For mark: Any comment on cutting back on football scenes?
Jeff: Jason Katims, and I believe, that football is still an important element of the show - a kind of backbone. I mean obviously we've told a lot of stories within football and there's a limited amount of ways you can have a team win or lose, and it's the personal stories that's more important to us. But saying that, it's still important for us and we will have football games with interesting stories in those games, but we just chose not to open with football. Football, though, remains a great frame to tell different kinds of stories and if you want football, please be patient. Those stories are coming.

I didn't miss any football in this episode. you had some real life beacher climbing and vomiting, that's football!
I love the show, but I gotta say, this episode was a little too busy for my taste. The thing I loved about the first season was that it lived and breathed like the town that it's set in. It was on Texas time -- the emotions built slowly in each storyline and came to a head. I know you guys needed to grab new viewers with tonight's premiere, but I hope it slows down and gets a little less melodramatic in future episodes. Great job, though, Connie. You are a terrific actress.
