Ensemble Drama

Over the course of the 13 years, it's always been an ensemble drama but there's always been someone at the center of the drama. At the beginning it was Tony Edwards and then Noah Wyle. Now it's more Maura Tierney. SHe's a fantastic actress who is willing to explore any facet of human behavior, which makes it really exciting for the audience to watch her.

As for the baby, the baby is still in jeopardy at the end of the episode and epsiode 2 is really an incredible episode that explores how a lot of the relationships in the ER are worked through as everyone is waiting to see the baby through to health.

Which ofcourse is the most important thing, what this show is all about. Sherry is a great actress, and Susan a likable character, if you can, please bring her back.

I agree with Anon, mackiaveli and Lucy. I'm sure Maura is great and all that, but don't think Abby is that pretty and that special, and she gets me depressed. Other characters have gone through worse things than she has, and they managed to keep it together. I'm sorry, but I just don't like her whining all the time, please just let her get over it, and at least try to be happy, and I might like her.

Most of all I don't think you should try to make anyone the so-called "heart and soul" of the show, but focus more on the ensemble.

I think Thursday night's episode was one of the best show's ever. I hope that ER will actually have Luca and Abby finally admit they are in love. They are very believable. What a great performance by each of them

Saying that for me Anthony and Noah are irreplaceable, so I think it would better to focus on the entire cast....Is Maura Tierney the new center? And why Visnjic is the first in the credits?

Anyway when they were the "heart and soul" of this show, and you didn't need someone saying you, the show didn't round around them like it's now.

While I agree that there has always been one character at the center. ER used to be more of an emsemble in the early years. I do think ER works best as an esemble drama where it focuses on the ensemble. And uses recurring characters/guest stars to help move plots for the ensemble and liven the series up. More humour, drama, action, excitement, team work, strife, etc. needs to be incorporated with the entire ensemble. It gives different fans all something to enjoy. And keep the music as part of the episodes because it makes them more entertaining. But please pick good popular music. :)

I have to admit I was taken back a bit when the regular theme song and cast didn't pass by the screen. I don't think that I like it. One thing I definitely didn't like is taking ER off during the summer. I like to watch the reruns so I can be ready for the fall season. I usually catch something during the summer that I missed the first time around.

Please let Abby and Luka have a healthy baby and that they will stay together and be a family. When Carol had her twins she almost had to have a hysterectomy. It's too bad it happened to Abby.

Sam technically ed Steve but I can't say I blame her for doing it. She was under incredible stress and she was in fear for her and Alex's life. I was afraid that if she started the van he was going to come after them and shoot. Anyway, she shouldn't go to jail for what she did.

I think Neela should be a surgeon. There needs to be more familiar surgeons.

Greg Pratt should reconnect with his father in the future and become closer to him and his step-family.

I don't like the idea that ER gets replaced by a mid-season show in January. Too many changes aren't always a good thing. Thanks for letting me make a few comments. ER can go on forever as far as I'm concerned. I will always watch it. It's really the only show I'm interested in.

Great episdoe! I really enjoyed it. Abby is my favorite character. Her relationship with Luka is lost and dull. Carter was the perfect for her. Hopefully, a long-term reunion/relationship between those two characters will be in the makings.

Maura Tierney is an incredible, and very bold actor to let us see the character it her absolute worst and her best. Haven't seen many actors who can take their characters to great highs and lows, and have you rooting for them the entire time. She is the heart of your show and kudos to you for giving her such great material.

Abby is so my favorite. I've been watching her since she was a nurse. Maura Tierney is such a great actress.

I think that putting Maura at the "center of the drama" is an excellent idea.

She's a very talented actress, and her character is probably the most interesting one on the show.

I think it would have been better to have Luka track down Sam and kill the ex-hubby. He almost killed Jerry and the baby in his little jaunt. 3 bullets wasnt enough justice.

Maura is amazing. However my props also to the team behind the curtains. The way this episode was written and directed, everything from the choice of music to the lighting in the cucial scenes blended in so perfectly that you couldnt help but let yourself become engrossed in the charater's plight. I thought last season's finale was brilliant and it truly left me at the edge of my seat. I noticed that the opening credits were changed.
