About our great cast

Thanks for all the callouts about the cast. I think it's been a unilaterally terrific cast. What we were looking for first and foremost was an ability to improvise. All of these actors demonstrated in the audition process their willingness and ability to improvise and think on their own and to make things up, which is something that generally isn't done in TV, but we felt that this was important to capture the realism. A lot of what you see in the show is not scripted; it's improvised by the actors.

I think they're all terrific, particularly Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, our only seasoned actors. They do a wonderful job not only portraying their own characters but helping some of the younger actors to take chances and to improvise.

I was wondering about the new guy in Lyla's life. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what show he has been on before. If you could please help I would appreciate it. Thanks

Christmas shooping time - when can I buy the DVDs of the show? Perfiecr gift for my player who has benn unable to watch all season because he's been at practice every night.

Fantastic show! Absolutely loved it. (And I never even had an interest in football before tonight.) Thank you for choosing the brilliant actor, Kyle Chandler, to play the lead role of Coach Taylor. Maybe now he'll finally get the recognition he has so long deserved. The characters in this show all seem to work so well together. Good job, all! Keep it coming!

You Go NBC!!! Just for having the courage to acknowledge Jesus as Lord by having your characters pray real prayers, watch God put your network back in the #1 spot. That will be my prayer for you taking the stand you did to bring decency back to TV. It had gotten pretty pathetic. God bless all involved with Friday Night Lights! We want and need more of this type of TV! Bring us more NBC and we will watch!

I'm just glad to see that Kyle Chandler is all right after being blown to smitherines on Grey's Anatomy. LOL! I love this show. Kyle is great! It was good to see him smile.

I have lots of ties to Texas high school football (and the filming locations near Austin, especially Pflugerville, even though I don't live there anymore) - I was really skeptical, I was just sure I'd hate this show, to tell you the truth, but I loved the first show. I knew right away what the story line would be, I knew Street would get hurt and Saracen would come in - even so, I was hooked. Loved Mack Brown, by the way - he was great! Played the part of the obnoxious booster so well! Did he need much direction? Probably not. Keep up the good work here and elsewhere!

Thank you!! It was awesome to watch TV-primtime and see family values that include God. I love that my son watched this and saw the team praying---more than once! Thank you again and keep up the good work. I agree--you have a winner!

I want to thank, not only your cast, but everyone involved in the making of TV show, Firday Night Lights. I am so thankful NBC has finally stepped up to the plate in bringing a show filled with family viewing decency, moral values and most importantly placing the glory where it belongs, ON GOD! Thank you for taking the bold stand to acknowledge Jesus in the teams prayer. Looks like there is hope for NBC after all, lol.
May God bless each and every one of those responsible for giving the moral families a show they don't have to worry about shutting off. It is a family friendly, and inspirational show. I have become an instant fan and know what station I will be watching at 7pm Tuesday nights from now on. I pray there will be more programs based on these principles planned for the near future, thank you!! It has been a very long time in coming, and way over due!!

I for one am glad you moved the the show away from Odessa. The book and the movie are a good launching pad but the tv drama has a freshness to it and doen't feel like a rehash.

Great show; interesting cast.I do find it frustrating, however, that there are black male actors but no black females on the show--just blonde cheerleader types. There are so many complex stories you could tell if only black and Hispanic girls (the show takes place in Texas, after all) were to be included as part of the regular cast.

Great show! We always enjoyed Kyle Chandler in "Early Edition". This is a good use of his talents... and a wonderful carry-forward of a great movie. Thank you, NBC, for bringing us back to network TV viewing!!!

Mr. Berg: Please remember that this program was based on the book... Friday night lights. And that was based in Odessa Texas. Please always try to capture the true excitment of the people that made this all come about, the people of Odessa Texas. We were and are still very proud of our high school football. I realize you have to change some of the truth to protect others rights, but please try not to change so much that it becomes unreal, or untrue of the people and place that started the show to begin with.... The people of West Texas are proud of Friday night Lights and we would like to know that the story will stay true and carry on for years to come. Would you ever consider changing some of the small differences to make the show more true to the real town, and colors of the real MOJO? Thank you for keeping West Texas and the sprit of Texas Football alive. Go MoJO>>>>>>

Absolutely perfect, except all Texas high school teams (even the smallest towns) have a band, and I missed that one aspect. Great seeing Kyle Chandler again--always a favorite!! Thank you for presenting the soul of Friday night football in Texas.

I love the fact that you trust your actors enough to allow them and ENCOURAGE them to improvise. What a wonderful way for them to truly get into their characters' heads and establish the necessary relationships.
As I said before, this was a great performance by Kyle. He has so much to offer as an actor! The rest of the cast is amazing. You have good chemistry and it shows on screen. Thanks for bringing it to our living room!

Good show. I played football in Weatherford Tx and I know how a small town can live or die by their team. Please don't turn the running back character into T.O. He was getting a little close

Great show the ratings must have went through the roof- I'll be waitng to hear about their success tomorrow

Thank you - the show was great - I thought it was strictly for kids at first but enjoyed the show tremendously, even my husband watched and enjoyed and he normally does not watch regular tv. Shows what the coach, the town and the players go through - game was exciting - a great bunch of kids - could not believe they even prayed for their teammate on prime time tv - thank you - keep up good work

I am from a basketball community, so I am not a big fan of football. However, I enjoyed this real to life show very much. It is so refreshing to see God included in television. I hope you continue with the power of God. Thanks!!!

Peter,

I played football all of my life through high school - and then much as seen in the movie, it abruptly ends (I was not going to be playing at Syracuse). At any rate, I did maintain my interest in film and television and have kept up the hobby while professionally selling software - maybe one day I'll up and move to L.A... But I just wanted to say thanks for bringing me the ONE type of network show I've waited 33 years for. Postscript: I loved you in The Last Seduction. Good work! Bryan B.

The show seems to be cast extremely well. As far as character arcs are concerned, do you plan on bringing in new characters as the older ones graduate to maintain a full pool of players?

Great show tonight! From a "Dillon" Band Mom, I am proud that y'all had picked our "team" for your show! We had a blast filming this pilot! Thank you...and let's see more of that Panther Band in future episodes!!!

I think the show was great, it realy shows how Texas is about kids and the life that surounds high school football. good job can't wait for next week

Great show - keep it up.

The team portrayed in the show based on the Pflugerville Panthers in Pflugerville, TX... Not Odessa Permian for anyone that is wondering.

You have a winner, mainstream America! Keep the prayer before, during and after the game, just like at home. So real, thank you for something worthwhile to view.
