I find this extremely difficult to understand.
Once a switch is off,,,,, no electricity flows.
I understand if you are talking about a device that has either a "light" or a screen, but a toaster???
Prove it.
Thanks

It appears Darroll doesn't have a clue of the way it's been for the last 25 years.
Every Television that is instant on is always on.
Don't believe it? Unplug it for a minute, then turn set on.
The off button only killed the screen and amplifier to speakers.
All power supplies embedded into devices are always on, as in home theater self powered speakers.
No, Toasters do not apply, unless your using it to warm the bathroom, and a happy meal.
Cheers

whoever wrote that tip likely does not understand what they were saying or know much about technology.
i, like most people, charge their cell phones and other gadgets at night or times when we sleep.
and many people watch television and use the computer at night. why would i not want to use my devices at night?
turning off everything at night is not a 'green' tip. it's an impractical one that was half-baked when it was thought and shown on tv and in this blog. gadgets need charge when we don't use them. people use electronic appliances at different hours. and, not everybody is a day person.
