Hey GST, My questions about the show are all regarding stuff that was dropped from the pilot.

Firstly

Why were the attack mode and interior from the pilot dropped?
In my opinion they were much more stylish and slick than their replacements

Secondly

Why was the openning sequence from the pilot dropped? I know parts of it were incorporated into the current openning, but I think the openning from the pilot was much more modern and suited this modern continuation better.

Thirdly

What was the behind the decision making KITT a mustange instead of something closer to the original TransAm (eg.a Corvette)

Finally (This is regarding Vegas so slightly off topic)

Is there any new news on a Las Vegas ending? A merger between Las Vegas and Knight Rider would be sorta cool too. Maybe Mike met Danny while in Iraq??

for Knight Industries Research, is the password and username one for everyone or does each person have their own individual username and password? and how can we find clues in the show?

1. I see absolutely no logical point in having pop-up displays on KITTs hood.

2. Unless KITT is going to be hauling stuff in his truck bed in 4x4 mode, I see no point in it. For off-road driving, all that would need to morph are his tires.

I realize the show is supposed to be "fun", but some logic in the show would be nice too.

Overall, I like it so far, but those two points I mentioned above are bugging me.

Hey Mr. GST, I havn't seen the show yet, because I'm from Europe, but i have seen the tv movie and looking forward to love the series. I know you wasn't involved in that backdoor-pilot project, but... Mike Traceur didn't have any military tattoo on his right forearm in that movie. Im sure your team noticed it by developing the series. So why you're going to ignore things that were already established in the 2008 version of Knight Rider?

ok here is my question why did you guys get rid if the attack mode that was in the movie? it looked way better than the one on the show. yea the nestalgic shelby idea was nice but doesnt really suit the car. my other question is How much is ford paying for you to use a mustang? because to be honest it is a disgrace to the origninal series honestly you should have gone with a new c6 zo6 would have been alot better of a car to use and would have kept the die hard gm fans that loved the pontiac in the original series.

Big fan of the original show. Really would like to see the concept of Asmov's laws played out through the story line. First KITT had Asmov's 1st law "A robot cannot endanger a human life". This is why KITT tried to take control when Micheal played chicken with KARR.
The new KITT should have similar programing and should willfully disobey orders that violate the 1st law. (i.e. he should have refused to reroute the power in the first episode since it endangered the passengers). This would make for great story telling!

Wow...lot of questions and some answers since I was here last. It would seem that most evreyone would like to see a tie back to the original series and it sounds like that may be in store. Looking forward to it.

I would have to repeat my question and it looks like others are asking it as well...what happened to the "one man can make a difference" premise. As we get into this show more, will the premise become more focused on that? My point is that is what made it Knight Rider. Without that, this show could/should have been an original concept and have been called something else. Just my opinion.

Hi. Here are my questions really.

How come kit has no digital instrumentation anymore? I like the 3D thing on the windshield but it seems a tadd bit off. Could you guys do something about that?

2. I noticed that the scanner looks like just a neon light glowing. How about having that effect with some LED's, only straight across.

3. Is Dave Hasselhoff gonna drive the new KITT. You know, just to make the audience nostalgic.

4. Can we lose the 4WD conversion to a truck thing. It just seems a bit too out there that KITT can turn into a truck. It's kinda like copying the transformers. How about having his wheels do a conversion where they get bigger and more off roadish?

Can there be some sort of animation before going to a commercial break? Like how the old series did it. That kinda kept me at my seat.

The opening credits, can you work on that? There needs to be more images of the car driving through the desert(bring back the pink desert too). ;)

Here's some stuff I'd like to see:

An improved voice modulator. The one that you guys got on the show now looks like something from star trek. No offence.

How about having Mike wear the black jacket a little more often? I know the heat's probably unbearable at times but you know...

Car chases. I'd like to see the new KITT ripping through the streets every once in a while.

Attack Mode. I like the conversion but, how about something mechanical, not too much flash yet sophisticated. We've all seen animated "change overs" like that in Viper. Again no offence.

Mike needs a comlink to go along with his earpiece. Let's see him call KITT by talking to his watch. :)

Narration in the opening credits: It doesn't have to be the same opening line "KNIGHT RIDER, a shadowy flight into the...." but how about getting a British guy to say some opening lines while the opening credits are rolling.

Sound effects. Turbo Boost needs a cool sound effect, something thrustful like a "BSSSSHHHHH" noise.

KITT needs a gull wing steering wheel or something just as cool, the fully rounded steering wheel makes him look like an ordinary car.

More sequences of KITT driving by himself should be shown.

Lose the plane, get a bigger truck to accomodate the mustang and stuff. It doesn't seem realistic that KITT and Mike are always close to an airport.

FINALLY, an ending fade out sequence where the car's driving through the desert(doesn't have to be like the old one) just something that will work.

I KNOW THAT MOST OF THESE SUGGESTIONS MAY NEVER COME ABOUT BUT I THOUGHT I'D VOICE MY OPINION.

Why did you change the original attack KITT. The new attack KITT is a P.O.S. for lack of better words. I'm a big KR fan...but this was a bad move.....you may want to change it back immediately

Oh..one more question. Is the back story of Mike's mother (killed in the pilot movie) going to be explored? I noticed her name was Jennifer...could this have been Jennifer Knight (Garth's sister) from the original series?

I am worried about this show getting canceled. What can I do as a fan of the show and a fan of your work to make sure that doesn't happen. NBC has canceled to many shows before they get their chance.

why did we change from the molecular bonded shell in the original show to the nano technology, it just seems that the new kitt is more vulnarable than the old one, if the computer is turned off then the new kitt can be destroyed, and does he have to be in attack mode to keep bullets and things from penetrating?

First, let me commend you on the recreation of Knight Rider. I was a huge fan of the original and I'm so glad someone had the guts to bring it back...now to the topic of my blog. There are a lot of people on here that are complaining that the show needs to be like the original...
Look folks, IT'S NOT THE ORIGINAL. The main character is MICHAEL TRACEUR, not Michael Knight. We are all so cught up in the fact that it's Knight Rider and not thinking out of the box. He is NOT going to be exactly like his father (thank goodness because he's way too hot!) and he has a more mysterious past, which adds a great deal of "Who is Mike Traceur" to the story line. People, we have to giive the show a chance and let them work out their own storyline for their characters. The original premise, "one man can make a difference" is not completely lost, but this is a whole new Knight Rider and they have a need to expand on what Wilton Knight wanted to accomplish. We all know that with all organizations that deal with the government, eventually they start moving in. I will agree on a few things though...like the CGI portion. I think it makes it more realistic to actually have shots of them DRIVING KITT, rather than background moving as if they are. That's one of the pieces of the original show that should be readapted, as well as the 18-wheeler. Honestly, the cargo plane is a bit much especially since we all know you can't land that thing everywhere. I give full kudos to the creators of this version and congratulate Dave Andron for the idea (even thought it wasn't just him, I have met his dad!) Keep up the good work!
BTW, it really isn't necessary to make KITT into a racer complete with neons. The whole concept of KITT is innovative enough and to really make him resemble the weapon/machine that he is, maybe make the additions to KITT more realistic as well (The transformation of KITT into a truck is a bit unbelieveable).

OK. AO lets talk. Ive noticed alot of questions about attack mode, KARR, the new KITT and Las Vegas. Attack mode runs faster than normal driving mode, but it is stronger and can withstand being blown off of a cliff and into the ocean. Also lets remember that this is a new show and a new storytelling method. This isnt Michael, KITT, and Devon. This is Mike, KITT, Billy, Sarah,, and the rest of the KITTCAVE crew. New modes, new learning abilities, new everything. though i would like to say that real time turbo boost would be nice. Also this show is meant to be fun and enjoyable and entertaining, not Batman Begins beiievable, but fun. Also KARR is going to come back and he should be a Charger or a Challenger. Plus as a final note i think that Mike and Danny from Vegas should know each other and Mike and KITT head to Vegas to deal with Garthe Knight's and Adrianne Margeaux's daughter and her new suped up GOLIATH. Please bring back a new high tech semi, where Michel nad KITT can be deployed to do their missions, and have both Charles and Sarah housed there with the necessary equipment to service and even retro fit KITT with new upgrades, what ever happened to Micheals black leater jacket,didn't he have one in the pilot movie. As i said before boeth versions of KITT need to have black rims, and while the new attack mode KITT is much better thann the first version, it needs to be lower and sleeker with a full black out treatment on the grill,rims,and lighs a sleeker more agressive wing and no more drag slicks. KITT is supposed to be HIGHTECH SUPER CAR not a (PINKS ALL-OUT Dragster)more realistic drinving and turbo boost with with less CGI,added sound effects just as the original and Micheal needs to have his old charm,charmisma,humor and emotion like his farter did.I still love the new show,good job overall hope you take and appriciate the comment and suggestions oa us the fans so that the next generation can have a new legacy to look back on. NBC, please disregard any comments made by "Victor Kros", also known as Nick Nugent, ex-Disney amusement park employee. He knows nothing about Knight Rider even though he has written a book on the subject. I know some people who have leafed through some pre-production copies of the book and they have said that the book was alright but there was information in it that was directly copied from the internet. Clearly, Mr. Nugent underestimated the intelligence of his audience by thinking he could pull a fast one and not write his own material, but steal from others. Couple that with Mr. Nugent's inexcusable conduct on various Knight Rider message boards (many of which he has been banned on) and it should be clear that he should have no involvement at all with any Knight Rider production, even an NBC sponsored Knight Rider lemonade stand. I encourage all of you reading this to carefully investigate Mr. Nugent before handing over your hard earned money for "his" book. Thank you.

And you have no idea how excited I am to hear KARR's gonna be back. Just please please promise me Peter Cullen's doing his voice. Karr's useless without him. Seriously. And that he's not a Mustang. Cause that would defeat his purpose, you can't have him be a 'stang prototype cause they wouldn't have 're-made' him after they got it right with Kitt. Anyway, I'm sure he'll be awesome anyway. Great post and I have to second your comments. I certainly hope that the powers that be on this show read this stuff. If this is Knight Rider, then it does need to be Michael and KITT with just supporting characters. In this version, Michael is kind of portrayed as a gopher. Everyone tells him what to do and he does it. At least in the original series, Michael was treated as an equal and important part of the team with ideas of his own. In this one, Sarah could just be the lead role and they don't even need Mike. Many people are saying the same thing...leave the team in the KITT Cave. Let KITT (by himself) come to the rescue as he is supposed to as Michael's partner.

This show could be fantastic with a little tweaking. Bring back the basic premise of one hero and his car making a difference in a world of criminals operating above the law. Support Michael and KITT with the team (at the KITT cave) and all the cool new technologies. Use updated stories to fit this era and I think it would be a hit. It would still appeal to the target audience while keeping us die hard original KR series fans happy as well. Tie into the original series where you can to explain what has happened to the original crew, FLAG, etc...and have some back for guest appearances if possible. I think everyone would be happy if this show stayed true to the original premise and idea of Knight Rider.

I have to say that Wilton Knight would be rolling over in his grave if he saw this. LOL.

The attack mode is more likely super pursuit mode when you are drive a fast car with the speed limit up to 100 miles or more than 100 miles.

I enjoyed many an episode; I’ve even tried to catch it in reruns on the Universal HD channels when I have time. While I know that GST may not want to hear this, I actually liked the 2 hour pilot movie made; it did capture what Knight Rider was about.
I have to agree with Richard Pinnell in his comments. I think the core of Knight Rider was that it was one man, using a machine in a modern world as a partner, could make a difference to individuals seeking FLAG’s help.
I’m not sure what you have cooked up for FLAG, Devon, Bonnie and the original storyline, so that may take care of some of these issues; however the idea of having a “team” with all these people seems to be really confusing to me. “Too many cooks in the kitchen” so to speak; there needs to be a clear definitive lead in all this; so far Justin Bruneing is doing well with what he’s been given, but to me he’s the clear lead. I like the Sarah character (Deanna Russo), but too often, she’s “usurping” the clear role that Mike should have in this. (Yes that may make me sound chauvinistic, but this is all about core of story, not do I think she’s capable). The viewers of this show are similar to the viewers of something like “24” in which Chloe has a significant role, but Jack’s role is never eclipsed by it. I feel like so far Sarah is “eclipsing” Mike; I don’t know if you have plans for that to change or not, but it’s something I noticed right off. With regards to Sydney or Yancey, I think one of them has to go, or at least fade more into the background, as it creates too much confusion. I think they do well with the characters they have.
I like the Billy character; a more nerd driven character works well as a good dynamic with Mike and Sarah. I think Zoe seems a bit out of place. I’m not sure this one works well.
I also noticed that at least the first few episodes deal with this overwhelming 9/11 Homeland Security global threat plot. While I think it’s topical and fresh, it strays too far away from what I believe is the heart of Knight Rider’s essential story was Michael Knight trying to help the lost, the innocent, the helpless, the powerless (yes I paraphrased). I understand that was the 80’s series, but it was that component that connected with audiences; which I don’t think is a “dated” concept. Global threats are good; just try to bring in more of what captured fans in the first place.
I know that doing a show like this, mad rampant fans like me are going to “chime in” on what they think should happen; I’m not wanting to be an “armchair quarterback”; you guys are the ones doing this show. I think all the fans would like to see this succeed where others might have failed in conception.

I have to agree with Richard Pinnell in his comments. I think the core of Knight Rider was that it was one man, using a machine in a modern world as a partner, could make a difference to individuals seeking FLAG’s help.
I’m not sure what you have cooked up for FLAG, Devon, Bonnie and the original storyline, so that may take care of some of these issues; however the idea of having a “team” with all these people seems to be really confusing to me. “Too many cooks in the kitchen” so to speak; there needs to be a clear definitive lead in all this; so far Justin Bruneing is doing well with what he’s been given, but to me he’s the clear lead. I like the Sarah character (Deanna Russo), but too often, she’s “usurping” the clear role that Mike should have in this. (Yes that may make me sound chauvinistic, but this is all about core of story, not do I think she’s capable). The viewers of this show are similar to the viewers of something like “24” in which Chloe has a significant role, but Jack’s role is never eclipsed by it. I feel like so far Sarah is “eclipsing” Mike; I don’t know if you have plans for that to change or not, but it’s something I noticed right off. With regards to Sydney or Yancey, I think one of them has to go, or at least fade more into the background, as it creates too much confusion. I think they do well with the characters they have.
I like the Billy character; a more nerd driven character works well as a good dynamic with Mike and Sarah. I think Zoe seems a bit out of place. I’m not sure this one works well.
I also noticed that at least the first few episodes deal with this overwhelming 9/11 Homeland Security global threat plot. While I think it’s topical and fresh, it strays too far away from what I believe is the heart of Knight Rider’s essential story was Michael Knight trying to help the lost, the innocent, the helpless, the powerless (yes I paraphrased). I understand that was the 80’s series, but it was that component that connected with audiences; which I don’t think is a “dated” concept. Global threats are good; just try to bring in more of what captured fans in the first place.
I know that doing a show like this, mad rampant fans like me are going to “chime in” on what they think should happen; I’m not wanting to be an “armchair quarterback”; you guys are the ones doing this show. I think all the fans would like to see this succeed where others might have failed in conception.

I like the new KITT, but compared to his predecessor, he seems a bit... robotic. I mean, in the old series, KITT and Michael joke around very naturally, but it seems that the new KITT doesn't joke around very much or interact naturally with Mike and Sarah. I have a question, what do you think of reducing the number of episodes of 22 to 17?
Is it to put the series in order for Season 2, or NBC do more to the success of the serie, if so for what reason? The fans you express it hundreds of times what they were waiting, why not have them listen? Hoping that 10 to 17 episodes save the serie! Dear Writers, I think you guys have started back on the right track with Knight Rider by bringing back the Knight foundation and F.L.A.G and some of the elements of the original series to make this truly a continuation of the original so, and the "One Man can make a difference" not team. However there is still alot of humanity and real life situations left out, things that could really happen in the real world to K.I.T.T For example: the writers could write scenes where Michael's parked in a bad neighborhood and some kids spray paint K.I.T.T and then K.I.T.T uses his nano technology to clean off which surprises and scares the kids but is humorous to K.I.T.T or have Micheal fall asleep driving K.I.T.T takes over and then a family sees this and reacts or a police officer sees this and pulls him over in disbelief and gives him a ticket. Lastly, while Micheals in a convience store buying a rockstar some thugs try to steal K.I.T.T.s stereo or what they think is a stereo and K.I.T.T locks 'em in takes them for the scare of their life and ejects them out or drops 'em off at a police station. Just some suggestions to bring the show into the real world and not a James Bond fantasy. That's the kind of sublte humor the origianl had, not the corny humor of Zoe making jokes on Billy or vice versa.
