A FUN CHALLENGE / WEEK 10

Thursday
Today was temptation day and the first day without Mark on campus. Of course, every week presents the start of a new week without a recently eliminated contestant. Though the loss of every player is obvious and resonates throughout the house in its own way…the absence of Mark seems particularly noticeable. Certainly part of that is due to the fact that Mark was hands-down the most vocal and gregarious person in terms of how he related to the Casting Department. Part of it is also due to the fact that the loss is plainly written in the eyes of Jay. It’s apparent that not having Mark here is doing a little number on Jay. They are closer than any two people we’ve seen. Aside from maybe the Germanakos twins from last season. Jay is resilient. He’ll be fine. In other news…Dan won 9,500 dollars in the vending machine temptation. Way to go!

Friday
Hard as nails workouts for both teams today. Bob took Blue team to a boot camp at a prison yard…yes – it’s exactly as scary and hardcore as it sounds. Jay still seems a bit down, but he has voiced his intentions to get back on the horse and fight his way through in order to honor not only himself but Mark, as well. Kelly is highly stressed. Bernie and Brittany are almost silent tonight (a rare occurrence for them both!) – overcome by fatigue and mental anguish. It’s like it’s already the end of the week!

Saturday
It’s a dark day today and not too much to report aside from the usual. It was 24-Hour Fitness for Jillian and her team. Spin classes for Bob and his team. Black Team went to the movies. Blue Team stayed in and had a nice night together.

Sunday
It’s the second dark day. Multiple dark days in a row are relatively rare here and the contestants, trainers and casting people try to make the most of them. Tomorrow will probably present more tribulations and torments, but for now…the kids are trying to enjoy a brief respite and some relative relaxation. At least – as much relaxation as this place can ever afford them.

Monday
Today was the zip-line challenge. Possibly the craziest, most exciting challenge to date (for the contestants at least), it consisted of a zip line stretched across a huge ravine. The contestants had to pull themselves across it and grab flags. The Blue team triumphed and more than a few cast members conquered their innate fear of heights! Jay and Dan seemed to trip out the most. The reward was a flight in fighter jets for the entire team. Some would have preferred that the reward was more strategically related to the game…but Dan was in hog heaven. It was his favorite challenge reward yet.

Tuesday
The kids are learning that no matter how hard they work, no matter how grueling and intense each week gets – it can ALWAYS get worse the following week. The last chance workouts are getting exponentially more nightmarish each week. And they will continue in that vein until the end of the show. It’s rather amazing to witness how creative and innovative Bob and Jillian can be in finding new ways to torture their team members over four or more months!

Wednesday
It’s time for the weigh in and elimination. And we are sad. Who will entertain both cast and crew? Who will provide unending sarcasm and positive reinforcement no matter how hard it gets for everyone? Who will keep the goofy, fun-loving atmosphere alive now that Bernie has been eliminated? The later in the season we get, the tougher the eliminations become on the Casting Department. Bernie was well-loved among our department and it is difficult to imagine the campus without him. We have no doubts regarding his abilities or drive to lose weight and succeed at home. But that doesn’t make us any less upset to see him go!

WHEN ARE YOU FINALLY GONNA HAVE THE BIGGEST LOSER FOR JUST WOMEN!? TIRED OF WATCHING ALL THE MEN WIN ALL THE CHALLENGES AND IT ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO THE MEN BECOMING THE BIGGEST LOSER....MAKE IT FAIR AND HAVE WOMEN COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER!!!!!!! TOTALLY FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED WITH THE SHOW RIGHT NOW!!!!

I'm not happy that the cry baby is back! Come on boys act like MEN!!!! STOP CRYING ALL THE TIME MARK!!!!! I wanted to see Curtis win so I didn't have to watch Mark cry again when he gets VOTED OUT!!!!

I actually like seeing the women compete w/ the men. I appreciate Brittany getting fired up in the challenges to try to beat the boys (I would do the same). HOWEVER, I agree w/ Anon. This show discriminates against women. If a woman hasn't won by now using your current % weight loss calculation (and I guarantee a woman WON'T win this season - not even Ali [sorry girl, you've got the attitude, but the math is stacked against you]), then SOMEONE needs to PLEASE create a formula that calculates the difference between men's & women's metabolism to FINALLY even the playing field (if it is not blatantly obvious by now), and thanks Jillian for sticking up for the girls!

Way to go Jillian! I'm tired of watching everyone act like the girls have a chance! Even Bob knows without a doubt that his team is gonna win...that's why he has been so smug lately..which is a disappointment considering you are there to help people change their lives not to beat out the other trainer.

The key to having a female Biggest loser is not to have all female contestants. The females need to have higher starting weights.

Seriously it is getting really annoying to watch the ugly side of Bob this season. He is so smug it would be totally hilarious if his "team" were to lose out to one of the women.

Ali you look terrific keep up the great work. And try and stay away from the "gloomy" immature Black ladies, love your attitude!! You rock!

I think Bob has every right to be smug. This is a game, isn't it? As if Jillian hasn't always been a little smug. Hooray for Bob and his whole team, especially Mark. I'm for the blues and am sick of the already beat attitude of the girls in black.

I have been watching the Biggest Loser show for a long time. I agree that it is mathematically impossible for a woman to win the Biggest Loser. However, if you did have women who weighed over 300 pounds or more, they might have a fighting chance. Kelly has been the woman with the most weight to lose to date, right?
As far as the trainers' attitude, I don't think Jillian should have said what she did, but I appreciate her heart in all of this. She and Bob both care so much for their trainees.
As far as the reward for the zipline challenge, I was not impressed. It should have been something that all contestants would have wanted, not just a few of them. I wouldn't have been motivated to win that reward. However, I probably would have been motivated to win, just to beat the other team.

I completely agree with some of the other posts here. I am so sick of seeing challenges that give an obvious advantage to males, that I may not watch the next season. Why support a show that does not provide for equal opportunity? The show is stacked against women from the onset since women typically lose less weight than men for the same period of time, but the challenges are stacking the odds even more in the favor of the males. Aren't the shows' writers creative enough to figure out something that doesn't provide the males with an inherent advantage? I can think of an easy one for the challenge from week 11. Instead of having them on bikes, which relies on leg muscles and lung capacity to automatically give the males an advantage (both are larger in males), why didn't they have them do sit-ups to generate energy. Abdominal muscles are typically more evenly matched between males and females. And the zipline challenge could have been made fairer if they would have had to drag the amount of weight they had lost or had them chose between paths where one path had some flags that were worth more up an incline while the other path had flags that were worth less points, but were not on an incline (this would have pitted the female's endurance against the male's strength to more evenly match the contestants). Or how about letting the contestants chose between a couple of events - for example, have the winner be the first person to either swim 10 laps or run 10 laps. Anything, but don't let the trainers stack the teams like that again. It is so frustrating to watch and the cockiness of the males is sicking me so that I really didn't want to keep watching this week. Why bother? Yes, a woman was the highest loser this week, but she should have had an asterisk next to her head that said "results not typical..." it seems highly unlikely that anymore than one woman will make it into the final four and that will be merely as a result of gameplay.

I agree with the other comments women can't beat the men on this show unless they weight more than 300 lbs when they start. I weight over 400 lbs and I am 22 I applied for the show hopefully they cast me because this means so much to me. I want it more than anybody ever did on the show. This could change my life.

I am SO tired of seeing BOTH brothers crying! Get a grip, guys and man up. I agree that the women have had a disadvantage this season and the guys are unreasonably smug. I could have smacked Dan for his oh-so-smug comment about just work harder if you're not happy with your weight loss. That's easy to say when you're in your 20's and a male!

The women have to get over their pity party. I lost as much weight as the guys in about the same time frame (but last year). I just worked my butt off. (Yes I am a woman)

The defeatist attitude the women have is what is stopping them!!! Since they think they are defeated, they are.

What happened to the updates on this blog?

Have been a BL fan since season 2 with the exception of the non Jillian year after loosing 60 lbs myself. Doesn't pay to cry and in a game its never fair. Someones always going to be on top and someones not. You just always hope you might be that person on top. Physically and as far a metabolism it is harder for women, but it's not impossible look at last season. Didn't the runner up miss by 1 or 2 pounds. Those guys looked great. What I find contrived this season are the rule changes that seem to happen in the weight room or elimination room that submarine the game play that is going on in the house in "secret". This is a game isn't it. It does seem to be stacked to keeping the strongest players when they may be at risk. Ali was a good addition last year and this season has been interesting and the inspiration is wonderful. Keep up the good work....

I was just curious to see as to whether any other fans of this show are sick and tired of the "blue team"?? The machismo is just over the top and I have all but cringed while watching the last month and a half. I hope they enjoy these last few weeks before their football team is busted up...but hey! at least they'll have their "pride" tattoos to remember each other forever.

Please can the producers remove the tear ducts from all male contestants like Mark and Jay or perhaps give them a tear suppressing medication? I am sikened by these two brothers displaying the kind of emotoinal breakdown of the likes I have never witnessed by two GROWN men...! These guys cry just about every time the wind blows...! PUKE...!

Hey there, My husband and I are really interested in auditioning for the biggest loser. I feel it would drastically change both of our lives, but we have a 9 month old son. I have looked on the website, and I have tried to find out the details, but how long are you away from your family and what do you do if you have a young child? Are there options or do you just have to leave them.... I know it sounds crazy, but I really can't find out these details. If anyone could fill me in on some of my questions I would sure appreciate it. Thanks for your time.
Joni

Dear Sirs:
I am writing about my application for the next season of ‘The Biggest Loser’. I am applying as an individual hoping that I will be linked with another determined individual. I am British and I do understand that the competition is usually for Americans only but I am hoping that an exception can be made for a desperate candidate. I would like 'The Land of Opportunity' to give a desperate dieter an amazing opportunity to become super fit. I have been praying and hoping against hope for a reply I would just like to know if a decision has been made about season 7's contestants or am I still being considered.
I want to lose weight but more importantly I want to be fit enough to keep up with the life I am already living and only the biggest loser can push me to be that fit. I realise many things will make me lose weight but I believe this experience will change the way I live my life and get me to the fitness level that will make the last half of my life even better than the first. I don't even mind if I am not eligable to win the money I just want the experience.

I have tried to get the show reinstated in this country but there are no plans in the near future to do another UK season of the show. I have even sent a local petition to the government stating the benefits of a show but obviously they have no control over programming. So the USA version is my best hope. Please consider my application along with all the others and decide on whether I would be a good contestant rather than my nationality.

I believe that the American version will probably be a better opportunity as I teach English abroad so I am always adapting to new countries and different food and it will help me to learn how to cope with these situations and stay in control of my food and exercise in new environments.
I have sent in, as requested, copies of:

• The Biggest Loser application form
• A recent picture of myself
• A video explaining who I am and why I think I should be on the show.
Now I am trying all other avenues to ensure you know how much I want this opportunity and to ensure you I will not waste it if given the chance.

Please contact me by phone or email using the following details: email – lellilove@hotmail.com phone 00441582704660 or 00447837756193. I hope to hear from you soon as I am trying not to sign up to another contract incase the camp will start soon.

Yours sincerely,

Emily James

I just had to say that my other half & myself have been faithful watchers however this season we have been VERY disappointed. I do not know if it is the casting the ratings or the players but this so far has been the worst season to watch & we have considered watching House instead. This is not Survivor so why are the teams acting like it is..the point of the show is to make a change in your life for you & yes everyone would like to win the money but if it were me I would be appreciative of the gift of life that I am receiving by the lessons that I learned & the weight that I lost. There is far to much drama and backstabbing & honestly the way they are acting is what allot of us overweight people had to endure during our school years that contributed to our current state of obesity. Now that Amy P is gone (so sad) I hope that the rest of the team with exception of Amy learn about Karma! The drama is out of control and we will stop watching if it continues. Not fun to watch.
I hate to lose my inspiration!

I have been a faithful viewer of the Biggest Loser since season 1 and have never been so disappointed as I am about this season.
It is the childish behavior of the Blue team that turns me away from watching one of my favorite shows. All of you Blue team members disgust me, you might be losing weight and looking better but your ugly heart will always weigh you down.

Please get Vicki off the show she is a weasel I hope see knows she looks like a complete bitch on the show. She cares more about herself and the money then her own kids she disgust me. I hope she loses she is mean and evil. She is an emberasment of how she acts for her kids to see. She needs to figure it out that she is the one that everyone thinks she is a bitch.

I have been watching the BL since the very beginning, never have I been so disappointed at the vindictive, malicious, potty mouth behaviour exhibited by the cast. This is by far the worst season ever. The initial season had me in tears with the group pushing themselves to excell. Now its all about how bad you can treat or act towards others. Vickie and Heba are by far the most unpleasant women on the show. I am embarrassed to have them a part of my gender. Can we get back to the feel good days of Matt and Susie and the Dr. and Alley. Now those were contestants to be proud of.

YA KNOW WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A BUNCH OF CRAP THAT KRISTEN IS STILL IN THIS ALL SHE DOES IS RUN HERE MOUTH SHE DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN CHALLENGES YEA SHE SAYS ITE MEDICAL REASON BUT BEACAUSE SHE DOES NOT PARTICIPATE SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SIT AND RUN HER MOUTH OH U NEED TO GO HOME SHE SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO WENT HOME AWHILE AGO BUT SOMEHOW SHE HAS NOT AND I DONT LIKE THE FACT THEY SEND SOMEONE HOME WHO GIVES 200% AND NOT THE PERSON WHO IS PART TIME THATS IRRATATING I HOPE SHE LOSES OVERALL AND IM NEVER THAT MEAN BUT THE WAY SHE RUNS HER MOUTH WILL SITTING AROUND LETTING EVERYONE ELSE DO THE WORK IS WRONG.............

Would you know the name of the dramatic song that the Biggest Loser plays during the contestant weigh-ins ? Thxs

A friend of mine with dietsinreview interviewed jillian michaels from Biggest Loser. She seems to be pretty ticked this season and it looks like she may not stay on for season eight. Check it out.
