Aspirations

In college, I wanted to write the great American novel. I can honestly say I never had a job that wasn't associated with writing. I consider myself a writer first and foremost. I've never been to law school. I'm not an attorney. I can't conceive of being an attorney!

Lawyers have extremely trained and disciplined minds and mine is luckily unfettered.

He learned about justice or rather injustice early in his life. Cesar grew up in Arizona; the small adobe home, where Cesar was born was swindled from them by dishonest Anglos. Cesar's father agreed to clear eighty acres of land and in exchange he would receive the deed to forty acres of land that adjoined the home. The agreement was broken and the land sold to a man named Justus Jackson. Cesar's dad went to a lawyer who advised him to borrow money and buy the land. Later when Cesar's father could not pay the interest on the loan the lawyer bought back the land and sold it to the original owner. Cesar learned a lesson about injustice that he would never forget. Later, he would say, The love for justice that is in us is not only the best part of our being but it is also the most true to our nature.

What percentage of Lenny Briscoe's wisecracks were scripted vs. ad libs?

I was and still am a big fan of Jerry Orbach. Lenny is still my favorite character of all 3 shows. He did his personality superbly..I sure miss him.

Mr. Wolf, do you still want to write that novel? Why not pursue it, you shouldn't have any trouble getting a publisher interested in the project.

I know you consider yourself a writerm, but how much are you involved in the directing of the show. I'm always impressed with the visual style of Law & Order.
