Why I wanted to do a show like this

I wanted to create a show that I felt tapped into what a lot of people were thinking about and were concerned about these days, and that is that the world seems like a very big and complicated and sometimes scary place. I wanted to create a show where we would have characters that would emerge that may actually be able to do something about that.

I feel that there’s a wish fulfillment in the audience that someone will come along and take care of these bigger problems.

Why don't you just do your job and man the gate? Did you pick this name just for this show's blog? You keeping all the bad ones' out?

The bigger problems do not want to get fixed due to the worlds economy and the current infrastructure of the economy. Ratings rise, stocks rise and investors get richer. I see this a wishfull thinking on the creators part but the pandora is out of the box.

Are the "super-hero" powers only found in certain people or is it a mass phenomenon?

Superlative Show! I loved it, therefore it is doomed. I hope however it goes on for years. Hiro is powerful for a geek, the stripper is scary, cheerleader is deranged, seek help! The Indian is the brain. The surprise was that Flyboy, couldn't fly. The villian was the dad?!?!!

It was a great show! I like the show, i have always liked shows that delve into the possible extra powers of human beings. Now how can i be cast on one of your future shows????

So far, I like it. How could you tell who are the heroes and villians were of most comics and manga, if the first issue only showed the protagonists,as they were pre-secret origin, but had hints.

However, I am gettin an uncomfortable vibe from the next episode's preview, sort of like I got from "lady in the water." I didn't like the "destiny is revealed to them by the universe" then, and I don't like it now. (If, however that is what will happen. But maybe it will turn out that the comic will be something other than what the promo made it feel like.

This series is simply brilliant! Inspirational and captivating. Couldn't take my eyes off the tv screen for a second... maybe tv isn't hopeless after all.

Loved the show, please keep it clean so younger kids can watch it....& it needs to be on at 8pm. My 8-12 year olds will love it...Thanks!

This show was amazing. I felt like I held my breath for an hour while watching it. Will you have any older superheros?

You have an idea that is based on more then mere reality. It gives you shivers when you can relate on a deeper level than what is generally perceived.

AA-Amazingly awesome opening pilot.I am looking forward to more shows. I know people who are comic fans or non comic will tune in. This new show is different from the rest such with powers orientated character. Different is good. Plus something new for this generation and people love new. AA-amazingly awesome.

I really enjoyed the show except for one thing, Odessa, Tx.

I live around there and the small details pull me out of the story. Odessa is a city, it's small but it's there. Gardendale is a very small community, no mall. I know it's nitpicky, but it takes me out.

Other than that, I'm in. Loved it.

GREAT JOB!! I saw the first episode just a few minutes ago and I was quite amaze.. It's like being a kid again.. I think we all wanted to be heroes when we were kids.. I can't wait to see how the show plays out.. I hope it doesn't turn out to be another bust by repeating themes or playing out the same story by just recreating different people.

I love this plot. It's original, twisting, edgy, and totally unpredictable. The humor with Hiro, the many problems with Niki, the sub plot with Saresh, the plot between the flying brother(s?), and the cheerleader girl who can never be harmed. Insane. Catchy. WONDROUS story. I love the connections that will eventually tie-in everyone together. So much love for this series. I shall watch it again tomorrow, and make sure to never miss it every Monday. Thank you thank you for making me race to TV for a show once again. It's been a while. You're a genius. Thank you.<3

But, comic book fans will make the obvious connection with "X-Men", both the movies and comic books, and say that you just ripped off the essential idea behind that comic that's been around for decades....
I've heard once that there are no new ideas out there, but only fresh takes on old ideas/concepts, etc. What do you think?

Loved the show, reminds me of the movie Ubreakable. I love the realistic take. Actually entertaining the possibility of people with supernatural powers. I REALLY like that you are replaying the episodes on USA and SCIFI!!!!! I definitly have HEROES on my Tivo-SeasonPass.

finaly a show that has substance and give's me fit's of excitment. i love it. i'm tried of all the reality show's i live enough reality. great praise on a what will hopefully be show of humongous greatness for the scifi fan's out there.

Were you inspired at all by a game called Mage, or by magical experiences of your own? I can also see influences of X-Men, but you mentioned those explicitly, so that goes without saying... :) Even with the influence visible, you've still got a good show that is unique and compelling from the first episode. Congrats... :)

I haven't watched NBC in years. They finally have a show that has me hooked. Congrats!

We are all amazing and this show is one small way we have been connecting.

I've created a superhero like Hiro that can create gravity fields by bending space. Perhaps Hiro can learn something similar.

Is this show based on the short lived but great comic book Rising Star?

I agree with you. In todays world when we all feel overwhelmed by horrors that are not of our making, having a show featuring ordinary people who have developed ways to fix anything, gives us control in some small way.

I loved the ordinary people idea for the ensemble of the show. I saw most of the premiere on NBC.com. I lived in Los Angeles for a couple of years and earned my SAG and AFTRA cards. The passion I feel for acting has never left and this show is definitely the style that I would have loved to be in. Great job and I'm going to watch it again tomorrow night!

I can really relate to this show. Not to any of the characters so far. Maybe to the painter. I see things, but don't remember them until they happen. Then I can remember what happens after and I tell people, they look at me like I am psychic.

I think the characters are very relatable to common folk which makes the show so interesting.

Great story line and great idea to bring a comic book to life.

This has to be, by far, the most excited I have ever been about a television premiere. I hardly even watch T.V. anymore because, frankly, it's usually a bunch of rubbish trying to play on another show's success. Hero's on the other hand, is a rare breed. I was completely captivated by it, the imagery was spectacular, and the story line, is amazing....well the little of the story line we were able to taste tonight. I can't wait for next week. I just wonder how you came up with this idea.

This is the best show in years. I only wish i knew how these greats minds do this kind of writing and show it.

I'm a bit of an author myself and created a couple of superheroes. Hiro's ability is very similar to one of mine but he basically bends space around himself. My character can bend space in and around anything, creating gravitational fields of any shape, size, and strength. Perhaps Hiro could learn something like that.

I thought the show was amazing and I am really intrigued about how they are all going to meet. The ending of the show is going to kill me all week. I need to know what happens

be sure to remember that with any time occurance the opposite must be paid ie

Great beginning to an old story with a great twist. I felt I could fly when I was 7 years old. But your show brings those childhood feelings to life! Congrats!

WOW!! This show was amazing!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and couldn't take my eyes off the screen! Esp. when teh brother caught the other brother that couldn't fly!! I was like whoa!! This movie kind of puts me in mind of Stephen King's The Stand....a bunch of different people with a special purpose coming together...are they gonna stop teh bombing of teh World Trade Center?? The show should have centered on the professor as an anchor. It was too disjointed, like that show about the lottery last year.

I just finished watching the show and I have to say that you guys did an amazing job. I was pinned to the TV for the entire hour not able to leave.

I hope you don't hate being compared to someone else, but a few years ago I saw "Unbreakable" and I thought it was the greatest idea. To take the 'average joe' and show the world what it would REALLY be like if you had superpowers. And tonight, it happens again, but better. Instead of a small one-shot we're taken us deep into the lives of 9 individuals.

When I was younger, and still am at heart, been one of those that wishes he had superpowers and this show takes you through the motions of what could happen if you could get those powers.

I can't wait till the next show. Great job!!

Will there be characters who use their powers for evil? It seems that the people so far will not choose the dark path, but is there a chance for other characters in the future who will?

Excellent show. I cannot wait to see what else will be in store as the series continues. Being a long time comic book fan, I find the story and overall presentation to be terrific. I like the superhero stories that show the average person gaining extraordinary abilities without being able to go to Xavier’s Institute. That type of story becomes more a story of self-discovery and yet it can still retain all of the best things that come with the mainstream comic book adaptation.

Nice job Tim. Well written and great choice of music and sound design (something sometimes overlooked in TV). The choices of actors was brilliant!. Kudoes to you and your casting director. Look forward to next week.

Looking at the intricacy of this script and the interwoven characters, all those easter-eggs, clues, and teasers, do you forsee this being one of those shows that one can't sit down and enjoy an episode in the middle of the run?

I hope you take a note from Hiro's love of Star Trek and realize that plot arcs, while nice, don't make up for stand-alone episodes with appropriate rising action, climax, and falling action.
