The Most Difficult Aspects of Making a Show Like This

The breaking of the stories is a huge part of my job. This is a big, giant monster of a show, and that monster needs to be fed constantly. While it is difficult, it has been a lot of fun as well. Trying to maintain the balance of plot and character is also a challenge. You don’t want the engine of the story to overwhelm the character moments. Striking the right balance has been a process of trial and error. I think you’ll see that we are really succeeding on that front.
As for the budget, yes, this is a huge show to produce. There are so many characters and so many locations. Of course, by bringing these characters together (which we really begin to do by episode 4) the logistics start to get easier. The other challenge is doing a show about people with special “abilities” and figuring out how to show those given our budget. We can’t compete with a 200 million dollar feature in terms of special effects, so we are using them sparingly.

I thought I would give the show a shot; watch for an episode or two. I think NBC should put old Bob Ross “How to Paint,” in Heroes place, it would be more exciting and makes a point each and every episode.

I'm done watching. The director or whoever was lamenting how difficult it is to put on such a show. How tough is it to have special effects people feed us a constant diet of mutilated human bodies. It would require some actual creativity to actually let us visualize what may have happened or have a character actually describe the man with the missing brain. This is just another sex and violence blood spree like most of the American entertainment industry. I will use my "viewer discretion" and turn off the TV yet again.

AT THE HUNTER COLLEGE PRESENTATION EELE SHOWED HIS PREMONITION ART ON KATRINA AND RITA (YOU MAY REMEMBER THAT KATRINA AND RITA HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2005). BECAUSE OF EELE'S PREMONITION ART I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY FAMILY OUT OF HARM'S WAY, MONTH'S BEFORE BOTH STORMS HIT.

EELE ALSO SHOWED ART WORK THAT HE WAS STILL WORKING ON ABOUT A BUS BLOWING UP IN TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK CITY BECAUSE OF TERRORISM. ( ON HEROES, ISSAC'S BUS BLOWS UP IN ISRAEL BECAUSE OF TERRORISM). EELE ALSO SHOWED ARTWORK ON SEPTEMBER 11,2001 THAT HE PAINTED IN JANUARY 2001. HE TOLD THE AUDIENCE HOW HE AND HIS TWIN HAD COME TO NEW YORK CITY TO STOP SEPTEMBER 11,2001 WITH THEIR PREMONITION ART BEFORE IT HAPPENED. HOW IS TIM KRING THE CREATOR OF ISSAC, WHEN EELE EXHIBITS PREMONITION ART IN CHELSEA GALLERIES IN NEW YORK CITY? There is a new kind of "hero" being developed. They are the janitors at NBC Studios, who against all odds have managed to develop the superhuman ability to live on poverty wages and no health insurance, despite cleaning up after some of the richest people on the planet. Amazing!

This show is incredible,I do not think there is anything objectionable. People spend too much time sheltering their kids these days. Life is full of visuals that may cause nightmares. Better to learn of this in the comfort of one's home. I truly love the show and the ladies on it are incredible.

There should be a warning before the show that it is at least PG-18.

I am really disgusted such a show would be on at prime time and be marketed for kids.

I thought the story line was great and interesting until you started putting on UN-NECESSARY GORY, disgusting scenes. this is a family time slot show, not a PG18 rated slot. Don't let the Network dumb it down and save a few bucks by getting rid of the narrator at the beginning. I'd be willing to bet that this is something that the Network thinks is needed, but it doesn't. They probably think the audience is not smart enough. Wrong! The storytelling is intelligent and so is the audience!!

great show, but in case you were wondering odessa does not have any mountains, just a lot of oil wells.

This show is live creation of the dreams of millions of people who liked the old comics and cartoons and shows. As long as it becomes known, there is NO way it can fail. Just keep it as down to earth as you can for a show like this.

I have to say this is one of the most orignal ideas I have ever seen. I have always had similar ideas for comics in mind. puts a more real feeling vibe for super heroric type world.

I'm impressed and congrats on a great show. I will be tuned in.

I just pray others will catch this show. and give it the ratings it deserves.

How about creating a feed with the show summaries? People can link the feed to their MySpace or Yahoo 360 pages and help promote the show. You also may want to evaluate the airing time. Going up against 24 in January is going to be a challange.

Finally a reason to watch network television again, just leaves me wanting more. Cant wait for next monday.

You should make someone have the power to become invisible... that would be really cool...

The bleeding edge of technology happens to be the cheapest form of technology. It's amazing how many television producers and movie producers fail to utilize it though. That technology is the audience imagination. Keep using that and you will be well within budget and continue to rank high in the ratings.

A show just about superpowers would last two seconds on tv. Great characters and storytelling is what we want along with the superpowers aspect and the first episode delivered that in a great way.

I'm sure that with a large enough audience (and ratings from them) your budget will increase, seeing that the first show has a huge response, I must say kudos on a success! Hopefully it will keep us guessing and give people something to think about.

Do you think that you'll ever do a movie, to take advantage of that $200mil budget? If this show becomes big enough for that (I'm confident it will), I'd be one of the first in line to see it on opening night.

I actually like the subtle approach you are using as a means of keeping in budget. It is kind of like the original movie Alien where the movie goers did not really see the alien in its entirity for the entire movie. The mystery builds and keeps the audience on their toes for more.

How will having special abilities effect the non-special members of the characters lives? And will the characters hide their abilities, which btw would be almost next to impossible for a worldwide show?
