personally i don't think Eames and Goren should get involved in a relationship it would change the show way too much! Never, ever mix work with pleasure it's recipe for disaster. i couldn't take it if they had to get new partners because of a couple problem. Like the others said they balance each other out!
I recently saw a promo for the new season showing Goren sitting on the floor of his kitchen and Eames just crying by herself. I can't help but think they are thinking of each other and hope they can realize thier feelings for eahc other and show it during htis season. A romance scene such as Goren maybe simpling holding Eames would make the season.
I would love to see a romance between Goren and Eames. I think that they would be perfect for each other even though they are different. They would "balance" each other's personalities. I want to at least see some tangible signs of their relationship come out in the show.

I think seeing Eames and Goren become closer would be great! On SVU we always see the detectives at their houses and stuff like that. I think it would be fantastic to see Goren and Eames at their homes, see how they really are. Character development is a beautiful thing... and the best way to do that is to have the characters interact with each other.
As for romance or friendship-- whatever is fine with me. The way L&O plays out generally, any romance would be a subtle "are they or aren't they" tease.
Just my opinion! The more emotional entanglements characters can have within the L & O formula (with each other or the stories), the better the entertainment.
Unfortunately, Dick Wolf uttered the word "soap" years ago, and now it has become an on-line fandom bandwagon that doesn't necessarily reflect critical thinking, what people actually enjoy, or what gets ratings...
Ilove this season's first episode. Seeing a glimpse into the relationship of Goren and Eames gives more depth to the characters. Please no romance, I don't think I am ready for that.

I love CI! It was the first L&O that I tuned into, and now I love the whole franchise.
Will Goren and Eames ever be romantically involved?
I really enjoyed Tuesday's premiere, and one of the reasons was for the slight shift into personal relationships. It was not only a minor shift, but one which makes a great deal of sense. Police officers pursue dangerous people; sometimes those people are going to make an impact on a police officer's life, and it would be a cold world indeed if your partner didn't care. In fact, I hadn't realized until Tuesday's episode that I had been missing the occasional exchanges which underscored their friendship. This is one of two shows I watch during the season, and I'm certainly looking forward to the coming weeks.
Rene Balcer made CI a great show, but Mr Leight, you have ruined it. The season premiere was awful and nothing like CI of the past. One of the trademarks of the Law & Order franchise is that we don't get to see the characters' personal lives. If I wanted that, I'd go watch a soap opera. I don't give a rat's ass about what the characters do after work. I just want to see them solve crimes.
Chris Noth can act RINGS around all of them.....and if it wasn't for him and Jerry Orbach in the early days of L&O, there would be no Goren & Eames.

I love every L&O. I have to admit that I am slightly disappointed when the episode features the second team. Bravo to Donofrio & Erbe - they are a tough act to follow. I have always been a Noth fan since the early days, but his character makes me think of L&O episodes, not CI. When I watch CI I am looking for extraordinary profiling. I’m not feeling that intensity from Noth’s character. I confess. I’m a little relieved that I won’t have to listen to Sciorra mumble through another season.
If I can't have Bobbie, I want Alex to have him!!
A closer and more caring friendship between Eames and Goren would be good, but actual romance would be bad for the storyline. The crime solving is the focus. Besides, it would be totally inconsistent with the back story, as it has been developed. They both have very different tastes and interests. Their friendship is based on mutual respect and professionalism. Don’t spoil a good thing! Remember what happened to “Moonlighting” after Maddie and David did it!
Everyone seems very worried about this closeness business...I'm really not worried either way how it works out, because the writers handle any situation very nicely and base it in reality. So whatever does come of their relationship, I'm sure it won't be overly dramatic. And I believe including personal things is the right thing to do. We've been with these characters so long now, it's time to find out more about them (including their important reliance on each other). Great episode! I hope to see more like it.

They're not gonna burn if they "touch" each other, like in a hug or a little something like friends do. It would really be great to see that. As for the romance, well I'm a big Goren/Eames shipper fan but I think that for now I'd prefer to see a real development of their friendship, that could LATER lead to something more...

This is my favorite L&O. Its smart. I actually begin thinking in the way of Goren throughout the show and then when he puts it together and breaks the suspect, I'm captivated everytime. I'm never disappointed and I just love D'Nofrio's character. The writers deserve a raise...A huge raise.
Loved the 9/19/06 season premiere because Goren was shown doing what he does best and the feelings he exhibited about his partner were so real because when people work as close as partners do for a long while, the friendship becomes real and the caring about each other grows. Thanks for the quirkiness of tonights episode and thanks for sparing Eames. She is his yang. I loved that I was able to follow the events and figure out the ending just before it was revealed (amateur sleuth). Thanks so much for the story tonight. Keep thrilling us and entertaining. I want to see Goren happy. Did he gain weight over the hiatus?
I was disappointed when first the new characters Chris Noth and Annabella S. were introduced.
I am a great fan of Goren & Eames with his brilliant, neurotic intellect and her practical and cynical
approach.
However with viewing this past season, I note that the new characters are very rich and multi-faceted.
Noth is the ultimate professional hunter/ detective and will do whatever he must to get his man...
or woman. He has flaws, but also great strengths. Sciarra (?sp) surprises me each episode with
her encyclopedic and varied knowledge, and professionalism (yet as a dissillusioned former FBI agent).
She's a great actor, and I think these characters add a lot to the series.
Also it's not so bad if viewers are hungry for more Goren & Eames...keeps us wanting more.

its a tricky tightrope to walk. Keep a nice light tough. Him sitting by her bedside at the end was just enough... all the little things that Kathryn and Vincent infuse into the characters is so good, but giving them a bit more to play with would be great -- for them too I would imagine.
If the new capn continues to be prickly, it gives them even more to work with between themselves... but I'm sure I'm not saying anything you guys don't know.
Great work on this premiere. I was looking forward to it so much, and while it was a tad lumpy with the characters arcs, they are working through the new dynamics, so go guys go!!
Season 6 will be such fun to watch
lol I'm pretty sure you are all aware of what this epi and blog will now do for the fanfic community....another by-product to really look forward to...because there is c l o s e and then there is close......and a lot of fans are voting for the latter. I think it is already understood that they are very close but it will be nice to SEE.

Get them as close as you want. I love those two, and I want less cold & detached, and more "hey, we're best friends, let's act it".
I don't think it could become a soap. :) No matter what happened. However, the romance IS better left to fanfiction. Those authors seem to write it better into Law & Order, anyways. Hehe...love.
Please everyone stop asking to get rid of Noth and Nicholson, if they go D'Onofrio and Erbe are done. It was D'onofrio and Erbe who needed the break, it allows them to spend some time with their young families, it was not the producers need to bring another team in for rAtings. Why don't you all get that already. We've been discussing this since the end of season 4, when it was announced that Noth and Sciorra were joining.
it's getting clearer that Eames is Goren's touchstone with "the real world" -- he lives inside his own head, she's the one he relies on for the "common sense" part of what's going on around him -- and she does it for him so gracefully - she knows that as much skill as he has, she has things that he doesn't and that are needed for his observations to be complete -- it's a good combination
Their friendship, loyalty and caring definitely showed in tonight's episode. It will be interesting to see the more personal side to their relationship, without an actual "romance."
Now that we've seen Eames' home, do we get to see Goren's?
