Worried about other "Serialized" Dramas on TV

Yes it worries me. There is only so much time commitment that an audience has for this kind of show. However, the only honest answer that I can give to this questions is that I have to hope and believe that Heroes will be one of the few that really hits for the audience. I think we are different enough in both premise and execution to stand out from the pack.

I really hope that Heroes doesn't go crazy like Lost did. Heroes right now has a great balance between character development and pacing and moving the plot forward, unlike Lost which is still dragging after 3 seasons. I hope Heroes doesn't get drawn out so much that it becomes boring and just another silly drama on TV (Smallville, Desperate Housewives, etc - all were excellent in their first seasons, and then just got weirder and weirder)

One thing I am very amazed at is you making available high quality streams of each of the episodes for people who missed it, as well as using short, online comics to fill in backstory and flesh out the "mythology" of Heroes. The whole production, from the television show, casting, online comic, website is amazing and caters totally to the viewer.

I can't help believe that this show can go 10 seasons if you planned on it. Smallville has been on for years now and it's not as strongly written and viewer friendly as you have made with the entire Heroes Experience (TM, R, SM). Keep up the good work and the viewers will respond in kind.

I really enjoy this story and hope it stays on for years to come.

I thought I would give the show a shot; watch for an episode or two. I think NBC should put old Bob Ross “How to Paint,” in Heroes place, it would be more exciting and makes a point each and every episode.

I'm hoping that the show continues past 1 season, other shows have met their graves early which is sad. This show's premise is promising, and could last past a single season. Show is spectacular in scope and extremely entertaining. Was disappointed that none of the heroes have a heroic character. That is, they seem more like anti-heroes given their extremely self-gratifying and destructive behaviors. Not a show I want my children watching.

There is a new kind of "hero" being developed. They are the janitors at NBC Studios, who against all odds have managed to develop the superhuman ability to live on poverty wages and no health insurance, despite cleaning up after some of the richest people on the planet. Amazing!

But, now they are fighting back!

Hey good job on the first show, keep the speed up and the story exciting. You guys made me a fan so keep it up.

I think the show was amazing. I love the plot and the development so far. And can't wait to see more. I think in this day and age of mindless reality TV we need a show like this.

This show has been great for the first episode. You should make them have costumes in the later episodes. You should also show how they got their powers. Try not to follow X-men. Also try not to follow shows on tv that has failed.

The only thing I am worried at this point is when the nutjobs try to act out something they see in the series (Matrix, GTA, etc)
The media, after all, believes it is thier job to tear down and destroy any heroes, fictional or otherwise.

i think this show has great potential if steered in the right way. it can't be stopped by self-loathing people and those afraid to experience something new. I gave it a chance and was plesantly rewarded. i suggest others do the same.

I'm going to give it a chance however I didn't see much tonight that wasn't already shown in the promos...a little "Lost" a bit of "Smallville" and a smattering of "6 Degrees". Very little character development and no special effects as of yet. It may be to much of an investment in a show that is trying to do too much at once. Not what I expected. Good luck though.

I actualy found no major fault in the show at all I think it was great very well done and very well written the various backgrounds, I love it...GIMMIE MORE!!!!

I agree with rebecca you need a cast you can fall in love with make a strong show with a devoted fan base but there is nothing saying you can't have countless guest heros or passing through or in other countries from time to time.

I thought to myself watching the premiere episode, that Reality TV has had it's hayday as well, & that actual TV Shows are back!

Also, yes, it does look like there will be a super-romance, or at least fling in the trailer for future episodes.

I disagree, Jeff. I think it's crucial to maintain key characters without changing them too often.. otherwise it begins to feel like a soap opera... remember all the new characters on 90210? Or Melrose Place? Changing characters too often has never proven to do well for ratings... its all about loyalty for those characters we've bonded with already.

I'm wondering how you came up with what powers to give the people. so many ideas to choose from how did you narrow it down to the ones on the show?

You're biggest problem there is going to be retaining the the unremarkable but likable aspects of your characters. Super heroes don't need us, while the normal everday folks in Jericho, over on CBS also stuggle with a portent of doom, without the aid of superpowers.

yeah, as stated in a prev. post, this is an issue for me. I already have some faves and can't really devote more time to another show. For instance, once 24 is on, everything else on Monday night is toast. Didn't know if you'd be up against them at some point.

Well, I just got done watching and am hooked. Unfortunately, I will only be able to watch one more episode before I deploy to Iraq. I hope to catch up on what I missed when I return. GREAT SHOW!!

Hey, love the show. I think what will set it apart from other superhero serials is that it isn't based on any existing characters or material (ie: Smallville). Original characters, original story.

I plan on watching this show & Lost.

I used to watch Smallville, until it became too much of the same. Now I just watch the major turning point episodes like the premiere & finale.

Just don't spend too much time using origins, however I do like the flashback sequences that say Lost does.

I don't think the other dramas detract from this show at all. I don't watch them much. That is the key. The people that like crime drama will watch those, the people that like sci-fi type of drama will watch Heros.

How will having special abilities effect the non-special members of the characters lives? And will the characters hide their abilities, which btw would be almost next to impossible for a worldwide show?

I agree. These are real people who just happen to be able to do things they can't understand. It will be fun to watch them develop.

oh don't worry, you are. this is probably the best thing on TV. most engaging and original.

What about a Feature film by the end of Season 3 or 4? Please say you will try with an awesome studio backing budget.

I think that the viewing audience is rapidly getting sick of reality television shows where strangers get married or eat bugs for money... as with the success of Lost I think there will be a return to fiction television dominating the airwaves.

If you keep true to your storyline. and avoid too much interference from the network (seems like you have a great relationship with nbc) you should be ok. Just keeping my fingers crossed we don't see another Firefly-like disaster!
