Don't listen to me, I'm crazy! Then again, I might just be crazy enough to need to be listened to, hmm...

I've read in interviews from before the series premiere that you went back and watched the first season of the original series before writing anything. Have you (and hopefully the writers too) watched the rest of the series yet? If so, what would you consider to be your favorite episodes of the original series?

is it true that David Hasselhoff will not be coming back to guest star?

I would just like to express my thanks for answering some of the questions I posted.

While I realize your responses have to be limited for the sake of not spoiling future plotlines, at least it offers some glimmer of hope we'll see this new KITT in more action akin to the original series.

Will we see effects more along the lines of the backdoor pilot like the "eggshell" cracking armor that healed itself from bullets and the color shifting?

Of all the things in the backdoor pilot, those two effects to me were the most visually exciting. I'd say the opening sequence of the backdoor pilot was very successful in grabbing my attention and proving the near-invincible nature of the car.

Here's hoping we see this new KITT smash through some walls, leap over some cars in realtime and most importantly of all prove to audiences new and old that this new KITT truly is a near-invulnerable car of the future.

One note I must stress, make the "Hero KITT" more prominant then the Attack Mode KITT.

Even in the original series, hero KITT was infinately more interesting (and believable) then Super Pursuit Mode KITT which could only really drive faster.

There should be a balance between the two different KITT "forms".

I wish you well and we'll see how things turn out in the road ahead. Congrats on your full season pick-up, now it's your mission to make it count.

I just hope that the original Michael Knight and KI2T make an appearance and a nice arc story for the original MK to have. I remember hearing about negotiations but hopefully we will get to see him! I also hope that you get the film at the Mansion in Pasadena, CA! Can’t wait to see how Devon, Bonnie, and of course FLAG is going to get its presence in the show!

Can you address what happened to the Molecular Bonded Shell (aka Knight Formula) and why it's no longer used?

In your personal opinion what is stronger? The MBS or the nano-tech armor?

Hello, Mr GST! Greetings from Poland! There are many fans of Knight Rider and we are very happy that the KR is back. Really good job!
But many of polish fans (at polish service about KR - www.knight-rider.pl ) are thinking about the Hoff and the good ol' KITT. Is there any chance to see Michael Knight Sr and KITT (Trans-Am) in new series?

I like to think that the Molecular Bonded Shell of the Knight 2000 is superior in "static" strength to the Knight 3000, but the nanoskin allows the Knight 3000 to transform, change color, (I'd guess become "cloaked")--all kinds of things the Knight 2000 never could do. So, you trade off some strength for adaptability.

I'd also guess that the Knight 3000's nanoskin is bonded by electrical charge controlled by KITT, so by diverting more power to the "frame" of the vehicle, the Knight 3000 can probably crash through most things the Knight 2000 could.

I'd also imagine that the Knight 3000 isn't really a car in the traditional sense, but a collection of nanotech molecules that can be arranged into any frame shape given the right program. I assume some things, like the engine, powertrain, KITT's CPU, storage container for the nanotech molecules (perhaps that hideous diamond plate box in Attack mode), are not nanotech at all. I still struggle to understand how the interior changes around its passengers without any harm coming to them.

I seriously think some scientific explanations like above could make this show far more beliveable. Unfortunately the "mechanical" style of the transformations might look cool, but they just don't seem to fit any believable "science."

This episode rocked! I've been very critical of the episodes thus far, but tonight I really enjoyed the show. Here are my own personal highs:

1. Reduced green screen scenes
2. MK and KITT are bonding
3. This episode didnt feature too many transformations which make it really beleivable
4. Was it me or were the corny lines reduced and more dramatic dialogue took place between the main characters?
5. Swagger! MK looks like he's getting that ole HOFF charm.

Great episode. I hope all the others to follow continue down this path... I particularly loved when KITTS high speed mode kicked in late.. that was awesome!

To the poster with the MBS question, remember Elizabeth Knight killed the Dr. with 1/3 of the formula to the MBS. OOhh sorry, because in continuity that would not explain the Knight 2000 getting remade by RC3 and the gang in the 4th. My bad.

I would love to see the new car get destroyed and bring in both Patricia McPherson and Rebecca Holden as the techs who rebuild the KI3T. but leave that surprise for the end of the episode. "Who made it look like Darth Vader's Bathroom?!" "We recruited the skills of...." Just like MK1 in the KR2000 movie, MK couldn't resist putting the scaner on the KI4T. Could Bonnie or April resist a K.I.T.T. style voice modulator or new dash incorporating the voice globe? Just a novel idea to toss 'round.

Would love to see the main KI3T cave doors open and have them walk out, or use them in your possible idea of a mobile semi unit.

Hey! I am 32 and grew up on KR, and while initially I admit I was sickened at the thought of KITT being a Mustang, the 2 hour commercial for Ford....I mean the Pilot...aroused my interest greatly, and the series is only getting better. I like how KITT's A.I. is learning much as the first did, and the subtle nods to the original series are appreciated, such as having Mike reading the KITT manual and watching TV going down the road. Val Kilmer is a top shelf impeccable actor, and his performance is perfectly matched to the new KITT. I will absolutely be buying the new series on DVD.

Only a couple thorns which are already too late to "fix", but just one lifelong fans' opinion:

1. KITT turning into a truck is logistically and thematically retarded. It comes across as a ploy to plug another Ford product.

2. While the show gratefully acknowledges the former series, I would seriously get into a little more onscreen and in character revisiting the former KITT, Devon and Bonnie(Patricia Macpherson could even be coaxed out of acting retirement by possibly advertising her Charities)...and of course, The Hoff.

3. KARR?

4. A meeting of the old and the new, and an onscreen handling of "Where did the Knight 2000 go?".

As stated, my gripes are small, and my enjoyment big. I haven't watched network TV in years, and I think you guys are doing a great job. Thank you for not ruining Knight Rider.

For the person who mentioned that one of the Dr's who had part of the formula was killed. 3 people had 2 different parts of the formula, that way any two of them could make the MBS. so if one was killed, the other two could still make the MBS.

This Series is being Based after the original series. So does that mean the KI4T didnt happen and Devon did not die?

Will we see more missions with just Mike and K.I.T.T. without Sara, or Zoe or Billy? The original series was based around one man and his car. This series we see someone tagging along with Mike. Will he be on his own anytime soon?

Well first, that whole transforming thing, Really Stupid and corny as hell…I mean Common on…but anyways, here is my question, “Are you going to get rid of the lead actor (Who ever that is), Justin Bruening with a Real Actor?

…. Because you guys have a chance to create a Great TV show and this guy, Bad Choice, You need an Actor, one that can fit this part without question. Hell, go beyond that and choose a woman instead of a guy, it worked for Star Trek. I really wish you used that girl that played on KNIGHT 2000; she would have made a Great Choice.

Great Job on the series so far, but I have just one question, is it really neccessary to have so many characters? I mean several of them are totally redundant, Sarah can fix KITT, but then so can Billy and Dr. Graiman, Zoe does basically nothing, and she's useless since I'm sure KITT can speak more languages than she can, and then Carrie and the head Boss guy fill similar roles, the Original series did just fine with just Bonnie, Devon and Michael, is there a chance of any cast thinning in the future? since there seems to not have been a Ep since the first where all the characters are in the same Ep, Carrie's either mentioned as off somewhere, or Dr. Graiman, or both, which I think proves you don't need so many Characters

And for the love of KITT, steer completely clear of Knight Rider 2000 and especially Team Knight Rider.

And Jennifer Knight would not make any sense in being Mike's mother what so ever. She showed up in the Season Four premiere (well after Mike would have been born) talking about how every time she saw Michael she saw her brother Garthe (who should remain dead though a bastard child or two wouldn't be surprising). Not to mention how creepy that would be. Mike's mother would be one of Michael Knight's many off camera "lady friends".

That's not to say the show is perfect or anything, far from it but hopefully adjustments will be made and it will improve all around. Now if only this comment box displayed properly in Fire Fox....

Visually, I still don't care for the Attack Mode that much, when's that huge spoiler going to do something functional Gary? I know you guys don't have that big of a budget (or at least I don't think you guys do) but I think something needs to be done with it. The blower/intake/whatever, if it really needs to be there then it would look so much better if it were black, same goes for those pizza pan wheels. I can live with it until the time comes when it's changed (hopefully with the input of someone better than Harald "I designed the Batman and Robin Batmobile, Cat in the Hat car" Belker and I'm still wishing for something, anything to be done with the dash and removal of that steering wheel, I guess I can understand the lack of functionality of the gullwing styled wheel or the half one from the backdoor pilot but but just a little modifying of the interior couldn't hurt could it? Or is that a no no decreed by Ford? Voice commands are going to get annoying and is lacking in excitement that a simple button press provides, I get the whole "inconspicuous" idea but damn.

On the writing side it's been a mixed bag so far but that's okay, I know everyone is still trying to basically figure everything out and find a balance, hopefully the pacing improves too. I'm in line to think there are just too many characters as well, hopefully some eventually get the boot. First I was in favor of Zoe and Torres but now I'd miss seeing Smith Cho on my TV screen. So I'd go with the government "agents" Ravai and Torres.

The official description for what's currently the November 19th episode (Knight of the Zodiac) sounds rather interesting at least one aspect of it. Hope that is what I think it is.

Hey GST, I was just wondering how long dose it take to make a episode of Knight Rider, and what are the steps to make a epises.

After watching Knight of the Hunter, it raised another important question to address.

What is the difference between "nanotech armor" and "nano shields"?

Is this why bullets don't seem to actually hit KITT? How come they hit (and crack) the windows? Are the bullets hitting the windshield actually impacting into the nano shields itself and we're seeing it damage it from behind/within them? (like looking at bullets hitting bulletproof glass head on while standing on the other side of the shooter)

Is this why in A Hard Day's Knight, a 50cal machine gun couldn't damage KITT's body? Were the bullets just hitting the nano shields and not the body itself?

We really need some solid answers on how exactly this new KITT is near-invulnerable and what specifically makes the car near impervious to damage and you're the only guy who can shed some light on it.

I would like to see some consistant weaknesses that don't involve specialized weaponry or mid-transformation failures.

I want to see the armor itself threatened by damage, not some shields, not some internal malfunction. There is no substitute for the thrill of seeing bullets sparking off the original KITT's sleek body in a shower of chaotic beauty.

Why can't you do this effect with the Mustang?

When bullets bounced off the MBS, we believed that KITT was near invulnerable and that bullets wouldn't be enough to take our KITT down.

It took a specialized situation to seriously damage the MBS. Thus far we've seen KITT break down more from negligence then anything else.

I want to be convinced the armor itself is impervious or special. If it's just a shield protecting the body of the car that doesn't make the car body itself as impressive as it was in the backdoor pilot.

I believe fans new and old would be more inclined to sit back and enjoy the show if there was more substance invested on explaining how the technology of KITT's armor works rather then having to continue to suspend disbelief and come up with more questions then answers.

It's FLAG, Foundation of Law And Government, not For. Apparently the writers of TKR didn't know that. Actually, watch TKR (is is on Hulu after all) and get a good example of what NOT to do.

I just want to say that I'm thrilled that NBC is picking the show up for the whole season! That's a big positive step! Here's hoping they'll want a Season 2+!!

I also want to say that the more I watch this show, the more it feels like I'm watching an updated version of the original series...which is just what it's supposed to be! I was a bit apprehensive when I heard that a new series was being produced, after so many previous failed incarnations (KR2000 movie, KR2010 movie, and Team Knight Rider.) But after watching several episodes so far, I'm loving this show more and more. Each episode makes it more dear to my heart, and I feel it's holding it's own quite nicely.

What happened to Team Knight Rider anyway? Are any of those story-lines incorporated or are going to be incorporated into this new series?

One more thing...I want to see KARR come back so badly!!! He was my second favorite character of the original KR series, after KITT.

I do love the show, I plan to keep watching (and re-watching online and talking about it with friends), and I'm SO glad to hear you've been picked up for the rest of the season!

If you take the feedback on this blog seriously in any way, please, please let me go on record as saying you should downplay or completely drop the Mike/Sarah relationship. It's not that I doubt they love each other-- I'm sure they do!-- it's that they've both changed since he went overseas, they no longer seem to suit each other (certainly they don't have any chemistry or romantic tension, and never have), and poor oversexed Mike with his swiss-cheesed memory, who doesn't voluntarily touch anybody he doesn't trust with his life or want to have sex with, is just not in a good place for a long-term relationship. (I mean it about the touching thing-- but I also like it, it adds a layer of realism to his character. He's a very insular person.)

Sarah has MUCH better chemistry with Billy, honestly. They seemed a lot more comfortable together in their one scene in Iguana than Sarah and Mike ever have, and her reassuring him was sweet.

(And please tell Deanna Russo to stop squinting. It's not sexy at all.)

Hi Gary, I know you're a fan of Torchwood but how much of an influence does the show have on Knight Rider? There are a lot of similarities between the two :)

While I am really enjoying KITTs ability to transform into other vehicles as the situation necessitates, I worry about how this technology will evolve in the series over time. Do the writers have limits in place for KITTs transformation technology? IE he can transform into a vehicle but not a refrigerator or a giant walking robot. The later I think gets you too much into Transformers territory, as KR is always about cars and straying too far from that will burn alot of fans.

What is the name of the love song in the last ssene of episode 5 (when Mike say "Happy birthday" to Sarah). I love it so much. !!

The only things I can suggest are please replace Kitts laser snow globe eye module it hurts my eyes, it's like looking at a camera flash.Also Kitt gets hurt to easy he is an advanced car he shouldn't get damaged easily. I think at the end of the season Kitt should be destroyed like in the old show and redesigned, with attach mode changed to pursuit mode & no lazer snow globe kitt eye and put more button inside for Mike to push instead of the i-pod windshield all the time, thank you for reading this message.

Your storyline makes no sence, first Kitt was a Firebird, Now Kitt is a Mustang, Karr was a Firebird, Karr was utterly and Completely Destroyed in a Head-to-Head Battle between Kitt and Karr. this makes no sence, Why would You even concider bringing back what was destroyed on that beachfront? and I never got to see Katt, so i don't know what it looked like, however now that Kitt has been transformed into another vehicle, this Kitt's abilities far outweigh the upgrades that the former Kitt had, but why the mystery around michael's past? Does Michael have nanotech in his body that receives programming from Kitt when michael makes contact with Kitt's outer shell or did FLAG somehow find a way to blank out ceertain memories while Michael was in debriefing before transition to becomming Michael Tracuer?

It makes no sense that Charles would let the mistake with KARR happen again even if he wasn't involved with KARR and didn't come onboard until after the failure of the Knight Automated Roving Robot, though I got that this time the AI apparently "learned" self preservation, it still makes no sense... Even for something being made for the military. I really hope you watched KITT vs KARR and something is going to be picked up from there. Why even use that name when the apparent initials would be something like KARCES or whatever. Even as something for shorting it, like a nickname. It seems more like a "F.U." To those of us that were fans of the original series.

Oh and yes, KARCES = Carcass... Cute but still.... Taunting us isn't nice. =(

Okay, just to post yet another comment, having rewatched the scene instead of what someone else said (KARCES) I got Knight Auto-Cybernetic Roving Robotic Exoskeleton, KARRE? O_o Looking again at the designs that were shown, why couldn't a shape similar to the Trans-AM be used to at least try to keep it in line with it potentially being the original KARR's CPU that is the "brain" behind this? Instead of what looks like the Mustang. I'd let the name change pass for the project but why reuse the KARR name in this way other than to throw us a bone and then take the bone and what seems like taunting us? I could see maybe the original KARR being classified but this isn't making sense for a show that's supposedly a continuation of the original series.

But still, I guess Charles isn't smart enough to know what happened with the original KARR being primarily programed for self preservation, even if it was for the military. So it's like you guys are recycling or "updating" ideas and putting a spin on them and not in a good way.

I really do hope episode 13 clears this up... Maybe it will have some interesting twists (since this looks to tie in with Mike's past) that make this a good story, maybe it is the original KARR AI Unit (without the memories since his memory banks would have been destroyed) or based off it though still once again having "self preservation" as a primary directive seems rather stupid, especially since there's no reason Charles shouldn't know about KARR and using that name is just too out there to be a coincedence. Did the military make him do this? Is the miliary that stupid? There is no need for KARR as a Trans-Am to show up since he was destroyed or is Charles really that dense? Still annoying to see the Mustang shape instead of just using something that looks like the Trans-Am.

I really do hope that was meant to at least a partial opening, you should know GST since you wrote it. That along with the potential history with Mike... It was nice to have more KITT time and a bit of character development.

Shouldn't that have been upload (when Mike says to stop the download) on Mike and Sarah's end since they were sending KITT's files to the SSC? Or I guess it could be played as cutting of the SSC's download of the files if they were trying to access from there.

I need to watch it again instead of scanning through it.

This is ridiculous because KARR is now some crazy exoskeleton thing and not the original, What the hell ever happened to the 3 cars in Graimain's garage besides KI2T in pieces. BTW I hope you guys explain the KI2T and hopefully KI3T acknowledges him because Sarah & Mike thought he was one of a kind which is wrong, stupid, and irrelevant because in the pilot Graimain specifically said "There was another KITT in another time" and "your father drove the first KITT". I have a feeling you producers are more towards recreating mythoogy rather than acknowledgeing and respecting the past. I suggest you guys watch the entire series before "TRYING TO CONTINUE" this series.

I just wanted to leave my remarks here on the blog; maybe some of the writers will take notice. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only fan of the new show who feels this way.

As a fan of the original series, I watched the TV movie from curiosity more than anything. There were many aspects of it I loved, and others I could not stand. Once the show got picked up, that viewpoint held true, but thankfully the objectionable stuff has become less prevalent with each episode.

I think the cast does an excellent job overall; I especially enjoy Justin, Deanna, and Bruce's characters. They serve as the "core" relationships in many respects. The action is superb, and the storylines are exciting and fast-paced, for the most part. Plus, the new KITT rocks like crazy, especially with Val Kilmer as the voice.

My only real objections have remaind the same since the TV movie: skin and sex. In the telefilm, Carrie Ravai was depicted as a lesbian (there's been no further mention of that, thank God), and Mike wakes up in bed with two women...horndog much?!

As for the series, the first few episodes seemed to be filled with excuses for characters to take their clothes off...

1) KITT gets nuked by a missile; OK, strip!

2) There's a beach, so let's have Mike stare at a bikini-clad woman on KITT's dash.

3) Zoe gets drunk and passes out (presumably) naked.

4) Mike and another woman jump off a cliff into a river; aftrwards, they share body heat to avoid hypothermia.

5) Mike and Sarah make out heavily on KITT's hood at one point.

Scenes like these are tasteless and unnecessary. In my opinion, the episodes could omit many of them, and still maintain a very entertaining narrative. The fewer of these moments. the better, as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise; keep up the good work! =)

Attn: Mr. Thompson, I wanted to drop a line on scene I think would be awesome in your show. A way to bridge the gap between the new and original shows.

While in the lab snooping for information on his forgotten military career, Michael opens charles's safe and notices a video tape labeled Kitt. ( we could say the same one from charriots of gold) and Michael takes the tape and plays it. He is checking out the Kitt 2000. Watching the tape (we see some flashbacks of the movie of him talking with his dad. He has a very curious nature about this car

When Mike is done watching the tape he heads to the labatory where the Kitt and the dismantled cars were in the movie. The garage is darkened and he turns on the lights. He notices Kitt with a car cover over him. He pulls the cover off and walks fully around the car. The doors are locked and the windows are darkened making it hard to see inside. He rubs the MBS and is amazed at home smooth it still is, and says "wow.... it feels like baby's skin...."

Mike: So you was state of the art huh? Must have been a long time ago. Maybe one day I'll see what you can do.

Just then Sara walks in and looks suprised to see Mike in the off limits area.
Sara: Mike what are you doing in here? This area is off limits!
Mike: Uhhh... I was just checking out some American muscle.
Sara: well you need to get out of here. If my dad knew you was in here he would kill you!
Mike: What do you know about this thing?
Sara: Not much. that was before my time.
Mike: I've heard some stories...
Sara: C'mon Mike let's go get some lunch.
Mike: How about a burger and some fries (his dad's favorite meal)
Sara: Uhhhghhh.... Some things never change!!!
Mike: aight.... We'll talk later, see ya later buddy.... Mike Walks away sliding his hand down kitt's side as he walks away.

Mike then turns off the lights and closes the door

As Mike walks out the door we are shown the front of Kitt and we see his scanner light up with the slow fade effect as if he is waking up from a long sleep.

That's not going to happen, even if it could, legally they wouldn't even bother taking the risk.

Everyone is asking if David Hasselhoff will be guest starring and you have answered that you are working on it. Are you planning on or have you approached William Daniels to reprise his voice of the original KITT (or just his AI)?

Personally, while I'd like to see Hasselhoff make a special appearance every once in awhile, I dunno if I'd want to see him every week.

There is some big news from the Hollywood Reporter site about the direction of the show. On one hand I'm not surprised but on the other I am a tiny bit disappointed, specifically with one of the coming changes and what the outcome may be. If you don't want to be spoiled, I'd suggest not reading it, there's no story specific spoilers but with what is said in the article, I think it's quite obvious. I'm not providing a link, you should be able to find it easily enough.

I said it already in the most recent entry but I think it requires a little repeating here too.

Having just watched Trust Doesn't Rust again I think I get where you got the "cybernetic" thing from as KARR mentions his need to be repaired and that he needed a cybernetic technician which in this case was Bonnie so car and in turn KITT would have had some cybernetics, though obviously not of a biological sense as it covers a wide, wide range of areas, including robotics, which is obviously what you're getting at. Though stating KARR by the time he was last decommissioned was more cyborg than machine or however that went, I think I might see where you are going with this idea as a cyborg doesn't necessarily mean KARR became some human/robot hybrid or anything like a terminator, though I could see a certain test subject having some sort of implant to integrate himself closer to a machine counterpart, as a part of a military vehicle in the way the military was at one point looking into exploring and probably still are. Still, even an implant or anything isn't needed but whatever. I am curious where this will be going... Hopefully it won't disappoint.

Maybe we're a little too hard on you Gary, after all you are still at the mercy of the drunken monkeys in charge of NBC and are basically a middle man.

GST, I think Burce Davidson sgiykd stat ib tge series, since he knows more about KITT and I Think the person that plays Alex should stay, but the Person that plays the FBI agent should leave. Here is another suggestion you should do somemore episodes about mix up the episodes like do some orginial Knight Riders stuff and do some new Knight Rider stuff. What I read in the hollywood reporter is that they are saying the series is kind of getting a reboot, I was wondering is KITT still going to Transform in the Series or not after the changes are made?

I don't know if my first comment got on here. But I wanted to say the show has not let me down. And I hope the networks listen to Knight Riders new and old fans. And Hoping that the decision to end the show will change. Because it is good to see a show that lasted several seasons back for a whole new generation to enjoy. So NBC I think you should change your mind about the decision you made to end it. Yours Truly,

In the future episodes, please take the cussing out of the script. The original was a huge success with very little of that! We enjoy watching things WITH our children, and we have chosen for many years NOT to watch anything on network TV because of it. PLEASE allow Knight Rider to be a family fun show like in the "old days".
