Is Los Angeles a character?

Absolutely. Los Angeles, the city itself, is so different than the city Crews left years ago, and I wanted it set in a city of sunshine. Charlie has had 12 years in a dark box, and I wanted the show to be full of life. I worked in NY for years, I shot a pilot there and wanted this to be different. You can tell dark stories in the sunshine, and that's what I wanted to do.

I think the Buick Grand National can be classified as a character of the show also. Charlie needs to get it back from the girl and have it in the show more often. Dukes of Hazzard had the General Lee and Knight Rider had KITT. Like needs the BGN. Maybe I'll even borrow out my mint Monte Carlo SS!! Life is an awesome show!!!

I saw the premiere last night and loved it. Along with the concept of LA as a "character," I really like the touches where Charlie tries to grasp how much the world has changed. Having to look up "IM" and being surprised by the handless cell phone in his car. All this was a great touch.

Keep it up. I hope this show is a success because I am already into the characters.
