I thank everyone who has logged on. It has been as much fun for me as it has been for you.

It is really fascinating. I don't get the chance to ever do this. It's like when you go to Russian tour of the Bolshoi, at the end they come out and applaud the audience, that's kind of the way I feel. YOU are the people who've kept the show on for 16 years. As many of you know, my fondest hope is that we are going to be on for at least another four seasons so we can beat Gunsmoke and become the longest-running drama in the histroy of television.

The tendency to use a show's popularity as a bully pulpit for a liberal agenda and begin "preaching" has killed many shows for me.

Thankfully, Law & Order is still fairly balanced in this regard, which is why I still watch it when I've turned off many other shows.

I never was really interested in Gunsmoke, but I am a loyal L&O viewer.

I have been watching Law & Order since 1992. For many years, it was the only TV show I watched (I mainly watch movies and a little bit of sports). This season (2008-2009), the show has changed significantly and, unfortunately, that change has been for the worse. Gone are the political issue that I so admired the show for taking on. And mostly gone are the legal issues that I enjoyed watching being debated. But worst of all, instead of going after the rich and the elite among us and showing that the law should be applied to everyone, Law & Order has descended into just another cop show, promoting a right wing law and order mentality.

Nothing lasts forever and I am very thankful to Dick Wolf and everyone involved for creating such a good show and maintaining it for so long. But all the things I really liked about the show are now gone and I’m sad to say I will no longer be watching.

I am a long time fan of L&O...even really early seasons. I must say I was not thrilled with last season and was ready to give up L&O when Briscoe left, but this season ROCKS! The writing is great and brings back the gritty crime stories. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the new male ADA. He is such a great character!

Keep it up! Love the new cops and lawyers!

Please give Sam Waterston more on screen time. Since his promotion, we see don't see enough of him. Long time L&O fans enjoy seeing a character that truly has integrity; he’s good guy, which is something unheard these days.

I was wondering if you were a big fan of The Wire? It seems that a lot of "Wire" stars make it onto the Law and Orders as guest stars. Also, this might seem a little odd but, I've always wanted to play a body on Law and Order. That would be the coup de gras!!! Good Luck beating Gunsmoke. I know you'll do it. The show stays fresh.

I LOVE LAW & ORDER. This new season is doing it's "thang". I am one of this shows biggest fans that I know of. I've been watching from the begining and I'm only 24 lol. Seriously I watch all the versions faithfully on NBC, TNT, USA, CW and Bravo. I even watch the short lived version "Crime and Punishment" and loved that too. So, hats off to you Mr. Dick Wolf, I hope Law & Order, SVU and CI stay on for as long as there's a headline to use!!! Hey I even know all the opening music by heart and there aren't even any words ;-)

Great new show. Cast is terrific and adds tension. New DA reminds me of a young Richard Widmark. Writing is really really good and even the look has altered. Love it.

Hello Mr. Wolf, I have been a Law and Order fan from day one, and I have a question thats been puzzeling me for a while. Why is S. Emptha Merkerson character is still a "Luetenant" while on the other L and O shows the ranking men are Captains????

Ah yes, the female DA who loves to bring out the fact that she is of hispanic decent just loves to down white people in EACH and EVERY show. She's about the most racist person I've ever seen on the show. Way to go Law and Order. The hispanic version of the KKK!

Thank God Liz Roehm is gone from the show. She was nothing more than a left wing, card carrying NOW member and made it so obvious her very liberal ideas. It was sickening and it got old, REAL quick. Another thing that is getting old is this new woman who took her place.

Just wanted to say that my husband and I are not thrilled with the new ADA. Hopefully he'll grow on us, but after 3 episodes so far it hasn't happened.

Oh.. we'll stayed tuned. That's incontrovertible. Our whole family loves Law and Order. It is becoming a tradition to watch re-runs on USA and TNT. The show truly is a masterpiece, mainly because it makes legal concepts accessible to the common person. I can't thank you enough for your creative genius. "Thanks" is really insufficient for the many occasions in which you have provided priceless entertainment. I'm glad that "the show will go on" and hopefully strong at that.

We watch the show constantly on NBC and TNT. I am a bit put off by the seeming constant get-rid-of the female characters. I was not happy to see Annie Parisse leave, nor Liz Roehm. I liked both of them in their roles- You did a good job though adding Garza.

I also liked Milena Govich as Detective- the cops can't be all testosterone.

I hate that because i want kathy and elient to be back tohger because i want their replpes. I want your poiner get married to me becuese i want spend time with elient's poiner thank you for not get dicecse with elient.

I am so glad that Thompson is gone. For the past 7 years the Bush spin machine has ruined our Country. Thompson played right into it. The fear tactics are finally coming to an end. Even today we learn the lie's that Bush put out about Iran's Nuclear threat was false proven by the NEA. Law and Order has always reflected the Country. Sam as the DA. is Fantastic. Bring back Logan full time on CI and that would be Great.

I could not be happier, Law and Order, CI, and SVU are the only things on television I watched. I'd be losst without it.

Not only was this episode blatant with it’s left wing propaganda lecture it was poorly acted, poorly written and embarrassing to watch as much as it infuriated me.
Perhaps the actors didn’t realize how bad it was because they were SO into its “message”

Watch the show again (soon to be on TNT!) and you can see the actors just itching to deliver their “profound” lines with such dramatic emphasis! Especially Richard Belzer chomping at the bit, to spew his few preachy words… talk about over acting!-- all making their political statements through their characters.
By the way, does Richard Belzer have a clause in his contract that the few lines he says per episode has to reflect his political leanings? Hem…

After I got over being angry at what I was watching I actually started to laugh.
Especially at the documentary style “interviews” depicting the especially innocent looking characters, speaking in their own languages with subtitles and telling about what they endured. The frumpy looking man, the African women in her native dress etc. Yes, these people are just the typical type of suspects we drag in to torture for their valuable information. I can’t believe that even Dick Wolf didn’t cringe with embarrassment when he viewed this scene.

“Law and order” is just one show inserting it’s left wing message- just watch anything produced by Jerry Bruckheimer or even a show like “lost” where Sayid, the former Iraqi republican guard character, learned his knowledge of torture, not from Iraqis like Sadam and his psycho sons, who raised it to an art form- but from Americans!

If you want to know why Campaign Finance reform will never occur it’s because no one can regulate Hollywood’s blatant and more dangerous subtle messages. Not to mention the slanted news media. How much is all of this worth to the DNC in campaign dollars?

I wonder if the three American soldiers that were captured about a year or so ago and were subsequently found beaten, tortured to death burned and beheaded would have traded their fate for being interviewed as supposed “torture light” victims as depicted in this episode of “law and order”

Which is the reflection where the country has moved off of ditch conservative right or even old liberal to new social liberal position and a progressive economic as well as progressive foregin policy that leans more left then right but still tough with global view of being the white hats but knows how to wear the black hat of hangem high against bad dudes. So far no new episodes of Law and Order have been broadcast - the time slot on Fridays has been vacated for Las Vegas. When and where will the new episodes been broadcast? I have watched L&O since the beginning and I watch reruns every day but the new episodes are always the best. I miss them very much.

I was wondering how to become an extra on Law and Order. I have been watching Law and Order for about 10 years. It was like a religion for my dad and I. We would always watch it together on Thursday nights. Then when I left home we would talk about the show that night or the next day. I watch reruns on TNT as well. Two years ago when I was in New York, I stumbled across Law and Order SVU being taped. I was so excited to see it, but was wishing I could be a person that walks across the courthouse steps. Hi Dick, I watched you interviewed on a cable network. You said your dream is to go 20 seasons & beat Gunsmoke. Even if you did go 20 you wouldn't beat it b/c you would have much fewer episodes than Gunsmoke did. In those days as I'm sure you know they aired more shows per season than now. But anyway, I always watch your shows, all of them & luv them so much better than the CSI shows. I was glad to see that CI was transfered to USA & not canceled as I feared. Hi, today is Friday, August 31st 2007, and I went to SoHo Billiards today expecting to play a game of pool, but a scene of Law & Order was being shot there. The crew repeated to pause and start their shooting, making everyone playing pool need to pause every five minutes for about ten minutes. Two suggestions for the show: first, bring back former cast members for guest spots more often (in particular, think about using a former prosecutor as a judge now and then); second, run contests to allow fans of the show to appear on screen as jurors.

Awww I didnt realize Dennis had left the show when I previously posted. I am in the middle of watching "The Family Hour" and realized Dennis was gone...

I am a Law and Order addict!! I'm disappointed that the original and Criminal Intent are not coming back until midseason!!! Why is NBC doing that?? Criminal Intent is such a different type of show--and, nothing beats the original Law and Order!! I'm glad SVU is going to come back at the beginning of the season though.

Can we keep the sopranos actors away from the show? I like the guy who replaced Jerry Orbach.. He is cool. But please nobody else that is italian. Keep Jesse Martin!

I really like the show a LOT. Even since I got a DVR I find plenty of time to watch. I have only been watching for 2 years and its my favorite. Please dont stop making it. I'LL WATCH I PROMISE!!!! I hate all other tv shows except 24 and last season was more of a soap. =) haha

I have been a loyal L&O fan for years and love watching the re-runs on TNT. Unfortunately, this year has been horrible. Please, please get rid of Detective Beauty Queen! She is so bad and has been since her first show. Detective Green is awesome. Perhaps you can team him up with the detective that filled in on SVU when Olivia was out on maternity leave. Whoever you choose will be better than Det. Beauty Queen. You'll never make it to 20 with her around.

I like Law and Order,but there are three flaws. One is the partnership with Det. Green. Replace the female detective. There is no chemistry. Go back to Wed.,and go back to original storylines, instead of"always ripped from the headlines."

I am very sorry to see Dennis go, I thought he did a fine job replacing a great originator of the role he stepped into.

I am very disappointed with your choice of his replacement. There is no substance in the new character and I now find the set up of the police end unrealistic.

As far as I'm concerned Law & Order can't go away fast enough now, I've still got the re-runs.

I love the show, have been a fan ever since the beginning - however would love to see another lead det to work with Green. Maybe get Richard Roundtree or one of the classic 60's & 70's detectives to come on. I think that would pop the ratings up & increase your demographics.

You need to bring in a new, and clearly recognizeable face to Law and Order. When you brought in Lenny Briscoe, that helped save the show. When you brought in Dennis Farina, that added a humorous and classic touch. Unfortunately, your detective Cassidy is a big "blah". She doesn't add anything, and doesn't have the capacity to bring in the Big Line that people (at least like me) loved to tune in and watch. The older shows on TNT are more interesting. The remaining cast are good, but Cassidy just doesn't fit in. You need to rejuvinate the show, and a new "Lenny" is the only answer I can think of. I know your under a tight budget, but you have no choice. PLEASE, to a big Law and Order fan, do something to add some caustic humor again.

I may have heard it wrong on the episode airing 5/7/07 in Sarasota Fl, but the first six commandments are as follows...

It was unclear if they meant to use commandment 6 due to the murder or that the daughter was honoring or dishonoring her father.

I love Law and Order, but I am increasingly disturbed by the frequency of episodes that portray people with religious beliefs in a negative way. I know some of these are "ripped from the headlines," but the frequency of the story line is bordering on offensive!

Thank you so much for making all of the Law & Orders such great shows.
My all time favorite television show is the Original Law & Order, it rocks! Sam Waterston and S. Epatha Merkerson is what makes Law & Order great. The only other person who can make the show really complete is bringing back Benjamin Bratt. When these three actors, Law & Order would continue to be a household giant!

I've been watching Law from pilot to present and have enjoyed every episode and season up to and except for this season. First blame NBC for moving to the chopping block slot. Friday is not the day to put on this type of show. You move to Friday to find an audience not recapture one. Secondly I'm really not a fan of the Conviction refugees coming in to try and capture a new audience. In a perfect world I would revamp the show as follows:
1: New District Atty Jack Mccoy
2: New Executive ADA Jamie Ross
3: Detectives Green and a bitter widower Ray Curtis , or a loose canon played by Eric Balfour!!
4: New Assistant ADA Billy Desmond (J August Richards)

Arthur Branch is now the Mayor of New York (recurring character, including a story involving a murder attempt on his life)

Jack Faces his drinking problem.

Green and new partner always but heads but end up fast friends after Green saves the life of his partner. His partner however never follows the rules which almost always effects the case.

That and being moved back to Wednesday night will get you on tract to beat gunsmoke.

Just recently watched an episode of 4/17/07’s lineup Law & Order and made a half-hearted attempt to give my brain something more stimulating to focus on, nevertheless, found myself continuing to view this night’s episode. At the end, I discovered myself recalling a scene in Spike Lee’s picture show entitled “Bamboozled”, in which the main character, played by Damon Wayans, who has a name card on top of his television which read “idiot box”. His character, Delacroix would repeat the words, ‘feed the idiot box’.
Mr. Wolf what you fed the “idiot box” and what the idiot box regurgitate on me, left me wondering, how much smarter I could have been if I hadn’t continued to watch this show.

I would like to thank the producers of this show, it has helped out on many countless nights when i could not sleep. Some episodes even helped when i was depressed...Keep up the good work...Only suggestion i could give is have more marathons so i can have shows to watch all day and not just for a few hours a night...

I am a Jewish person living in America and I happened to see Law & Order on Friday, April 6th. In a new episode, the writers depicted a slimy, diamond-dealing, lying, cheating, Jewish man as the murderer of a female rap star in the show. I found it to be extremely offensive.
This does not fall into the category of "provocative and contemporary issues" that Law & Order claims to illuminate in our society. This was a simple portrayal of a terrible American Jewish stereotype.

I was very pleased with the political statement at the end about the Black/White issues in our justice system and do applaud you for that.

My husband and I are such big fans of Law and Order and both spin offs. We Tivo just about every episode (new and syndicated) We are so sad to read about the lower ratings this year. I think a lot of that has to do with Milena. It's not that she is a bad actress, she is just not the right fit for Green Not to be a traitor to my own but, the original has always had 2 male leads as detectives and I think that works for the show. I don't usually care too much about shows, they come and go, but I LOVE LAW & ORDER. We need another great, like Jerry Orbach.

You have made excellent choices up to this point; I have become addicted to Law & Order. But you have got to take Milena Govich off the cast. She doesn't fit and the shows are getting worse and worse with her on I don't even care if I have seen the newest episodes. I can't take her seriously when she even tries to arrest someone. Please! Who played the blond rightwinger tonight?

It's a shame that, in an attempt to lampoon idealists of all stripes, Law and Order's writers decided to misrepresent certain truths. The defendant with Parkinson's Disease, who supposedly purposely avoided his medication, so he'd "shake more", is clearly a reference to Michael J. Fox.

Michael J. Fox shakes a lot, and it has nothing to do with him avoiding his medication. For diseases which have no cure, currently, dosage isn't as cut and dry as the caricature presented in what was otherwise, on many levels, a brilliant episode.

Sometimes those who aspire to a certain ideal, and fight for it, are not at all out of line, and are not worthy of such ridicule.

Haha! I loved the "I have drinks with Rush" comment. Or was it the pictures of Mao and Che in the background of the professor's office. It's pretty clear how the main-stream liberals view the extreme left and right. All the while the cast was playing the middle (NOT!). "Talking Points" has an obvious agenda. This is the first time I have watched the show, and it is most definitely the last. If I wanted political entertainment I would watch split-screen of Fox and CNN. Why don't you folks stick to drugs, violence and sex; ya' know, keep things bi-partisan?

This year it seems as though you want the viewers to force the show to end.
Jess L. Martin I knew was a terrific actor (and I love his twinkling eyes showing how much he loves his work) but the fact that he can act opposite a rock, which sadly is the acting level of the woman cast opposite him is a testament to his talent but an albatross to the show.
This year it seems prettiness is the word rather than talent.
The shows also seems to have lost luster, rarely having at least the one scene where the acting or drama makes it memorable.
I have watched this show since it came on and TV guide asked who would want to watch a show half police action and half court drama.
I watch the reruns on TBS, USA and Bravo almopst religiously but this year i find I have to force myself to maintain interest in the stories.
Please don;t let it die this way; with writers who dont follow the excellent footprints of the past and actors who think a pout is acting.

I'm a long time L&O fan whose heart was broken when Jerry Orbach left the show, then passed away. I came to enjoy Det. Fontana, and was disappointed deeply to find he was replaced by Ms. Govich. She doesn't fit in. What about Michael Imperoli returning at least for a while? He was interesting and worked well with Det. Green. Just a thought.

Are there going to be anymore Law & Order DVDs going to be released. I would like the whole set up to the current series, but as far as I can tell only Series 1-5 and Series 14 have been released on DVD. Will the nine series in between be coming out on DVD?

I must say this is the worst season of L&O I have ever seen. These two new gals must be replaced ASAP. I have already stopped watching. I only watch reruns now. I was not a big fan of Dennis initially, but he grew on me. I'd much rather see him back!

Milena Govich must go. I have been watched Law & Order for every season since the show aired. This is the worst season yet. How can you let such a great show go down the tubes--- I did not care for Farina when he joined the cast, but he grew on me.. he could act.. Govich is hopeless.. Please replace her-It not too late to save the show and this show is worth saving.

I have been a follower of L&O and its spin-offs for many years. I am currently baffled by the choice of Milena Govich as the new detective Nina Cassady. No offense, but she is one stiff actress, and because she is wooden she is distracting. If and when Mariska Hargitay comes back full-time to L&O: SVU, I would recommend replacing Ms. Govich with CONNIE NIELSEN's Detective Dani Beck who is much more convincing!

There has been a 2 male detective format on L & O for 16 years and it has been the most perfect show ever know to television....now with the addition of Ms. Govich it has been reduced to the ordinary. It just does not work!

I have been a loyal L&O fan for many years; however, am a first time blogger. I am ashamed that thus far this season I have only watched one episode-the one based on NBC's Dateline sting luring men seeking sex with children via an online watch group. The content and message behind the show was absolutely great and thought provoking. Acting on the female detective's part, however, left a lot to be desired. One scene in particular stands out in my mind: A man arrested on charges of murdering one of the people on the watch group’s list is being walked by the female detective and det. Greene. The female detective asks him a question, then all of a sudden, she stops and in a "hey, I'm the cop and you're the perp" manner she tries to swing him around so he can look her in the eye and see that she really means it and he better not mess with her demands an answer to her question. Funny thing is that the action of her swinging the man around and her acting “tough” is delayed and takes place a few seconds after the question is asked. It looks rather awkward and out of place. I had to rewind my DVR several times just to make sure that I was really seeing it. Her “acting” was rather rudimentary and unbelievable. Even the most unskilled and untrained of actresses could have done a better job than that. I think that even Jesse Martin showed signs of utter disbelief on his face. It is extremely sad that a show of L&O's quality has stooped down this low and has been unable to obtain quality actors to replace det. Fontana's character. Of course, I am not sure why his character did not return for the 17th season as he and all the other characters on the show appeared to have great chemistry, if they did not, they sure hid it quite well. Please do something about the acting, as until it does not get better, I will not be able to subject myself to such mind numbing acting-regardless of how good the story line is and how strong the other characters are. Thank you very much for listening.

Being Jewish, I was deeply offended by the Friday, October 3, 2006 episode of Law & Order "In Vino Veritas", but not for what you probably expect. I had no problem with the
storyline itself or with Chevy Chase's Mel Gibson based character and his anti-Semitic remarks. This is fair game and pointing out these racist characters hopefully makes
people more aware of how ugly such people and their beliefs are.

What deeply bothered me, however was the remarks that you had a Jewish character on the show say. Detectives Green and Cassady are interviewing Bobby Gold, a young
Jewish actor who was on the show "25 to Life" with Mitch Carroll. Here is a transcript of the scene with the offensive part highlighted:

Bobby Gold: "Carroll said the reason the show was cancelled was because no one wanted to watch a rat Jew bastard like me. I went for blood, I tell you."

Detective Green: "Well, that's understandable"

Bobby Gold: "The culmination of 6 years of knocks… of bad Jewish jokes. Greeting me with Shalom every time I saw him. That's like white guys who use the N word…"

Detective Green: "Now, did word get around that this was happening?"

Bobby Gold: "What do you think? Who do you think runs the studios, the networks, all of it?"

Detective Green: "Well, we don't know that kind of stuff. So, tell us."

Bobby Gold: "Look, it's true. I got off '25 to Life' and jumped to movies and it wasn't because of some dumb sitcom. Danielle opened doors for one of her own."

Detective Cassady: "And closed them on Carroll?"

Bobby Gold: "I know she called every producer and network executive she knew and told them what Carroll said."

It's one thing when Mel Gibson or some other bigot makes anti-Semitic remarks about Jews owning all the banks or running Hollywood. These racists remarks are evil lies that
are being said by non-Jewish people and that is bad enough. But, to have a Jewish character say that it is true that the Jews run the studios and networks goes an unconscionable
step further. This remark on a popular show that is widely watched will be taken as confirmation of this stereotype by racists everywhere. "See, it's true", they'll say. "The Jews
do control Hollywood. Not only did Mel Gibson say it, but I heard a Jewish character on Law and Order say it too and his character wasn't a racist or the bad guy but an actor
in the acting business".

This exchange was not only anti-Semitic, it was unnecessary to advance the storyline. It would have worked just as effectively like this:

Detective Green: "Now, did word get around that this was happening?"

Bobby Gold: "What do you think? In this era of guerilla paparazzi stalking celebrities? Once the tabloids printed the remarks Carroll "allegedly" made the network
and studio heads were so afraid of the PC police it didn't matter whether Carroll denied the remarks or apologized for them. He was a washed-up
hot potato that nobody was going to take a chance on"

Mel Gibson's remarks were by his own admission the 'despicable ravings of a drunkard'. These remarks on Law and Order were well thought out and intentional . If we are going
to justifiably hold Mel Gibson to account for his remarks than the writer of this episode, the producer (Dick Wolf) and NBC should also be held accountable for these racist remarks.

How about making an episode based on a radio caller -murder confession aired on Friday night 11/03/06 - The Tom Leykis Show 97.1KLSX/CA - not only did this lady confess to murdering her lover but she was boasting about this event and said she was a women scorned and took matters of not being paid child alimony into her own hands. Monday night on channel 2CBS this story was covered... Not sure if they will find this lady and bring her to justice but Tom Leykis is putting up a $5k reward.

Sad world we live in but your stories seem to do well in serving up JUSTICE! GO TEAM WOLFE!!

I agree about the 2 new actresses, they are horrible to say the least. I am a loyal fan since the beginning but I am getting fed up, though I was glad to see Dennis Farina go. With every new wardrobe change the detective's blouse shows more and more cleavage. How about some professionalism? Also is it just me or does anyone else notice that they use the same actors for all 3 L&O franchises. Is that a perk for the actors or a contract obligation? In one show they are a perp and in another they are a lawyer or a cop. What a great job it must be working for Dick Wolf, sign me up. It's like never being an out of work actor.

Who is the casting idiot who picked three affectless clones from Stepford to be detectives in the L&O franchises. We want verve, wit and true grit and not idiotic detectivees who run around NYC with exposed cleavage. We women deserve better.

I am a Law & Order fan (the original),and have been for many years, however, you lost me at the first episode with the casting of the two female actresses that play the female detective Green's partner) and the new ADA. Both actress CANNOT ACT. They are very poor choices and I hope you are listening to your fan base -- please find new actors to replace these two individual -- they are ruining your show. I never thought I would say that -- because I've been faithfully tuning in for 16 seasons -- but this 17th season is NOT worth watching.

I have never blogged in my life but Law and Order is and has been a great source of entertainment for me for years. However, this years cast change may lose me as a viewer. The new female detective is imply NOT a good actress. I can't believe that you have allowed someone a part who simply can't act. It's quite disturbing and I think her inability takes away from otherwise excellent casting.

I thought that this show was really great until this season when the cast changed. I have lost interest since the two new girls cam on. The seem really cold and heartless. I wish the old cast was still on.

Mr. Wolf- Sorry about jumping on the pile but the two new women, while nice to look at are PAINFUL to listen too. In particular Govich's acting is probably the worst I've seen in some time. I'm actually embarassed for her when I watch it. Garza isn't much better but doesn't actually make me want to throw up on her. Govich does do this. It is the best show ever and I probably shoduln't complain after 17 years of quality. I just don't get how this could happen.--Damien, NY NY

Milena Govich brings a little spice and good" acting to Law & Order. She is definetly a keeper. Don't listen to the nay sayers. Thanks, Ron Emery.

I have several L&O DVD's to my collection and being a avid story writer myself. I have to admit the girls are going to have to work a little harder to win me over. I will give them some more time.

I love L&O. I'm an avid watched on Friday nights, I Love SVU too. Just wondering (sorry if this has been already asked), why did Dennis Farina & Annie Parisse. I presonally enjoyed them on the show. I can't say much about the leading ladies, since I've watched a few epidosdes w/ them in it, but I'm sure they're great.

MY GOD GIVE THE MAN A BREAK! GIVE THE NEW ACTRESSES A FAIR CHANCE! NO ONE WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO REPLACING JERRY ORBACH AND DENNIS FARINA IS A JOKE- GLAD HE IS GONE. I was so looking forward to seeing the new episodes of Law & Order but was highly disappointed that some of the actors from last season weren't present. Unfortunately, I have to leave Law & Order. The actors you choose for a part can make or break a show - get the actors from last season back.

this crazy thing refreshes and erases messages. it's great to add to diversity to the show and its characters. i just wish the stretch would incorporate a textured story. not some obvious and pasted in cliches. the "pretty" beauty queen type on the mothership and the boyish lesbian type on CI. all i'm saying is please add some depth to give us something or someone to warm up to and enjoy.

To answer your question, in case you didn't catch Criminal Intent, YES! They've written in the other young lady from Conviction as a lesbian. How do I know? B/c she blatantly flirted w/ a lesbian witness. Bad enough I wasn't excited about her slide over although I liked her previous character. But for them to stereotypically give her boyish clothing and cut her cute curly coif to make her look like what I guess the world is supposed to expect a lesbian to look like is downright lazy. And annoying. I am just so underenthused about the season.

Mr. Waterston & Thompson's characters are very strong and can carry any third player in the prosecutors office, although I feel that your choices for that part have been very good. The same cannot be said for Mr. Martin's character. He cannot carry the investigative end of the program alone and the young lady you've chosen offers no help. Return Dennis Ferina or find another strong, believable, talented actor like those you've had in the past.

I am so happy that so many people seem to agree with me about Dennis Farina. I was so disappointed when he did not return. He was the reason I have been watching thse last few years, I have probably seen every episode of all three series. I am glad the last ada isn't back but I hope Fontana reappears. This beauty queen scenario is already so weak. And where is Jamie Sheridan and more surprisingly, Carver? I knew Sheridan wasn't coming back but Surprise...at least to me the actor who plays Carver (I know his name???) isn't.

The new female det. just doesnt cut it.She acts like she is acting, she doesnt comlipiment det. Green. She is also trying to be an Oliva Benson, not happening will not watch until a change is made. the new ada is also terrible. Is not mature enough for the role. Mckoy looks annoyed.

it's interesting how the earliest posts regarding disappointment in the new detective's acting has been buried under "Archives." I think it deserves re-stating a GOOD female lead would work. This actress seems like she could have the lead in Annie and it would be the same hard edged, thickly accented, tough girl from the streets. You could even bring Det. Jeffries in - she was "transferred" from SVU, I think. Or, send Milena back to Acting class. Please. I liked Conviction, but she was my least favorite character. I now see that it's her only character.

Television is like sports. From year to year the “roster” changes and you just have to deal with those changes because there is nothing you can do about it. Do you skip a sports season just because the new guy might drop the first game of the season?? No, you support the team through the good AND bad and that’s what you need to do here. You can’t keep a show alive if you don’t support it through the good episodes AND the bad episodes. Needless to say, there are fans out here willing to keep the franchise alive despite bad opinions about the first show of the season for L&O and CI. Peace.

I am so disappointed that Dennis Farina left the show. I am a big fan of his. I hate the new Fri. 10:00 spot. I probably won't watch anymore unless Dennis comes back

First I think we can all agree Dennis needs to come back!!!! this is evident by the backlash on this new hot thing they have playing detective. Trust me I know, I am one, maybe not in NYC but dang, not even close to being right.

Ever heard of James E Reilly? You're going to become him. And maybe, just maybe, all of the Law and Orders will become good.

It seemed as though even the personalities of the existing characters changed drastically. These are the "heroes" of the show, professional and focused on the case. Delving into the character's personal lives (if it must be done) should be done with dignity. The thing with the "photos" of McCoy's daughter reminded me of a Jerry Springer episode. I would have expected her to be a successful Wall St. lawyer. The new characters were completely unrealistic. Casting some "real" women that have a lot to contribute would be more realistic.

I don't think I have ever felt such fan passion for anything like Law & Order since The Beatles came over. I'm watching The Naked City on TCM right now and I have always wondered if that movie was of any inspiration to you for the creation of L&O?

I enjoy all of the Law & Order series but I was disappointed with addition of a female detective. It is now just like the others and seems formulmatic. The dialogue of the 2 male detectives set it apart from the others.

I have been a loyal fan but I missed the witty one-liners and the repartee between detectives in tonite's episode. The detective comments have been a hallmark of your show and Dennis Farina filled the part perfectly after Jerry Orbach.

I am an avid fan of Law Order. But I think I will be skipping it this year. The integrity and reality of the show went out the window with a 20-something year old girl flashing her fake boobs and "playing" detective. I'm sure she is a nice person but how unrealistic is that. Even the performances of the other wonderful, seasoned actors were obviously strained & not up to their usual caliber. You always pick attractive ADAs (not realistic either...but they have been good actresses & able to pull it off) and though this new one is even more plastic, at least she has a few years under her belt...& MIGHT work out. I was hoping that L & O wouldn't give in to the advertisers' catering to the youngest viewers...and keep the show's style and integrity in tact. What a disappointment. This baby detective throws off the rapport/flow between the characters and even the "timing" is off. It's a bad mix indeed! I will miss the real Law & Order. (BTW-I have never blogged before but couldn't control myself this time!)

I have watched L&O since the very beginning. In the beggining I felt alone as no one I knew watched it. No when I hear people talk about how great "csi" is I can't believe it. I did try watching it and couldn't get pass the dumbing down of the forensics and the lack of believebility of the stories. I guess that you can say that I was spoiled by the master. That would be you Mr. Wolf. You ruined me for all others. Keep up the great work. (Especially (obviously) picking a great team to bring your vision to reality.

My husband & I are looooooong time watchers of all the L&O shows. I absolutely love all of them & was deeply saddened when
Trial by Jury didnt fly. It was an excellent concept. Anyway after watching tonight's episode I am upset & disappointed. The story line
was genius (as always) but these 2 new actresses were way too dry! They brought NOTHING to the show & I hope something is done to correct this
as soon as possible. They brought down the whole cast. The new detective cannot act and doesnt fit the Law & order mold ( I dont mean this in a good way).
Then new ADA was alos stale. Its like you picked the same people for both roles. Dont get me wrong I think I see what youre trying to do & I commend your
effort. But these girls are hot headed with nothing behind it. I was excited to see 2 women coming into these new roles but God there had to be better out there.

today is my birthday september 23rd...and instead of going out im sitting with frineds watching law and order...i choose law and order over my own boyfrined...even on days i need to be in class, i get so into watching the old episodes on TNT that i sometimes dont go to class...or im an hour late to wherever i was suppose to be!..just wanted to let you know that i think im almost the #1 fan...if only i wasnt 4 years old when law order first began, i think i would be. your a genius and i just wanted to let you know. i will be watching old and new episodes, to keep it running as LONG as possible.

I am a total Law & Order junkie! They’re my favorite shows and I will definitely keep watching as long as you keep making them! I was sad that Trial By Jury and Conviction didn’t make it—they were both great shows, for different reasons, and I miss them. Still, I’m glad some of the Conviction cast is getting another chance in the L&O franchise. I will miss Farina but I liked the new characters! I wish I had been here while this was going on—hopefully you’ll do this again. If not, I hope you at least know that I love Law & Order and appreciate the great work you and the cast & crew do! Keep it up for as long as you can!

Karl, Dick would never consider you for a job on L&O. It's obvious you are crazy. There are ways to contact the casting director, this is not it. You might start with an agent too.

Thank You Mr. Wolf ...but what were you thinking when you added to your cast this female detective? Forgive me
but she would be better cast on Deal or No Deal carrying a numbered silver attache than having her
join a wonderful list of outstanding detectives who have made L&O the greatest TV crime drama that I
have had the previledge of watching since it first aired. Why reduce this show to the same format that
you have in your two spinoffs.?..which I agree works for them, but L&O has a particular style that sets it
apart and raised the bar for others to follow. Isn't it enough that you have a beautiful ADA on board? I believe
that this beauty Queen Detective does not compliment the creative casting formula that has kept this
show fresh and provacative. She has no credibility and is a distraction. I hope you reconsider your choice
and seek out someone who will truly be a credit to this great show

You said that Farina decided to leave the show, but what about Annie Parisse?? She was hardly on either. And how were the characters written out of the show?? Also, What about Sheridan, Vance and Noth’s partner on CI?? Why did they leave and how were they written out??
