I have watch every Episodes of Law and Order. L&O is the best show than any other show though the years. Love the older one with Mike Logan, Curtis, Lennie Briscoe, & Claire Kincaid. I can believe these characters. Whats up with the Assistant district attorney lately, bring back a Claire Kincaid character.
How about getting some actors who act like real cops, like Dennis Farina or Dennis Franz instead of these phony balony people who are ruining L&O.

Like Jane said, I meant more of the middle class and working class crime. It just...there was a different vibe to the earlier seasons - and yeah, I'd say around four-ish season for the cutoff, though maybe a little bit later - it was less celebrity oriented somehow. There were certainly cases that dealt with celebrities, but it seemed like they were the exception and not the norm. I wish I could be more specific. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what's different. (Which, I suppose, is part of the problem, no? :) )I'll try to think on it some more and maybe post another comment here. But even excluding the middle & working class crimes, it just had a more gritty feeling to it somehow. Now things seem more polished. Like, things are made more viewer friendly now than they were ealier in the show. That isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's just different. This is hard to explain; I'm sorry. Is this making any sense at all? (If it's not, I'll try to find a way to organize my thoughts on this better.)

Well I don't think there's a problem with the writing. Make the filming of the show more gritty. I think it's a good idea to mix blue-collar and white-collar ciminal plots in seasons.
All kidding aside congrts on the start of yet another great season. Your worst show in the last 17 seasons is better thatn most of the new programming today !!

Could you comment on the shows biggest deviation from the real world. That is, the speed with which a case goes from the crime, to investigation, to trail, then final verdict, all in what appears to be about three weeks, when it would take years in real life.
I like how the different Law and Orders have the same intro song but they are all different sounding. Was that your idea?
I think she means like, middle-class crime?
Because isn't this high-profile celebrity stuff suppose to be for major case aka Criminal Intent? If not...then what's the difference between the Mothership and Criminal Intent/Homicide and Major Case?
Oh man, the first 4 seasons were the best. Absolutely amazing. Will Michael Moriarty ever reappear on the show? I loved him. Also, when is season 5 coming out on DVD?
