Hay guys. Love the season finale. I think a great artist that you guys should introduce is Rihanna. After watching her latest music video for Disturbia it left me thinking on how well she could play a killer in the show. Its really just a thought. The music video is worth putting her on because in the video she is a little disturbed with lots of torture techniques and other crazy things that will leave you with eyes wide open. So you no you should check it out because i think it would be a great idea.

Feb. 6th episode on NBC with Det. Goren going into prison and challenging his sanity for his nephew was the most in-depth, sould-digging performance I've seen on television in years, if ever. I HOPE THE ACADEMY RECOGNIZES THIS particular episode. Proves once again the strength and quality of Vincent D'Onofrio's talent. He's mesmerizing.

I started watching it two years ago and I never thought I would like a detective show.
I love this show.
Why?
It's always entertaining.
I never know anything very personal about the two main characters, but I don't want to; their role as experienced detectives is all we see (and I get the feeling that's what was intended).
This is probably not the place to post a fan comment but I'll end it quick...

D'Nofrio is such a great actor (is he "acting") - the best of all the L&O charactors and probably my favorite actor on TV- I truly hope his health has improved!

I've heard rumors that L&O:CI may not come back next year. I hope this isn't the case. I love the show and especially happy that Chris Noth is back. Vincent is wonderful. I can only pray that CI will return with all the characters. Everyone of them are fantastic actors and make it a show well worth the watching!

The new cast members are awful. I change the channel every time I see them. This isn't "resistance to change," just bad acting and bad writing.

As an ardent fan of Criminal Intent, I've enjoyed reading through the blog entries here, and wanted to add my 2 cents. I've learned that people resist change, no matter what, and I think that's a lot of what we can see with complaints about the new actors, new format, etc. Over time, some things will be accepted and become comfortable in their familiarity (such as the increasingly fun chemistry between Logan and his new partner), while others may go by the wayside (hopefully the wild camera work will fall into this category!).
In my opinion, we need to give everything and everyone a chance to settle in -- for those who don't know, a format of only Goren & Eames is impossible, and 3 & 1/2 years of doing the show themselves put Vincent in the hospital with Kathryn not far behind. Happily the shared duties have made it possible for the show to go on, and it seems to me that the fresh ideas and slightly new focus so far this year have brought a brightness and energy to the show that we hadn't seen in a while. So, please give it time -- maybe we can get the "ching-chings" and titles back, and give everything else a chance to meld together.
Eric Bogosian so far, is not a great addition. Jamey Sheridan added a comfort factor. I also liked Courtney B Vance. Why are these guys gone?
CI used to be my least favorite L&O, I never watched it. But I love Chris Noth, so now I watch it. I miss Annabelle but think I'll be ok w/the new girl. Bring back the -cha-chings- please.

I do not like the new capt. on L&O:CI. No offense, but he just doesn't seem to fit. In fact, he's downright annoying to the point that last week, I muted the TV everytime he spoke. He is reason Nos. 1, 2 and 3 why I've decided to stop watching the show, which, until this season was my second favorite on TV [behind SVU].
I don't know what the heck is going on that the powers-that-be decided to change so many things about the show, but you've just lost a long time fan because of it. I have watched the show since episode 1, but I cannot watch it any more.
The show is different in almost every aspect that I liked and one of my fave characters -- Courtney B. Vance's -- is gone.
Not good NBC, not good at all. Guess I'll have to stick with watching re-runs on BRAVO and USA.

In the Law & Order universe the people are represented by only one group – its fans. I’ve been an avid viewer over the years, and I want to thank you both for the work you’ve done to create such wonderful a wonderful franchise.
I was impressed to read the messages you each left on the Producers Blog at nbc.com. It’s a treat to be able to read your comments and a great opportunity for us fans to provide feedback.
I am writing you to express my thoughts about what has been my favorite member of the Law & Order family, Criminal Intent.
First, I am not at all unhappy with the new characters on the show. While I was sorry to learn that Jamey Sheridan, Courtney B. Vance, and Annabelle Sciorra were leaving the show, I trusted that the Criminal Intent framework was strong enough to survive. Certainly I thought the introduction of new personalities played by talented actors would be enough to freshen and reinvigorate the series.
It was from that perspective that I truly looked forward to the new season. However, after watching the first two episodes aired this season, I am wondering what happened to the series I enjoyed so much. I never expected Criminal Intent’s rules and framework to be so radically altered. Not only were there changes in the show’s focus, direction and composition, but also there were alterations to the personalities of its returning characters. I could have more easily accepted the changes if I thought they make for a better show.
Perhaps the problem lies with me. I saw no need to re-invent Criminal Intent. I loved that it was different than so many other police procedurals. I loved that it focused on the crime and the story of solving that crime. I loved that it was written and tightly edited to eliminate any component that did not drive the plot forward. I loved its subtleties, especially that characters’ backgrounds and personalities were revealed slowly over time and only within the context of solving the crime. I loved its cerebral nature. I loved how it avoided melodrama and police action show clichés. I loved how it explored the moral dilemmas and human tragedies underlying crimes. And I loved how the writers wrote such wonderful scripts which the actors performed so brilliantly each week.
I do not know why the Criminal Intent team thought fans of the show wanted it to change as much as it has. The camera work and music are a distraction rather than a support to the story-telling. The explicit revelation of characters’ backgrounds detectives goes against past precedent set by the series. Devoting more time to exposing the personal lives of the characters in the show detracts from its primary focus on the criminal investigation. The use of scenes more suited to action thrillers than police procedurals is jarring and would not have appeared so prominently in past seasons.
As for returning characters, why are their personalities being altered? I’ve always seen him as an idealized character, and so I found it somewhat unbelievable and unsettling that Det. Goren, a man with years of military and police training and experience, would, in the season premiere, be faltering in his skills and intellect. Det. Goren has his own personal tragedies to endure, but they have made him strong and given him his keen insight into human nature and human failings. Those like me who love the character don’t want to see him turned into someone less capable and more vulnerable.
And where are the date and place titles and the beloved “ching-chings?” They should not have been eliminated. Not only do they brand the show as part of the Law and Order universe, they help convey a sense of time and place as the viewer is propelled forward through an investigation.
Please do not turn Criminal Intent into an amalgam of CSI, NYPD Blue, and or even Law & Order: SVU, which is very good but the most melodramatic of the franchise. There are plenty of shows like that for viewers to turn to should that be their preference. Criminal Intent has always offered something different, and in my opinion, something of superior quality. There have been some stunning episodes from the Criminal Intent of seasons past: Magnificat, Monster, Anti-Thesis, Zoonotic/APerson of Interest, Shibboleth, Con-Text, A Murderer Among Us, See Me, Semi-Detached, and The Saint, to name but a few. With the changes that have been made and the notes I have read on the Producers Blog, I’m concerned about the quality and focus of future episodes.
I’m but one fan asking you to please rethink what is happening. I’ve seen what excellent television the Law & Order teams are capable of creating. The confession scene with Vincent D’Onofrio and Martha Plimpton tells me the heart of Criminal Intent still beats somewhere buried among all the changes. My sole wish is that future episodes of Criminal Intent stay closer to the spirit of seasons past and continue to strive to achieve the highest standards of quality drama.

OK - I've been out of the country and I don't read blogs very often. Now I'm back and trying to catch up. What I notice on this board though is some negative comments about Chris Noth. So I have to put in my two cents... KEEP HIM!!! Chris Noth IS New York. He really is. I've seen him on the streets a few times looking like he just woke up from a long night out AND that's perfect. He is, in my opinion, one of the strongest links in the what has become the great L&O chain.
What happened to Annabella Sciora-truly the only actor worth watching on CI. You don't know how many times I was disappointed hoping for Annabella and instead getting that other boring team. I even put up with Mr. Big just to watch her. No more CI for me!
Starsky? Tom Jones? New Captain absolutely SUCKS. What is up with the casting? No more psychological chess matches? Noth was, well, just ok, but this guy RUINS the show.

L & O CI is my favorite show on TV by far, and Vincent my favorite actor. He & Kathryn Erbe were both excellent in the premiere. However I am concerned about the direction the show may be taking with the serial-crime/Eames-in-peril plot. It departs too much from the psychological investigations that made the show so great under Rene Balcer. I hope you will be able to regain some of the quality of shows like No Exit (which I have watched endlessly in repeats), The Posthumous Collection, Vacancy and In the Wee Small Hours.
Also, speaking of that last show, will we see another with all four detectives again? I was hoping for that last spring, could it happen this year? Finally I *really* miss Courtney Vance...please bring him back as a guest - *soon*!

I only watch the programme when Vince and Katherine are on as they are my favourites my teenage boys are hooked too all agree Vince's character is weird but brilliant and knows way too much information ! he seems to know everything which we love.Its SO NICE to see Goren'd smile and humour more please its shows a different side of him.We are behind with episodes in England and the pc game has so many glitches had to return it .... need a ps2 version.....give them a nudge.. fantastic show never miss it ever..unless of course its not Goren and ames

Way to go!!! Law & Order: Criminal Intent is my FAVORITE SHOW! I LOVE GOREN AND EAMES the best! Blind Spot is one of my favorite episodes. I loved it when Goren showed emotion, and was distressed at Eames' kidnapping. The acting deserves an Emmy nomination! I was screaming at the TV!!! LOVED the episode! Thank you soooooo much for keeping Law & Order: Criminal Intent on the air!! I LOVE THE SHOW! It is my dream come true to eventually be on the show!!! (Even just as an extra.) Criminal Intent was the first and only show on TV that hooked me from day one because of the brilliant and creative acting of Vince D'Onofrio. Love the storylines---especially this season's opener. Was on the edge of my seat! INCREDIBLE! You really took this show to the next level. Thanks for bringing such quality work. I, like most of the others, want only Goren and Eames. Find Logan and partner very low key and don't deliver like Vince and Katie. Enjoyed the new captain and what his character brought to the show. Thank you for the best show on television.
I agree with most of the comments. I really enjoyed the first 4 seasons. Eames and Goren are great. The other two need to live. I don't watch the show if Eames and Goren aren't being shown. They have potential to receive an emmy nomination like SVU, but so many changes through everything off. ADA Carver and Sheridan really need to come back; otherwise many fans will be turning from this to watch Dancing with Stars or the Unit.
Granted, in the season opener, there was no time in the storyline for interaction with ADA Carver (or some replacement for him, if Vance wanted out), but that interaction added a lot to the overall feel of the show and will be sorely missed. As is Jamie Sheridan as Deakins. This new captain did not come off well in his opening episode. He is portrayed as cold, calculating and a control freak. If the trend to constrain and constrict Goren’s character (which drives the episodes he is in) continues, in order to make the captain’s role larger, it will be to the detriment of the show. The storyline for the crime was excellent. Glover was a terrific choice for the guest star role, and D’Onofrio was brilliant (even though stifled), as was Erbe, but the new captain leaves a lot to be desired!
AMAZING EPISODE, first and foremost.
Not sure I agree with the new format, meaning the addition of special effects. I always liked law and order for staying fairly bare bones as far as modern television goes. Still it was interesting, and did add something to the show (like it or not). I agree with what someone said earlier on this page about him seeming somewhat off in his character in the episode.
Though I felt him come alive during those scenes where he battled with his own judgement as he considered the possibility that his own mentor might be the white whale.
Hopefully we'll get more actual sebastien killings, or actually find out what happened to/catch this guy later.
Also really enjoyed the character development/background as far as Goren goes.
Getting Eames involved in what happened was really great, and again, great to see Goren get fired up. He's at his best when the fiery emotions prevail, but you can have too much of a good thing, and the writers seem to know this.
As far as the new captain goes, sure he's no Sheridan.
But I like him as something of an antagonist and a welcome change to the office politics.
Maybe that was why we didn't see Carver, because we had one antagonist too many already.
Also they were gathering evidence the whole show trying to simply find out who it was, let alone catch the person.
Do we really need him saying "physical evidence bla bla bla" every show?
Great actor and all, but his role in the show is quite limited.
All in all, I don't want to get used to the production changes. Skip the special effects, give us the substance we already had.
I could get used to the new guy, as long as I'm not supposed to like him. And I'm guessing that is the idea.
Keep up the great work, and talk to Vincent about doing some small stuff in the episodes in which he doesn't star. It'll keep ratings up, and give us fans what we want. GOREN AND EAMES!!
i loved the opening last night, but i didn't like the new captain and what happened to the DA. i also do not like the other people that took over, why can it be like before only bobby and alex?
1. The opening scenes? Has CI lost its mind? I had to check twice to make sure I wasn't inadvertently tuned in to CSI! Knock it off!
2. That new captain? Yuck. A most unsympathetic character and a bad fit for the show. Plus, the actor who portrays this dolt carries too much baggage playing the same kind of curly-headed nincompoop.
3. What's wrong with D'Onfrio? He looked way off his game in this season opener, and his Goren was some kind of weak-kneed ninny. Very un-Goren.
All in all, I had to force myself to stay with this episode. I hope last night's program was just an ill-conceived experiment and not a harbinger of the rest of the season.

awesome! Goren and Eames. Great show.I liked the new captain. He gives the show more edge.I like how he interacts with Goren.
take a moment of silence to mourn what was once a good TV show. Because I am watching the season premiere as I type and am fairly horrified.
For one thing, their is clearly a new director in the works. The music is over the top and distracting. The camera work look like that of a horror movie. The characterization and pacing is horribly off.
The characterization is off, and the writing is obvious and bad.
but I want to find the person who did the sound effects for this and make them write the definition for subtlety 1000 times.
Seriously, someone needs to be punished for killing my favorite television show.
And the music was just so Bad!
WONDERFUL PREMIERE! it was great. I loved it! I loved the directing and the music.
Two questions: where was Theresa Randle? and also where did the title cards go?
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, get rid of the background music. It's sooooooooo [b]distracting and unnecessary[/b]. Plus it's corny as hell.
Tonight's L&O CI seemed like a whole different show that just happened to have Eames and Goren in it. I've watched this show since day one, but if future Criminal Intent episodes are going to be like tonight's, I'm outtie.
How disappointing.
"Law & Order: Trial by Jury" is the only one of the series I didn't like. I'd hate to add Criminal Intent to the list.

First I love the show otherwise why would I be here. I watch them all but this my favorite show on the air. I do miss the Captain. However, if it was Jamey Sheridian's decision to leave so be it. I'm sure we'll get used to the new guy. However, WHERE IS ADA Carver? If he chose to leave the show too, that's fine, but HELLO! Can we talk about it, and REPLACE him PLEASE this is LAW & ORDER NOT JUST LAW!!!! Come on!!!
Also, Goren was excellent in this episode and showed a range of emotions. However, I knew it was the daughter 1/2 way through. But the ending was excellent anyway. NEED AN ADA PLEASE!!!!
I don't know why Jamey Sheridan (captain) is no longer on the show. Can't really figure out what the reason was for the blackballing of him and why he had to leave I think that story should have been better developed. I really liked him and am disappointed not to be watching him any more. It's hard to get used to a new person playing a role that you already thought was played well. Though I will put forth my best effort, and still watch the show, I don't care for the new police chief. Also, I do like Chris Noth and his partner and don't wish to see anyone else changed from the show! Thanks for the opportunity to chat. Wish you'd do this more often.

Unfortunately, I disagree with the last blogger. I did not like the premiere at all. Like most of the other bloggers, I didn’t care for the new captain, but I’m sure that’s just because I’m comparing him to Jamey Sheridan’s character (whom we know stepped down because of scandal in last year’s finale). But we should get used to the new captain, and that’s not the real problem.
The real problem is that the style was COMPLETELY different from what we’ve come to love through the show’s first five seasons. The pace was awkward - scenes cut from one to another too quickly. There was no dramatic tension built up when Goren would realize something and go with it. The music was overdone, and the lines were cheesy.
But most importantly, it sorely lacked the component of the show involving ADA Carver. You cannot have a LAW & Order show without that. The scene with Eames struggling to find a way out of the “dungeon” would be great for serial killer movie, but not for this show. This episode lacked everything that makes Criminal Intent great. If this is what can be expected for the rest of the season, sadly, it will no longer be one of my must-watch shows of the week.
I thought tonight's episode was a really interesting departure from the arcane plots of previous years. Liked the stylization and action- finally we're not so bogged down with incomprehensible plot twists and red herrings that you can really sense the characters (the chemistry between Goren adn Eames) and father/daughter (very touching).
I also liked the tension with the new captain- think an interesting realtionship will develop there.
This year should be really fun to watch.

I'm a little dissapointed and confused as to why I saw two diffrent charecters on the commercial for the new upcoming episode. Personally, Goren is the reason I watch CI, and Ive heard that from MANY people. I really hope the show doesnt change.

It'll take some time to adjust to the new captain. I don't have an instant sense of "this guy'll be a cool addition". Frankly, the first episode leaves me underwhelmed. I never wanted to watch any of the Law and Order shows, but CI was on before WWE and i watched it once and i was hooked. I have tried the others and i just cant get into them, but i love Goran, and his partner. They have good chemistry and the stories are interesting. Great job

Interesting changes -- some refreshing was needed. Glad to see Goren back with passion; he seemed half asleep last season. But isn't it a bit soapy for CI? Also, I'd rather see fewer total epis but with only Goren and Eames vs a full slate with half Noth & Co.

Warren, the new Captain? nothing like a real CID supervisor! The detectives would be allowed to do their job, not be hounded be a super who probably has less total experience than you two detectives. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Keep Goren and Eves only on C.I. The other two actors don't bring it home the store like tonight's cast does. They have chemistry that works. They complement each other. Any other combo on this show does not work.!!! Especially Vincent knows how to keep you wanting more cause you know he can get in the head of the criminals by thinking like them. Vincent makes it work. The new Captin is a great actor and all but he doesn't mesh well with this crew. Loose him or move him to another Law and Order.

L&O CI is my favorite of all L&O's. Donofrio and Erbe have great edge, brilliant acting, and real smarts. Noth is ok but ho-hum compared to Donofrio. He's intense, seething like Pacino only quiet. Erbe is his match. You can't leave Bogosian character such a jerk. People won't watch. Give him facets. Not such a tall order for terrific writers. Loved this first episode.

I love Law and Order Criminal Intent best of all the Law and Order shows. I think Goren and Emes are fantastic together. Even though the changes will be a lttle tough at first I am sure that CI will remain my very favorite show. No one is better at being a detective than Vincent D'Onofrio. Katherine Erbes and He are great together. Please don't believe the hype from some people that say that SVU outshines Criminal Intent. It does not. They are two different shows with two different agenda's. Keep On Going Great Job Law and Order: CI WE ALL Love YOU!!

We all know Eames had a baby. So why does she come home to an empty apartment and get kidnapped? Where is the baby? Where is the Father (Husband?). All through her kidnapping and later hospitalization, we never see a family member, no one has notified one, nor is she reunited with one. I love this show, but let's have some continuity about their lives. CI does a great job keeping us up to date on Goren's past, but there is Zilch about Eames. NBC, if you read this, why not favor us with a reply? Thanks from Vermont.

I started to watch Law and Order: Criminal Intent last year and was very impress with the role that vincent D'Onofrio, plays, it almost seems that he would at any moment be a crimial himself, but on the Premiere show tonight i was disapointed on the taimness in which the he potrayed the man i that has kept me on the edge of my seat. please don't change him into some nice guy let him be the obsess mad man i have come to love. This show is written for Vincent; there is a totally different vibe in the show with Noth. Keep Vincent on, he rocks!!! Hope he is feeling better this year and you don't need to sub in Noth. Loved Noth on Sex & City, but I feel so let down to flip on CI and find him on Vincent's show!

L&O CI is the best show on TV. I TIVO all channels that run the earlier episodes and watch every day. This new one was intense; great to have Vincent back in action! He is the best detective on TV. Eames has all the best lines, too, they are a great duo. As I understand it, Vincent had health problems last year and so they had to add another set of detectives to alternate so he would not have such a heavy schedule. Hope he is better this year. Can't understand why this show gets no Emmy nods?!? I would give it to the entire cast and show.

For those who dislike the new Captain, that was my impression at first. However, I think the writers want to introduce the character to the audience, so they gave him an almost adversarial role to get the audience's attention. Hopefully the new Captain now sees the true merit of Goren on his team and will gradually warm up to his staff with each upcoming episode. Jamey Sheridan was always laid back, so it's hard to get used to a polar opposite. Let's hope the writers have taken that into consideration and have made the new episodes more "CI fan-friendly."

I still watch that one out of habit, but CI now that is the only original show on TV today. The writing , Donofrio .. you just cannot get better than this show for television. Why did you start using another pair on the show? I never could understand that. You had Steak, then you went for hamburger. From first class to coach.. well you get the picture, all of us die hard fans feel the same way. We just don't understand why, you fooled with a good thing.

Spectacular show tonight. Great to see that DOnofrio looks healthy and intense again. Now that hes well (looked ill the last two seasons) can we get Bobby Goren back full time? Also, A.D.A. Vance brought stability and balance by pressing for evidence and motive. Please dont lose that counterweight. Its a hallmark of L&O. Love Begosian & I understand his self-protective motives for being hard on the team. Sheridan was too dry and disinterested. Tell the suits to drop the ridiculous/insulting Studio 60 & program more intense dramas like tonight. Thx for your dedication to high-quality TV.

CI is my favorite of all the L&O shows. With that said:
I was VERY unhappy with Jamey Sheridan leaving at the end of last season. I thought Deakins gave up too easily and should have fought harder for his job. Therefore, I knew getting used to the new Captain was going to be tough but I decided to keep an open mind. So far, I'm NOT impressed. Deakins isn't dead, he just resigned so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that CI finds a way to bring him back and not let him go this time.
As for the Logan/Goren episodes debate - I loyally watch the Goren & Eames episodes and only half watch the Logan episodes. The Logan episodes feel too much like the orignal L&O and not enough like CI. Instead of alternating weeks with the four detectives, why not do a team format similar to SVU?
And lastly, WHERE is Carver???
My concern - a new Captain, a new day for the show, no ADA or DA, and a new partner for Logan. I think there is waaaaaay too many changes all at once. I'm hoping CI can withstand the changes but it may be a long season until we know for sure if they work.

Noth was brough in last year to help with Vince D'Onofrio's health. He was ready to quit the show because it was taking a physical and mental toll on him. News clips told of his being taken to the hospital on several occasions during takes of his passionate tirades at the conclusion of the show where he wore down the mental defenses of the real perps.
So they started alternating Noth and D'Onofrio every other week. Luckily, it preserved Vince's contract and gave him a needed rest. And it surely pointed out his popularity with the viewers. Wow! What a great outpouring on this commentary post on that point alone!
I love the guy. His passion is unsurpassed by anyone on TV. If Vince needs the rest, I wish Noth would only show up every 4th episode or so. Frankly I am glad they got rid of Anabel Scorcese...she was like a lump of coal with no expression and of little unique persona to her character. She was better on the Sopranos. Noth at least has emotion, but never will be close to Vince's.
Keep up the good scripts for Vince, writers! Heck, even if the script is bad, he will transcend it and give the audience more than its money's worth. He deserves an Emmy every year for his acting and pure passion.

I didn't like the new captain either and miss Courntey Vance as well. I am just glad that my favorite two are still on: Vincent and Kathryn but I wish the others were back on. I agree that these are way too many changes. I get hooked on characters and these certain actors that I get used to and I don't like it when they change them. Certain actors just give each show that special quality.

In the previews for next weeks episode i noticed that Goren and Eams are not there, why is that? Are they gone for good? I just dont think that it wont be Law and Order: CI without them.

I think that Law and Order SVU is the best of the Law and Order series. I'm very pissed off that you have Benson going undercover for the FBI I think that Benson and Stabler need to get together already. The writing of this show is amazing, and I wish that you would write for Stabler and Benson to be together already.. Keep the show going as it is and it will be a hit, even thought it is already. i felt a lettle let down to night by role that Vincent D'Onofrio plays. the reason that i start watching Criminal Intent is because i felt that at any moment he could turn around and be the mad killer. please don't change him into a nice guy that follow the rule. I
like his msdness its part of the reason why i watch.
Noth is not the right switch for vincent. Noth is boring and the shows he's in are boring

Would you please consider lowing the background music so that it really is background music? I missed major amounts of dialogue because the music was way to high.
