save the cheerleader, save the world. So saving this cheerleader would save
Mr. Isack? Even though he/I will/was very cryptic he/I should've not
interacted with someone from my current timeline. I'm disappointed. He/I
should've known/should know the negative ramifications of time travel.

3) What kind of sword?

I have a sword in the future! (^o^)==[=============>
Is it a broadsword? A machete? A katana? If I know myself, I'd choose a
katana. I wonder if it's magical. +4 to dexterity? I guess my character
breakdown would be:

Hiro (Future)
STR: 14 (I'm going to have to work out more to get this)
DEX: 18 (with +4 modifier) (ditto as above)
CON: 12
INT: 18 (I can use magic)
WIS: 17 (I survive till the future so I have to be wise (^o^))

AC: -1 (I would think that I would be wearing lighter gear, but get AC

Since it's not a video game, I'm going old school abilities (^o^) I hope
the translator translates it accurately.

The biggest question I have is am I a real hero? I cowardly hid while
someone was being killed. My fingers was on L1 + R1 the whole time. I know
a do-over is possible, but I also know it's risky to mess with the
time-space continuum. What makes a hero? I got these powers for a reason.
It's destiny.

I question my heroism right now, and I hope I find my answer soon. Off to
New York!

Oh! Why didn't I find this earlier? I love the first ed. D&D stats. I'd say you're a psionic, but Time Stop is a ninth level wizard spell... but you can't use any of the other spells, and mages definitely aren't proficient with katanas (especially in first edition)... that's a tough one.

And I prevaricate on alignment. You do adhere to a personal code of ethics (LG) but you're also actively trying to take down the government (CG)... hm. Maybe we can just split the difference and call you NG?

What that waitress told you was true, i hope it built your confidence. And i'm sorry you had to learn the hard way that you couldn't save her or change the past.

I'm hardly an expert on hereos. But, I think you're on the right track. Of all the heroes you're encountering , your background in the traditional manga may have taught you more than you give yourself credit for. I like that you are honorable and "stick to your guns" as we in America say. Meaning, you stand up for what you believe in.

And on a lighter note, yes many of us here in the US do watch Miyazaki films. We are a bit angry that Disney got the deal for the domestic distribution rights, fearing they will somehow alter the original meaning through releasing only dubbed versions. But I think Miyazaki was smart enough to make a clause that no one could change the orignal content. So die hard fans like me, can watch sub-titled versions of his masterpieces. I'd rather watch a Miyazaki work raw, no subtitles than a dub. I'm that much of a snob.

Not to slam my own country's voice actors, but even the best of them can't line up rhetoric that makes sense with the movements of the original animated character's mouths. Dubs just come off bad. Whiners who can't read and watch at the same time should practice. Its not that hard.

Now we just have to buy them all before Disney locks them away in thier vault for 17 years or however long, before releasing them again--however that marketing scheme goes.

BTW, which Miyazaki film is your favorite, Hiro? Its a hard decision to pick one, for me at least. I loved "Hime Mononoke" but "Totoro" is such a classic and then came Howl and his Castle. Miyazaki is just too good to pick one! Its like asking me to pick my favorite Star Wars movie.

On the subject of Miyazaki, is there manga for any of his stuff? I used to do the US convention circuits, but can't now due to my health.

How are you feeding your anime fix in between being a hero? or do you even have time? It was pretty cool that some of Isaac's art including that Comic book you stole earlier on, was done in the manga style.

Oh well, I'll quit harrassing you with my anime addiction. You have more important things to do like saving the world.

hmmm...well, most people seem to be saying you need a high dex to wield a katana but if any of them remember correctly a katana is considered an exotic weapon that counts as a masterwork sword...the one thing i can not remember is if it is a great sword or a long sword...therin a katana with a bonus to dex would be slightly useless...your jacket would provide the dex bonus while your katana would probabally have an added damage bonous under a time magic category...probabally like an aging spell so that they become more decrepit and frail...i see your fututre stats more along the lines of:

Hiro Lv.1
Str: 13 +1
Dex: 16 +3
Con: 12 +1
Int: 17 +3
Wis: 13 +1
Cha: 13 +1

AC: 15

Alignment: Chaotic Good

i say choatic good mainly because if lawful good you would have to have had ando arrested for what he tried to have you do...These stats are also when you first start off...as you gain experience and through time your abilities will raise, so will your talents...good luck with being a hero...

You should not view yourself cowardly for staying out of the way during a murder. You're better off still alive than to risk being killed trying to save people who intended you harm. Try to avoid moving backward in time. If you must freeze time, do it only when necessary, because eventually time catches up with you and could age you prematurely.
Whatever happens, trust your intincts. It's a learning process and nothing good can come from knowing TOO much about your future for risk of inadvertantly altering it and thus causing a temporal rift even your future self can't fix.

Hiro, you should aim for even numbers in the ability scores or you won't get the modifier bonuses. unless you are using them to fulfill skill requirements. Get some haste gear with DR, put some points in UMD and you'll be able to take on the baddest villains. I'm rooting for you.

Rooth: Hiro is probably using the original and far superior Kensai rules in the 2nd Edition Oriental Adventures book, which would also explain why he's got such a good AC. (start at 10, subtract Dex bonus, subtract actual armor value which is probably leather or studded leather if any. I think the Kensei get their Wis as an additional AC boost, but I haven't got the book here at work)

I was just pondering some things. If you are Chrono searching for Marle and Lucca, perhaps Ando's internet stripper is Ayla? She has powers, though she is much more combat ready than Marle or Lucca. And still, if you are Chrono, you have to remember that Chrono gets put out of commission for a short time and must be brought back with the Egg of Time. Be careful Hiro, you don't want to be out of the game so soon. If future Hiro can find Peter easily, then present Hiro should start practicing that. Increase your Teleport spell. Then you could just teleport the party to New York. \^o^/

Nevermind, remembered that L1+R1 is the "flee" command in the FF series.

Is L1+R1 specifically a FF reference in this case (not as familiar with VII as I am with later ones and earlier ones)? I mean L1+R1 presses your character's face to the vent when hiding in a locker in "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty" as well as more or less doing the same in MGS3.

I'm all with Ekia. Yeah, there should be someone with telekenisis there. I don't know why but people seem to neglect that power when it comes to superheroes. I haven't seen it used with a hero in a while now. Or am I missing something??

Heya Hiro. Didn't see much of you this go, but when you did make an appearence it was as yummy as always.

As for the boy I am thinkng he may have telemachanics. I don't know if any of you guys play the RP table top system Rifts, but Heroes isn't like a video game to me it's more like playing a rifts adventure.

I think Hiro may not have to change his watch so much cause he has a hidden power called, "sense time" Yet another rifts power!! So, he knows once he stops and restarts time the actuall time. =p.

I think the only thing you guys are missing is a Hero with Telekenisis. You guys are going to need someone that can through up a sheild of shorts, and move stuff around with just the power of their mind!

HIRO! Just one question- Isn't it a pain to have to keep fixing your watch? It seems that since your watch is so close to you that when you stop time your watch keeps going... so every time you stop time (you mentioned it was a short amount of time but I guess it would add up) wouldn't you have to reset it? I was disappointed with this past episode. I figured the Kid was either super intelligent or could repair damaged electronics. I'm sure there are new heroes. But now bring on some mission or a Hall of Justice. I don't like Peter's brother, I get it he only cares about the election. I just want to crack him across the face. Hiro is the best and this series is like lost but with super Hereos. Keep up the good work but come one.....Everyone form into a team already.

Just a thought, but I have given serious attention to future you traveling backward in time to warn Peter to save the cheerleader. Suppose that future Hiro's reason for this trip was a do-over? In ohter words, the explosion occured and New York was laid waste. Future Hiro, out of options, might just return to the past and warn a key player about a crucial event that must be fulfilled for everything to right itself. Food for thought, I think.

THATS AWESOME HERO, I got your Dungeons and Dragons reference. I to have played a Kensei, and being a dungeons and dragons fan, I suggest you take Power Finesse feat if your going use a katana with that Dex. ^_^ Just a 3.5 update for ya. Second, I think you could also find Improved weapon finesse, so you can get your Dexterity in to your damage rather then your strength mod. ^_~ But I think you have a +6 level adjustment for being able to stop time. But I guess if you're using BESM D20 rules you just spent a lot of character points to get that cool ability. Have you tested yourself to see how long you can stop time for? Oh and one more question if I may, when you stop time completely, does it stop the whole world, or just what is around you? Anyways keep up the good fight Hiro. Oh and just one more, I think it would be funny if you said "Oro" once. ^_^

If any of you watch Criss Angel, you may have seen some show where he debunks psychic surgery, but do the people believe they are healed, and in that belief heal themselves from various sicknesses? Does the power of one's faith have the ability to change your future? And what about the faith healer?

Once there was a child, who believed very heavily in God, and followed the ways of the church and began to question verses about healing; and miracles; and as any child asked can this happen this today? And some in the various churches believed that miracles were possible, and yet others believed that was the only true sign that you were saved. And yet, one day when a certain child prayed for another child with asthma and that person miraculously no longer need the medications. That same child became an antihero and a hero at the same time. That power that healed the sick, became the hysteria of the masses. And led to the child being tormented by peers; and led to question whether the power was from the divine or from the evil side of life. And those same people who praised the boy, tormented the boy with ideas that the power could not have been from the good, that it must've been some kind of witchcraft. Were his speeches the word of faith or the mark of the devil? Would that boy, if let to do so believe more and be able to accomplish more if his peers believed he was good? Isn't there a phrase somewhere about the end times being like the time of moses, which could be construed as a time similar to this? Something about, faith as small as a mustard seed? Perhaps these were all children's fairy tales, or perhaps not.

I do that sometimeed too; thinking about life like a video game, its not a bad thing (I hope :P). It's like when you're surrounded by a swarm of mosquitos: Randon battle! Or sometimes if you get lost somewhere you could really use a map screne. And not just a normal map, but one that has a little flashing arrow that shows where you are on the map :P ...Also after playing a Mega Man Legends game (old PS1 game) I really felt like kicking a pop machine ^_^;;

Let me repeat and paraphrase the sentiments of the many posters before me by saying that I think you're doing fine.

You're a true hero precisely because you are uncertain of your own heroism.

I think you should do your best to remain vigiliant and cautious though--I have a feeling the Hiro-from-the-future is from a specific [i]version[/i] of the future where you unfortunately [i]failed[/i] in your quest. IMHO, that future version of yourself came back to warn your present self (via Peter) that you (or someone) *must* SAVE THE CHEERLEADER. Or else, some how, through some chain of events, New York or possibly all of civilization will be decimated. No pressure.

But, seriously, Hiro, I have faith that you'll pull through somehow in the end. Just maintain that positive attitude--I think you're outlook on life is more important than most would give it credit for.

You have choose your battles wisely, you don't get to restart.

Hiro, with your powers of time travel you may be able to travel to ancient Japan and find a martial arts expert/swordfighter. He will be your Master/Sensei and you will learn to protect yourself and others. You may then find the master swords- maker and recieve your katana. All this training will take some time but it will only be a few moments for you. At this time you may learn languages fluently. Also Peter can absorb the powers of those near him and another dark individual has a similar power but instead of sharing wants it all for himself. This dark being has found that stealing the brain of each can make the powers permanent in himself. Even working in unison or league will be difficult to stop this evil person.

Don't worry about the "are you a hero" thing! You have the best intentions at heart, and yes you hid in the bathroom while those guys were being ripped apart, but you had good reason to. What could you have done? There was a good chance your powers would've gone haywire and you couldn't have stopped time... WHAT WOULD HAPPEN THEN? you'd die, thats what would happen. Then no one would be able to save the cheerleader, meaning no one could save the world. You're good Hiro-sama, I don't think anyone would have it any other way.

The question to #1 is yes, both Nathan and Peter are related. If you ever meet Peter, ask him that. Your future self went to him which means he is important to this matter. There's a reason your future self came and he knows the circumstances of time traveling and why he came back to the past. Go to Peter and Isack. They may know something and they also have powers just like you.

Hiro, I think this is the best show to hit NBC in a long time. I think you are the biggest hero on the show, and you are somehow going to draw all the other heroes together. You are still in the learning stage so you will have to be patient with yourself as you learn how and when to use your powers. Ando is going to have to learn to trust you, and not use your powers for his gain like he did in Las Vegas. That was very selfish and self-centered of him. So was getting mad at you and deserting you like he did. He should be ashamed of himself! He knows English better than you, but you have the superpowers, so you two need each other. Maybe he could teach you English, since he speaks it so well? When you guys speak in Japanese on the show, you talk so fast and the subtitles are too small and run rapidly to keep up with you. Maybe you could speak a little slower so the subtitles will go slower? When they move so fast I miss a few words.:( Ando said you could have a do-over, but he was just saying that to make you feel better. He knows exactly what to say to cheer you up. I think you should just move forward and chalk this one up for experience. We all learn from our mistakes. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Trust me, Hiro, from one gamer to another, you don't want a -1 armor class anymore. The d20 system is much better in D&D, so you start with a natural 10 AC and then you add your Dex modifier, which would be +4 for an 18 Dex. Then add the bonuses for any armor you wear. It looked almost like Banded Leather, so you would get a +5. You didn't carry a shield and you are man sized, so no extra modifiers there, but you can bend/stop time, so you can get a conditional dodge modifier of +8 when you use the power. That would put you up to AC 19, AC 27 with the conditional modifier. You would have the Uncanny Dodge feat, so you wouldn't lose the Dex bonus when flatfooted. If I were to give you a class, it would be a Fighter/Blade Singer (Time Magic based). if you need more D&D help for the latest rules (v 3.5) just ask.

I'm glad you and Ando-san are back together again. I told you he would discover that things in Las Vegas aren't all that they seem to be. Obviously, he did find that out. I'm happy for you. I hope this means that Ando-san is going to be a little bit more careful from here on out and try to follow your lead, rather than leading you into trouble, like he has been lately. I seriously hope you two have still got enough money left to get to New York. It's a long trip and gasoline isn't cheap right now.

To answer your questions:
1) Peter Petrelli, I would assume, is a relative of Nathan Petrelli's. His brother mentioned him during a campaign address. They carried it on CNN. It kinda makes you wonder what he's capable of. You know if, like Luke and Leia, who both had a facility for the force. That wouldn't be true in all cases, but it's possible in this case given that "future Hiro" went to give him a message. Speaking of which, I wouldn't worry too much about "messing with the space-time continuum." After all, isn't that more or less what you did when you went forward in time to New York City? Had you not done that, you wouldn't be in America or know the world needed saving, would you? You'd still be in Japan, messing with your clock and trying to convince Ando-san that it was real. Think about that for a while. Still, your concerns have a certain merit, so be careful how you time-travel. Still, it's nice to know it's possible, isn't it?

2) The Cheerleader. I have no idea who she is. There was a news item about a train in Odessa, Texas that derailed not too long ago. They're saying a cheerleader saved a man from the train. Maybe she's the cheerleader you need to save.

Whoever she is, she must be important. Maybe she has special powers, too. If she does, her power could be critical to the salvation of the world, couldn't it? Something else to think about, right?

3) I'd go with a katana also. You know more about those than any kind of Western style sword you might see in the movies or video games. Think "real world" by the way. There's a chance this sword you use later will probably just an ordinary sword. It's *you* that'll have to become extraordinary. You'll also need to learn more English. It doesn't sound to me like this Petrelli guy was fluent in Japanese.

I wouldn't think of yourself in D&D terms either, Hiro-kun. This is real life. If you die, you can't be resurrected. If THEY die, you might be able to go back and save them, but you need to be careful how you use that. There might be limits, and, to be honest, you really haven't explored them, yet.

About questioning your status as a hero, I'm not really sure you are one, yet. Fancy powers don't make a hero, Hiro-kun, do they? Real heros are those ordinary people who dig in and use whatever is on hand to get the job done. People like the firefighters and policemen who were helping at the World Trade Center after the plane crashes on September 11th. Like the ordinary people who got in and helped people out when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast here in America. People like your grandfather, who gave his life for Japan during the war. He didn't have any fancy powers, but he gave everything he had to help a few people, didn't he? Don't the oldsters still tell stories about folks who dug in and helped the survivers after we dropped the bomb on you guys? That's the kind of hero you want to be. Except you have an extra card to play, if you'll pardon me for making use of a poker reference at this point.

Personally, I think you're a hero just for trying to stick to your standards and moving forward with your desire to use your new powers for good. That, I think, is what makes Hiro Nakamura a hero.

It's hard to be away from home for long periods of time. I don't blame you for worrying about them. My mother always said the best solution to that was just to try to concentrate on what you were trying to do at the moment. Your family are capable people, if you're any sampling at all, and they're smart enough and resourceful enough to be able to take care of themselves.

I think you want to go bakc and save everyone around the poker table, but that might not be a wise choice, I'm afraid. The person who murdered the poker table crowd is dead as of now, but if you go back and save everyone, that person might survive and cause more harm in the future.

I'm afraid your ability might cause you to be a loner, because there are only a few people that can travel in time. Ando-kun might hang around with you right now. You should treasure these moments because it is the destiny of a hero with your skill to work alone.

Don't change the past if you don't have to. Everything you do with the past will affect your future in a way. Sometimes bad, since those poker players are not good people in the first place, let them be.

Hiro, do not beat yourself up too much over your failure! Every hero makes mistakes, especially when they're just starting out. Kyle Rayner couldn't save his girlfriend. Look how many times Spiderman has messed up, and he's a pro now! And when Batman fails someone, he just gets moody and trains a new sidekick. Maybe you can teach Ando something? Just avoid him becoming a Jason Todd...

Don't worry about it Hiro, every hero has those problems. Remember Spider-man loseing Uncle Ben? Or how Reed Richards feels bad about altering his friends and loved ones. A true Superhero can overcome, and use this bad moment as an example! Don't lose sight of your main goal though, and keep looking for that cheerleader. Think of it was a Subquest, with the bomb being your Main quest. Do your best though, and like my brother says: May you always Roll a 20, and may your critical hits be mighty.

hey, don't be too hard on yourself. The greatest hero is always the one who chikened out the first time. It is scary after all. Besides, a wise man once said, where ever you are in life, it's exactly where you need to be. Being in that closet, it's exactly where you needed to Be. If Kami had ment for you to save them, you would have.

As for the do over, no. Why? Kami didn't mean for you to so don't.

Oh, and the whole tense thing. It's He and him. Because he's not you. If he was you, you would know everthing he knows in time. But you won't because you will not live his life. Therefore, you are mot him. Another reason for this line of thinking is that you are the sum of your life. The sum of his life and the sum of yours makes you two two diffrent people. And, if you look at it Trunk's way, that future version of you will continue to exist in what ever appocolyptic world that has been created.

BTW, Isaac will know about the cheerleader. Just kep going and help out whoever you can along the way to NY.
