Captain's Log: Stardate 1764.3

Mudslide

I want to apologize to everyone. I've done something that I am very ashamed of. I've broken the cardinal rule of being a superhero. I've used my powers for personal gain. I cheated at Las Vegas. It was very unhero-like.

Now I know why I was sent to Las Vegas by the comic book. This was a test. A test to see if I can resist the temptation to be corrupted. I've failed. I've failed my first test. I'm sorry to have let you down. I've been tempted to the Dark Side.

_| ̄|○

I just hope Karma strikes back at me quick, so I'll be forgiven for my sins. Then I can reset and continue with my mission to save the world.

I'm sure this will be the first of many tests, so I have to stay strong and focused. More than ever I'll need everyone to stay strong. I need to keep asking myself, what would Chrono do in this situation? Would Peter Parker do the same? I can't let Uncle Ben die because of my actions.

On the upside, I have been practicing my time freezing as you guys have said and I think I leveled up my skill. (>_<)(o.o) I think I can release the time freeze when I want. It seems to be pretty stable and haven't felt any side effects yet. However, I don't think I can hold it more than 20 sec. Jojo was wrong! I'm definitely getting better but it's a long road to becoming a master.

I hope that Mr. Isaku, also known as Jojo's Boingo, gets my message soon. Maybe he's deliberately not taking my messages. Hmm. He might be our Dungeon Master and hence we're not allowed to talk to him. That would be cool but also would suck. I guess we can keep driving to New York in the meantime.

Oh, looks like Ando-kun finally finished shopping. Ugh. He's buying expensive suits. I can't believe we're using dirty money for non-mission related personal stuff. Well, at least we can get back to our mission now.

Yes, you guys are right. This isn't a video game. This is real life. There are no save and load games. If I did though, how many megabytes would my saved game take up? I'm going to be strong. I'll need help from time to time, but I'll be strong!

LFM to save the world.

Up up and away,
Hiro

P.S. I also heard some waitresses saying "mudslide". Is that opposite of "landslide"? Like "you lose election by mudslide"?

Hiro- you mention Chrono, but perhaps you might want to think about Magus. Though he'd gone over to the dark side for centuries, he was able to change and become a hero...and your one mistake is hardly as bad as what Magus did.

My point is that it's never too late to change. Just don't repeat mistakes you've learned from.

Gonbare! (go for it, if memory serves me right)

Posted By Silver | 08:48 PM

Hiro! Daisuke!!! Stay strong kay and don't give up no matter how strong the enemy is! Gambatte!!!

PS - what would Crono do in your situation? Well...he'd probably just wordlessly whip out his katana and beat the bad guys. You can do that once you get your sword, ne?

Fantastic program. I'm really hooked on all the plotlines. NBC best follow through and keep this going.

PS. Hiro - Enjoy your fun use of power while you learn...every new hero gets to run a little wild before they get stuck with all that responsibility. You're having to move pretty fast what with immediately having to save New York, so get your kicks where you can.

Posted By FelixFelix | 10:57 PM

you may not get this, but I remembered something last night. There's a show I used to watch called, Early Edition. It was about a guy who got tomorrow's paper, today. He was able to save peoples lives that way.

But, you got me to remember, that he did use the paper to try to win just enough money, so he would be able to buy himself a place, and not be able to work, so he can focus more on helping people. I also do remember that there were times when he wasn't able to save someone. But, that was never really his own fault. It was more of the fault of the person themselves (if that makes sense).

Being a Hero is one thing. But, being a hero is to understand that the choices humans make are their own doings, not yours. I learned this the hard way, "you can't change someone else's ways. What we may see as wrong, they may see as right. What they see is wrong, we may see is right."

I may be wrong in saying this, in your view, but I'll say it anyway.

To be a hero, you must be able to learn from the mistakes you feel you've made, and go from there.

to me, a Hero is someone that's not afraid to learn about their personal selves. That, is what you're doing.

HUGS

Where are you?

Posted By cyberyang | 09:58 AM

I saw the 2 swords future hero carries. i suppose Hiro learns martial Arts, that would be great. He also doesn't look so innocent anymore, he looks a lot more tough, i hope in the future he's tough when he has to be, but still innocent and nice when he's just having fun. like Goku from Dragon Ball Z.

Posted By Julian | 07:41 AM

Your friend was right, every superhero uses his power for personal gain all the time. Spiderman fought in a cage using his powers to get some money to buy a car and impress the girl he liked. you should have kicked those guys butt! its ok to be good and inocent but you know what? what if those bad guys would have done something to a loved one of yours? Superman uses his powers to impress louis and takes her flying around all the time. Using your powers for personal gain once in a while isnt bad. you can get stuff you can use to save the world that way, plus it's fun for us to watch how you get new cool stuff by using your powers. Spiderman even used his powers to try to deliver a pizza and not lose his job. after all, they're YOUR powers, and you're being selfless enough by using them to save New York.

Posted By Julian Ortega | 07:38 AM

yo Hiro... Again I'm impressed with your future look... kimi wa sugoi deshou.... Things are strarting to get even more exciting... The enemy still has the advantage... You guys are not organized yet... You guys are formidable as a team but alone you guys are weak against the enemy...... I just hope you guys realized that... The bad guys are on the move... Planning something... Be careful.. The world wathces... hahahahaha.... Boku mo hero deshou.... aaaa yatttaaa

Don't waste your time blogging. Fulfill your destiny and I'll blog for you.

Posted By The Hero Watcher | 02:36 PM

Hiro. I was thinking.. When Ando-kun and you split up.. you were in the desert. And it reminded me of...

SW:epIV. o.o But I think Ando-kun was more like 3PO. Which is okay! Cause R-2 is cute and closer to your personality, anyway. :) (And Ando-kun knows English, and acts like a protocol droid, anyway. No offense! :D)

Aren't you glad you saw someone else with powers, and didn't run into Jawas? ;D

Posted By Komadori | 01:44 PM

If no one has told you yet, i would guess you power works by hypercarging your molocules. This allows your full body structure to move at CSL (Close to Speed of Light). This means you can manipulate time or distance but not both. By laws of physics you can't manipulate both at the same time our you negate gravity and lots of other fun things we humans need to live on our Newtonin level of life(any thing affected by gravity is newtonin). This means if you want to improve your powers you need to focus on either holding your time-warp, or calculating how long it takes to teleport certin distances. But for the love of god don't practice in a moving vehical, no telling where you'll end up.
At the same time, you must relize thet you are not actually stopping time, the reality is that your entire body is moving at the same speed as an electron orbits the nucleos of an atom. Everything around you apears to stop baecuse it's moving too slow in relation to you.
Also, your forgetting the major factor to any hero, super or not. The butt kicking. If you don't practice your matrial arts, mistakes like this one will continue to occure. Viglience in the price of good and truth. So gat back in this game with some combat skills and stop playing the mage. Time Mages are cool, but time Lords, like Dr. Who, kick booty with any weapon in any time. So practice practice practice, and maybe you'll make it to Carrnige Hall...before they blow it up.

Posted By Jonnywar | 12:49 PM

Well, it was wrong, but like many others said, you did realize it was wrong. Remember the lyrics from the song "Move Along" by the American band called the All-American Rejects: "When all you've gotta keep is strong, move along, move along like I know you'd do. And even when your hope is gone, move along, move along, just to make it through!"

Posted By Swordsman | 12:14 PM

Hiro i have a question... can you slow down time instead of stopping it? you should try, that way when you need to fight with someone, you will seem superfast to them. Also, how come if the cheerleader has the power of TISSUE regenetion, she can regenarate her bones too? she said "I have busted like
every bone in my body." and one last thing. if Peter can mimic powers how does he get a scar in the future if he could heal his wounds by copying the cheerleaders power... is it because he didnt know her or saw her for a while after he got the wound and then it became a scar and scars are already healed so he cant get rid of them with her power?

Posted By Julian Ortega | 11:29 AM

Posted By The Bean | 11:13 AM

Hiro, the look on your face when you saw Nathan land outside the diner was priceless. It is your innocence and "child's eyes" for looking at the world that will save us all!

http://www.superhiro.org

Posted By Hiro Fans | 10:12 AM

Hiro,

Every hero has struggles in their quest. Consider them tests of character. There are many who have faith in you.

I just have to say your tales make me happy. I can't stop watching because of you.

Now go save the cheerleader, save the world, and stay away from the Black Opal right now.

Waffles are good.

Posted By Jen | 01:55 AM

You strayed from the path of super-heroism, but you know Peter Parker did the same thing in Amazing Fantasy #15. I have a feeling you'll see the error of your ways earlier than our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man did and hopefully it will spare you the loss of your own personal Uncle Ben. You will get back on the right path in time and with your powers you'll certainly have a lot of it to spare. Take care, fight the good fight, don't rely on the Enertron because you'll still be hungry, and remember that you're on the light side, always.

P.S. Keep an eye out for cheerleaders. Just a suggestion.

I love the show!
Every single one of you are very good actors!
I am awaiting the next episode....
I think this is a nighttime soap opera sort of?
If i could log in to the NBC boards i would communicate with other fans of the show but since NBC hasn't fixed my account yet?
i can't!
love to all of you keep up the great acting..

Posted By pittsburgh fan | 08:44 PM

Hiro, a mudslide is sorta like a landslide but the word isn't used the same way. a mudslide is when the mud or dirt, or rocks, on a hillside becomes loose and starts to slide down that hillside. They are considered natural disasters and often cause massive amounts of property damage, even carrying away whole houses.

Also, i wouldn't worry about using your powers for personal gain, your not a jedi and all heroes make mistakes. Anyways, in a year or so you'll resemble the Hiro from Snow Crash. Snow Crash is by Neal Stephenson and i highly reccomend it if you haven't read it. It might be right up your alley.

Posted By Shy | 07:32 PM

Even though you used your powers for 'evil' you still understood that it was wrong, and are willing to repent for that. ^__^ So don't worry to much about it. And besides, no one's perfect; not even super-heroes.

So keep up the good work and all around awesomeness Hiro-san!

  Posted By ................................. | 06:01 PM

What a disappointment. This doesn't really seem to fit the character at all. I was hoping for a lot more.

Posted By Anonymous | 05:53 PM

Heh, what's wrong with the dark side?

And he must be too busy to update his blog; he has to save the world, obviously.

It must be time consuming!

Posted By Specusci | 05:22 PM

Hiro asks "If I did though, how many megabytes would my saved game take up?".

Assuming Hiro is 60 Kilograms.
Assuming Hiro is "Bag of mostly water", or H2O.
Assuming H2O is 18 atomic mass units (u).
One u = 1.6605 x 10^-27 KG

Number of water molecules in one Hiro is:

60 / (18 * 1.6605 x 10^-27) = 2 x 10 ^ 27

Assuming lossy compression of quantum state vector per molecule
to have 1000 qubits each (this is the weakest part of the estimation),

A snapshot of Hiro would be 2 x 10 ^ 30 qubits.

or approximately

2E24 megaqubits.

where 1 qubit is one quantum bit, ie the current spin state of an electron's wavefunction, which is some superposition of |psi> = |up> + |down> using bra - ket notation.

Hiro, all will work out. Don't worry about the cheating in Las Vegas. You were duped. But Ando-chan was right when he said, "Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells his pictures of Spiderman?"

Very true! You just need to find a more productive way of using your powers for good and to help yourself along the way.

BEWARE! If you mess with time you can cause a rift or deviation in the flow of time. NEVER change the past. That's a bad thing. Good luck! Hiro! ã‚„ã£ãŸãƒ¼ï¼

No way, Hiro, you didn't go to the Dark Side. Remember when Qui Gon Jinn used the Force to move the Chance Cube so he could get Anakin and the Hyperdrive for Amidala's ship? Do you think Qui Gon Jinn went to the Dark Side when he did that?

Think about it! ;)

What happens if you do meet up with yourself? I hope you don't create any paradoxes. Live Long and Prosper Hiro.

Hiro, I stumbled accross your blog... and well, I am so relieved to read your posts!

For as along as I can remember, I have had a certain... ahhhh, affinity with electronics and machines. My dad calls me a "mechanical genius".

Please don't think I'm crazy, but I think sometimes machines and the computers at the computer store I work at are talking to me; like I can understand them and know how to fix them or use them. I know what it means to be tempted to use my, ummmm, *gift* but I was taught by good parents to be an upstanding citizen and to have, above all, integrity.

I thought I was going crazy, but I'm reading your blog, and thinking I am not alone anymore. Perhaps I, too, have a destiny to fullfill?

Last you wrote, you were in Vegas... if you happen to find yourself in Phoenix, email me and we can meet. I would truly like to meet someone as "unique" as myself.

If you head to Isaac Mendez's place again (Hopefully you still remember from your first visit there), you will unite with 2 MORE heroes. You have already met with 2 heroes. You must save a blonde girl (I couldn't identify which one in my prophecy), but she is about the same age as me. O yea, this hint might help too,

Posted By Yuffie my Hiro | 09:59 PM

Hey Hiro! It's my first time posting, but I just want to say, you're on the right track man. And I have a few words of encouragement, so bare with me.

Although time and space are things we may never fully understand, I think I may have some ideas for you to think over. The first of which, is to think of time as one stable, unchangeable thing. It’s a series of events, motions, and reactions that happen and continue to happen until infinity. It would be impossible to change the past because changing something at the beginning of the reaction would affect the entire timeline, and destroy the original “jump†back into time that caused it, negating the entire thing.

This brings us to you, and the apparent ability you have to change the time stream. I’d like to purpose a different way for you to look at your powers Hiro. You’re not changing the past when you “affect†the future; you’re filling your role in the greater timeline. These things you’ve “changed†are actually events that you HAVE to change, because the flow of time requires you to change them, to keep the flow of time moving. Each “change†is nothing more then another normal event and reaction within the predetermined timeline. But, because it’s predetermined, that also means that the timeline would fall apart if you don’t “change†the things you “changeâ€.

Time itself NEEDS you Hiro, the UNIVERSE needs you, and WE need you. You’ve been given a great gift because time requires you to use it. You have a destiny to fulfill, a role to play, and a purpose in it all.

So don’t let the little things get to you man, that’s all they are, little things. Every great hero must face some challenges, some great, and some small. So don’t worry, things will turn out ok. After all, fate itself needs you to succeed; it’s your destiny.

=]

  Posted By JasonCo2 | 09:52 PM

Time is not an illusion, "time" as we know it, is our perception of light and it's speed. For example, common flys perceive time and reality 25 times slower than we do, which is why you have to sneak up on a fly in order to swat it. I think Hiro doesn't freeze time rather he moves and thinks faster than the speed of light, however doing this would turn him into a being of pure energy (E=MC2) which according to some quantum theories would either kill him or allow him to propel himself to any position in space and time, hence his ability to teleport himself to any position on Earth.

But if this is true, this would make Hiro the most powerful being in the universe, able to turn himself into a being of pure energy and manipulatte time and space as he sees fit. I'm pretty sure the writers didn't take quantum and general relativity theories into account and just created a hero who could freeze time and that's that. Anyway, it's a tv show, and it's fun to see such a quirky and happy-go-lucky fellow like Hiro discover something astounding about himself.

/end rant

  Posted By Hiro's hero | 09:18 PM

Its not jumping in and out of time that could cause the damage, its where and when you do it. There are a million theories out there. And in my honest belief they will never be proven because time travel is not possible. Time is just a label we put on things as a mesurement like inches or meters. Time measures many things, the revolution of the Earth around the sun, it measures the rotion of the Earth around its axis. Time is no more significant than a name, a label that people have somehow extended mystical properties to. The concept of time travel was brought upon by "what if's" and "why not's". Time is very much an illusion. But it is great for stories and that is why our friend Hiro is so popular.

Posted By Strife | 09:01 PM

I personally dont think that jumping in and out of time wo uld have to many ill effect due to the fact that physics says that time occurs at once or that the present and the past occurs in the same instance

Posted By tbooda | 08:42 PM

I do have to ask though Amehlyn, who the heck is Mr. Robins?

Posted By Strife | 08:41 PM

To Hiro:
Most of what I said earlier is important for you to know. (everything except the TV part) And The Doctor is right, it goes to what I said, never be in the same place at the same time as yourself.

(Probably the reason future Hiro contacted Peter Petrelli instead of preasent Hiro. Peter is the only other one that could have shared the same time distortion with out risking the paradox.)

Oh and Doctor, safe journeys to you too.

Posted By Strife | 08:34 PM

Oh no. Now I'm starting to sound like Mr. Robins. (Got my own personal paradox right here)

Posted By Amehlyn | 08:30 PM

To Strife:

I think I get it now. Paradoxial Theory. One cannot occupy a single frame of time with a past frame of themselves. Gonna upset the physical plane of time and space (or something like that). Gotta be careful what you do if you get the chance to travel into the past.
Wow. Mr. Robins actually did teach me something... lol

Posted By Amehlyn | 08:28 PM

u r the coolest person ive ever known

u r a really good role modle and a good person to look up 2

u r my fav. hero

u r BAD @$$

Posted By shane | 08:12 PM

to Amehlyn:

If he had gone back to tell himself not to cheat it would have created a paradox. Let me state my reasoning.

Had he gone back to tell himself and Ando not to cheat at gambling he would have no reason to later go back and tell himself not to cheat because he didnt therfore he would have cheated anyways. Brain hurting yet?

Also two Hiro's occupying the same time-space might in itself cause a paradox that would tear apart the space-time continuum.

Now this is all under the assumption that time travel were possible, you do have to remember Amehlyn, it is a TV show. They film it with a script so all your "what ifs" won't change a thing. Its good to wonder though isn't it.

Posted By Strife | 08:11 PM

When time traveling, remember to never appear in a time and place you have already been. The temporal consequences of such actions would be devastating to when and where you happen to be.

Posted By The Doctor | 08:07 PM

I wonder what would happen if you traveled back in time and told Ando not to gamble at the casino and use your powers to cheat. Would you have met Nathan Petrelli? Or would you have not been beat up by those angry dudes that were cheated. Hmmm..... gonna have to get back to you on that one...

Posted By Amehlyn | 06:04 PM

Hiro,

Been reading your blog with great interest. You seem like real superhero material, inside and out.

Don't kick yourself too hard about the vegas thing. Everybody makes mistakes, you live and you learn. I have no doubt that you'll find much greater temptations (real emotional conflicts) to misuse your power in the future.

However, I'm VERY concerned about your casual use of timespace manipulation to "level up" your powers. I have no doubt that your abilities will improve with practice, but I strongly caution you against overusing your abilities. Consider that every manipulation may put a small "wrinkle" in the fabric of timespace, and that too much back and forth over the same time or space frame may "wear thin" the very fabric of the universe.

As another poster mentioned, the limits of your powers go FAR beyond that of the average comic book superhero. Altering the laws of time and space is a GODlike power. I can't urge you strongly enough to take care in your experiments. The consequences could be disastrous!

Try practicing teleporting things away from you. That way you don't have to die by taking the bomb and teleporting into space or something.

Learn how to teleport it into space by itself... you are my favorite Hero, stay strong and pure.

(P.S. you look ultra cool in the future. Maybe you teleport yourself backwards in time and learn how to use a sword?)

We all need heros these days, with terrorists that crash planes into buildings, and blowthemselves up just to prove a point; it's good to have someone to look to and believe in.

I believe in you!!!

I'll forgive you for misusing your powers. I think that poker player balanced your karma at least a little. You would look cool wiht a soul patch. Next time someone tries to convince you to use your powers for wrong just freeze time and think it over. Would Spiderman or Superman do it?

Be true to yourself. Would you do the same thing if you had no power?

Maybe the mudslide might mean Nathan Petrelli might go negitive in his election.

You an awsome superhero. at lest u relized it was wrong to use your powers like that in las veges, u did try to warn your friend something bad like getting beat up might happen. but every hero falls once or twice during there quest we are only human.
and swamping hands were someone would notice wasn't the smartest idea either. but at lest you know it was wrong to do it. that is what makes you such a great superhero. i just didnt understand why u didnt check the comic book to see what would happen when your friend was gambling. but your still the coolest. good luck with your mission you are going to be one of the greatest superheros.

Hey Hiro, Man, your show would be good if it wasnt for all of the commercials. You spend the 1st 10 minutes with explaining what happened last time & commercials, then you spend the last 10 minutes giving ambiguous clues about next week (& commercials). Then, in between, the remaining 20 minutes are divided up equally with commercials & storyline. So, this is like a movie you get told to 10 minutes every week. I'm not exaggerating, it's ridiculous. I think I'll wait until you hit DVD. Sorry buddy, hope the season goes well (which for you guys MAY equal an hours worth of material).

Make way Kingdom Hearts!!! \^o^/

Yeah... that sounded cheesy, but I've been playing the game, like, non-stop lately. >_>;;
I always wondered what it would be lke to be thrown into a world and be a main character. ^-^ I've been thinking about that a lot lately... and boom - here is this blog and new ideas and shows on TV and comics... gawd the comics and graphic novels out there now! It's like in the last decade we're making this weird paradigm shift.
Wow, your powers sound really cool, and I bet it works like a muscel too. Kinda like how I'm an artist - you have to work at it everyday to get better. And I would love to be a comic book artist one day ^^ Hope your powers get as strong as that good heart you seem to have.... we need more heroes out there, Hiro.
Anyways, I saw a pic of you and I think your a little cutie. So I'm going to draw your picture. ^-^

PIck up this book sometime (I'm sure it is printed in japanese.) 'The Power of Myth' by Joseph Cambell

You remind me of this quote:
"When you see the hundredths of a second buzzing by, you realize how time is running through you. The circle, on the other hand, represents totality. Everything within the circle is one thing, which is encircled, enframed. That would be the spatial aspect. But the temporal aspect of the circle is that you leave, go somewhere, and always come back. God is the alpha and the omega, the source and the end. The circle suggests immediately a completed totality, whether in time or in space." Power of Myth, Joseph Cambell

Hope you can find meaning in it.

"This isn't a video game. This is real life. There are no save and load games."

That 's only for other guys, not you. It's really a video game with s/l for you. If you did something wrong just turn back time and redo it.

btw, other guys are superhero, but you are not. You are GOD, power overwhelming GOD. Practise harder until you can exactly master time and space. Go to future to find the truth and then go back to finish the final boss before s01e01 happens. Afterwards, observe how the universe be given birth and die, and be a eternal being in everywhere of the time and space flow.

Super Hiro,
Don't kick yourself so hard, remember even Peter Parker tripped up and did the talk show circuit thing. If he can bounce back from Leno, you can survive a little roulette. Mistakes happen, what's important is that you learn from them and move forward. Speaking of moving forward, have you considered moving backwards? Seriously.
You wanted ideas on how to improve your skills?... (dramatic pause)...consider Bill and Ted.
(o.O)
Come on, keep up with me here. Bill and Ted went back in time, found master/teachers to train them, had kids and came back to the moment they left with knowledge and experience in tow. You could learn english, kungfu, kendo, wine tasting, table ettiquette, etc seemingly instantaneous (>. Because when you think about it the best tool you have to work with is...TIME

Couple of things.

Remember that Luke himself tasted the Dark Side before he became a full master. The winnings that you got from Vegas were part of your learning curve. It had to happen. Now you know the coust of your actions.

Spiderman said it best, "With great power come Greater responsibility." Dont forget.

The second thing is the "Time Freeze" I tend to think of it in tearms of AD&D 1st Edition. They called it a Time Stop. The caster could move about freely and so could some one he or she chooses. Just like you do.

Stay Cool Hiro.

Hiro, judging from the way you spoke to that corporate politician from NYC I see that your language skills are improving.

But sometimes a good manager may still need to rely on software to get his point across, to translate, as it were.

Here is a post exactly on that:

It is particularly helpful if you need the political and monetary support for your project.

I wanted to give a heads up to whomever is writing these(most likely a writer). The use of the emotes is incredibly touching, considering after having played Final Fantasy 11 I know first hand the depth of use it has in the Japanese internet culture.

And Hiro, baby, keep on rocking.

Hiro, keep doing what you are doing but, don't you think you should've stayed with Mr. Petrelli, or even better ask for his help on saving the world. I mean, you were the only one who saw him flying, maybe it's a sign.

You never know you might cross paths with him again.

In the case of Ando-kun, well I know I said before to be careful with him and his "little" gambling problem, but give him a chance, he's a nice guy, plus you don't know how to drive lol.

\(^o^/ Yaatttaaa!!!

keep it real Hiro-san

P.S.: Chrono would be proud of you know taht you have acknowledge the responsabilities of having the power to control time.

P.S.S.: Man!! I never even got to beat that game, I couldn't regenerate that stupid gem in the future.

Posted By Karen | 10:33 PM

Hiro, every superhero goes through the experience of using their powers for wrong. You need to see what happens first hand to learn that it's wrong. The trick is making sure you never do it again. You're just lucky that your first experience wasn't as hard as Peter Parker's. You could have gotten Ando killed, but you didn't.

On a side note, you should have dug out better cards for him from the deck, not taken from someone else's hand. That's just a lesson in subtlety. You must learn to do things without letting others see it.

And on a personal note... Don't lose the glasses! I like the glasses!

Who's job is it to write these blogs, and whose job is it to respond to them as if this person is real? Or, are there people out there actually responding with the "You can do it" and "You gotta trust me, man" messages? Because that is crazy, crazy man! Talk about taking a TV fantasy show to the next level, wow. As if the voyeristic catharsis is not enough, psychotic fantastical correspondance now amplifies an individuals break from reality and difficulty to become centered - I think. But then again, maybe I'm crazy. I am posting, as if anyone would give any more credence to my poorly spelled and grammatically flawed message.

Posted By Burritto | 08:12 PM

Don't beat yourself up for a mistake. Everyone is only human and its happens naturally. You are right about the fact that it does take a long time to master your goal (believe me, I've been sketching for 10 years and I'm still working on my technique).
Two thumbs up with being strong about yourself. And yes Peter Parker would probably do the same thing.
Athough, about the megabyte thing, I can't help you with that; megabytes are so not my thing.

Posted By Scuba Steve | 07:46 PM

P.S. I forgot to lok up Mudslide for you!

Since you said a WAITRESS said it, I wondered if it might not be a DRINK and .... it IS!

Mudslide #1
Ingredients:

* 2 oz Vodka
* 2 oz Kahlua
* 2 oz Bailey's irish cream

Mixing instructions:

Mix with cracked ice in a shaker. Serve in a chilled highball glass

There may be different kinds of this drink.

for example, here is one called an Ultimate Mudslide:
30 ml vodka
30 ml Kahlua® coffee liqueur
30 ml Bailey's® Irish cream
60 ml cream
60 ml milk
1 banana
3 ice cubes
grated chocolate

Place all ingredients, except grated chocolate, in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glass and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
Serve in a Margarita glass.

I think it may be called a
"mudslide" because mud is dark and liquid like chocolate, and the idea of a mudslide may be what alchohol does to you \(-_-)/

Hope that helps!

(wow, you are bringing up things even I as an American don't know, and helping me see other things in a new light, thanks!)

Hiro, you gotta trust me when I say to you that not one single hero hasn't been tempted, hasn't in some way been tested in his faith and resolve. Have trust in yourself. The fact that you are feeling the way you are is proof that you are cognizant of the pitfalls and perils that path can lead. I only hope that you can find the strength to overcome those temptations..and become the hero I KNOW you are meant to be.

Good luck to you my friend. My prayers are with you.

  Posted By Hazzardous_Intent | 07:17 PM

You say you feel bad for cheating and geting money for your own gain. It's OK, it prooves you are human and you havea BIG heart!
BUT consider this:
You now need to travel across teh whole continent ofthe United States of America. That is going to take awhile. With this money, you can actually COMPLETE your mission!
But, if I were in your shoes I would feel badly too. What if the ball had landed on somebody else's number, what if they needed the money?
BUT if you were stuck there in Vegas penniless, how were going to get to New York WITH your friend to stop the bomb! If you didn't need him (as a side kick, how cool woudl it be if he is your sidekick! Too bad he doesn't have powers or skills too, maybe we will se them in the future?) the comic book wouldn't have said so. AND yes, it was a test I think. But I think you were meant to go to Vegas to 1) get money 2) learn a valuable lesson.
Did you konw muscles get bigger becasue they TEAR? The same is with our lives, we get soul-growth from challanges and drama.
So, I forgive you, Hiro!
How can we learn from mistakes if we don't make them? I am sure the comic book had you do it anyway, and I am sure it will be part of your fate and it will be important for your overall mission to have done this.
BEST OF LUCK HIRO!
YOU CAN DO IT!

Hero(Hiro),

you were in a dark place, with dark people and a seedy atmosphere. this city of Las Vegas is a place where time is meant to stand still. Notice that in a casino there are no clocks. That the casinos pump O2 in to the rooms to give you a high that people are unaware of.

this is why your friend was losing all his money. This is why you had done what you were suppose to do.

that was to learn.

Learn to stop time.
Learn to know yourself.
Learn that Karma needs not to strick back at you personally.

This was a learning and not a teaching. No one was there to hold your hand.

What you learned is what you take from it. grasp the knowledge that you are entitled too!

Peace

Hmm.... how many megs would your save game be? In the words of Douglas Adams, I'd take a flying guess at 42!

Er..... but that's only HIS opinion. Er... lets see... maybe a gig.... two gigs? Two 30 gig iPods worth? Several terabytes? The amount of memory it takes to run the Internet? Well! If it's two iPods worth.... that's an iPod for each hand! And I guess that means your save state is highly portable and maybe from Apple!

Or maybe I'm thinking too hard and should have stuck with 42.....

Hiro,

I don't believe you can stop time. You are looking at this from the wrong perspective. What you can actually do is either step out of time -- i.e. move in and out of the time stream at will, choosing the place to exit, and re-enter.

I say this because the effect sphere seems to be infinite, i.e. when the card game is stopped, there is not a bubble effect -- ie. things moving normal speed outside of your effect sphere. This would be a huge energy drain and make it impossible to "stop time".

So I posit that what you can do is affect yourself (and others that you touch) interaction with the time/space stream.

what do you think?

Posted By korvack | 08:41 AM

Hi Hiro! Nice to see you keeping your blog up to day - it's fun to hear from you and what you're learning.

I think maybe this trip to Las Vegas and on to New York may be like your tutorial - a chance for you to get to practice using your powers in situations where it's relatively "safe" - you know, where if you mess up, it's not so bad. I can't imagine that Fate would give you this wonderful ability and then not give you a chance to learn how to use it well before throwing you into the fire, so to speak, eh?

Just be sure not to lose touch with who you are and where you come from. That core part of you is what will give you the strength and the courage to face these challenges and to fight honourably as a true Hero!

Posted By dude | 04:41 AM

Don't kick yourself too hard, Hiro. I don't think this was a test. Think of it more as a learning experience. It's not about the money, it's about levelling up, and you've only got a few more weeks to go before New York gets turned to a parking lot, so... keep on levelling up!

Remember, even the great James Tyberias Kirk cheated on occassion. That's how he beat the Kobayashi Maru. Just don't overdo it.

Also, you might want to work on stopping time without moving any facial muscles. Not a huge deal, but some of those security people in Vegas can spot patterns like poker tells. "Hmmm... every time that excited looking Japanese guy squeezes his eyes up all my Aces dissappear". Just could get dangerous.

Posted By Tkrain | 02:38 AM

Never lose your sense of fun, Hiro, that's what you accept responsability of power for - so that there can be good things in the world :)

And how are you supposed to learn if you never make mistakes?

Good luck saving the world!

About the cheating: You're only human which means you will make mistakes; and that it is your responsibility to grow and learn from those mistakes.

Also about the cheating: Why switch people's cards?! That was kinda dumb. All you had to do was stop time and look at everyones hand, and make bets based on the information.

I mean, even villians think about their plans.

Posted By Smitten | 10:48 PM

Here's a question for you, Hiro. If you make a mistake, such as overgambling, or just running into some trouble, why not just travel back through time and tell yourself not to do it?

Posted By Wyrmfell | 10:28 PM

ãŠã„ã€ãƒ’ロã€å›ã€€é¦¬é¹¿ã€€ã‹ï¼Ÿ
Everyone knows, when you gamble, don't go over board. You saw how Ando almost lost all your money gambling, they same applies otherwise. Everything in moderation. Like with Peter Parker. He never used his powers to make a lot of money, he only sold his pictures to get by and not to mention he was paid poorly by a cheap man. Moderation!

I agree with this guy. Do it in moderation. BTY Have you seen thge movie Clockstoppers? If not then the movie, deals with the freezing time aspects of your powers... expect that it's in a watch. Basically in Hypertime, your moving so fast , it was as if time was standing still! My idea might be a little stupid.

GOOD LUCK Hiro on your mission! ^_^

I agree with this guy. If your going to use your powers to win money, then do it enough to have money for gas, food, tolls, and other stuff. BTW, have you seen the move Clockstoppers? If not then basically it also deals with time powers.... but it is all contolled with a watch... and it's only the freeze time thing. Hmm.... if Clockstoppers was the same to your powers ,then you could bring people, and bring items in too!
GOOD LUCK!!!! ^_^

Oh no, Not the time warp thing! If Hiro from the future goes back in time to warn Peter then doesn't that change Hiro's future too? If Future Hiro does make a difference by warning Peter then how can he go back to a future that doesn't exist?!?

When you play with time things will get twisted, but then again if everything is "destiny" then you can't really prevent something that is going to happen, it is predetermined. Therefore, how do you stop a Nuclear Bomb from going off in New York if it is a part of destiny?

Ahh! This is so confusing, Hiro, aren't you afraid of messing with time? What if you ARE the one in an alternate future who had chopped Mr Isaku's head open with a samurai sword? We don't want to loose you to the dark side...

Chrono would say, "..." Same as Cloud. o.o

Anyway. Don't feel too bad about Vegas. What happens there, stays there, right?

Nijuu byou wa mo nagai desu ne.

20 seconds is a lot of time. :) You should try different things while practicing, as it might help you in the future. Like... a confuse spell! Well, not a spell, but how to confuse a potential enemy by changing some minor details of the area while in freezetime.

Maybe you could get ideas from the movie "Click" or ask yourself what Nightcrawler would do, since he could bamf really quickly. :)

I've been playing Okami of late, and it's reminded me of your ability, to an extent, so maybe you could get some ideas from that game and the brushstroke techniques. :) Oh! And see if you can take someone else into freezetime. Maybe hold onto Ando-kun's shoulder... ala Kitty Pride taking folks with her through walls. What do you think?

Posted By Komadori | 12:57 PM

Glad to hear you're still practing! And also, all Hero's have their failed tests. Remember when Spiderman accidentlly killed Gwen Stacy because he forgot the laws of physics? Well, your first test wasn't nearly as bad as that, so don't take it so hard.

P.S Don't let Ando-kun push you around so much!

Don't worry too much about the 'personal gain' thing. Every hero gets tempted to use their powers for non-misson related reasons once in a while. Just remind Ando-san that he won't get to spend that money if the world goes BOOM.

Love,

P.S. I think the waitress might have been referring to the drink when she said 'mudslide'. It's made with vodka, Kahlua and Bailey's Irish Creme.

Ah, yet another hero to love! No offense, but my favorite of all time is SPIDER-MAN. But that's just because he's been around longer, you know? By the way, kudos for using "Let it ride" in that casino game. You did well. Oh, uh, "kudos" is sorta a silly English word that means "good job." "Brownie points" means the same thing. Feel free to use some of those. Don't worry, you'll be speaking good English in no time.

I am silly. Please forgive me! It is probably because Star Trek is different--in the same way you've always wanted to be different. To like Yamato is to be different here. Only a few people know about it.

You know Hiro...
How can we learn if we never make mistakes...obviously you recognize what you have done and it is only gonna better you for the bigger picture... things happen for a reason, we all have a purpose in life, there's a path we take that will lead us to the things we believe in or fight for, and along the way we have obstacles, things that get in our way , and we got two choices, push through them or go around them. If we go around them, what do we learn from the situation?, you could say nothing... but it is not entirely true, if you go around it and escape from it, you know there is a way of escaping the situation. Not only that, you would be able observe the obstacle from all points view. Seeing what it is all about from the outside, and know when it comes back again you can handle it with better decisions on what you do, when you see it.
Now pushing through it, you obviously will learn first hand on what not to do, but pushing through the obstacle, dealing with the obstacle, forces you to better yourself in ways you would nver think were possible. You are given a gift that is meant to save the world. Use it as much as you can, there is no right or wrong, when you are learning, only what you plan to do with it, creates judgment of your character...
Its easy to get caught up in something you still dont have control over...

Also, try to learn English and grow a goatee A.S.A.P.! Also try to learn how to wield a katana. And maybe be able to learn how to stop who you want, instead of just everbody. Just some friendly advice. And I think those save games might take up a few Terrabytes... Oh, and maybe you can "Save & Load" by maybe "saving" a moment in time where you can go back to at any moment...? And a mudslide is just a massive wave of, well, mud. Plain and simple.

One thing about being a "hero" is learning from your mistakes. In the future you will learn alot about yourself as well as the others. You help teach the others the extent of thier powers. At the same time you build new friendships with a bond that can never be broken. But you will find that with being a "hero" also comes a lot of pain. Like the loss of your friend. (I won't say any more because I don't want to give the future shows away). But, the future comics look good. And you get a great chance to show your acting skills. Have fun with the part. See you soon.

one of the earliest sci fi novels, "the stars my destination" can help you with the teleportation.

obviously you have learned to control space/time, as when you give Mr. Petrelli his msg, but the clock is ticking, you must learn to master it.

remember, when saving the world, money is irrelevant, and those not involved in fomreting or foiling the impending armageddon is irrelevant.

What you do to focus, harness, and grow your power is all the matters.

It's difficult to imagine a more powerful hero than the one who can alter space/time continuum. Your ability reminds me of ョジョã®å¥‡å¦™ãªå†’険(JoJo's Bizarre Adventure). One of the characters in that series, Jotaro Kujo, has the ability to control time through Star Platinum, his "substitute." And of course, he pretty much kicked everybody's ass. Nothing is stronger than the power to control time. Good luck and I hope you save New York.

Does anyone else think it's weird to be responding to the blog of a fictional character? Do we really need to "pretend" to such an extreme degree? It would be fine if we were taling ABOUT Hiro wuth each other, but talking TO Hiro is absurd. Talk about mediating reality. I guess with shows like Laguna Beach we just aren't able to tell the real from the unreal anymore. Or at least that's what the networks would like.

Hey Hiro - You have to remember that Casino's make their living off of people's addictions to their games and gambling in general. They take everyones money and generally the "house" always wins. You aren't Batman- you need money. And winning it with your powers from a casino isn't all that bad just as long as you dont make so much all at once you draw attention to yourself! Don't feel to bad about making money you are going to use to help you save the world.

Oh and if you think you are stealing other peoples money you can easily set it up so you are only making money off of the casino rather than the other people betting. Just play to beat the house.

Oh and only play games you know you can cheat at well! Last thing you want is for people to suddenly notice your bet has moved to a different number or that their cards are different. If you want to use your powers for say blackjack stop time before he the house deals - rig the deck that way because sometimes they already rigged the deck to favor themselves...

Cheating the cheaters is the way to go ^_^

The true measure of a hero is not infallibility, for all of us are human and therefore, we err. Rather, the true measure of a hero is how he deals with the responsibility that he is given. "With great power..." Ah, we've heard it a million times, no need to say more.

Hiro - You are the first of your kind to recognize the responsibilities that come with the great powers you have discovered. Your path stretches before you like a shining ribbon... follow that path and your true destiny will unfold. You will err, but each time it is for a learning experience.

I know that you will not allow New York to be blown up, keep your focus now upon the goal, you can do it!

We all have trust in you.

Be strong, Hiro-san. Keep fighting, Ichzer One!

Time Out of Mind

Ok, so I've been reading this book by John R. Maxim called Time Out of Mind. It's an old book, so you might want to get it at a used bookstore, or somewhere on line. Anyways, in the book, the author had made some interesting notes. Being adopted, I have some personal issues. So, of course, when I read what he wrote about how people who are adopted have had experienced certain strong senses of de'ja vu (he used another term), I thought how true that was.

I've taken a year off from working on my own genealogy, so I can do some of my own soul searching after from what I've found. One good example, is that I now know what tribe I'm from. I always knew I was Native American, but just didn't know what, until I found my birth family a few years ago, but sadly I had to stop contact with all of them last year for personal reasons. But, I continued with my own search, and decided that whatever it was I was looking for, was always with me. I just had to be aware.

Got off topic there. I was on the phone with a Brother Bill who is a Fraer at San Antonio Mission in CA. My tribe from the past helped build the San Antonio Mission. More like, slaves. While I was on the phone with B. Bill, a feeling of something I had to tell him came over me. I knew what it was, and thankfully he understood. But, I told him I had to tell him something. Here I am, being a descendant of my tribe, and here he is, a descendant of the Frairs, all I had to tell him was that, "It's alright." He knew I meant that It's ok now. Because the feeling that no one in my tribe would dare say that to a Frair these days. I had to tell him in those two words that "it's alright, and we can finally move on." A forgiveness I felt came over me while talking with him. He was so patient and understanding with me, that I was able to talk to him freely about that feeling.

And to ad, I believe in fate now, because after that conversation, I have yet been able to get a hold of B. Bill since then. He was actually not supposed to be there that time I called. He was getting ready to go to Africa for the month.

I have never met anyone at San Antonio Mission, I've never been there in this life time. I would so love to go there to just see if anything should happen spiritually with me. Sadly, I am unable to take anyone in my birth family with me now that I'm no longer in contact with them.

All of this too, is why I also believe that whatever we need to learn for oursselves, should be our own answers. Even if we're surrounded by family, friends, etc. It's really just for our own personal views. That is what I believe, "soul searching" truely means. We are the only ones using our own minds, body and soul, and heart. No one else. We can share the experience (or try to) with others, but only our "selves" can truely understand what our own lives mean.

Speaking as an artist myself, I think Mr. Isaac has trust issues and getting phone calls in foreign languanges doesn't help resolve those issues. I would tell you to have Ando-san translate and pass your message on to the comic artist, but I'm not so sure he wouldn't take it on himself to rephrase your words in a way he might think Mr. Isaac would listen to more readily. Something might get lost in the process, possibly the sense of urgency that he'd need to truly understand the real danger he's in.

Hajememashta doozoyorishiku.
Ogenki, desu-ka?
First may I apologize for my poor language skills, it has been many ages sine I have spoken Nihongo.
I, like you, am a traveler and I know of you. I am bound by many laws and may not speak of what I know however I can say that all that happens is meant to be. Each choice you make in using your gifts, and they are gifts, will make you stronger, this is how you gain experience. Each choice allows you to advance in skill and knowledge.
To ask for forgiveness for being human I will not accept for we are all human and bound by human failings. Temptations are there to make you stronger as long as you learn from them, which I see you have.
You, above all, have the most powerful gift, and also the most dangerous. You have seen the future, what to do about it is up to you. I know that, within you, is the hero that you are meant to be. And I know that you will find that hero, but not before you are tempered by human temptations.
Enough lecture for now, Nakamura-san. For what you will do I say now,

And again I apologize for my sad language skills.

Hmmm, I wonder if there are Dungeon Masters in real life. If there are I doubt they would be the one in need of rescue. Keep trying to get through to this Mr. Isaku! I hope he can help with your mission!!

Well, it IS wrong to use the powers for personal gain, though the important thing is that you learned from it and is guilty about it?

But you can stop time for twenty seconds now? That's awesome.***\(^o^)/*** Longer than Joutarou! Or Dio!^^/

Hopefully Isaku-san won't be that much like Boingo and hide from all you guys O_O though he's starting to kinda show those signs and being all secluded...

Posted By YoukoFujima | 10:16 AM

Me again. Sorry I was harsh in my earlier response. I guess it stems from the fear that you revealed a power to a friend that should have been kept a secret. He's willing to use your powers for ill gain. Its true that you need money and you had enough the first time, but you kept on playing long afte you didn't need to.
What will happen when you refuse to use your powers anymore? Will he turn on you? Who knows?

  Posted By Marvel_girl33 | 10:01 AM

Please, it's not like you killed anyone. Besides, the casinos in Vegas were corrupted well before you ever got there.

You've talked a lot about Peter Parker/Spiderman and Final Fantasy. In all honesty, I find you are more like Naruto. Both of you know you have the power to become the best. Even though you are a little misguided in the use of your power at first, I know you will do the right thing. Never say 'I can't.' unless you are saying it to someone who keeps asking you to cheat at gambling! :)

Don't lose hope, Hiro-kun! We're all rooting for you!

Posted By Tiffany | 02:44 AM

Yo Hiro-san! If someone hasn't mentioned this already, why don't you have Ando-san talk to Isaac since he knows English? Also, if time is of the essence, why not fly to New York immediately now that you have some spending money?

And how come your bad future self doesn't have the dragon-headed highlander katana? Wouldn't it be a more appropriate weapon? In any case, I'd love to see FutureHiro pause time, carve up a baddie like a Thanksgiving turkey with his blade, unpause time, then watch his opponent fall apart into a pile of body parts all with FutureHiro seemingly not moving a muscle. Gruesome for sure but it's in keeping with the show’s theme.

Also I loved how they had Tranzor Z figures for sale when you rescued that girl from getting hit by the truck! I want one!

Hiro, I know there are no save points in real life, but with your powers, there is something you can do from a video game. Have you ever played Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time? In that game, whenever yo umake a mistake or get into a tight spot, you can rewind time to a point when you're out of danger, then try again and not mess up. I think you should learn how to do this in case you ever miss a punch or fidn oyurself falling into a pit of spikes.

Posted By Hydragon | 02:03 AM

Don't be so hard on yourself Hiro. Although you're a superhero now you are still Human. Eveyone slips every now and then.

Posted By Silent Bob | 01:57 AM

Everyone shut up! Hiro didn't do anything wrong, how is he freakin suppose to live to save New York? Donations? Think again.. like his friend said, this is his system to survive! Use that money to help your cause Hiro! You are doing the right thing!

Posted By Inigo Montoya | 01:05 AM

Ganbatte, Hiro-kun!

You realized it was wrong to use your powers like that, so it's all good :D

BTW, I hope you're okay from getting punched! That looked like it hurt a lot!

Posted By Crantastic | 12:56 AM

oh Hiro-san. Do not worry about to muchabout the wrong you have done. You have already learned that it was not something you should have done. With this lesson you are well on your way to becaoming the hero you are meant to be.
But back to to comic. It sent you to vegas for a reason, and I do not think that it was just for a lesson on life, or a test of your moral strength. I believe there may be something important that you must accomplish there, much like the little girl you save from the truck. There may be some there for you to save. Just remember though, that there is more to saving someone, than to just pull them out of the way of physical harm. You can save someone emotionally or spiritually as well, or even set an example for the heroes of tomorrow.
good luck with your adventure, Hiro-san.
and rembember this:
The journey of a hero is not the adventures he takes, but the life he lives.

Hiro,

Me again. I think you should find Niki, that girl Ando-kun has been watching on his phone. She has a tatoo on her back that looks just like a painting in Mr. Isaku's studio.(Big coinkydink.)Ask her what it means. I believe it may have to do with the fact she has an alter ego (It certainly looks that way, sort of like a halfway drawn yin-yang symbol.)

Also, she was caught on camera with the politician Nathan Petrelli. Find out as much about him as possible. He won(wins)the election in a landslide four weeks from now, which is the day New York goes nuclear.(HUGE coinkydink.)

Anyways, I'll be back tomorrow. I'm headed for bed.

Hope my advice helps.

Hiro--

First, you are correct that using your powers for personal gain is a huge mistake. And contrary to those who are trying to make you feel okay with yourself--I don't think you ought to let it go that easily.

It is a very, very easy step from using it for 'anonymous' personal gain (such as winning a hand at poker) to 'intimate' personal gain (such as freezing time just to look at naked women in the shower).

You are not fallen to the Dark Side yet. But you must be much more careful in the future. There will be many tests, as you say, and some of them will be much more subtle than this one was.

The only option you have is to ALWAYS choose the option that is best for mankind...even if it hurts your own personal life.

Most of the people here haven't begun to change like you and I--so they cannot understand the pressures it puts on us.

Now I have a question for you:

Do you think this is happening randomly? Or are the changes in mankind happening for a purpose? I ask because each of the people I've talked to so far seems to have at least one connection to another person who's changing. And while you may have heard of the '6 Degrees of Separation/Kevin Bacon'...this seems more like some weird form of destiny.

Or like the way writers bring together a Super-Hero team in a comic or movie.

It's worrying me, somewhat--because if there IS a destiny factor, then you are correct: There is, indeed, a Dungeon Master somewhere.

And that Dungeon Master hasn't yet told us what our goal is--except to save New York.

Continue stretching your powers, Hiro. And stay on the right path.

Contact me when you need help. I'll be there.

Posted By UnseenPresence | 10:41 PM

Hiro! What would Chrono do? jump headlong into the fight of course! Also the sword you're carrying...is it the Rainbow? Can you do Triple Techs with other Heroes?

Ah, Nakamura-san. Be a little more careful next time, ne?

Remember, when Peter Parker used his powers for personal gain, his Uncle paid the price.
With great power comes great responsibility. (and hopefuly spell check.) Everyone makes mistakes, just learn from them and do NOT repeat them.

Posted By Crystal | 10:26 PM

It looks like karma came back and hit Hiro in the face pretty hard, though. It's like Ando said, every hero has a system. You can't be a superhero and not have money, otherwise you can't do anything anyway. ^.^;;;

I think the message for Peter is that he's got the same abilities as Sylar. When he's around Nathan, he flies; after he came in contact with Issac, he drew a picture of his future -though, it was rendered in stick figure.

Peter thought his ability was flying, but it's not. The sooner he figures it out, the better -maybe that's what Hiro from the future went back to tell Peter.

You should try reading the "Incarnations of Immortality" series by Piers Anthony for ideas on how to better use your powers, especially the second book, which deals with a man who becomes Chronos, and has the ability to control time. Though at least you don't have his problem of living backwards to everyone else.

Posted By Charles | 08:58 PM

Don't worry Hiro-kun! You can still become a great superhero. Just try not to listen to Ando-san too much.

Posted By Sarah | 08:53 PM

You shouldn't let Ando push you around so much. He just might get you in trouble.

I also have to admit with both of you in those suits reminded me of that scene in "Rain Man" with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman to a tee.

I just hope your journey to New York to meet Isaku-san is a success. If not, even I might be in trouble...

Posted By Nisshoku | 08:49 PM

Hiro,

As I've said before, there are choices in our lives we make. Any choice is a decision we've made, and must "learn" from it. How we act affects everyone and everything around us, and visa versa.

And, maybe you should start asking yourself instead this question: "What would Hiro do?"

Don't beleive Mr.Bennet his time I got proof from wikipedia. Its best you stay in Vegas until I find out the message on monday the 23rd or you meet Niki, Now heres that proof.
. He is a mysterious man also known as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses"[1] due to his style of eye wear and the mystery surrounding his character. The adoptive father of Claire Bennet, he first appeared at the Indian apartment of the late Chandra Suresh and followed the man's son, Mohinder, to New York. He is revealed to be fully aware of Claire's abilities by the second episode, having apparently stolen the tape that Zach filmed. In the fourth, he has captured Matt Parkman and tests him, with help from the mysterious man that knocked Matt out in the third episode. Later, he apparently tells this man to capture either Niki Sanders or Nathan Petrelli after finding them in bed together

Hiro, mudslides contain alcohol and chocolate, though it is good with the challanges you will soon face, it wouldnt be a wise idea to drink them, a drunk super hero is a bad super hero.

Traveling time like Chrono did, though it seems like a good idea, can be dangerous at times. So when you do be careful okay? You dont want to do something you think is helping, and accidently do something that messes it up. Time traveling is a great power, but a very dangerous one also.

I wouldnt worry about sword training, I'm sure when the time is right it will come to you naturally, just don't get cocky and think that you can slice open bunches of metal or do some crazy sword dance like on Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Keep it up Hiro.

Hiro, We love you but you need to temper the urge to use your power for the wrong reasons. I can understand wanting to make some money from those dirty casinos (god knows they have taken a lot of my own money), but use that money for your journey and missions. Las Vegas is only but one point in your journey. Spend wisely. I loved the ending when you showed up all wise (speaking perfect english!) with your cool Matrix like uniform. "Make him look bad" and you acheived that! NICE! Be mindeful of the elements that surround you Hiro and practice your powers so you can master them quickly. You will need them soon and often.
** REMEMBER: You hay have fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the Staying down. Yes, you were tested, but learn from that Hiro.

You should train Ando in your abilities so he can always be your back up. You never know when he might need to take over for you like Psylocke did for Captain Britain. If you can freeze time, there's gotta be other people with abilities. Guess you'll need to watch out for the Dark Pheonix. Anyone mentioned Shi'ar, you might want to get away from them. :>

Perhaps the trip to Vegas had 2 purposes: 1) to see if you refine, or burn away as impurities in the fire of good of evil. 2) to further train your abilities. Anyone can do things in a controlled environment. It's anoter matter to use your abilties in a stress filled, dire situation.

Have you considered going back in time to learn Kenjutsu / Bushido?

Another thing,

You did do something somewhat hero-like during the roulette thing. You saved someone's drink! Cheer up, Hiro!(Although you did eat the olive.)

  Posted By WizeGuy147 | 05:05 PM

Hiro, everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. Cheating while in Vegas wasn't the right thing to do, but don't worry about it--learn from it, and keep going. I think the punch to the face is punishment enough for you.
While you're waiting to talk to Issac, try calling Peter Petrelli. He'll believe you, i think.
And a mudslide is a really good drink, but be careful not to have too many--they do have alcohol in them.

Posted By Sheena | 05:03 PM

Hiro,
I saw you take cards out of somebody's hand. I think that might be too obvious of a move. Next time just draw from the deck. And don't spend too much time in Vegas, you need to get going!

Posted By Mark | 04:54 PM

Don't worry about it, Hiro-kun. I forgive easy. We're all human, powers or not, and we make mistakes. The best thing to do is learn from it and move on. You're right, though. Cheating is very unhero-like. Still, considering Ando-san had just bet your last dollar, I don't see how you could have gotten out of it. On the other hand, I think you probably could have put your foot down with Ando after a while. After all, you're the hero and he's just a guy who happens to speak English better than you.

You haven't gone over to the Dark Side, Hiro. True, you failed a test of character, but it was worth it. Remember how, when Peter Parker's actions cost his uncle his life, it was good for him because it effected his life positively. He never forgot "With great power comes great responsibility." That goes for you too, btw. Anyway, look at this as your "Uncle Ben" moment. This is where you decide what kind of hero you're going to be. Okay?

Regarding Karma, I'm sure something will happen that will help you to feel better. If it doesn't, though, I would do what you could to make up for it, like heading straight for New York with whatever money you have left. I hope, thanks to Ando-san, that you don't end up hitch hiking.

Regarding your power, keep on practicing. Practice teleporting once in a while, too. You have these gifts for a reason and it won't help you if you can't use them with any reasonable amount of ease. 20 seconds is better than 5, too. You remember you said you held it for five seconds the last time. So remember to pat yourself on the back for that, Hiro-kun.

I think maybe Mr. Isaku probably is busy with something and hasn't checked his messages yet. Don't let it bother you. Just pack up your stuff and hurry down to New York so you can show him the comic book. But, no, I don't think he's the Dungeon Master. I think he's just as much in the dark about what's going on here as you are.

I agree, you and Ando shouldn't have that money, but now that you have it, try to rein Ando-san in a little so that you'll have enough money for gas, supplies and tolls, later. That way you won't have to do it again. Seriously, Hiro-kun, rein that guy in.

Also, while you're travelling, get Ando-san to teach you a little more English. The more you learn, the less you'll need him. (Don't let him know that though. Some people are touchy about being needed.)

If real life could be "savegamed" it would take up more Megs than would fit on five top of the line harddrives. That's what I think. Life is different than games. Don't worry, though. It's all saved in your head. Too bad it's Read-Only Memory and not Random Access.

A mudslide and a landslide are two very different things, Hiro-kun. Seriously. You can win an election by a landslide, generally that means you got most or all the votes. A mudslide, I'm told, is an alcoholic beverage. Stay away from those, if you can. One of you needs to be responsible and it may as well be you, Hiro-kun.

Take care of yourself, okay? You know we're counting on you to help save the world so travel safely.

Your friend,
Mrs. Pratt

  Posted By WizeGuy147 | 04:54 PM

(hugs) It's ok, Hiro. We forgive you. I don't really believe in karma. Bad things don't always happen because you're bad. Sometimes we can't explain why bad things happen. I believe if you are truly sorry and won't do it again, you'll be ok. In fact, we have a pretty good feeling that things are going to turn out alright. ;) I just hope you're alright after that guy hit you.

A mudslide is also kinda like a landslide. Do you know what an avalanche is? A mudslide is like an avalanche, only there's no snow. I don't think they use "mudslide" for elections because it's a natural disaster, something bad, you know. The loser doesn't get any kind of slide. They stand still, I guess.

And hey, I like your RPG comparisons to life. It's an interesting philosophy, kinda fills it with wonder and magic.

go go hiro keep practicing and you'll master ur powers greatly...if u keep worring about right and wrong its going to slow u down so full steam ahead, keep practice high, and if theres any trouble rewind with ur mind =).......good luck

Keep on with your quest. We all get tempted by the dark side but you are strong!

Posted By SkyWalker | 04:49 PM

go go hiro! You did what was right, what needed to be done, so suck it up and stop by on the way to NYC so we can save the world!

Hiro-san! How was your day?

[[Mudslides are tasty.]]
[[Landslides are not.]]
[[Karma only exists for Carson Daly. And Earl Hickey.]]

Jojo is off having his own Adventures right now.

By the way, have you ever remember a character of Future Trunks [未æ¥ã®ãƒˆãƒ©ãƒ³ã‚¯]? His time is filled with danger, but he journies to the past to help, but not change, his future. He is most recognized by a weapon that is passed down from hero to hero on his back...

Posted By pakopako | 04:26 PM

it's all right, you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. you're trying to live by a code of behavior for situations you never expected to be in, so it's natural you'll mess up a little.
don't linger on your mistakes, just learn from them and continue on your mission. you're a hero already.

Posted By lowercase | 04:24 PM

Consider the following:
a) You apparently have this power to benefit mankind. How will you benefit mankind starving in the street? You needed the cash MORE than anyone else at that table. If it makes you feel better, Hiro, donate the remainder to charity. It even makes for good promotion for your powered identity. But by all means, don't overdo it.

b) Consider the kind of things people will do to continue gambling at a casino. They sell everything, take loans from questionable people, put themselves in bad places, or worse, start working for those bad people, all to live large another ten minutes? That's what they PROFIT on. So that money was gained in a questionable way, at best.

c) It doesn't matter because you have to stop a bomb from destroying New York. Morals are out of the question. If you need money, you need money. Let the baka no amerikajin that want to gamble away their futures finance a REAL hero for once.

Look, in all reality, the money you took and bought clothes with would have been spent on some vice for the wealthy anyway. If you buy gas, food, and a suit, better it goes to you than some hentai with a taste for little girls.

Until next time, good luck. By the by, wanna score me some winning lottery numbers? I'll finance your trip if you bag the Washington Powerball for me. :D

Hiro! anyone would have done the same!!

but as for karma striking back fast...

what about that punch in the noggin that ando gave you? :P you can consider that karma if you really want ^^

Posted By Mike | 04:12 PM

You did wrong, but at least you realized and kept it under control. You could have been robbing a bank!

Here, take this phoenix down, you need it more than I do.

Posted By Walker | 04:09 PM

I'll admit that I was kind of disappointed when you fixed the game...but I can understand why you fixed it the first time. That was the last of your money, and you can't save the world when you can't even help yourself.

You made a mistake, but you knew it was wrong and learned from it. That's the important part...^___^ Don't defeat yourself!

Keep practicing. You're really starting to get the hang of your power - and in such a short time! I know I'm impressed.

Oh, and don't lose sight of Ando. I have a feeling you may need to get him out of trouble soon. Very soon.

We're rooting for you, Hiro! Super Hiro all the way! ^0^

By the way, I think someone already asked this, but would it be possible for your blog to have an RSS feed? I don't know how to set such a thing up because ny own blog is only for friends so I never needed one. But yours is so popular I'm sure a lot of us would use it.

Posted By Furu | 03:49 PM

Hope you didn't end up with a black eye after that back alley bop to the melon!

Posted By Heroesfan | 03:42 PM

I won't pretend that I am not a disappointed in you, but at least you've realized what was wrong pretty quickly. But one of the things I most admire about you is that you use your knowledge of comic books to explore your new abilities, including the morals that all heroes shuold have. At least this times you were only cheating the casino, which is a big rich thing that usually wins. But I'd be careful because secutiry at those places is REALLY good. I mean I guess it would be hard for -you- to get caught, but they really have cameras everywhere so any little weird thing might be noticed.

That makes me worry even more - do you really think you should say exactly where you are in blogs? Saying you're in Vegas is vague enough, but you actually said the name of the casino you're in and everything. I'd hate for tabloid newspapers or some weird government agency (I'm not sure I believe in such things, but if they do exist they might be interested in you) to take an interest in you and slow you down.

Haha, I didn't know a mudslide was a drink either. I was going to tell you that literally it is the same as a landslide, and if you were still in California you should watch out for them. But not in the desert. But a drink called that might be pretty intense. If you have one please be careful (oh dear, can you imagine your powers performed by a drunk person?) but if Ando-san is driving maybe try just one!

But practicing is a better idea. You know, the upside to your abilities is that you can practice them all you want and not waste any time - well, at least 'normal' time. I guess you still tire at the rate your body is or even faster since you might be using energy? But what I mean is you can practice your abilities as much as you want and not be any closer to the nuclear disater you need to avert. That's pretty convenient. I know when I tried to play one of the Final Fantasy games (maybe it was 7? Sorry I'm not as big of a fan as you so I don't remember) I could never even get past the first level because there was some countdown to a big disaster but I could never level up to get to top of the mountain to stop it fast enough.

Anyhow, I'm rambling much too much again. Until we meet again, ãŒã‚“ã°ã£ã¦ï¼

Moderation!

Posted By ニオジャヌス | 03:39 PM

I told you you should keep an eye on Ando-kun! Seriously! He's like a kid in a candy store.

As to the using your powers for evil thing... don't worry. Everyone makes mistakes. It's just human nature. And even if you have kick-ass powers you're still human. Just... kinda evolved.

Also, take the time to look around you some more. You should be looking for others like you. And you never know... they might be closer then you think. ^.~

How are you typing your messages in english when you can't speak the language?
That being said, I'm cheering you on! LOVE HEROES! Where's the theme song?

Posted By Darla | 03:25 PM

Oh! I forgot-
Make sure Ando-kun doesn't hog up all the EXP!

Griffin casts 'Redemption' on Hiro-san. Hiro-san is now cured of all Ailments and is fully healed!

Posted By Griffin | 03:24 PM

Hiro-san, You have not been tempted.

All heroes make mistakes.

it's just good that you learned your lesson.

And a 'mudslide' can be a kind of alchoholic drink~

Be sure to stayaway from those!

He not on the going to the dark side

  Posted By Juno1921 | 03:01 PM

Hiro its all right but at least you noticed. On the other hand almost every superhero at one time or another had a bad influence
from another party your friend. Your freind got you Knock out. But your the coolest out of all the heroes beacause time dosen't matter to you.

  Posted By Juno1921 | 03:00 PM

Welcome to the dark side

Posted By Bob | 02:49 PM

Don't worry Hiro. Even if you used your powers like this you at least realized it was wrong, and that's a very valuable virtue.

The mudslide is a drink. They are really yummy. ^__^

Keep at it Hiro-kun. We are all cheering for you!
