks with each episode. There is always something new and exciting. Do you intend on producing another 3-D episode?

Thank you for an entertaining and wonderful show that isn't a "reality" show. I've always been interested in the supernatural. I think everone has the ability of second sight, just some are more available to it and acknowledge it. I have seen a few ghosts, spoke with one, and even had one live with me for several years. I believe! Thank you for such a beautiful show and thank you Allison for everything you are! YOU ARE A HERO.

It is such a well-crafted show, with lots of fun plot twists and interesting observations about life in general. I have loved this show since the beginning! I was actually getting impatient waiting for the premeire this season. Anyway, I loved tonight's episode, well worth the wait, and the diabetes part really got me.. I have a 5 year old with type 1 diabetes, she's had it since she was 2. I'm curious about the reason, thoughts behind the diabetes storyline?

Just wanted to add that the family is so realistic. It is so nice to see such a normal family with its up's and downs and if you didn't have all those commericals I might think "I" was having a dream. And I love Patricia's hair. Go Medium!!!!

I was wondering if you've ever had an experience where something happened that you couldn't explain. I've had loads of them but I've gotten used to it by now.

I wrote in earlier to say how happy I am that you are back, that I did forget to ask you something that I have wanted to know. I've told savvy TV viewing office mates to watch this great show, but they are turned off by the lack of racial diversity in the story lines. I understand their p.o.v. but... why is there so little diversity?

This is a great show. I love the way you are able to convey the trials of a medium and the trials of a working mother who has to deal with her real life just like everyone else.

Is there a Hitchcockian thing happening with blondes? I just realized all the female better halves in this episode were blonde.

Maddie Hayes also a blonde.

Does a dark haired girl have a chance in one of your shows?

I love the show. I was so afraid of the late season opener. I was watching and looking for it for months. I love the way you take the storyline from beginning to end with such creativity. You can tell you care about each and every show, and character within(which all work together perfectly) Thanks for a great opener, and now my favorite TV night as switched to Wed. from Mon.

I just finished reading ALL the comments here. I really like that this forum was created and I enjoyed your responses. Thank you for taking the time. I do really enjoy the show and was so upset when I thought it was cancelled. It was great to bump into it tonight. I would like to see them drink less though... perhaps this may add to their realness... but I watch this show with my teenage daughter and I really don't like beer as coping mechanism... maybe Allison takes up YOGA?? :-)

You do an excellent job all the way around ...great script, great color contrast, both visual and characterisation(?)...A must see for intelligent viewers...
