On the murder

Connie: For those concerned about the murder, I would say just keep watching. Jesse Plemmons is such a great actor and he does this story so well and I would encourage people to keep watching as you see him go through the fallout of what happened and all the emotions and drama that comes with that. Characters overcoming major issues is what our show does well.

I think that the murder story line is fine...

BUT the entire volleyball storyline was embarassing to everyone involved in Texas volleyball. And I'm insulted. Before beginning a story line about volleyball, you all should probably do some research. I guess in the area where this takes place, volleyball isn't huge. But you either need to make some concessions about the actual skill of the team, the skill of Tyra, who doesn't even know how to do a volleyball approach, or the qualifications of the coach. But I know a lot of GREAT football knowledge you guys have, so I'm kind of appalled that you wouldn't even give volleyball enough of a cursory glance to know that a person who "spikes" the ball is NOT called a "spiker," they're called a HITTER. That's allll. Thanks for a mostly-great show!!

I don't like calling them the Dillon Panthers when in actuality they are the Odessa Permian Panthers of class 5A Texas football. Did they take on this false name to protect the actual school or copyright infringement? What gives?

I just have to say that the pivital moment when Jesse decided to tell the truth. Was fantastic. While he was walking down the hall to confess and the music with the walk made me cry. If there were more shows that showed the emotional stress that kids go through like Friday Night Lights does and how the kids handle those situations might encourage even one kid to pay attention. Even the choice to walk away from the drugs like Tim did...was great. Great Job. Keep up the good work.

The thing that made your show a success was the football and the stories that went with it, not all the other lines that you are heading to. Make it what you started not something new. If its not broke don't fix it.

HI,I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME.THE CAST MEMBERS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB AND THE STORIES ARE GREAT.THE ONLY THING IS I WISH FOR IS MAYBE MOVING IT BACK TO WED.I THINK THAT IT MIGHT HURT BECAUSE ON FRIDAY NIGHTS ALOT OF PEOPLE GO TO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES OR BOWL OR DO DIFFERENT THING.I DONT WANT TO SEE THIS SHOW GO OFF THE AIR.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Do not fear that women will not watch if you continue you focus on the town's obsession with football. This has been a real show with outstanding writing and acting. Do we really need a murder to attract viewers. If you are going down that track you might actually lose your fan base.

The thing with the move to Friday was this: why will people watch a show ABOUT football when they could be out watching ACTUAL football? And that's why new types of storylines have to emerge.

The problem with "slowly building a following"...is that networks don't allow that.

I was a little taken back by the sequence. I kept hoping he would call his dad. The only problem I see is how can you argue self-defense when the police find the body...the head wound was from behind which at least tends to show he was walking away...posing no threat anymore.

On the other hand...no jury in Dillon would ever convict a Dillon Panther, and juries would be sympathetic to the rape angle. I just think it took the show in a direction it should not have gone in.

I bet things get better...so I will listen to Mrs. Coach and give it some more time.

One of the reasons the show WAS so great was that it felt like real life.

The odds of that murder sequence happening to any kid are astronomical.

The writers just ruined the show's authenticity -- forever. There's no turning back.

And for what? To try to spice up the show to grab ratings? This show needs to slowly build a loyal following. Throwing in inauthentic plot lines such as that are a turn-off.

I'm not sure I'm going to stick with the show after that ridiculous sequence. It no longer feels like real life. It's now mired in a phony plot line.

Ugh.

I JUST THOUGHT THE MURDER WAS A LITTLE FAR-FETCHED. FIRST OF ALL, IT WAS IN SELF-DEFENSE. SECONDLY, THE STORE OWNER KNEW THAT JESSES' CHARACTER WAS JUST IN THE STORE. WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST CALL THE POLICE OR SHERIFF AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED WITH THE STORE OWNER BEING RIGHT THERE INSIDE - I DON'T THINK JESSE'S CHARACTER CAME INTO BUY A LOT OF JUNK FOOD AND ONE MINUTE LATER WENT OUT TO KILL SOMEONE NO-ONE EVEN KNEW IN THE TOWN! WHERE DID THE VICTIMS' VEHICLE END UP? AND IF THEY DUMPED THE BODY IN THE RIVER - IT'S GOING TO FLOAT UP SOMEWHERE SOONER OR LATER. ONCE AGAIN, IT SEEMED TOO VIOLENT FOR THE SITUATION AT HAND, UNLESS I MISSED SOMETHING - HE DIDN'T HAVE A GUN TO THREATEN THEM WITH.
ANYWAYS, DON'T TAKE THIS WRONG! I ACTUALLY HAD NEVER WATCHED THE SHOW UNTIL BRAVO PUT ON AN ALL-DAY MARATHON TODAY. SO I GOT MESMERIZED, AND THEN COULDN'T WAIT FOR THE SHOW TONIGHT.I LOVE THE SHOW AND THE CHARACTERS.
AS FOR USING REAL HOMES ETC - THAT'S GREAT. IF YOU EVER COME TO LONG ISLAND,N.Y., YOU'D HAVE TO SETTLE FOR PERFECT LAWNS AND GARDENS, "SATURDAY AFTERNOON SUNLIGHT" GAMES, MUCH SMALLER CROWDS, A LOT MORE DOGS IN THE STANDS, AND SOME REALLY GREAT MARCHING BANDS THAT THE FAMILIES COME TO SUPPORT AS MUCH AS THE FOOTBALL GAME ITSELF!(SPEAKING AS A "BAND AND KICKLINE" PARENT) AS FOR MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS - I FIGURED I HAD THE BEST IDEA - I WAS MEASURING ON THE FIELD AND OCCASSIONALLY BEING "RUN INTO". THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!1

I actually think you have dis-couraged future viewers because of the murder.....for us regular folks...a lot of the times...its not about the "good acting" or "wow..what a performance"...its about...its Friday night, long week at school & work...and oh yeah, Great "FNL" is on tonight...lets EVERYONE sit down and watch.
Instead I find myslef explaning to my 10 yr old that "its just a show" to my15 yr old" well, maybe the football will be back next week"....and now..i gotta look for another show that gives me that "Old FNL" feeling....
