Hello! I should address that I am writing these as the reruns air this summer. Just a few memories of what those weeks were like. I'll have more to say once the season starts in the fall. Thank you for the kind comments!

For the "Sofa King" sketch, we had to be careful with how we said those words. With the way it was sounding during rehearsals I thought for sure we weren't going to get to do it for the live show. Uni-brows are always funny to me btw.

I remember when Amy first started doing the Dakota Fanning impression in our offices, not intending it to be for a sketch. It was really simple, she'd just do this huge smile and throw her arms straight up over her head and then pat her hair down. Perfect. Now that I think about it, she's done a few other ones at work that are amazing. Karen O. and Katherine Moennig who plays Shane on "The L Word".

Jason, Kenan and I had to show Jim Signorelli, the director of the "Moustache Rides" commercial, all these different moustache options. The walk down the hall from the makeup room to Jim and back again was like a facial hair freak parade. Fu-manchus, handlebars, those long biker ones. I loved Kenan with that impossible amount of dreadlocks.

We shot the "Dear Sister" digital short really really late on a Friday night. Me and Jason did our part at like two in the morning. It was at this hotel a few blocks down from the studio. We walked down the street dressed as cops and pretty much looked like two comedians dressed up as cops. Our dressing room was one of the rooms at the hotel. As soon as we got there we started joking around but were immediately told "shshsh! People are sleeping!" It's so funny to me that that's still a part of my life. Being told to shush. I remember Jorma trying to explain the video idea to me. He was saying "there's this thing that they did on the finale of the O.C., and they play this song and well...you just have to see it." When I finally saw it, it killed me. That song! And Shia's line.. "You guys I just thought of the funniest thing". Who says that? Also putting on that cop uniform made me realize what a terrible cop I would make. I can't deal with confrontation and I know that if I was questioning a criminal, I would take whatever they said at face value, just to get out of there. "Oh okay. You were visiting your cousin but you don't know his name? Sounds good to me, thank you."

The Dear Sister skit gets funnier each time I watch it. And the Sofa King sketch was pure genius! You crack me up, Fred. Loved your bit on food pet peeves for Vice magazine, by the way. I thought I was the only weirdo out there who has issues with apples and oranges.

Damn, I was hoping for some insight into your prep for the 'gay couple from Connecticut' bit on WU. You and Bill were hilarious. Rather.

Hi, I thought that this show was Sofa King Funny. Please ask Shia Back To host Next Season, He has the potential to be one of the greats. Thank you for your time.

yea i agree with melanie that was the best skit ever!! its even on my my space!! i all ways wished i could be on SNL so i could meet all of you! (i REALLY wanna meet Seth Meyers!) *wink wink*

love all of your guy's work!!

bye

I hate to say it, but I am a HUGE O.C. fan. So when I saw the "Dear Sister" sketch, I got it right away. It was great though. I called a friend of mine who was watching, and when she answered she said "HOW DARE THEY!!" ...Haha. We loved it. I actually had to explain the Sofa King to sketch to some people, which I though was funny within itself. I am thinking you guys should all wear uni-brows every episode, the entire time. DEFINTELY. :]

Yes! The dear sister sketch, the two gay guys in Connecticut, the sofa king sketch! It did turn out to be a very cool and funny show. Oh! and the one where Maya pulled Shia into a room! Maya LeBeouF! I love it! I was also hoping for some insight on the two gay guys thing since you did that before but it was two gay guys from New Jersey and it looked like Bill was trying to push it to the edge to make you feel uncomfortable and it made me laugh so hard coz you were staring at him for a while. This time it looked like he did it again, but then you looked away so he just nudged you to look towards his direction.LOL. Thanks for blogging Fred! I really enjoy reading them. SNL rocks!

I had never seen the OC finale, but my brother explained it to me. While the Dear Sister skit was playing I could not stop laughing and the waves of giggling just got louder and more out of control. That's why I watch SNL. Thanks, guys, for moments like those.

mustaches are pretty much funny in any circumstance, ever.
i love you fred!

Does Shia do comedy clubs? He seems to have the talent for spontaneity.

Maybe Zac Efron will host SNL soon

comment by someone people say looks like Mr. Burns of The Simpsons

Hey, it's sweet that you blog! it definitely gives us crazy fans a bit more insight into the lovely world of snl. Your entries always make me crack up. =). I bet this is the first time you're hearing that you're pretty funny. (maybe you could make a living out of it?) Anywho, just want to say that the "Dear Sister" song is my ringtone, right at the point where someone gets shot. Every time someone calls me i laugh; and so when i answer the phone, im laughing, which i guess is a good thing? Thx for making the world a funnier place (and in that way a better place)

P.S. Making people laugh, staying up super late to write sketches, chilling out with the lonely island guys (Andy!, Jorma!, and Akiva!), and sweet after parties... sounds like the life for me!

P.P.S. The next time you see the lonely island guys could you possibly tell them that they r crazy awesome from Sarah d. in Canada (and that i loved Hot Rod)

P.P.P.S. THANKS A BUTTLOAD!!! =D

P.P.P.P.S. Did you know that ringbone is a word?

hope you post this

fred, you're seriously the s***. just found this site, i LOVE it. please keep it up, it's so much fun to hear the behind the scenes stuff, from someone who knows how to write so well!

awesome! fred has a blog!

I believe this episode to be the best I've seen so far. I loved the "Sofa King" skit, my friend and I did the impression at school the next day and everyone thought it HILLARIOUS!!! Especially the one skit (which Im not sure if you were in it) with the random gun shots! (Was it a spoof against The OC? Because if it was I will love it EVEN MORE) Well Keep up the good writing!

OK, so you did Obama and CNN. How about doing McCain and NBC next. Do you think Brian Williams will still stop by to watch the show if you do a skit based on this story by Media Matters?
