What do South Africa, Nevada, Native Americans, Paul Campbell, and Kitt have in common?
“I implore you†as Kitt likes to say – read on.
Poor Billy Morgan. Always back in the Kittcave while Michael Knight gets the girl. Billy sits at his workstation and pines for Sarah, gets played over and over by Zoe, but he never seems to get anywhere -- that is, until tonight’s episode.
Yep, Mike and Billy head for Las Vegas to take down a crew of sophisticated casino thieves, and Billy works in a little extra-curricular activity along the way.
Now, here’s the back-story on the characters and the location.
First, there’s Vegas. It’s 300 miles from us here in LA, and not a great town for shooting a TV series. If that seems counter-intuitive, think about it. Shooting inside a casino is a big deal. Security is all over the crew, and if you want to simulate a casino heist, forget it. When there’s real money around, the real guys with the real guns tend to get nervous. Then there’s the disruption factor; Las Vegas casinos make more in a day than we could ever pay for a location fee, so they’re not particularly keen on 200 members of a TV crew settling in for a few days.
So how do you do Vegas when it’s too far, too expensive and you’re the red-headed step-child?
Enter the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. These nice folks just happened to build a huge Vegas-style hotel and casino 90 miles east of Los Angeles on the edge of the desert near Palm Springs. We took our entire crew of 200, put them up for three days in the hotel, ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and shot this episode of “Knight Rider†everywhere from the casino to the pool to one of the cabana-style suites. It was awesome and it looks exactly like Las Vegas.
And one lucky member of the crew hit a $4000 dollar slot jackpot.
Now, what about Mike and Kitt and all those driving scenes? Without getting too technical, our visual effects wizards composite Kitt in with real footage of Las Vegas – footage we were able to get form the series “Las Vegas,†a show Gary Scott Thompson created and I wrote on for five years.
So, easy-peasy, right?
Not so fast. Some of those visual effects artists who create the composite shots do their work in South Africa. Say what? We actually digitize the footage of Kitt driving (shot in front of a green screen), then we digitize the footage of the Las Vegas backgrounds, then upload both sets to the internet. The digital artists in South Africa download our uploads, marry the two sets of footage together then send it back via a very big and fast internet data pipe to us here in LA. Then we drop the shots into the show.
And that’s how you get to Vegas via South Africa and Palm Springs, baby.
Oh yeah, and Billy meets a beautiful girl, wins a hundred grand playing blackjack and saves Mike from the bad guys. But that’s another story.
Matt
ps - true fact: Courtney Flynn, Billy's love interest in this episode, was named after Courtney Flynn, who works on the show...
I've been waiting for some Las Vegas to show up on Knight Rider! Nice touch and great episode! But are you really going to make us wait 'til January for a new episode!!! not cool ;)
i was hoping to see Danny, Mike, Sam, and Delinda show up at the Montecito, not the corsica! oh well. you more than made up for it by giving Billy some action. more paul campbell, i say!
South Africa? Really? I guess in the internet age you could've told us some dudes on the international space station did your special effects, and i'd believe it. i actually thought you shot it on location, so i guess it worked out well. nice job south africans! between that and charlize theron, i almost forgive you for apartheid.
Meh, as they say.
What about the recycled shot from the backdoor pilot where the camera pans to focus on the Cobra? ;)
Anyway, this episode was much MUCH better than last week's and finally drove through a wall! Now if only it was shot better... Oh well, still nice to see it happen. Liked the black ice thing too.. Still could have used more KITT action but I'm sure there's budget constraints and other stuff, which sucks. Not a fan of Billy driving but his side story was nice, Charles was alright too though I cannot stand the whole Green Week BS and the stupidity that goes with it, but I can't blame you guys for that since it's a NBC/GE mandate. I'm not sure how I feel about the shilling of the 2010 Mustang but I guess it could've been worse and at least it was brief, nice tease but I guess Ford didn't want very many people seeing it, heh. I need to watch this episode again to soak it in more since I was distracted.
But it looks like my Wednesdays at 8pm are going to be freed up for the next month or so since I'm not even touching NBC on Wednesdays until there's a new episode. I have absolutely no desire to see Rosie... Why has Knight Fever been held off for so long? Did it turn out really terrible or was it just a placement issue?
Let's see, constructive criticism... hm, things I didn't like about this episode... Well, we do seem to be back to bikinis, this time with gratuitous suntan-lotion-rubbing action, but considering the setting I bought it everything but the sexy torso rubbing...
Guys, you know what? I liked the WHOLE EPISODE. Nothing stood out as weird, no plot holes, no blatant attempts at 'shipping, nobody seemed redundant... Okay, okay, so there were two romantic subplots, but they were ROMANTIC instead of sexual, which is a huge relief. Billy had some emotional content in his, and Charles and Tess had other things going on-- not only were they working and flirting, they were working, flirting, and trying to outthink each other. I liked Kitt actually offering to do things in the beginning instead of having to be told, I liked him missing Mike while Mike was out of contact-- it makes sense, he's used to being able to see or hear Mike whenever he wants-- I REALLY like the Mike-Billy dynamic, I liked that Zoe helped Billy date, I liked seeing Carrie do something active and FBI-agent-ish, I liked the plot, I liked that Sarah wasn't dominating this episode...
It gets silly trying to list what I liked because there was so little that I didn't like. Go you guys!
Oh, there is one thing-- the pilot had Mike living outside Vegas (I presume in Henderson, where it's a little cheaper to get a house), but it was never mentioned in the episode. Is he just sitting on it, or has his origin changed? ... And in Living Dead, Charles said that when Mike was in high school, he dismantled Charles's car and reassembled it on the roof of his lab as a Halloween prank-- did Jenny still send Mike off to military school, then? It's not that I'm married to the pilot, really, it's just that I know some things have changed and it'd be nice to know what's been chucked and what's been kept. It makes things confusing.
But that's a whole other ball of wax, and I know it's really difficult to gracefully explain that kind of thing.
Last week wobbled for me-- the trend of improved writing every week held, even if I didn't like a lot of what was being written about-- but this week was solid. Easily the best one yet, a good mix between the vibe you've been building for yourselves and the feel of the original show.
Bravo! When I try to hook people on the show, it'll be this episode and Living Dead that I use, I think.
I just realized that Torres was no where to be seen. O_o
What's the name of the song that played at the end of ep05 when Mike said"Happy Birthday" to Sarah?
What is the Knight Industries Research section for? How do you get in?
What does SSC stand for?
The SSC stand fors Super Secret Camp lol jk....
I am still confused as to what the new passcode is. I can't figure it out. I know where it is (personal part of Alex Torres file), and I thought I had it figured out. Sadly, I guess I didn't. Hmmmm...I always love challenges, but I can't seem to think of anything besides learns along and learns alone. I need help figuring out the acronym w/ all of the same letters, just jumbled up and flip-flopped. Anybody know the code? PLEASE!!!

Hi Matt,
First I love the posts every week from the writers on the show. It's a neat thing to go to after watching the latest ep. I don't know if other shows do this but I do enjoy it from the KR team - It seems you all enjoy making the new show and are probably fans of the old show. It reminds me of the team around Doctor Who (and of course Torchwood) who seem to get just as much a kick out of the show as the viewers do.
Having said that, it really shows that you (the crew, writers, cast, crew) care about the show and want to make it really good. Each episode, to me, is better then the one before and seems to show an ever growing understanding of what does and what does not work for the show.
Early on I said I didn't care for the massive cast but it seems you have worked out the kinks and have found a place for each of them. The two characters which I immediately cringed at the idea of - Billy and Zoe are actually interesting and fun to watch. Billy gained a lot of points of course when he dressed up as Torchwood's Captain Jack Harkness. And he isn't nearly the total dweeb he intially seemed to be.
While I am still on the fence about Keri (sp?) she doesn't annoy me at all as I was kind of worried she might. I understand there is a cast slimming coming, and I'm sorry to hear that - I hope perhapes these characters will be regulated to guest apperances now and then, not just completely written out of the show. Daddy Graiman is a wonderful character and I would love to see an episode that revolves around him Kitt and Sarah. His character is great, I really hope he isn't written out. He is the Devon of this series.
Please keep up the great work and keep me laughing. While people may ridicule the show for being cheesy or silly - it's absolutely why I love Knight Rider. I like shows that don't take themselves to seriously and I think others do as well. Long live KITT! :-)
Why will there be no new episodes for a while?
Also is there any chance we could get an explination as to what is going on with the show. An official explanation? Please?
There are fans out here that do enjoy - dare I say love - the show more or less as is. What is this talk of a reboot? Was it always planned?
What is going on?
Fans want to know! LOL
I know there are people who talk trash about the show but personally I think they need to stop being so serious about television shows... I mean it's a show about a talking smart alec car! Law and Order it ain't!
I think people need to go back and watch the original KR and realize that that show wasn't any where as serious as people seem to think. I mean...some of the episodes in that were pretty over the top. And I LOVED the original series, but even I can admit that some of the stuff they did in it was ludicrous. But...that was kinda the point.
It's fantasy. Not scifi not just fiction - it's a fantasy show. Just roll with KITT and everythin will be alright.
So anyway, if you guys at KR could give us an official heads up it'd be much appreciated.
-PS could some one fix the comment box so that I can actually see it when I type it? (I actually have to write it in note pad then paste it in.
Whoa whoa...no new epi. for awhile? Since when?
After seeing this episode again and doing a little thinking, my liking of it has decreased quite a bit, still better than last week's but that's not saying much. I'm not going to copy the novel I wrote on a certain Knight Rider related site but I do hope the episodes we've seen aren't thebest that these writers can do. I also hope that with the retooling that not only will the writing improve but the budget as well.
I mean the budget will increase for some real driving scenes and more practicle effects and stunts. Though losing three cast members will probably help with that, IF that money saved is allocated to stunts and action.
PART I
Well I've been giving this a lot of thought. In all honesty I should be paid for what I'm about to give you but as a fan who does not want to see this series fail, I'm going to give you what I feel are the keys to a successful Knight Rider series...
Honestly it is for the sake of not seeing another Knight Rider project fail that I am volunteering to give you this advice so I ask while you might not agree with it at first, please consider that having written a 680 page book on the original mythology of Knight Rider that will be released by the end of this year, I might just know what I'm talking about and to really give it some thought.
So here we go...
Let's look at this in terms of the "reboot" you have chosen to do at this point in time.
According to recent sources, you are letting go of your top three actors/actresses and going back to the simplistic nature of Mike and KITT going out to help ordinary people and slim down the number of people on this show.
This is an excellent move but I would really suggest you consider keeping Bruce Davidson around as Charles. Even as weakly developed as he is as a "genius" of sorts, he is a much needed authority figure that lends balance to the team. I absolutely agree that Torres and Ravai need to go. They're too much involved with the politcal end of things with the FBI and so on which is really unecessary in the world of Knight Rider.
The beauty of the original series is that Michael and KITT were able to help the innocent, the powerless, the helpless in a world of criminals that operated above the law with their team members IN THE BACKGROUND.
I'd really think about how you're going to make Mike, Sarah, Zoe, and Billy work without an authority figure around to guide them. It's possible sure but is it really the smart thing to do?
A possible solution is to bring in another character to replace Charles as the authority figure by making him some sort of relative of Devon Miles. Could be a son, could be a brother we don't know about...think it over. Devon rarely mentioned his family life and there's room to play with in there that would not resort to revisionst history.
Cutting costs - With the departure of your three highest paid actors you have more money to work with, however where is that money really going to go? More visual effects? More product placements? More sets? I think your main problem with the show is that if you really want to take it back to its roots you need to lose the over the top gimmicks of Transformers and bring this show back to a simplified form.
This means stop spending money on building an Attack KITT, a 4x4 KITT, a Ford Flex, a Police car, etc. etc. and go back to having TWO cars and TWO cars only. Save yourself the hassel of having to build all these vehicles and leave it back to the forumula of the original series with two forms of KITT. That's all you need, the hero Shelby GT500KR and if you insist the Attack KITT and if possible a remote controlled KITT for solo driving sequences. I can't tell you how much people comment on how they loved seeing KITT drive himself in the backdoor pilot, let alone the original series. We have the technology, you used it once...do it again.
It's not only unbelievable but uncessary to have so many other "cars" for KITT to morph into when you could invest that money into making more stunt cars that resemble the GT500KR and wreck those (Used Mustang GTs? Build the body of Shelby over another chassis?), jump those, etc. Stop spending money on over the top CG turbo boost shots and hiding things with flashy editing tricks and go back to the traditional way of doing things...the practical way.
Your VFX staff pride themselves so much on being able to show KITT in any environment from muliple angles or whatever. Have them try to a more practical looking turbo boost shot with real cars or hell even higher scale minatures against green screen. It can be done, you just have to take the time to focus on what is important and I know you have the technology and the staff to make it happen.
You have all this downtime to fix things, make it count. Come back strong and you will get that second season pick up, from there you will find when things work easier you'll have less stress and more fun doing it. You make a #1 hit show and capture the ratings, everyone will be happy.
Let's face it, NBC needs a hit. The time for Heroes is dwindling and with so many shows on the chopping block, you have the power to make Knight Rider your flagship title all you have to do is care enough to put your ego aside and make Knight Rider feel like Knight Rider is supposed to feel.
Keep the plots simple but keep the pacing consistant. Look at the formulas for the original series. The majority of the time they worked because you have a beginning, middle, and end that flowed. I was not broken up by tricky editing tricks and flashes of unecessary sexuality. Yes there was sexuality in the original series but it wasn't center stage, it didn't draw immediate attention to iself like this new series tends to do where a camera will suddenly zoom in on some breasts or butts. Every scene in an original series episode served to move the story forward, it wasn't just a gratuidious opportunity to toss in sexuality, it used sexuality for the purpose of establishing the story. Make it work with the story, not against it.
Instead of having to make all these different "modes" and spend money modifying each one, make cars made for specific purposes just like they did with the Trans Am. Keep the focus of the car action on the HERO KITT. The HERO KITT has always been the focus of an audience's attention that make them go "wow". We want to believe the new KITT Mustang is as impressive and powerful (if not more so) then the classic Trans Am and right now we're not seeing that on any real level. You finally smashed a KITT through a wall, bravo but why not in hero mode?
Why is almost every bit of danger KITT faces have to be done in Attack Mode? Super Pursuit Mode in the original series was used in emergency situations, it wasn't a standard necessity to fight crime in the heat of battle. It was used for extra speed. KITT could fight off villains in hero mode which was supremely more effective then SPM ever was.
We want to see the things you consider to be uncessary. We want to see the Mustang perform a SKI MODE, we want to see it Turbo Boost and we want to see bullets impact it, even if they just bounce off a cracked shell like the backdoor pilot or use explosive flint/squib effects. Lose the nano-tech shields idea, it's far too Star Trek for a show that's supposed to be in OUR reality, not so far fetched that it has to borrow technology typically seen used by aliens from another planet. (Which are Transformers BTW)
Why is this so hard to understand? I urge you to go back and watch the original series on dvd and look at ALL FOUR SEASONS, not just the pilot. You can really see how the series evolved over time and how it grew stronger, especially when Robert Foster came on board. Really pay attention to the impressive stunts that Jack Gill and his team were able to pull off to wow the audiences of yesteryear. Investigate how they built the stuntcars, invest in Jack Gill's customized turbo boost ramp system. Don't use real Shelbys for the jumping stunts, use a Mustang GT that looks like a GT500KR. Find cheaper materials to build them with, in our modern day the idea of building stuntcars should be cheaper and more effiecient.
Figure out a way to create the shell that went over the older TA that allowed them to keep layers off the body to keep it looking pristine, then use the same methods on the hero KITT of today. There are ways to fix things that are not only vastly more effective visually but also cheaper then what you're doing now. Their are cheaper and more effective solutions if you will just take the time to explore them. Quit looking at the original series as a dated, cheesy, past its prime buddy-cop show and look at what made it possible. Look at the production and find ways to improve upon it...modernize what it used back then, make it work today.
You have the technology to do this, you can make things work from a effects POV that's beyond just CGI. Look at how the original KITT handled dangerous situations. You're talking about a car that can drive through a flow of scorching hot lava twice! The car would jump from one parking structure to another, crash through solid concrete walls, take a hit from high powered lasers, take gunfire like it was nothing...this car was amazing because WE BELIEVED it was able to do what it did, even if they used cheaper looking minatures it's the combination of visual effects, practical effects, and miniature photography that MADE IT WORK. These things worked together to form the shot, you didn't see the distinction unless you were really looking to pick it apart.
Really consider that how you're framing shots now, how you're using your effects can improve and it can improve without much increase in your costs if you start to limit your need to clone Transformers and get back to the roots of what makes Knight Rider tick. Audiences want a show that feels like Knight Rider has returned to the air with the same attention to detail and excitement we loved as kids. Sure your new audience isn't aware of what the original show was to the extent other fans are but we know what excites us, we know what that "wow" factor is and it starts with the car...THE CAR doing things, not just its technology.
KITT was the soul but THE CAR was KITT's body, the A.I. itself wasn't enough and the producers knew this. That's why they had to make the car special...they gave it gimmicks that at the time other cars could not do to set it apart from what other cars could do. Yes, our cars cannot transform into other vehicles but so what? It's not necessary to handle our day to day lives. Making it change shape makes it unique but it doesn't necessarily make it that special.
Driving fast, we can already do that. Hacking networks? We can do that with a computer just as easy. We need to see this car rushing headlong into danger and taking a few hits for the team...without fear because we know the car is nearly impervious to damage. Instead we get weakness after weakness week after week that shows how insanely vulberable this car is and makes us pine for the days of the MBS (Molecular Bonded Shell).
A simple yet effective invention that insured for the most part, when KITT rushed into gunfire we knew we were going to see something special when those bullets bounced off. When KITT smashed through a wall we didn't question what kind of damage it would do...because we knew that with the shell, it took a serious and usual circumstance to damage it.
The car itself, internally had all sorts of flaws sure...but the "skin" we knew was what made the Trans Am one of a kind from every other car out there...that the dash from just looking at it was ahead of it's time and visually exciting...this was a car we wanted to own or build not because it's a "hot car" but because it was uniquely designed to be in a leage of its own.
We want to see that car slam through walls, leap over trucks, obstacles, etc.. We want to see that car do things that normal cars can't, not just because of it's AI but because of it's design itself...the CAR'S design. Who cares about morphing upgrades and transformations.
That doesn't make the car better, that just makes it turn into something else that makes it supposed to be better i.e. "attack mode". You shouldn't need attack mode to do simple jumps and use weaponry. It's gimmick for the sake of gimmick, it's not for the sake of being practical.
Make this show make sense! Make the technology make some sort of logical sense that people can follow so we know what can and cannot hurt this allegedly nearly invulberable car. Make it tangible not a challenge of how long we can suspend our disbelief.
=VK=
Knight Rider takes place on our world in our time (at the time), it's a car that is supposed to exist with advanced technologies that we can still buy into. Honestly there isn't much I can say this car can do that I believe can be done today. We have HUD, that's not special, your sterolithographic angle...yes we have that kind of technology for rapid prototyping but it doesn't fuse different alloys together. You can't generate metal and plastic out of thin air. You can make a resin mold or plastic mold or even a full metal CNC type machined part but the way it was done in this series, entirely ubelievable. It's equivelant to a "replicator" in Star Trek and we believe that works because it's vastly AHEAD of our time by THOUSANDS of years, not just 10 or even 20.
You CAN do this NBCU, Gary Scott Thompson, anyone who reads this...you have the power to make a difference. If you want a #1 blockbuster show on the air, you get what you pay for! You get what you invest your energy into! You want a lasting audience, you need to give the people what they want instead of trying to "guess" what they want or tell them what they want.
I think you get the point so I'll move on.
Lastly, let's consider you decide to scrap most of the cast and bring it back to just Mike, Sarah, Zoe, and Billy. Your whole KARR fiasco is resolved, Charles is dead, etc etc. Here's another idea to cut costs...DESTROY the SSC KITTcave.
You don't need it, KITT already has enough capabilities to handle the types of missions Mike should be handling. Here's an idea, if you really want to tie things together especially with the backdoor pilot what you need to do is scrap the "cave" and play this angle.
Charles is dead, the SSC, is in ruins. Mike, Sarah, Billy, and Zoe are devasted...there is no where to go, they don't know what to do...but there is a solution. In Charles's last recorded message (like a will) knowing his life was reaching its end, he left a very important message to the ones he cared for most.
Charles informs Mike and Sarah to use his old mansion as a new base of operations. Since Charles created the K3000 in his garage, everything Mike and Sarah need to keep KITT maintained should be there. Everything that Charles has is left to Mike and Sarah, giving them full control of his mansion, garage, equipment and so on.
It is in that moment of reflection that Mike decides to reform F.L.A.G. the original concept of one man and his car making a difference with the help of his team in the background. The mansion security is upgraded and Charles's former home, a home he fled that started the entire journey now becomes the centerpoint for a new start...this is the new Knight Mansion...the base of operations. Gone is the KITTcave, replaced is the equipment in Charles's garage, also upgraded where needed...perhaps it also features a version of the spinning gimble used to maintain KITT from any angle. Whose to say that Charles didn't also invent that device as well and has a prototype gimble set up in his garage that was contained under tarps?
Let's also consider how do you lose the transformations or at least limit them?
First off lets look at the potential fallout from the "reboot" point. If the SSC is gone, if the additional members are gone and everything is in shambles, whats to say that KITT's abiities to transform into multiple vechicles is damaged too?
With that being said, with no base of operations how to rebuild something as advanced as KITT is? Simple you find all the original equipment inside Charles's garage and you rebuild him from that. This means you could cut costs by limiting what he could do with transformations but still keep the basic structures you need in tact. He doesn't turn into various other cars on the road with flipping panels but returns back to the backdoor pilot angle where he can mimic other cars equal to his mass, change colors, and heal from bullet based damage. Go back to what worked and in the backdoor pilot for all the things that didn't work, there were some practical ideas that DID work.
With KITT repaired from the older tech in Charles's garage you can re-incorporate some of the older effects from the two hour while blending them with the new series angle. Keep the HUD, keep Attack Mode if need be but now you can introduce that KITT can now handle things in hero mode because now he's equipped to do so. He can now turbo boost in hero mode, form rockets, etc. He doesn't need Attack Mode unless it's a extreme situation and the need to "hide it" from the real world is less necessary because you're no longer dependent upon attack mode for KITT to do things that he should be able to do with hero mode to begin with.
Make Sarah and Billy the new "Bonnie and April" in terms of they both work on KITT and keep track of his upgrades, etc. Let Sarah take a step back away from the spotlight and keep the crew in the mansion. I'm really not sure what to do with Zoe, I guess she could handle the business end of things. I think the central idea when it comes to a team with Knight Rider is less is more. You want to make Zoe, Billy, Mike, and Sarah the new Devon, Michael, Bonnie, and RCIII so be it. Pay attention to how the original series balanced screentime and where it worked and did not work. The original series is not perfect but it is a good roadmap to reference from with respects to how to balance so many characters in an episode at once.
Really consider that you don't need over the top high tech equipment to make this series work. You can cut costs here and there by limiting your sets just like in the original series. Perhaps you re-introduce the concept of the Knight Semi, updated to meet modern day standards but again keep the interior limited to a soundstage, and just like his father Mike drives KITT right up the back of it when out on missions where he can't return to the mansion to repair KITT on the road.
You can keep the plane but dress it up more, make it special and only use it when KITT needs to travel somewhere he can't reach by driving there. Really take the money you're going to save from cutting the transformations and the extra cast, even the bigger bolder sets and invest it where it counts IN THE STORY and the elements NECESSARY to TELL THE STORY.
Knight Rider was able to survive for four seasons because the exec producers were able to find ways to keep the show going on a limited budget by using only what was absolutely necessary. You can do the same thing. You don't need massively built sets to make a story work or frivelous CG eye candy.
Yes the car is essential but so is the relationship between Mike and KITT. Consider that the best scenes from the original series were when Michael and KITT were on the road talking before Devon interrupted them with business. Michael wouldn't have to drive all the time either, he could sit back and read or play video games while KITT drove for him.
Keep that aspect alive...give Mike and KITT enough time on their own to continue to bond. You're off to a great start now but push it even stronger. You can still have Mike and KITT communicate with Sarah, Billy, and Zoe from the mansion through KITT's hud but you keep the key players in focus...keep the relationship on Mike and KITT and you will gain so much more momentum from the series. I think it's time to consider going back to the "KISS" rule.
In order for Mike to be a lone crusader he has to have time to be "a lone" with KITT. The relationship between Michael and KITT was essential to the original series and I believe you're starting to get that from your previous episodes but don't lose focus...keep it going.
Look at Knight of the Living Dead. Those scenes with Mike, KITT, and Sarah speak volumes to the chemistry they have when they're left alone to develop. Despite all mishaps at the SSC, people remember the relationships that are built in this episode more so then reconstructing soundwaves, tracking down assassins (who apparently aren't very good shots because Charles is immediatly "ok" and Zoe wasn't shot at point blank range).
You want a season 2 arc? How about introducing that the man who was after the plans in the backdoor pilot "Promethus" turns out to be Garthe Knight who survived the plunge into lake after flying off the cliff in Goliath Returns? How about he was so injured from the fall that he had to have his face surgically reconstructed and in the process lost his hair? What if Garthe Knight returns without the need of David Hasselhoff due to his reconstructive surgery and he's not only bald but he's got a scar running down the side of his face?
Cosmetics are negotionable but being THE Garthe Knight you realize that he wasn't after the plans for K3000 originally, he wanted the plans to the K2000 to get the MBS again and found something more...the nanotechnology to resurrect Goliath yet again but this time bigger, badder, and stronger then ever before? What if Garthe realizes that to get to Michael Knight who has disappeared, he has to go after his son to draw him out? There's a lot of things you can play with here that aren't campy, they're a bridge to connect the original series to the new series through characters that actually exist.
What if the Devon Miles replacement character I mentioned before talks about the experiences with his brother/father or whatever and begins to tell Mike and Sarah about the original crew? Bring the old mythology into the new mythology but do it in such a way you honor it, not alter or disrepect it. What if Mike goes looking for his father's grave and instead finds Stevie Mason Knight's headstone instead? What if Mike investigates the background of Stevie and uncovers that his father married her?
You really have a lot of room to play with but you need to seriously consider these examples I've expressed to you. While I don't agree with a lot of things you've chosen to do and I'm just one man out there, I believe I speak for a lot of people who love the potential of this show and want to see it blossom into something that is like nothing else on television.
Make Knight Rider a trendsetter not a trend follower. You can do this if you try to make the difference and think outside the box you have constructed for yourself.
I'm not saying my ideas are all right but I know for a fact they're not absurd either. If you really consider what I have said here, I honestly believe you'll bring this show up to the level it needs to reach in order to reach the legendary status of the original series.
Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4....it will all fall into place.
If you want to get in touch with me, I'm not a hard man to find. Ask anyone on KRO and they'll know how to reach me. I want to help because I don't want to see this show fail, I've seen enough failed attempts at this property to last a lifetime.
You have the technology, you have the talent of your cast and crew, you have the resources to make it happen but you have to be willing to pay for excellence. Use the money that's necessary to make this show go the distance, narrow it down to its key elements and use those elements. You have the power.
Make the difference.

When is the next episode of Knight Rider going to air on NBC??
December 31st, they'll finally be airing Knight Fever. Then Sunday November 4th will be the start of the supposedly retooled episodes and the first half of a two part followed up by the conclusion on November 7th.
Haha, whoops! I meant January 4th...
We have to wait an entire month for the next episode??!! where does it was the next one is coming out on Dec. 31st?
well i hope next year we see the Knight Industries TWO Thousand and William Daniels voice!!! David Hasselhoff and maybe the KNIGHT INDUSTRIES THREE THOUSAND and Mike Tracer could team up for a episode!!!! now that would be the BEST show!!!
ughh.. Victor Kros makes me sick... WHAT.A.NERD.
You can call me a nerd but even now you're probably reading this response.
"If I make you sick" then that makes you a hypocrite for contining to read what I say and I'd rather be referred to as a "nerd" then be proven a hypocrite in front of the entire world.
But hey "Me" since you lack the courage to post a real name, I guess you can revel in your private notions of internet victory.
=VK=
Hey VK, I'm obviously reading your response, how else I could know that your answered, moron!! I'm not saying that you are a nerd for reading and writing here... everyone can read and write comments, that doesn't make people nerds... you are a NERD for taking a fictional show so seriously, that you feel you MUST write two GIGANTIC comments that probably nobody will read entirely because they are SO LONG AND BORING AND LAME!!
For the record, I always read the first one or two lines of every comment writen here, to see if it is something interesting, like news or good questions about the show or clues about the show.
I see that you wrote a 680 page book about the original Knight Rider... I guess that makes you an expert and a the guru of Knight Rider, and we all should bow to your magnificence and listen to your gospel about how to make a great Knight Rider show...... If you haven't noticed, that was pure sarcasm. You are worst than a Trekkie... just the notion of a fan writing to the producers/writers of the show "I should be paid for what I'm about to give you" is so STUPID. You should go and get a life, instead of wasting your time writing "advices" that no one has asked for.
P.S: I'm betting that Victor Kros is not your real name... but, what is the point on giving you my "real" name, you don't know me in real life, so, to you is the same if my name is "Me" or "Potato" or "Michael Knight"... in the end, it's just a username.
"For the record, I always read the first one or two lines of every comment writen here, to see if it is something interesting, like news or good questions about the show or clues about the show."
"I'm obviously reading your response, how else I could know that your answered, moron!!"
Clearly you miss the point and yet you had to have read through my entire posts to find where it says, "I would offer to help as a consultant etc. etc." So obviously what I have to say IS of some interest to you if you keep continuing to read it past the "few lines" and not as you put it -
"two GIGANTIC comments that probably nobody will read entirely because they are SO LONG AND BORING AND LAME!!"
Apparently then if they're so "boring, long, and lame", you continue to read them anyway and that my sophmoric acquaintance continues to make you a proven hypocrite so really whatever else you have to complain about me or my posts has no value whatsoever.
As far as the book goes, I've never said nor will I ever say I am the "guru" of Knight Rider. I know a great deal of things but I do not strive to know every single little nitpicked detail from every episode ever made.
Credibility...maybe you should look the word up and then practice what you preach brother.
=VK=
HAHAHAHAHA you are such a freak... of course I've read more than just a few lines of your posts... if I haven't read at least part of your posts, I wouldn't have started this discution in the first place. In my original post I never said that I didn't read any of your posts, I just wrote that you make me sick. I got sick of you after reading your early posts and reading parts of your last two gigantic posts.
"So obviously what I have to say IS of some interest to you if you keep continuing to read it past the "few lines" and not as you put it" So, you can't jump from one paragraph to another? If your post is so long, of course I have to read more than two lines to get the big picture... and I have to get the big picture, or else you would be right in saying that I'm a hypocrite. Without the big picture, I wouldn't know that your posts are boring and lame. I'm sure you know that a person can read in diferent ways, is not necesary to read an entire thing... have you heard of speed reading?
"As far as the book goes, I've never said nor will I ever say I am the "guru" of Knight Rider."
"In all honesty I should be paid for what I'm about to give you but as a fan who does not want to see this series fail, I'm going to give you what I feel are the keys to a successful Knight Rider series..."
Come on... and you say your are not a guru? ok ok... you are a professional consultant of all things related to Knight Rider... we should give you money for your thoughts... BUAH HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!
All this discution is so funny!! Come on, come on, give me a good answer, moron!!
XD
"All this discution is so funny!! Come on, come on, give me a good answer, moron!!"
You're calling me a moron and yet you can't spell "discussion" correctly?
Now that's ironic.
This is the last response you're going to get from me because obviously you're not getting the message and I grow weary of trying to dumb it down for you.
=VK=
I'ohhhh I didn't spell correctly ohhh!! I'm such a moron!! XD
OK OK, I'm done, you win, I'm a moron, you're not, please, give me your autograph...
XD
