To Lisa Roz: TV over film

They're both very different experiences for me. TV provides an opportunity to go deeper and explore issues and characters in a much more complex and comprehensive way and I enjoy that very much. There's also something very thrilling about filmmaking, which is a more time-limited experience with three months of shooting and three months of editing – it's a one-shot deal. And that, in an equal way, is just as exhilarating. But I feel fortunate to work in both mediums.

I have been waiting with anticipation for the premier of Friday Night Lights...it was great I grew up in Texas, was a part of that high school experience and had a daughter that was a cheerleader and on drill. There is nothing like high school football in Texas

I just wanted to let you know that as I watched the show I cried for the team, the players and the mother. Not only was I touched by the display of Christianity which you have'nt shown since touched by an angel and of course michael landon's wonderful production, Highway to Heaven. Mr. Berg you've got a real winner here! Our Buckeye's experienced a injury of the same type a few years ago and I know it affected our state, but like the great state of Texas, we stll came back and are now #1! Nothing personal against Texas. I'm hoping our Bobby Carpenter brings them back where they need to be, anyway great show and appreciate the touch of the Lord in the work you do!

Too many parallels between the series and the movie. And the circle of pain at the beginning of the show is ridiculous. You know, where the coach would call on a player to knock the fire out of the guy in the middle of the circle. Everyone got knocked flat on their can. That is lame. It does not happen that way and that was overkill. The second string quarterback of this "big on football school" hasn't even taken a snap? If football is so important to them, don't you think the 2nd string quarterback would be taught how to play before the season began? Yet he goes from a rookie to a pro in 3 minutes? Whatever. The big star quarterback goes out with a very serious injury in the 1st episode. What's that all about? A little dramatic don't you think?

What a great show!!! We really enjoyed it, we would like to see it aired on Friday nights to get the "full effects" How powerful and moving to actually air "Friday Night Lights" on Friday nights...it would be something to look forward to at the end of the week!

Outstanding Show! After living in small town Texas for 20 years and being involved along with watching my kids go through high school Friday Night sports... you hit it right on the button. Great job of showing the spirit and values of small town America in Texas. An excellent show, well done, with the excitement and staying power of a new TV hit. Keep bringing on the this terrific entertainment. Looking forward to Tuesday nights.

As a mother of 2 former TX high school football players you did a great job at catching the behind the scenes action. The rivalry between players and girlfriends, some of the boys drinking and the family life was great. For TX the prayer added the real touch. Great Job!

What a wonderful, refreshing, uplifting show. Friday nights lights ! I cant even believe some one had the tenacity to put a wonderful life like, to include the american belief system on live T.V. you sure this is not FOX instead of NBC? I had given up hope of anything worthwhile ever being put on T.V. again. THis is so American! God, Mom, Football and apple pie.. I hope it stays on for a long time.. even a great show finally for family viewing.. got my vote! Where Am I still in the USA? My hats off to the director, producer and the actors.. Good work!

Unfortunately, I only caught the last half of the show. I commend you for the prayer at the end of the game. And you allowed the players to use the name Jesus. Living in the South, that made it all the more real for me, because that's EXACTLY what would have happened. Keep it up.

I got chills during many scenes! I grad. in 89' from Permian, haven't been back to Odessa since. You used our last name at the end of the movie "Manall", my brother played on the champ. team the follow year. Great job on both projects!

the show was so much more than i thought it would be. it had me cheering, laughing, crying but most importantly thinking about the people in my life. I can't wait till next week!

thank you for touching my heart

I love the fact that you have included prayer in school in your show. What a powerful message that is. It shouldn't matter if you are a public school or private, if you want to pray you should have the freedom to do it. Your show sends that message. Hurray to you!!

I really enjoyed the show. The game footage seemed very authentic. Are there any unique shooting techniques used in production to add to the realism of the shots?

You hiring?

I love your work as an actor.

What, if anything, are you taking from being in front of the lens for so many years, and applying it to being on the opposite side behind the lens?
