one more thing i should add... i used to work on macs when i was in 7th grade for the school after the computer teacher got a new job. when i got to highschool, all htey had were crappy PC's. so i had to re-learn everything in the PC style, and, from experience, macs are better. besides, what is a PC laptop but a macintosh style system that doesn't perform as well.
i now use a PC, just because i have more PC knowledge now, and, though i support macs, i dont want to relearn everything again.

Alright, the Apple, Macintosh computer systems have ALWAYS been superior in stability and performance over PC based computer systems. I say this not because they have always out performed them, but rather because they were put together as a single piece of equipment, and in sync with itself. PC's "advantage" was that you could "upgrade" it as time went by, however, the upgrades in OS and hardware are only BARELY keeping up with the macintosh OS from back when i was in 7th grade... like in... 1993. so it's been over a decade before the PC OS windows, (which happens to have been BASED on macintosh OS)can finally catch up and stand as a, somewhat, respectable operating system. Certainly there is more PC software out there, so many people were duped into using the substandard PC that the market was for pc crap that works almost as good as the macintosh, and we can.... UPGRADE!!!
But anyways, love the show, soon as i can get a VHS recorder i am going to apply to get on there.

the banker is smart, because macs are tthe best kind of computer ever made
-no viruses or trojans
-Mac OSX is SUPERIOR to windows in about every single way
-they look better than windoze towers.
-iLife is the easiest way to store pictures, songs and make movies, songs..

Banker,
Hmmmmm, If Mac's (apples) are so good, why is it they now run windows?? could it be that no one writes decent software for them anymore?, and they must use PC based programs, because PC's have all the best of the best software.
Banker I would have thought you were smarter than the rest of all the dweebs that use them!
With that said, you have a great show, and the best looking females on TV today.

>> It's a Mac.... It's a Mac....
Look at Mr. Banker. He’s talkin’ some s’Mac! ;-)
>>Janet: Who decides what the amount is to offer.. you.. or nbc???
Janet, it’s all done by computer. Depending on how many cases have been opened and what’s left on the board, the amount offered is based on a calculation of the odds of the contestant having the highest amount left on the board. One way to tell is like this. You know when a contestant has taken a deal and they go thru “What would have been your next choice?” Notice how quickly Howie is able to say “And the offer would have been…”? That’s how you can tell that about the only thing the banker probably does is click the amounts on a screen each time a case is opened and the computer recalculates the offer based on what’s left.
Thank you for shopping “Geeks ‘R Us”. ;-p
And would someone fix the apostrophe? It keeps coming up like a question mark.

Sorry, this is not directly related to Banker...I was wondering if you have ever considered doing a show with someone who works for a non-profit. The employee representing the non-profit could split anything they received from the show 50/50 with the organiztion. It wouid be great for these organization to get recognized on national television and educate more people about what the are doing. It would also be a great monetary benefit for some of the smaller struggling non-profit organizations. If you consider doing this in the future I would love more information on how to become involved...I work for a wonderful Organization that is doing great things for NYC youth. THanks!

Ok Banker, a couple questions of curiosity. They call you 'The Banker', but a) Do you hold a degree in finance or statistics? and b) It's obvious you're wearing an in studio headset up in your little office. Does that link directly to that little space-age phone that rings, or are you tied into an in-house PA system that's also in Howie's ear?

Thanks

1. NBC cancels "Windfall" an INCREDIBALE, CAN'T MISS AN EPISODE SHOW!!!
2. NBC airs "Deal or No Deal"
NOT ONCE
NOT TWICE
BUT THREE TIMES DURING PRIMETIME
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

I tried text messaging my guesses for the lucky case game last night. 18 minutes after the show ended, I got text messages back for every guess telling me that my response was invalid and to reply with help for additional assistance. I replied with help and got the same message about my response being invalid. What am I not doing right?

OK, so the extra things you do like bring a relative in from overseas, do you plan a specific "time" in the game to bring them out? Something like when the player is down, to get them to buy out, or what? If they had the top three amounts on the board would you still bring them out? Let us know how you pull it all off.

enjoy the game... the show is a real "no brainer" way to go NBC just wondering if the banker uses the odds or percentages when determining which amount to offer for the deal or no deal... or does the network mandate what can or cannot be offered? have watched several shows and sometimes it seems the offers are really low and sometimes really high? being from a gambling state i was just curious and if you cannot answer that, i will understand..just keep up the good work, enjoy all of you!

I think the show is great entertainment. My seven yr. old son is crazy about it and has never missed a show.
The derogatory comments about the banker using a Mac laptop... get real.
Macs don't crash and they don't have virus issues - pc's do - that's why the banker uses a Mac!
Also all editing for tv, movies, video editing are done using a Mac- NOT a PC! So before you knock it- do a little research and be educated about what you proclaim to be superior.

I think we need to see what a female banker can do. AND we need to split the models and make half of them male (after a few shows of male only). Let's have equality here. Female models have tons of jobs, let's get the men out there dressed sharp. Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man!! Thanks.

Alright... Everytime I want the show My heart gets pounding and I jump up and down as if I was winning the Money LOL, I was just wondering when are they having auditions where or near where I live. I know most people dont even know there is a state called New Hampshire, But it is here.... and I would like the chance to have a heart attack on the stage like those people. lol. And to everyone that says you should make better deals... ITS PART OF THE EXCITEMENT!! Everytime im like NO DEAL, Screaming at the TV, and when they say No deal I jump up and down. My neighbors come over, and my boyfriend is always late to work on the days the show airs... I just wanted to say You Guys Rock!! AND WHEN CAN IT BE MY TURN!! LOL....
Have a Blessed Day!!

Why does this blog ask for your email if the banker never sends you an email in reply to your questions? I have sent two questions in but no answers yet. At least the banker could answer the intellegent questions. That shouldn't take long if you read the questions, 99% are stupid or non deserving of an answer.

Will the show ever have media /tv/movie personalities be a "guest banker" with their shadow shown. People could guess at home and the banker could be revealed at the end of the show.

How exactly do you come up with your deals? Is it simply a computer program you use to calculate the values left on the board which then gives you the number based on the odds. If so, the show is probably paying you too much.

Early in the show, that is one hell of a real option that you have to calculate. I assume that you have a ready-made spreadsheet that runs the numbers, but, great job man! Do you deviate from the value of the real option to trick or sort of negotiate with the contestants, or does the spreadsheet tell you what to say?

So I've been noticing a lot of questions on how Mr. Banker comes up with his offer. It is most likely the same way that insurance companies develop their premiums -- a measure of risk factor. Chances are that the bank offer is actually developed by a computer program; taking into account the odds of the contestant's briefcase holding an amount significantly higher than the offer he makes. The offer is also most likely calculated based on the personality of the contestant, with a requirement of drama thrown in. Without drama, nobody would watch this show, of course.
As a contestant, I would never focus on the maximum prize available; that's not the goal the contestant should chase. The goal of the contestant is to play the same game as the banker -- push the bank offer up sufficiently high while minimizing, and measuring the amount of risk involved by choosing to continue to play.
As another poster wrote: anyone who leaves with less than $100K is doing something wrong.

This game is way too easy. Anyone that goes home with less than 100k is pretty much either greedy or just a plain idiot. I don't think most of the contestants even know what "odds" means.

2 questions: Do you as the banker know how much is in each case? (For instance, last night you started out big with the bribes to cash out, and it turned out the guy did have $3m in his case.
Second, has anyone ever won the at-home suitcase game from the Web? (not text messaging)

Nothing to lose? Odds were in her favor, but there was a 1:6 chance of hitting the 4 million case, and that would have dropped her next offer below 200k. 700k is just too much to risk, even with a 5:6 chance of going higher. She made the right choice.

Hi, I watch DOND faithfully. One day I decided to go on-line to see if there was a website, and there was. I noticed the "casting" section, so I decided to enter. I think I did really well on the application but I rushed the tape due to the fact that it said the deadline was June 2nd and this was late May. Anyways, my question is this, how long before I know if I will be picked to be on the show or not? Also, do I need to reapply after a season?

I know that you use some statistical equation to come up with a general amount for each deal and that you modify that amount a little based upon how much you like the contestant. What is that base equation, and how much leeway do you have with that amount?

I wonder what kind of profiling NBC does to pick the contestants? No one seems to be able to make an intelligent decision, or maybe that is the point - NBC picks the contestants so you already have one up on them from the start. You know their psychology upfront and can use that against them. The house always has the advantage.

Mr. Banker,
Can you persuade the producers and Howie into doing a special "2-piece swimsuit" DOND? This would send the ratings through the roof!

Hey Banker,
Does it annoy you when a contestant picks a case - and then someone in the family is like "Are you sure about that case? Better think about it. Are you sure about case 18?"
Then the contestant is like:
"Let me think about it..."
At this point, what is running through their head? Any idea? What are they basing their decision on to think one random case is better than another?
