Late Night Characters or bits
Dear Irish guy,It's a scientific fact that most whackings take place between the hours of 11:30 PM and 12:30PM across all time zones. It has come to my attention that many people in this line of work (although I must emphasize that I have absolutely NO firsthand knowledge of this) are very displeased that the Italian guy that used to do your show has been replaced by a Mick...

O.M. to the Motherflippin' G, Y'all!

Posted April 07, 02:11 AM

Why hello there, friends. I couldn't help but noticing that you have that look in your eyes. That look that says you want something. And you want it badly. Oh so badly. That look that says...

WHERE'S MY FREAKING BLOG POST, BLEY?! IT'S MONDAY AND I COME HERE TO THIS SITE AND YOU HAVE POSTED EXACTLY ZERO POSTS TODAY, JERKWEED.

I hate it when you're angry, baby.

Listen, here's the deal - I was out of town this weekend (NYC, if can you believe it) and really reeeeaaaaally tried to get Chill to write a sweet entry about how location scouting and all that differs in LA from NYC - He's got a couple of great stories already! But the REASON he's got a couple of great stories already is that because he's been so busy. So busy... Working. His real job, not his moonlighting job as part time blogerator like yours truly. I was already in the air and out of touch when I got his note that he couldn't swing it today.... And that's about how we arrived here!

There's actually not much to report, show wise: The web folks are supposed to have some rough designs for us to look at tomorrow - which I'm really excited about - and I've been shooting little things around the office here and there, that might be going up later this week, so that'll be cool. Still aiming to have some sort of a "pre site" up for you guys to check out in early May, so that'll be a "hoot" as the owls like to say. I had a meeting with Conan on Thursday where he played John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" on guitar... And I ended up playing the drum part with a couple of pens on his desk! That meeting had the sweetest distortion of any meeting I'VE ever been in, that's for sure! ;)

Things at the show are really starting to warm up. Many of us have been coming in every day, and getting stuff up and running - and from what I heard, a lot more people started working today! I can't wait to see their bright, eager faces!! So far it's just been a couple of interns, a few PAs, the writers, like ten production people... And me. OH GOD I'M SO LONELY YOU GUYS. Hopefully all that will change tomorrow!!! It's starting to feel like things are happening again. It's a good feeling; speaking for myself, I'ma huge workaholic, so I'm pumped to be getting back into the swing of making stuff again! Gooooood tiiiiiiimes.

Anyway. How are all of you? I'm doing just fine.

Aaron Scott Bleyaert!!
Well, I'm missing you guys!! It's still hard to believe that you're out there in LA now... oh well, I'll get used to it.
I'm sure Chill is super busy... but how many remotes can they shoot before the show's even started?? Just a bunch of random location shoots, I guess?
And also, WHAT were you doing back in NYC after you ditched it for the west coast?? I'm sure it was very cruel to you... I would imagine it felt like you weren't going out of town, but back into town.
But, like I said, I'm missing all of you horribly. I hope June gets here fast. :/
Take care everyone!!
PS- You'd better put up a video Mr Blunder Bear, or I'm gonna be ticked that you would lie to us like that. (;

************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Oh man!! What's up??? Yes, I will do my best to put up a video this week; I know it's been a while!

Finally! I was refreshing this page every five minutes since 10pm, and finally at midnight(LA time) you post it! LOL. Hope you're enjoying work. Say hi to Conan for me!

************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Ha ha ha!! Sorry about that, Alex. I think this is officially the latest blog I've ever written!! I just got off the plane, sped home, and fired it off!!

I was actually thinking where`s your post. Without that jerkweed part of course. And I remembered last year when there was announced no blog today. So I thought maybe you guys were doing another april`s fool because it`s april again. Did anyone fooled you this year?

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Was it exactly a year ago when th4re was no blog because of our joke?!? That's hilarious!! No - no one really fooled me this year... But I'm a fool ALL YEAR LONG, so that's okay!

I'am just fine beacuse I know that today it's exactly 55 day's until conan comes back on the air. Don't count yourself just take my word for it :)

Have a nice week Aaron and I will be looking forward to your next blog with a weird but funny title ;)

//
Sara

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Ha! Not that anyone's counting... ;)

That's what she said.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: And THAT'S what HE said!

How are things looking on the internship front? I sent an e-mail a week ago, and it's breaking my heart thinking my lonely e-mail is sitting unread and ignored in a flood of other e-mails from intern hopefuls. I would love a response! Hopefully a positive one!!!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Oh, the internship emails are being worked through, have no fear! I don't know if they'll send out responses either way, but your email has definitely been/ will be read!!!

Hey hey, LA Bley.

Glad to see things are starting to congeal at The Tonight Show. Can't wait to see the new web site... and more underground videos. :)

fm

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Hey hey! All that is on the way, friend... WATCH OUT!!

I hope i get to see you guys shooting some remote stuff around town, i live within a mile of the studios!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Sweetness! If you hear a big splash in the middle of the night, that's just me belly flopping in your pool!!

You have a pool, right?

i know that i am just some idiot that follows your blog, but if you are free on mondays or tuesdays, i will go to in n out with you. We can go to the one by the Fox theater, there is a sweet ice cream sandwich place right accross the street. if not, than i dont care. be lonely. i mean, you might as well just keep feeling sorry for yourself. I guess NY guys arent as tough as i though. It's pretty contradicting how you are busy and lonely at the same time. It's funny how you say you are lonely let dont want to be bothered with internet sludge such as myself wondering where you are and why you havent posted yet. I'm just farting with you dude. Go out and explore! Have fun, wear sunglasses! check out some UCB shows, takes some classes. Just go have fun. West Hollywood. WEST SIIIIIIIIDDDEE.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Thanks for the invite, dudebro!! I'm new to this crazy city, and need as many friends as possible to make my (former) New York friends jealous!

Hey Aaron!!
Welcome back to the west coast! I kid you not...your Monday posts help me get up in the morning. Though 2am posts are also appreciated. :p Btw, how many internship positions are you looking to fill? I, too, sent an email about a week ago... and I'm just waiting for some sort of reply.

Hopefully something will work out!
Enjoy the beautiful weather we're having! :p

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Nice! I'll try to make them louder and more annoying, then!

Not sure on the number of intern positions... There's not a ton for them to do right now, so maybe we'll hire more as things start speeding up for them? I dunno!

I am doing just fine thanks and listening to The Boss! It's exam time here so studying is about. It also snowed! The other day I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and two days later I was dressed up in the winter clothes. What the heck!?

I also have heard of the Trailer Park Boys but never been a fan.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Nice!! Why does it always seem like exam time?? That's just school life, I guess.

It took me awhile to get into TPB, but once I did it was glorious. They start to get funny around Season 3.

heyyy bleyaert!!! thanks 4 posting a freakin blog already! no offense, but i logged on last night 2 find nooo blog :O which had 2 hurt considering i had a texas-required test to take today with nothing to think about when i was done. anywayzzzz it sounds like yall r doin good in l.a. and possibly makin some progress. i still get fooled almost every night when i turn on my t.v. and see jimmy instead of consey :( GET ON THE AIR PLEEEEASE! nothing good is on anymore now that conan isnt on t.v.

blog some more soon, please! i enjoy details!
luuuv youuuuuuu!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: A Texas required test? About what?! Delicious chili?? We'll be back on the air soon enough, K Train... Have no fear!

Bley! I saw your tweet last night about you posting the blog a little late, so I figured it would be like a few more hours. About 6 refreshes later it was midnight and there was no blog to be found so I went to bed. According to the time stamp, this was technically posted on Tuesday, not Monday! We'll forgive you though. =D

Anyway, besides jam sessions with Conan and meetings with website makers, what else do you do all day? Do you just get to chill or do you have to actually do productive things?

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Oh no!!! You're right!! I'll have to doctor the time stamp, then. ;P

HA! I know it doesn't seem like I do anything, but I'm one of the busiest people on the show right now, mostly because the site has to go up a lot more quickly than the show. Cuckoo Cuckoo Factory, indeed!

BLEY!!
"Creep" by Radiohead came on Pandora, and I was reminding of sweet LN strike shows. I checked out the blog, got sucked into reading comments, and now I'm hereeee.

I am SO envious and really excited for everything! Thanks for keeping us in the loop! I can't wait for the website! Keep up the great work everybodyyy!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: YAAAAAAAAAAY!!! I love it, Alex!!

You are TOTALLY welcome!! I'm glad you guys enjoy our little program, and this tiny little blogeroo! I think you guys are gonna be really happy with the new site... We're gonna launch a "pre site" before the show starts, and then a "main site" on June 1st, to coincide with the new show!!! Excitement! Definitely let me know if you have any ideas that you want to see on the new website...

Do you have a Car? Cause once you get one of those, you can do anything!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Oh, I HAVE A CAR DOODER. A sweet Silver and black Jeep Wrangler! Top down, yo!! I'm waiting for my new vanity license plates to come through... And I think you will like them. ;)

(To answer your question "Wait, What's a budgie. I Forgot!)

A budgie is a small bird, Aaron and I'am suprised that you of all people didn't know that. Suprised and happy :)

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: RIGHT. I think my animal brain knew, but not my human brain. Does that make sense? If not, I can't help you. ;)

LA Bley,
Please tell us about the most cliche LA thing you've done thus far. We wanna hear about how Hollywood you've gone. Convertible sounds terribly cliche but there must be moreeee

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Hmm... Well, to be honest, I've really been trying to keep away from the cliches. I DID already get a 60 dollar parking ticket, which was fun. Oh! And I've been saying the word "totes" a lot; as in, "that's totes awecellent". I'm starting to sound like a real thick bag of douche these days.

woah.. is it just me or does this blog seem busier than usual? maybe its just you getting around to the comments or everyone is missing the show so much that this is their only fix!

You gotta get Chill to pass along the remote stories. Don't tease us... we must know! =)

Wow u have interns already? I bet they got bomabarded with emails as soon as you posted the info. Hopefully I'll get through for the next round.

So i recently added the Ellen show on twitter and I think its kinda cool that sometimes they leave show tickets around their location in Burbank for people to find. However.. I dunno if lankershim and Cahuenga would be the safest place for people to be rushing around but its definitely something to consider. Perhaps a scavenger hunt for tickets around LA?

So are you officially no longer research and purely the website side of things? Seems like you didn't even get a chance to settle in. Hope you get to enjoy stuff around town or at least the Simpsons ride next door.

Til next Mondays chumbawamba update!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: I dunno!! I think it's the fact that we're only doing one a week during the transition, so all the comments are compressed! It looks good I guess, ha ha.

The scavenger hunt is a great idea!! The traffic is a little insane around here, but maybe we could figure something out!

Yes, I am just doing the internet thing now!! Very exciting. I'll settle in after the show starts and things calm down a bit for me. Hey, there's always time to buy a couch...

are your plates AWECELNT? That is a pretty nice car. You should take that jeep out to Big Bear and do some off roading!

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Nope! I will let you know what the plates are when they arrive! I think you will be pleasantly surprised/horrified.

I was going to shoot you a few ideas about the website, but I decided that you're a lot smarter than me, and I put complete trust in you.
Biggest mistake of my life, eh?
As far as website design goes, do you have to follow the NBC website template? It's cool if you do; I understand. People are going to visit the TS website (and any show's website) who are already fans and want extra content. As long as you keep that in mind and add in behind-the-scenes goodies, I think the site will be really, really great. =] Hope you're doing well in LA.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Well, I'm almost positive that I'm not smarter than you, but I'm probably taller. And fatter. I will do my best on the new website.

yo yo-- when will conan be ready for summer internship applications???

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Don't know! A few months, maybe?

Aaron,

I know Conan is an odd fellow (don't worry, I think you're a bit strange too) and has some unique interests. Well, I think I've got something interesting. I have a super rare disorder called bimanual synkinesis. It plainly means that my hands mirror each other. Nobody knows how many cases there are (we need to schedule some sort of convention). I can't move one hand at a time, but I am a super genius. It's possibly the first advancement in human evolution, haha. Really though, this is probably one of the saddest excuses for a disorder, and I'm sure Conan would love to make fun of it.

Looking forward to the show...

***********************************************************************
Aaron Responds: No way, Cory!! We don't like to make fun of disorders or things like that. I just looked up that bimanual synkinesis, and it's wild - is it hard to live with?

Aaron,

Haha unless you have them, right?

It's not really hard to live with, but I do run into some daily problems (tying shoes-it doesn't happen). People like to hand me things and make me search my pockets. My friends don't like when I drive, 'cuz i drive stick, it's pleasantly dangerous, lol.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Tying shoes is overrated anyway - I'm a Vans man! Those shoes are stylish and comfortable, imo. Seeing you drive stick must be something!! ;)

Haha maybe you'll see me sometime, i'm usually parked in the Universal lot by Gate 4.

***************************************************************************
Aaron Responds: Maybe I will!! And perhaps you will see me... I'm the guy always dressed as a sweet ninja.
