JEALOUS...?
Posted November 08, 10:40 PMStriiiiiike four! Day four, that is! Again, we have no show tonight. Sorry everybody.
However, today I had a life changing experience... And it will come as no surprise to most of you who regularly read this blog that the life changing experience occurred because of a VIDEO GAME. Oh yes, sinners. I have seen the future of awecellent video games, and its name is... ROCK BAND.
As many of you know, we here at Late Night are huge fans of the Guitar Hero video game. We all play it, Conan included. And we all love it. It is... How do you say... THE REASON I GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING. Well, that and the nest of roaches that live under my mattress. Don't ask.
Anyway, so being a big GHer, you can imagine how excited I was when I first heard that the inventors of Guitar Hero, a company called Harmonix, were hard at work on a multi-instrument game called ROCK BAND!!! I was super excited. I was nearly comatose with anticipation. I was... How do you say... FROTHING AT LE MOUTH. However, there was one drawback - ROCK BAND was (and is) scheduled to be released on November 20th!! I was hurt. I was disappointed . I was bummed. And when the tough get bummed, the tough get... Um... Videogames? Okay, I'm not that tough. But I AM that nerdy. And us nerds are determined!!!
Look; There's a strike on. These are desperate times, people. And desperate times call for desperate measures. Specifically, desperate times call for new and awecellent videgaming measures. The pressure was on, and I realized that, if we were left to our own devices, the Late Night offices would quickly devolve into some kind of a post apocalyptic "Lord of the Flies" situation... And earlier in the week I could've sworn that I saw some people looking at me like they thought my head was a giant hamburger, so I knew that I had to get people distracted quickly lest I get shived in the bathroom and thrown in a makeshift Xerox machine crockpot!
With that disturbing image in my head and my back firmly up against the wall, I made the call (or rather, the email) to the ROCK BAND folks, and the NEXT DAY Harmonix had people setting up the game at our offices! AMAZING. THESE PEOPLE ARE PROFESSIONALS.
And then what did we do? We rocked out, of course:

That's Jason Chillemi on guitar, Roey Hershkovitz on drums, Grace Parra on vox, and Tracy King on bass!!! AWESOME, BABY!!! AWESOME FOUR TIMES!!!
ROCK BAND (you have to always write it in caps because lowercase letters just can't contain how much rock this game has) is freaking incredible!!! First of all, you've got four instruments going simultaneously (please see awesome rock photo above). Second of all, I am a total music nerd, and the song selection is DOPE FRESH. There's something for everyone - Weezer, Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, Metallica, Rush, OK Go, The Rolling Stones... The list goes on and on (and we haven't unlocked all the songs yet, so there's that to look forward to as well). It was a constant stream of people in and out of Tracy's office today while everyone took turns rocking out! It was great, and really boosted all of our morale!! I think that a bunch of us are actually GETTING TO WORK EARLY TOMORROW so that we can have more time ROCKING OUT!!!! Yessssssss!
Thanks, Harmonix!! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST PEOPLE I'VE EVER KNOWN IN MY WHOLE LIFE AND THAT INCLUDES MY PARENTS WHO GAVE ME THE GIFT OF LIFE. Sorry, Mom and Dad. But seriously... Can you guys handle "Foreplay/Longtime" on Expert?! I didn't think so.
See you all tomorrow!! ROCK!
