How much input Tim has on the online comic

Tim: Those are done internally. Several of the writers have been involved. I have not written one myself, but I get pitched the storylines. When I get the pitch, it's just a few minute pitch on what they're about. We talk about them mainly in terms of what storylines we sort of want to leak out or what secrets we want to incorporate into the online comic book, but in terms of stories themselves, I'm not that involved.

love the show

I teach High School English in the Midwest, and I Heroes actually helps some of my students to develop a better understanding of some of the key concepts that I try to get across in class. For instance, we do a Caribbean study every year, focusing mainly on Haiti (voudou, Tonton Makoutes, Wyclef Jean lyrics, etc.) and I have told my students to read the Haitian's background story in the online comic books. It helps to cement their knowledge of teh relationship between the Tonton & the civilians.

But above all of that, I have to say that it was Marvel comics that really got me into reading international mythologies and learning about languages. From Kurt Warner's "Mein Gott"'s to the Valkerie stories of Dani in "The New Mutants", Marvel comics set in motion my desire to learn about other cultures and their stories. (Geez, I learned about Baba Yaga, the Russian witch who flies around in a mortar and pestle, from an X-Men/ New Mutants comic. How cool is that for a literature teacher?)

I just wish moreo of my kids would read things that interest them; after all, education isn't about grades and tardies, but learning to love to learn (how's that for some metacognitive thinking?).

Anyway, thanks for putting together such a terrific show, with such wonderful international themes, setting, and characters. Heroes goes beyond mere storytelling, and into the realm of introductory education (and hey, what teacher wouldn't appreciate the Darwin reference from the first episode of season 2?).

[No spell check available. Please forgive any errors from an English teacher.

Jack: It's Eileen McGillen from Duke Players...1978. How exciting it has been to watch your career through the years. Our family loves Heroes and couldn't wait for tonight's premier. Congratulations! I would love to chat with you sometime. You can look me up under Dale Brookshire in Centreville, VA.
