even corrected me on which issue Kitty Pride traveled back in time in.

I've travelled so far to meet my own personal destiny. Who knew? It's so
rare to find someone you connect with in the middle of nowhere. She was my
oasis.

And she's dead.

It happened so fast. Why? Why was she killed? Is this a test? Why must
something tragic always happen to the hero? Every time something good
happens to me, it never lasts. Is that what being a hero is all about? And
the way she was killed was too similar to how Mr. Isack was killed in the
future.

I've thought long. I don't have seven dragon balls to summon 神竜 but, I
have my own reset button. I've decided to go back to yesterday.

I can't let her die like that. I couldn't let her die. Yes, I might be
risking a rift, but if I can't use my power to save people, especially the
ones I love, I don't deserve them. I won't stand around like a bystander.
I refuse to be a coward. I refuse to not try.

And so here I am at the Burnt Toast diner. By my calculations, about one
day in the past. My time travel seemed to have worked. Charlie is alive.
That's all that matters.

I will be come back to the present to continue my mission. I will save the
cheerleader. I will meet Mr. Isack. I will save the world. But please let
me be selfish. Let me save Charlie.

Maybe someone here has already remarked upon this, but I think Gabriel *Sylar* (loved how he derived that name) is fascinating in his dark complexity. His *ability* is that he is an extraordinary Watchmaker. He can *see* how things work, how they are slightly off (remember the episode where Chandra Suresh & Gab rial meet?), and how they should be.

It appears to Sylar that every hero is an abnormality in the human gene pool that Suresh was able to id via his genetic research, & it's his mission to remove them from the gene pool. He discovered his ability when he met his first other identified gene abnormality & could tell what was *off* in the guys head & fixed it, thus killing him. That's how he killed Charlie, isn't it?

I feel sad for Hiro because going into the past won't save Charlie, nothing will, because of the inoperable blood clot next to her aneurysm. Maybe that's part of why the Hiro of the future lost the soft round features & looked lean, as if he'd been though some challenging & maturing times. The ongoing battles between good & evil will always make wonderful drama, but in my opinion this is one of the better ones. I love the interplay of lightness with some characters (Hiro, we all love you) & the darkness of others, Sylar, & the ones that leave us continually guessing if they are good or bad in relation to our beloved hero, Hiro.

Hiro I understand how you must feel. The reason you can't save Charlie is because if you were to stop Sylar the past would have been changed and if she had never died then you would have never needed to go back. It is a sad Paradox effect my friend. Read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells for further enlightenment on this effect. Perhaps knowing this will allow you some pease. Remember there is always the future.

The scriptwriters made this whole time travel thing more confusing than it really is. The point is that the whole time travelling aspects are all wrong, which is why when the two epsodes are linked together nothing makes sense and everyone gets confused and come up with weird theories. I hope the next time they do something like this the plots will be organized so there's no confusion!

Charlie did know Hiro in the future. She did not tell him that she knew him. In there first conversation she told him that a friend gave her a book about the Japanese language. Also she made comments to him that she loved the way he looked when he concentrated right before she died. She also went straight to him and knew what he likes to eat when Hiro and his friend came into the restaurant. Charlie knew him from 6 month ago. Right after he left for the past they flicked to the picture of Hiro and Charlie on her birthday. I think Charlie knew she was going to die soon that is why she kept on going to work. Hiro powers is just developing, he has not learned to control them. In the future I think he can control his moving through time and space, that is how he has gone to meet Peter.
Peter’s power is some what like Sylar, but Sylar’s whole thing is, fixing things, and knows exactly how things work. He has the ability to engineer everyone’s power by looking at the activity in the brain. I have not figured out what he is doing with everyones brain. I think Micah has the same power he has the ability to see what is wrong with things and fix the problem but he is an upgraded version of Sylar.

hey hiro, i think that you should name your sword after charlie. this way you will have her spirit with you always giving you more strength. your enemies would run in fear knowing that charlie was about to kill them.

Don't try it. If you accidently go too far back you might get stuck there. My advice is to go back to the future and complete your mission.

Hold on, I just had a revalation. This is all Chandra Suresh's fault. If he hadn't thought Gabriel (the watchmaker) was a special person with superpowers, than Gabriel would not have gone crazy about knowing that he didn't have powers (Chandra was wrong) and he would have not killed Brian Davis for his telekinisis. And if he didn't kill Brian Davis for telekinisis and he would not have those powers, he would not be Sylar in the first place. He wouldn't kill people for their powers. I think he only killed Charlie because he may have wanted to remember who he killed. Alright, for a point-blank bottom line, Gabriel the watchmaker is Sylar (for those of you who have missed the last episode.) Too bad Charlie's dead. That sucks. And Chandra looked like an innocent character too. And because he's dead, this could prove to be a problem because he was one of the people who could have stopped Sylar. Man, every time I hear 'Sylar' I get chills. What a creepy name...Sylar...
Could Gabriel's power (before becoming Sylar) be acquiring other people's powers by killing them and taking their brains? This seems like an intense version of Peter Petrelli, only Peter didn't kill anyone to use their powers. And when he did use other people's powers, he didn't steal them. He also had to be around them for it to work. For me, that would be a pretty weak power because you would first have to be near another superhuman, second, you would have to figure out how to use their powers, and third, once they go away, you don't have their powers anymore. For once, Sylar's position seems prety appealing in terms of powers.

Go Hiro! Charlie is such a cute character, I would hate to see her die. I like her powers to remember everything. That would be pretty cool if I could remember everything and ace every exam! Too bad I can't though. But if I could, I would use your power to go back in time to retake the exams. **Thinks out loud again** But if I go back, will I cause a rift? And if that happens, will I have to take all those tests again? Anyway...

Perhaps this time around in the story - Marle dies and not Chrono? I dont know if there's a time egg for you to find but it is possible, isnt it? Who knows what the next chapter will tell us.

The best you can do is keep moving and keep honing your abilities so when the time comes you're able to save those you care about. Cloud didn't give up and neither should you.

There must be a reason why you jumped 6 months back... Please don't let the loss consume you. You're such a pure and bright spirit, if you give up then what hope do any of us have? You've already saved her, Hiro.

Remember when you said that time moves in a circle? Well, if you preceded yourself in Charlie's perspective, then she'd already know who you were when you met her the "first time" for you, the day of her death.

So, you've already changed the past. My guess is that she may have faked her death to throw her would-be killer off her trail. Since you were insistent that a man was going to kill her on the day in question, and she was convinced of your power in the origami crane stunt and through your foreknowledge of "the Swallow slaying the Dragon", she could not have helped but been more cautious.

Perhaps when you return to the present timeline you should be more careful in researching the details of "what happened" in the perspectives of those less mobile in spacetime. My guess is that Charlie, already diagnosed with a "blood clot in her brain", has a more than adequate "cover story" with which to fake her death.

Ask around how she died, Hiro. Make sure before assuming that your past is the same as everyone else's. I'm nearly certain that your memories would remain unchanged, as you didn't remember calling yourself six months in the past: I certainly would have remembered getting a brief phone call from MYSELF.

I, too, have wished to fix some things I actually was able to go back and try to change. And like you, I also discovered that you really can change nothing but the future. It's funny...when I was a kid, I wanted to be able to fly. Gah! Aw, poor Charlie and poor Hiro! That whole story is so lovely and sad——A true knight's errand——I laughed and then cried for them. Ok, so really I laughed for Hiro talking to himself on the phone (Great Scott!) but Charlie and Hiro were just so wonderful for each other. I'm going to have to hope they have a real future in some alternate parallel universe or something. I hope Hiro at least got a chance to get back to Texas to say goodbye to Charlie properly. How heart-wrenching to be pulled away like that...

And why can't theaters were I live had movie festivals showing Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, AND Hidden Fortress? Kurasawa = awesome.

I'm keeping my hope alive for Hiro's happiness, but the pain is helping him along his path to greatness. We can't acheive great highs without suffering terrible lows; the universe finds a balance and light and dark must be equal to keep it steady. Still, I want there to be more moments of great triumph for my favorite hero.

HIro...job well done! Although you could not stop the death, something that is inevitable, and a power that can evolve not just powers but can also attract diseases and harmful energy to the body said the "Dr." it can produce death, which explains the flow of blood from the waitress head, her clogged up head finally popped like a pimple. Powers come with a price and most of the heroes will die before knowing their abilities.(Maybe they were not meant to be? Maybe the fewer the better?!) Can you imagine the complexity of the story line tracking the lives of so many heroes. Its not impossible but it would just complicate everything. I said earlier a good job because you did what most of us could not do and that is fight for the life of a stranger and having the courage to face a door with unknown possibilities. I commend your effort and courage. It has just prepared you for the future. "What does not kill you makes you stronger."

Sylar on the other hand, is killing others and is making him stronger. (jealousy can kill anything)

The story line is as straight and narrow as an arrow. The target is wide spread but the characters along with the entire crew is doing a great job with the story and its time line. I am able to remember every scenario that was taken back six months. I remember it as if it happened yesterday.(I hope everyone else can follow through!)

Achillez -- Your 4th point -Did you forget the 2nd episode where Sylar is using some kind of mind control on the FBI woman and the mind-reading policeman? He also runs up a wall to get away, and seems to be only slowed down by bullets. Earlier in the episode at the crime scene, one of the bodies is frozen. This all appears to show that Sylar is stealing other's powers. This latest episode even gives us more insight. My guess is that he has to touch the brain to understand what is causing their power, and once he knows he can manipulate his own DNA to copy it.

Who's going to die next week? Here are my guesses:
1. Nikki's husband. The obvious choice since he has a gun pointed at him at the end of this last episode. But I think that's a misdirection ploy so he probably will survive.
2. The cop.
3. Sylar.

There has got to be a way for Hiro to save the cheerleader.

He went into the future and saw the atomic blast and is doing things that will prevent it (save the cheerleader, save the world). If he is able to prevent that future event he witnessed from happening then there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to prevent Charlie's murder. As a time traveller it's not like he has a home time period anymore. He still hasn't regained those days he lost when he teleported back from New York - he's farther into the future than he would naturally be if he couldn't time travel. He's in 'the future'. If the atomic blast can be stopped then Charlie can be saved from Sylar - fate or no fate.

I don't think the writers will let it happen... the Hiro/Ando duo works so well and adding Charlie would mess it up - but I think Hiro's got to take a page out of Chrono Trigger and master his time traveling power and then take his stab at creating the ideal timeline. It might sound like playing god, but it is also Hiro's responsibility. As a hero he has to do what he can to make the world better.

yes even from humanistic and scientific standpoints there are the factors of the (sub)conscious and the empirical notions, which tells us the unknown and spiritual exists in some form. the sciences and religious concepts are intertwined. they can't exist alone- the sciences help us to understand the basics of metaphysics and leads us to the foggier realm which goes beyond the mind's creation of time and space.

Hiro, remember that time bends - thus so does reality as we know it. In your case Hiro, two reality timelines exist. The existing one with charlie being killed and an altered one where you try to save her. For each reality there is a positive and negative path that is pre-determined in space and time. Think of it as a storybook - which has both a sad and happy ending.Thus in Charlies case- you could shift between the realities - going forward or backward; but the end result would always be the same. Charlie would die - depending on the reality chosen and the path followed positive/negative).
Each of us has a pre-determined path forged in time - how we choose to deal with it, reality etc.. is the only varible. For man to survive two things must happen - get all with abilities interlocked in the same reality and path - and somehow awaken those whose abilities are yet untapped. DNA - is the model and key to unlock our fate.

I just finished watching tonight's episode, and I must say that I don't really believe that you ever really could save Charlie in the first place. I mean, sure you loved her, but you do have a mission to follow through with. I'm sorry you could'nt save her, but I really think that she was just a distraction from your prime directive.

Anyway, I'm sorry you could'nt help her, and I hope that you will be strong and continue on your quest. The cheerleader has been saved, BUT, there may be something else lurking behind her. Keep on keepin' on, and watch your back, something big is about to happen.

It’s Monday night, 11/27/06 at 10:13 pm EST. I want to establish this time reference for any of you who may to teleporting back and forth. I’ve watched tonight’s episode “Six Months Ago” and gained valuable backstory on the main characters (Claire, Hiro, Niki, and the Petrelli brothers). While the others with powers (Sylar, The Cop, Claire’s Dad’s Assistant, Isaac, etc.) are somewhat interesting and move the story along to a degree, the Top Level in the Heroes Organizational Chart reign supreme. Claire’s Dad, Micah and his Phase shifting Dad, the Burnt Toast Diner Waitress with her eidetic memory and translation skills are merely props to move us, the viewers, further along on the path. This is evidenced in the teaser for next week’s episode, the final one for the season: one of the heroes is killed.

Obviously, only one of the second or third level characters in the program is eligible for removal. I ask you: would NBC dare to remove one of the most popular characters in recent prime time television history? I only can only identify one of the characters as “The Cop” as an example of this cognitive disconnect. Sure, the man can “hear” the thoughts of those around him. But as evidenced in his encounter with the convenience store robber, The Cop doesn’t know how to maintain the integrity of crime scene evidence. Even a rookie cop or arm-chair detective would know to NOT handle the weapon of a suspected (or actual) felon. Yet, after eavesdropping on the strung out perp’s thoughts, The Cop blithely took the gun from him and gave him this happy talk: “You don’t really want to do this…blah, blah, blah.” Please.

My allegiance is clearly with the main tier of the storyline. The Cheerleader, Hiro and Ando, and the Petrelli Brothers draw everyone and everything else about this wondrous and fantastic storyline into focus. We (I) am drawn to the program simply because we (I) want to know how they deal with the knowledge of their powers. Even Mohindar, the disaffected son of the researcher who postulates the existence of these rare beings, is somewhat superfluous (although he is a hottie). I have not been this wrapped up in prime time television since I can’t remember when. The major networks, cable entities and independent film concerns should pay heed to this program. It has tapped into an underlying need for Everyday Heroes. ‘nuff said…

Watching this program is like speaking to someone who can’t make their point. Watching this program is like speaking to someone that likes to hear them selves talk.
I thought I would give the show a shot; watch for an episode or two. I think NBC should put old Bob Ross “How to Paint,” in Heroes place, it would be more exciting and makes a point each and every episode.

Has anyone even figured out this basic plot point? Future Hiro has to send a message to Peter in his past because the future is screwed up.

Why was the future screwed up? Because in the first version of the future, Sylar not only killed Charlie, but also Claire as well.

Why did Sylar succeed? Because in that path, Hiro was unable to save Claire because he had gone back to save Charlie and was thus not there to save Claire.

I'll be interested in seeuing where you really end up, Hiro.

whats good people? I love Heroes, i stopped watchin tv shows for a long time but I love this show. I have some theories of my own. first off, I dont think Eden, Mr. Bennets assistant is evil. she cares for Isaac, and by the way her powers are pursusion, like the jedi mind trick. Second, jessica is Nikki's sister, who died some time ago, and somehow inhibited Nikki's body. If u watch the preview for 6 months, you'll see a tombstone for Jessica and it says beloved daughter and sister. third, I think Sylar was a frind to Mohinder's father Shandra, I think thats his name. If u listen to the message on his answer machine back in like the second or third episode, he says why wont u talk to me any more, and u made me this way. Fourth who says Sylar has the powers to steal other peoples powers? all I've seen him do so far is move things, with his hands/mind. and also who says he eats the brains, he's not some alien or something. Fifth,I agree when Hakrev in that Hiro might have gone into the future when trying to return to the present. I think maybe he tried to tell the waitress what was going to happen to her but maybe she thought he was threatening her and the broke up. or he told her what he can do, and it weirded her out. Sixth, when Hiro came back to talk to Peter, he was lookin warrior like, so maybe he had infact entered an alternate reallity, but learned how to switch realities in doin his time travel.One more thing, that radiation guy, i believe he has something to do with the explosion in NY. Just a thought, but it seems to me that they did not in fact save the cheerleader. No one specified who the cheerleader was, whether it was super-claire, or another. And in Issac's painting, it didn't really look just like Claire, similar, but it could have been any blonde cheerleader. So the world is still doomed, but Hiro will save all. Hiro can and will with help from others, save the world!

I agree with the splicing of the timeline, that he is back but somewhere else, of course this might be the time of his jump to the future, which explains why he's not returned to the present yet. remember when he jumps the timeline he's always a bit off.

Your power is amazing, and very very dangerous. It's possible you Are back in the present... in another time line! I hope you can bounce between those too. If you change the past so that it affects you, then the timelines might split into two alternate realities!

I think Hiro was so upset about the guys he had not saved last time, that he unconsciously gone to the time he can truelly save them : I think he will change some important things, like murders of DL team by jessica (which leaded to the slautery of the poker boys), possibly nathan's wife accident... this kind of stuff. If you look closely you'll see that most events are six months ago consequencies.
Or maybe i'm just a huge hiro's fan...

Hiro is the cutest / superhero anime manga otaku. Find myself rooting for him every day. In high school when things were bad I always wished I could be a superhero. Haha, he beat me to it!

I'm surprised more people didn't notice. Hiro has already saved Marle. The picture that people take for her death picture is now her "bon voyage" picture. She isn't dead, she just left town after Hiro went back and helped her discover her true potential. If you want confirmation, notice that when Ando talks to the waitress about the picture, she isn't sad at all. She would be sad if she really died 3 days earlier.

I think that Hiro deliberately chooses to leave the past (due to the reference that he "popped out of Charlie's life" weeks prior to her death.) I don't think Hiro would deliberately leave without a good reason. Charlie probably teaches Hiro some English for a while. Then I think that Hiro eventually tells Charlie the truth that he can warp time and space and to save the cheerleader, etc. Then 1) Charlie thinks he's a freak and tells him to leave or 2) Charlie accepts the facts, tells him that if it's her fate, then so be it, and tells Hiro to get back on track. P.S-I'm still in H.S but I get the time travel thing pretty well. I could rule out the idea of alternate dimension or alternate present/future timelines because of Hiro's appearance in the picture after he time travels and the waitress's references to Hiro being "real tight" with Charlie (after all, writing up a storyline with an alternate timeline would be too hard to incorporate throughout the entire series.Then we'd permanently lose Hiro to script writers!) Instead, I'm certain that anything that Hiro does in the past immediately affects the present/future. Therefore, the effects of his actions have already taken place in Ando's present. Charlie is still dead, though, which means Hiro left early. I could bet Hiro went too far (again!?! Come on, can someone fine tune his skill?) into the future and skips Ando's present. He probably meets up with Ando then. Also, the reference of the Japanese book that Charlie got for her birthday: I bet in the next episode Hiro digs it out of his pocket and gives it to her. However, in the previous episode it is stated that Charlie learned Japanese from it before Hiro went back. Most likely it's just a screw-up by the script writers who don't know much about time-travel.

Before Hiro jumped back, the photo of her birthday was on the wall WITHOUT Hiro in it. Now it's there WITH him. That means the effects of his journey had already gone through at that point. But Charlie's still dead (I considered that she might be living and has just gone home for the day, but the memorial is still on the wall), so he screwed up somehow.

Still, riddle me this... why isn't Ando affected by the time shift? If he's now in a timeline where everyone remembers Hiro showing up six months ago, then he should remember Charlie remembering Hiro from six months ago when he and Hiro showed up at the diner...

Why must something tragic always happen to the hero? Every time something good happens to me, it never lasts. Is that what being a hero is all about? firstly I am directing this to present day Hiro who is now 6 months in the past, SAVE CHARLIE, she is very important, then get your butt back to the present and get to the cheerleader, her father isnt what he seems to be, save the cheerleader, save the world.
After you save her then you and the others with powers will meet up. This is directed to the future Hiro with the sword, how about leaving more breadcrumbs for your presen self to find, maybe tips on how to control your gift, nice sword by the way. For those standing on a cliff looking over the edge, they will face the dragon's fire, they will not submit but will go forth and survive in the flames of the dragons breath.

I'm not sure what you mean by other blog posts....there's never been any other blog posts here.

Hiro! Going on a side quest to save a friend is an admirable mission, but you know the dangers. If something happens, it is always worse to go back in time and fix it. You have to save the cheerleader. Everything rests on this. Don't risk your mission on whether you can control your powers enough to teleport there. Get there by conventional means. It is not the way of a hero to risk everything by showing off.
You need to be more vigilant about the dangers of being a hero and warn those around you. Soon you will develop a newbie sense that will tell you when people are coming into their powers. Save them before Sylar can come after them. You are a hero and that means sometimes you have to guard heroes too.
Find Ando. Save the cheerleader. Save the world.

This is your trial. Prove that you are a hero. Form the Just Avengers!

This is going to be just like the most recent version of the Time Machine isn't it? You can't save Charlie's life because your trip back to help her is precipitated by her death. If that is the case, I feel really terrible because I immediately liked the Charlie character. The perfect love interest for Hiro arrives, and then she is promptly slain by Sylar. It's just a show, but that kind of made me sad. Knowing that Hiro would try to save her but likely be unable to do anything about it made me sadder.

At first I wanted to make a comment about how you should be sure not to forget your other missions - but that is the cold side of me. Another part of me, deeper inside, finds the fact that you'd go barreling back in time, something you're not that practiced at, to save a girl you'd only just met but obviously felt a lot for - and that struck me as terribly romantic.

And she has a wikipedia-like power? すごい。。。That sounds really neat to me (I'm a librarian).

I noticed the name of the episode coming a week from Monday is "Fallout". Hmmm... Could this refer to radioactive fallout from an explosion in NY? Perhaps the fallout from Hiro's blast to the past? The consequences of Peter saving the cheerleader and getting arrested? The mind boggles...

When you teleported into the future New York, you saw that Nathan Petrelli would be voted into office, saw yourself featured in a 9th Wonders! Comic Book, and found Issac's unfortunate fate. Now you are in the past Burnt Toast Diner, you've arived just in time for Charlie's birthday, and you've plenty of time to save her and brush up on your English. If time travel had chance invovled, you probably wouldn't have found yourself in either times and places. The title of the next episode is said to be, "Six Months Ago". By the way, you'll know Peter Petrelli by the scar.

As one or two people have pointed out, this blog is seen from the point of view of Hiro, and his original entries haven't been writen yet...
The reasoning behind why his original self hasn't seen this could be that he deletes it or gets it removed somehow to protect the timeline, or that he's a sort of nexus of time, and isn't affected by paradox (very much), that is, if he changes his original self so that he would be a different person, or that he would not have done the things he has done, the version of him that changed time will still exist, and there will also be a new version of him... This is unlike most versions of timetravel...

Yeah, so my theory is that Hiro partially ignores timetravel side-effects.

Also, it's possible that he could STILL save her, even though in Ando's present he hasn't.. The picture that didn't originally have him in it supports the idea that he exists almost in a seperate reality, he has a "present" that follows him around, and affects of time travel won't actually reach a certain time until he goes there.
In a game, Hiro would be the player.

Here's MY theory:

Hiro travels back in time 6 months to Charlie's birthday. He doesn't mean to go back this far, but because he seems to only be able to work on what he can see (and if he saw the birthday picture and remembers Charlie telling him that she got the Japanese book on her birthday) then that takes care of that.

So then, why isn't he back? Why isn't he back at the diner with Ando while everyone else seems to remember Hiro and Charlie being "tight" and Charlie is still dead?

Because six months ago, Hiro didn't have his powers. As we can see from the next ep. preview and the caption on the main NBC.com/Heroes page, it seems everyone suddenly developed their powers six months ago. Maybe not EVERYONE did, but it's obvious that the ones we are closely following did.

This would mean that Hiro can't come back to Ando even though he is changing the past little by little. As we also know, Hiro "pops out of" Charlie's life a few weeks prior to her death. And as his powers are coming into play (possibly hers as well) then the time lapse between our present and the one Hiro may be in makes sense.

Regardless, he will come back! I'm not 100% sure of how or if he can save Charlie (sometimes you have to leave fate alone), but he will rejoin Ando.

I was thinking that maybe Charlie doesn't remember Hiro because she got her mind erased by the black guy that works with HRG. Maybe at that time both her and Hiro were taken by HRG and that plays into why Hiro hasn't come back. the other waitress did say that Hiro dissapeared out of her life a couple weeks ago. does this mean he teleported, was captured, or they had a fight, maybe. then the mind wipe could have come after that.

if he went back in time six months, then this site is not real. his friend wouldn't be in texas, and he'd never remember hiro leaving. and really, if there were infinite timelines proposing infinite possibilities, then in some hiro wouldn't even be alive. others extreme dictators would probably have killed all heroes off. others still, the heroes would be bad, 'cept Jessica of course. this would just be the timeline which has a happy ending really, but because hiro time-traveled to the past, he either made the timeline continue in its destined path, or sent it spinning off into another one. in this timeline, hiro was destined to go back six months onto the waitresses birthday. if he had not, then they would not have been in the same timeline. so his friend wouldn't be in texas, peter wouldn't have flown to texas on the word of hiro's friend, but charlie still would have died because that was how it happened even though hiro went back in time.

Ugh, time travel. This stuff makes my head hurts. However, I think I have a theory reguard the timelines. I am preety sure that Hiro doesn't change much with reguard to it. Also I thing Charlie and Hiro worked something out to prevent a time paradox with thier first meeting. I am reminded of Star Trek: The Next Generation Espisode "Time's Arrow" The one where Data gets trapped in 19th centruy San Fransico and Guyana(Whoopi Goldberg's chaarcter) is their, but as a younger self so her and picard met long before the first time he actually met her. She doesn't let him know that until he goes just befopre he goes back. I think a simular element is here with Charlie not letting Hiro know she nows him so he can go back and meet her thus having that wonderful time they'll likely have. Ando is like Data's disembodies head in that episode, a indicater that things changed, but not changed in a way that adversly effects the present. However, I could be overly anaylising this.

Go back in time kill sylar thats your only choice... thats the way to save them all before the next problem arises... save your beautiful girl because she will be your link to learning more and more.. You need her

It will probably be many months before you get to actually read this and catch up with all of the responses to this blog message. I just wanted to say that doing things for love is very honorable and even heroes need happiness! They deserve it! It is a difficult thing for them to keep, however, as the loved ones of heroes are frequently in danger. Take Peter Parker for an example.

Six months... that is a long time, but fate has a strange way of causing things to happen as they are supposed to. Perhaps it is using you to correct some mistakes that occured the first time around? Like a [i]ta'veren[/i] in Robert Jordan's [u]The Wheel of Time[/u] series. You are helping to weave a Web of Destiny along with the other heroes like Peter Petreli and the Cheerleader!

Unlike the characters in Mr. Jordan's books, you have an ability to go back and correct possible errors that have occured. You have great power, and great responsibility. I know you will be able to do what you must. I believe in you.

Be selfish, Hiro! You deserve Charlie. Ya'll are such a cute couple.

Many people have said that he throws oragami in the air and freezes time to show his powers. This is alas false. Not only would this not work because thte person he froze time to show would not be able to see while the time is frozen. Also if you look closely at the preview there are strings and the oragamis are floating. Sorry to shoot down your theorie but everyone must knowthe truth.

First off, the evil-blonde kills Charlie -- accidentally -- when she tries to shoot her estranged husband (he's standing outside).

Second, I am somewhat convinced that Nathan and Sylar are one in the same.

I just can't figure out if Claire's dad is really a good guy or a bad guy. I'm very confused about him.

Lastly, I don't know where Hiro figures into all this, but it's not going to be easy to get him back into the story without A LOT changing (or the writers leaving some BIG holes in the storyline).

Hiro, I believe you are about to discover the hard way what so few comprehend about the nature of time.

Time is not a line.

Time is n-dimensional. Every possible timeline exists simultaneously. There are an infinite number of "Hiro's" traveling along these. Every possible decision (no matter how small or random, even sub-atomic motion and decay) creates new timelines. There are therefore, a nigh-infinite number of "Hiro's"....and of each of us! Each traveling down a different, alternate timeline.

Therefore, there exists a timeline where you did NOT go back to save Charlie. And went back only 5 days. And went back only 1 month. And so on....

The problem with time-travel is not paradox, it is selection. When you travel back in time, you have to travel back within the same timeline. But the very nature of n-dimensional time requires that your very sudden appearance 6 months (or however many ago) creates a NEW timeline. Travelling back to the timeline you left would not change anything that happened in that timeline. You have to jump across timelines to the future you desire.

Yes, it is very complicated. However, the very principles of paradox demand it.

Doesn't anyone find this interesting that a cheerleader would save the world. Oh well, it's going to be interesting to see how the world would end since a cheerleader wasn't saved.

If Charlie still isn't alive in the future, does that mean Hiro will have to stay 6 months in the past to ensure her survival in the present? I only ask because he has yet to return & Charlie is still dead. Or is he simply living in a different future now? An alternate universe sort of thing.

Ando gave you some bad ideas in Vegas, but every Hero has some tough times, and Ando now sees the error of his ways. You have taught him, as well as saved 3 seperate people. Life is and always will be a mystery, but if people can learn from you, to be nice and care for each other, then this world will be safer, and you will have become the greatest hero ever.

ok i love you hiro, but now that you went back in time, peter (milo) is in jail. I think you power is really sweeeeeeet :), however Peter is the most valuable hero because he can absorb all the other heroes' powers which pretty much makes him invincible. love you hiro :-)

I'm sorry, I truly am. But you were right; questioning if that is what always happens to the hero; that he is never happy for very long.

This is, sadly, true. The hero (or herione) will always have conflicts, and their loved ones will almost always be in danger.

But that's another part to being a hero; to perservere, which you are doing. Even if it is in a different way than most.

Also, you mentioned you realised Charlie-san also had a super power. And that her death was very similar to what you saw as Isack-san's. Pay attention to that; it may lead to who she was killed by and why.

By going back in time, and messing with your own time line...may cause major problems; please be always aware of that, and try not to change to much (other than what you went back to do; and even that it will most likely have a big effect).

Please be careful and safe, Hiro-san. ::major hugs:: You're a wonderful person and hero, and it would just be horrible for something to happen to you.

OK, all this trying to figure out rifts etc. can make a person crazy. If Hiro is able to blog from 6 months past and we are able to read it then it would make sense that he won't see any replies for the six months. But by that logic, wouldn't we have 6 months worth of NEW blogs to replace the old ones and isn't Hiro wondering why no one is commenting!? Confusing? You got that right!

Maybe when Hiro comes back from the past to try and save Charlie he will have his Katana, and then he and Sylar battle it out behind her in frozen time, but in one final swing misses sylar and cuts off the top of charlie's head. Proving that death is unavoidable like in the movie "Time Machine", where the main character builds a time machine to go back and prevent the death of his girlfriend, but no matter what he does she dies in some unforseeable way. I like Charlie too, but I don't think he's going to save her.

I am proud of you for taking on this side quest.

It looks like you either need to put more ranks into precision time travel, or else the GM has decided that you have something important to do a little farther back than you intended.

Tru Davies only got to rewind a single day, a little less than what you intended and a whole lot less than what you managed. Most of the time, she was able to save people. You can, too.

Now that you get to celebrate Charlie's birthday with her, how will you know whether or not your mission is accomplished? Affecting things six months into the future is not a level 1 mission.

Proceed with caution, and follow your heart. I'm sure you will figure out the right path to follow.

P.S Hiro and his buddy save the cheerleader that died last episode as well thats why theres a painting of him and his buddy at the homecoming.

Hiro and Syler fight in the restaurant. Thats why he suddenly disappaeared and we saw nobody holding her when he was doing his cut head thing. between the time that hiro is in the bathroom and syler is kills the waitress, we have Hiro2(from 6 months in the past) pop in and try to stop him. For some reason hes not able to do so.

Charlie's B-Day picture changed in the last episode. Right after she's killed, they show the picture of her B-Day and it's just her in the polkadotted shirt. After Hiro leaps, the picture changes to the both of them holding the cake. I think Hiro gives her the book and tells her much more. I know he stops time with her so she can witness his power. He throws up a bunch of oragmi birds and freezes time and shows her. He can save her. If he is successful that whole timeline will change, she won't die and he'll be back... He does go to the school with Ando b/c Isaac painted Hiro & Ando under the homecoming sign w/ blood on it, so they will go very soon. So don't worry about Hiro returning.

NOTE: The older waitress said Hiro "popped out of her life weeks ago" after she said "they were real tight". So obviously something went wrong this time around, but it could change... Hiro could keep looping until he gets it right(Groundhog effect). We could do this all day, but I have a feeling they've thought it out and pay some pretty smart people who know a thing or two about quantum-physics, paradoxes, and time theories. I don't think it's an accident that Hiro went to the bathroom at that moment, but we shall see.

PS. Charlie is TOO DAMN CUTE to die... SAVE HER!

Hope you'll be OK out there. Be careful -- don't let Sylar or other bad guys catch you. You've got one of the best superpowers, and you can save the world. You must hone your powers and level up -- and don't get consumed by attachment like Anakin Skywalker did :P

I'm gonna go with the Haitian guy theory. That seems to explain all of my problems...It would set up nicely like so:

Hiro goes back in time to convince Charlie not to go in to work. Hiro gets captured by the horn-rimmed glasses brigade. Haitian wipes Charlie's memory. Charlie goes to work because she can't remember Hiro's warnings and gets killed. Ando still remembers because nothing changes and Hiro can't meet up with him because he is in the clutches of the horn-rimmed glasses guy.

Maybe Hiro could somehow bend time so that the janitors at NBC Studios in Burbank could get a living hourly wage?! Right now, they are fighting to win decent wages and health benefits like janitors at the vast majority of similar facilities. find out more at the Picking Up After the Peacock blog.

That's the problem with time-travel stories. The present should always reflect the past. Just having Hiro in that picture of Charlie's birthday means that, according to Charlie's timeline, it would be the second time they met, even though according to Hiro's timeline, it's the first.

Chronologically, the series of events would go like this according to Charlie:
1. I meet Hiro on my birthday.
2. Six months go by.
3. I go to work at the diner and meet Hiro again.
4. I get killed.

We know she still goes to the diner that day, because she still gets killed and Ando is still there wondering what happened to Hiro.

And don't get me started on the problems that arise cognitively with Ando being there and knowing what's going on. I hope some of this stuff gets explained in the next episode because I'm giving myself a headache.

Ever to stop to think that the reason charlie doesn't recognize Hiro is because she came in contact with the hasian who wiped her memory? I mean Bennet is in texas so it's possible. Just a thought.

Couple of things to address: technically the previous entries are gone b/c we are seeing the world through Hiro's eyes... he traveled into the past, so we did too. We travelled back before he made his first entry and that is why they are gone. As far as hir's teleport ability, it is based on sight, Hiro has to see something to focus on to use... any of his powers. In the past/future, he always had to concentrate on an object to stop time or travel somewhere else. I agree with the previous post, that he overshot his destination because did not have a goal. Same reason why he travelled in time into the future to NYC, he didnt have a specific target, just location. Also Charlie didn't remember Hiro for 2 reasons... 1 at that "time" they never met. Also when he traveled into the past she was already having her party, which means that someone else gave her the book, before he showed up. ??Maybe future Hiro stopped in and dropped it off to help start the romance with current Hiro?? Just a couple of thoughts... let me know what you guys think.

A time paradox created? Not really. A time paradox is a series of events that have the end result being a causality loop with the events played out in what appears to be an endless loop.

If anything, Hiro will be creating an alternate timeline. Remember how Doc Brown explained it in Back To The Future Part Two? If you travel back to the past, anything you alter in that time will skew the timeline and the current timeline ceases to exist. It may be possible that no matter what Hiro did to try and save Charlie, the outcome was still the same. Only thing is... Ando is the only one not affected by the shift in the timeline, if it indeed changed at all.

well, she couldnt have recognized hiro because he had not gone back in time to change the past yet. if he had gone back and they did meet up, then she would have recognized him. he point where she was killed was where the timeline is supposed to shift.

In movies and such this paradox gets messed around, but apparently the time travel paradox hasnt gotten too complicated yet.

Ok, I'm still trying to get my head around this whole thing, and "time-travel" storylines always end up a bit circular and paradoxical, but here is some food for thought. And I'm sorry if anyone has already made points like this, but I didn't have time to read through all the previous posts. Who do you think I am? Hiro?

First, Hiro isn't "stuck in the past". He is in the present, even if he is 6 months older, he just isn't able to meet up with Ando for some reason. There's no telling what happened, but the waitress is still dead, and Hiro apparently didn't travel back to the present instantaneously.

I agree with the people that said they thought Hiro probably gave her the book of Japanese phrases on her birthday, but why doesn't she recognize him in the "present" when he first talks to her? If she has as good a memory as it seems like she does, she would definitely remember him.

It seems like there is a lot of importance placed on 6 months ago. Isn't it weird that Hiro accidentally goes back that far?

Also, we don't see much of the surroundings when Charlie is killed, and "present" Hiro happens to be in the bathroom when it goes down. This would allow "past" Hiro to be on the scene without risking a meeting with himself. It's possible that Hiro was right there, wasn't able to stop Sylar, and went chasing after him or something. That would keep him from being able to meet with Ando, but what about meeting with Peter when he faces Sylar and saves the cheerleader?

Hiro must have learned something in the past that requires things to play out this way. One thing is for sure, though: Next week's episode is going to be fantastic.

Be carefull Hiro, Time can be a tricky thing. I know you want to save Charlie, but keep in mind that if you do stop her from going to work that day, Sylar and you will both be in the Diner on that day. Sylar was watching both you and Charlie, he decided to go after the easier target. If she does not go, then you are the only Target he will have. Someone will die that day, either her or you, if you die, then you can never go back to stop Charlie, so then she gets killed. Unfortunatly I do not think you will beable to save her. Doing so will undoubtly cause a time Paradox. And I am sure you do not want that to happen. Also keep in mind that if you die, you will not beable to go back and warn Peter "save the cheerleader, save the world".

Your blogs were not lost due to a server error; you caused a rift when you went back for Charlie, losing the blog entries. Save the Cheerleader , Save the Waitress, and tell the server admin to Save the blog entries...

Hiro, I hate to break it to you but you are actually 6 months in the past not just one day. I think you went 6 months back because that was your frame of reference for Charlie. You saw her birthday picture and that was therefore the "place" you travelled to. By the way, the Cheerleader was saved by Peter patrelli and hopefully that means the world has been saved but I'm sure there is more to do. I hope you are able to save Charlie. Good luck!

I remember reading those other entries a few years ago or at least very seperate from our timeline in one way or the other. I do in fact sense some entropy in the timeline around now. The ancient memory could be just the previous reality with the blog entries intact fading out from existance while I'm writing. Try tidying up in the space-time and be a little more concrete when making corrections, maybe that could solve your problem?

It would seem he can't travel through time in exactly the way one would expect.
If we all think about our own lives, days can go by quickly or slowly, even with clocks surrounding us, we often misjudge the passing of time.

So we travel through our memories to moments not based on days or hours, but by important memories, milestones if you will.

There is a reason Hiro lands 6 months back, and ON Charlie's birthday... it will just take some time to figure it out.
