When I read Nancy's comment about ANT at the fire station, I thought it was a joke lol. I was thinking "Ohhh, that Nancy...ya gotta love her." :P I'm thrilled that you guys got to spend some time together. :)


On a side note, it would be greatly appreciated if everyone could please keep the Stratton family in your thoughts and prayers. Today is the 3rd anniversary of their daughter Lizzie’s passing. This family is pretty remarkable. They blogged throughout Lizzie’s illness and still update to this day. It’s hard not to be impacted by her brave fight with cancer, or even the raw grief her mother shared with everyone on that blog. Just one good thought or prayer sent their way would be great for them. Lizzie wanted to teach people to “enjoy what you have when you have it” and I hope my ANT Colony family will do that today (and everyday) too. Carpe diem! :) xox.

Good Morning!
Thank you for all the love, support and prayers that were sent my way. My son and I are resting at home. He is much better today. We will fight the pneumonia with medicine and a nebulizer. Hope to be back to normal by next week.

Oh i just watched the Olympic torch lighting. I feel so proud to be Canadian, watching that. so nice to see Beautiful Victoria. We had expo 86 in Vancouver and droves moved here. After the Olympics Lower mainland will be inundated again. I was just thinking how we need to do something on the east coast and let them get some attention and bring in some economy. Happy Halloween everybody.

I wasn't sure if I was going to give candy out or not (trying to pinch pennies). I thought about putting a sign on the door saying "sorry, no candy here" but then heard on the news that they are asking s*x offenders and child m*lesters to put that exact sign on their doors. Um, I think I'll get some cheap candy. I do really enjoy the kids, except those that are old enough to get a job and buy their own. It's supposed to rain on and off here so I'm not sure how many or what time they will start and stop.

I'm contemplating a costume, just to answer the door seems like a waste of time but we'll see. I might get my clown outfit out (the one shown as my profile pic). I've also got a flight attendant outfit I got late last year for $10, thinking I was going to a party this year, oh well.

A fun recipe from Mom this Halloween! (a co-worker shared it with her)

"Pumpkin Mousse"

One can of prepared pumpkin (or approx. 2 cups of freshly prepared)

One container of COOL WHIP or the equivalent tub of "whipped topping" of your choice.

A teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

Whip and enjoy the goodness.

It was frothy and creamy and pumpkin'y. Delicious.

The possibilities are endless with a topping like this. Eat it as a little side tasty or a spoonful on something else.

Brownies may never be the same again.

Pumpkin brownies? I'm up for the task!

Sorry I've been scarce a while. This is my depression season, and it has been so cloudy, grey and rainy that all I've wanted to do is curl up in bed, or watch mindless TV. I couldn't even tell you what I watched. I guess you might say I just had it on for noise. From weather predictions it looks like it is going to be a rough winter for me. I do OK on the days the sun is shining brightly, it's just the gloomy gets me down.

I have some interesting news. I am on FB as well as My Space and I didn't know I was lost. Seems that "folks" from my generation of D&D we call old timers has been hunting down all the original people who worked there, one being me too. Anyway, everyone was looking for Jean Wells. I am sure if they even knew my last name (Koebernick) they didn't remember how to spell it, so I was hunted for nearly two years before Eric found me on My Space. Then he switched to FB to see if I might be there, and low and behold I was..... So he told Jeff Leason and both of them wrote me a letter on FB. Word is slowly getting around that I have been found. I am in the process of being interview by someone who caters to the Old Timers with my story about the early days at TSR, the D&D folks. I think I am the last one to be interview. To be honest, if it wasn't for Jonathon I probably wouldn't even do it, but he is so proud to be Jean Wells' son that I do this for him.

Now to you Ant my darling friend. I am so sorry for Jimmy. I have an old baby and she acts old when she can get away with it, but if you tell her she can "come with", which is go with me in the car, she leaps around like she was a puppy. Anyway, I've heard the best thing to do is get a puppy to give your heart a new baby to love. However, may I suggest you get an older puppy or a grown dog. A puppy over 6 months old has developed a good deal of his personality, plus he would love to have a person to call his own. Little puppies are very popular, but difficult to live with during the pup stages, the learning to go do their "business" outside, not to pee pee on the couch leg, not to chew up the wood on your furniture or chew holes in your clothes and shoes. That teething time is a killer on the house, and if you can't be with them all the time, they can get into more trouble than you'd believe. But please, do encourage Jimmy to get an older baby. When our baby finally gose to Heaven, we are going to replace her with an adult dog somewhere around age 3 or 4 if we can, or older. They need love too. Some people think we are nuts because an older dog has problems... well don't we all. I will be home with her so she will have someone who is there for her as she gets used to us and comfortable. Someone to shower her with love.

The first show should be a myth buster on debunking the attraction to firemen. Why does everyone have a little crush on firemen? Then you would get to have a ton of firemen on your show, and see if any of them want to save you.

See what I mean. There is a reason I am not a writer.

I love human spirit stories. Something like following someone who is a fighter. Someone like Shannon who has come to the Colony a year ago suffering with cancer and who was ready to give up and ANT talked to her and we welcomed her into the Colony and she has been fighting and leaning on us to keep her going....More LOA and prayers couldn't hurt anyone who needs it.

I loved the Fruitcake lady..bless her heart. I think it would be funny for him to interview an old whipper snapper like her on a regular basis and get her take on topics..the discussions could be hilarious from different points of view.

On a similar topic..he could have a reporter in different cities ask a question to the public..kind of a "Ask America" their opinion on a topic of the day. No editing..kind of like Jay walking to find out just how out of the loop America is on things or how "off" people are current trends/slang/fads/teen speak etc. I know I am clueless to some teen jargon.

I wonder who is hosting this new show. ANT the persona, or the Ant we know. If the persona, i have no clue what kind of show it will be. If Ant that we know then i would love to see some real stories of what gay people have to deal with in every day life. things the average straight person takes for granted.

Dee, I wish I had those answers for you. I just wanted to open the topic here to get all of us on the same page and show ANT we ALL support his career. Being in the development stage, I believe he would like input on what you want to see/hear. (The real McCoy or the persona.) Maybe he could be both? A Cher-like wardrobe switch and his personality could change too???

Lois - I LOVE the thought of it being geared towards issues of equality, and something that allows ANT to showcase his comic talent, but ALSO his heart. Malea - love the idea of talking to people - not unlike his experience with US of ANT in a way. He has a gift for reaching out to people, making them feel safe and allowing them to open up.

Great idea Lois. Comic Ant, then personal Ant. Incorporate both.

Forgive me for going way off topic but i wonder who else knows this stuff. So i called L'oreal to see if my favorite products were tested on animals. Their answer was only when we need to. AGH! Stating that the law requires them to test on animals. hmm.

So i go to Peta and see Proctor and Gamble does much animal testing. Egads there goes my hair color. now what? I found a whole list of companies that dont do animal testing. guess the law doesnt require them to as it does L'oreal ;)

wow. um Hi colony! sorry it's been so long. Things have been crazy in this house and aren't slowing down anytime soon.

Still looking for work. Changed health insurance and trying to deal with all that entails etc.

Went on a 22 day cruise from Vancouver to Beijing September-Octoberish. wonderful trip and memories of a lfetime.

I am LATE to this partay and am not in a place this second to read all and post something wonderful. I just wanted to stop by and say hi to you kittens. I know I say hi to most of you on facewack, but ya know, there is something to be said about a good old fashioned banter on ANT's blog. :o)

I would like to know more about what type of show ANT is already planning. Personally? I want to see "our ANT" more than the "Comic ANT", but he knows what is best for him and his career.... ahellofalot more than I do anyway. Perhaps he will give us more insight on what has already been decided and what hasn't. I was going to drop him an email, but have yet to do so.
Maybe now that Winter is on the way, I myself will have that "cuddle up to ANT's blog and colony" feeling again. Summer is so crazy, and so much has gone on with me this summer. Holiday season is coming and that means time for family....... and that means time for the most groove family on earth..... the ANT colony. :o)

Ok. I totally vote on an ANT show that shows all sides of him. I love the idea of him doing some standup and showing that side and then being also able to do soul stuff.
He has so much to offer.
He also, I think, can really show people that each person is diverse. I think as people we really tend to forget that!
All of us have different sides to us. I think a lot of people have self esteem issues because they feel they can't be funny or sorta snarky or shallow even about some things yet caring and deep.
I think anything will ROCK that ANT does as long as it feels "real". Does that make sense?

Don't we recall from earlier, that ANT talked about this being sort of a "panel" type of a show; with multiple hosts - sort of a round table, like the View (for lack of a better comparison)? I've actually seen a talk show geared to comedians - oh DANG I forget the name of it, but I know I have an episode taped at home because ANT was on it - the format was more like a "living room" - everyone had comfy chairs, and topics just kind of got tossed around and each person had their opportunity to say their piece about it...oh, it was on late at night...dang it, I can't think of the name of it. ANYHOO - I think that would be a cool format.

oh and for those that have been looking for me, my website is gone thanks to geocities but we are revamping it anyway and putting it up on our own domain. I'll let you know when it's up.

I also deleted my myspace and live journal. I can usually be found via my youtube, facebook, or my twitter.

I'm trying to streamline my life and have it as uncomplicated as possible since I was finally diagnosed with ADD etc.

ANT- great topic for you... I saw Tyra today has teens dressing as the opposit sex etc. in school getting booted.

I have a friend who is now 14. For the last 2 years I've been talking to him. When I met him 2 years ago he was suicidal due to the horrible treatment he was getting at school. See his name is Jacob and he knew at an early age who he was. He's very self confident and won't take any bull about it. He's out and proud and his family fully supports him.

In the last 2 years he has been shoved down the stairs, food and rocks thrown at him, constantly verbally assaulted. He tried to take it to the school as did his folks. They ignored it.

I have been so scared that something is going to happen to him like the kid in the computer class a few years ago. Turns out in June the kid that has been harrassing him the most brandished a knife at school and pointed it at him.

The school said they couldn't guarantee his safety so best he stay home the last few weeks of school and come back for finals.

He ended up failing and having to go to summer school because of all the harrassment. Who ARE they protecting? The knife brandisher was back in school within days of the new year.

He has since contacted the ACLU NY and they have helped he and his family file a suit against the school district.

I told him that what he is doing now will be helping so many more people in the future! Parents in the area had no idea what was going on and think the lawsuit is a great idea.

I have gotten his story all over youtube as has he. The school district is balking and I think more public shame on them is the only thing that will help things change.

I only wish I had the self confidence he has at 14 when I was 14 or even now. He's a very talented young man. I went through what he is going through my whole life. It isn't just a gay thing but it gets more aggressive towards gays. It's been 10 years since Columbine and it seems people have gotten complacement and forgotten it can happen any time any where.

Doc, I haven't heard any talk of a talk show until the recent video. Panel would be nice. Chelsea Handler does a round table with comedians shooting the shiitake mushroom about the day's headlines, entertainment news etc. It seems mostly unrehearsed and is pretty funny. I love that kind of format.

I would also love to see more of "our ANT" than the "Comic ANT" as well, although I do enjoy both. It's the guy we see on this blog that I've learned so much from and still manages to make me laugh - so it's a good mix.
Or he could be like the gay Oprah, where some shows are lighthearted, while others are more serious. *shrugs* I'll watch anything with ANT and he'll do great no matter what he does.
OH! Another idea.. I get a kick out of ANT's mom. And I've noticed a few times on Bonnie and Ellen, that they include their mothers in segments on their shows. Which is always hilarious. She's just as funny and she's been a huge hit on this blog. And it would again show the many sides to ANT.

Love Kristen's idea about ant's mama. Letterman's mom was highlighted many times and was a crowd favorite.
Not to steal (but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery), but I really enjoyed the format Oprah used on Friday's last year. Live and with the panel. All the timeliest topics tossed around. And people skyping in, of course. This year her live Fridays are just her, basically, (and the skypers) and I don't enjoy it quite as much. I also love the way Ellen calls up regular people and surprises them on the phone and then sometimes talks to them regularly. ANT would be great at talking to regular folks as well as celebrities. I also agree that even if there is a time slot for standup comic ANT, I really wish the audience could get to know the ANT we know. That's where he is just golden and I think will gain the biggest following. So sincere and charismatic.
Also, a great idea to consider hiring Lois Lane as a writer. (Hi, Lois! Saw your "question" on rosie.com)
And as long as we're submitting resumes, I'll happily move out west for a P.R./marketing job or any other darn thing you'd be willing to have me do. And sign my hubby up as your personal security guard. His most recent celeb to "shadow" was former NFL player Jerome Bettis, so I'm sure he can handle it. Let's get this awesome show on the road. I absolutely LOVED US of ANT! That's when I first fell in love with him. That show was very influential and inspiring to me as someone who had not had the courage to come out. It showed me that there were not only gays everywhere, but that they lived regular lives and people loved them even though they were gay. I needed to see and hear that as I struggled with myself and whether to come out or not.

Dee I do understand you and that is why it is soooo important to take care of each other, even when we don't say we need it.

Jigglin Jax! great to see you back!

so for those who saw my dad's singing video I submitted to Oprah for her karaoke challenge you obviously now know he wasn't considered. I don't think any of the finalist is over 40. Proved my dad right and me wrong. He didn't think anything would come of it. I did.

Speaking of Richard- I believe in signs. I always have. Ironically the guide that took us on our tour in Beijing was named Richard. I realized yesterday so is our Pest and Termite spray guy!

I saw a lady bug on the trip and thought of ANT. My mom bought a ladybug pendant for my youngest niece and it made me think of ANT.

I haven't put videos of my trip yet because i just haven't had the motivation to. Part of it is my ADD. I have over a months worth of videos probably. I even bought stuff to do contests. Just lost my passion or something for editing and uploading them or something.

Actually I want two...

So, in the middle of the night last night, I woke up, uncertain at first what interrupted my gentle slumber. Moments later, the sounds of my roommate vacating her gastric cavity orally (a.k.a. PUKING HER GUTS OUT) into the toilet cleared that up for me. I chanted mentally "don't think about it don't think about it don't think about it" and eventually, I was able to fall back asleep. A few hours later, I was again awakened by a familiar and haunting sound: ack-ack-ack-ack-HAAACK...my CAT puking up a hairball on my bed. EEEWW! Throw blanket on floor, get another blanket, "don't think about it don't think about it don't think about it" and eventually, I fell back to sleep. As the sun rose, basking my room in a soft pink glow, I was yet again awakend by the violent splashing of stomach contents into the toilet. So, I guess you could say I'm happy to be at work right now. I hosed down the bathroom with Lysol. I scrubbed myself clean, and have applied antibacterial hand cleanser several times this morning. I enjoyed what has become my standard breakfast: Airborne, Advil, and Vitamin C. Oh, please don't let me get sick, I HATE being sick!!

As for the talk show I believe it should be an extention of what you are already doing here.

1) You talk about something that is important to you.

2) You have guests who are just ordinary people and people trying to make it in the business. Look at Jason Dudey. You introduced us to him and now we get to stalk him...er..I mean..get to know him better.

3) Puppets come to visit.

4) You test new products.

5) You take us on your adventures. Whether it is down to your parking garage or to Greece.

6) You feature great books which have helped us rethink the way we think about ourselves.

7) You speak directly into the camera and point directly at us..then wink as a way to say 'See you later."


I don't believe there is much you have to change. You can always borrow what Oprah does expecially when it comes to having guests interviewed via Skype. That might save costs.

Interviewing up and coming Youtube stars (like Michael Buckley) would bring his subscribers to check out your show. And if you did an interview and a second segment with the Youtube 'star' their subscribers would stay longer and come back to see the show again.

That's all I can think of.

I am going to the grocer.
Last night I made 2 huge pots of turkey stock after I took off the big meat chunks off the bird I roasted.

I was thinkin veggie noodle turkey soup but think I MAY surprise Blake and make some of it into Knoephla soup. Evil stuff. Knoephla are little dumplings and the soup is usually creamy and buttery.
I am cheating and just buying the knoephla frozen. :o)

I am sitting here right now babbling to you when I should be at the store. Some days I just don't feel like doing the public thing, but I guess if I want to make soup I have to go.

Hey Nancy! That is pretty much the recipe. Mine, however (and probably 'sadly') calls for heavy cream instead of milk.
When I lived in Bismarck ND, it was a common item on nearly every restaruant's menu and one place was famous for theirs... and the golden butter floated on top of it.
It's a large German heritage community up there. Also very common is a deep fried meat turnover called fleischkuekle. Knoephla and kraut. Also for dessert, kuchen.
I am now back in "norskland" and we have lutefisk feeds. (yuckers)

I got back from the grocer and just have to say that I am frustrated at how spendy groceries are. Nationally they say the trend is towards lower prices, but here locally, they just raised the prices again nearly store wide.
I stalked up on butter for Christmas baking however since it was under $1.50 a pound.

I got sadly excited to see that walnuts are on sale at Fleet Farm for under $3 per pound. My mother made something magical called "chinese fried walnuts" that she used to package up like bits of gold for people at Christmas and I am planning on doing the same this year.
I love a bargain and gotta say, if any of you understand the store called "Mill's Fleet Farm" you will get my reference to them having good nuts.

As for this good nut, she should shut it. :o)

Just heard from Bedbug/Robin. She and Mr Bedbug are at the hospital. They are not sure what the issue is yet. She is asking for positive thoughts and prayers as they want to avoid surgery if at all possible.

LOA all is OK

Thanks, everyone. Mr. BedBug is doing okay right now. They didn't admit him. It's acute diverticulitis and he is to rest a few days and take two antibiotics and go back to the doctor on Wednesday. Has to follow a careful diet so as not to inflame it worse.
It seems that in having him take the same diet I have been following for my diabetes, it has made the situation (which we didn't know he had) worse. And he eats sunflower seeds all day at work. Seeds and nuts are the worst for it. Live and learn. It's always something.

Lydia's Cathy just got home from surgery due to Diverticulitis. Had part of her colon removed.
I hope Mr. BB will be fine with meds.
My dad has suffered with it for decades. Just can't eat seeds and nuts or his "pockets" fill up and get infected. He has made it all this time with barely a flair up and occasional need for antibiotics, so I believe the best for you and yours.

Made a big bowl of turkey salad sandwich stuff this morning. Turkey, dill pickles, onions, mayo, mustard, salt and pepper.
Anyone else grow up on these "salad sandwiches" other than us kids on the farm?

Ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad, and mom would make a really great roast beef salad putting the stuff through the "play-doh pumper" type meat grinder.

I love you all so much and I thank you for the positive energy for my hubby. Mr. Bedbug is in considerably less pain today. Yay!
He loves me unconditionally. You want to know how I know? I fed him rutabagas. And he ate them. They were disguised (thinly) as "mock" mashed potatoes -- a recipe from a diabetic cookbook -- and he was game enough to try them.
All he said was, "The cornish hen was delicious." And so I said, "And?"
And he said, "Yeah, ummm, not crazy about the rutabagas." Very cool. So, I thanked him for humoring me and allowing me to at least try them out. What a guy.
Well, at this juncture (5 months into my diagnosis with diabetes) I report the loss of 15 pounds and that my blood sugar stays very steady and I have an average of 106 in my monitor. I exercise every day now for 30 minutes. Yay me!
Count me in for the January challenge. There are so many things I've always wanted to do, it's just a matter of which one to select for January. I'm thinking that learning to crochet might be a nice one. I know a lady who teaches classes for free, so it would just be the cost of materials and the commitment of time. And really, I think I can do it while I do other things, like watch TV, so it will actually calm my nerves the way it used to when I did counted cross stitch years ago. Should have the added effect of lowering my blood pressure.
If anybody is doing the challenge and there's anything I can do to help you with what you want to do, please just let me know.

DIET TIP: Even though I'm not technically dieting but rather eating a diabetic diet, I want to share a tip with anyone who might be dieting. I sometimes buy a frozen diet meal to eat for my lunch at work because it's just easier to grab if I sleep in or get in a rush. I don't do it often, because they are all too high in sodium, but I do keep them on hand.
I noticed at the grocery this week that those frozen meals that are NOT diet brands such as Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice, etc., are often better in the nutritional value categories than the diet ones. Case in point. I bought a Banquet Select Recipes Home-Style Pot Roast and it only has 19 total carbs. The diet meals I picked up ranged from 28 to 39 total carbs. The Banquet meal had 170 calories. The diet meals mostly had 300 or so. And the kicker was, the Banquet meal was HALF the price of the diet ones. So, all I'm saying is that if you are going to go with frozen meals, either for convenience or the better reason, portion control, don't just look at the diet ones. Compare and make the wise choice.

YES..I am considering going on a Diabetic Diet as well..I cannot lose a fricken effin pound and it's extremely frustrating so I will try anything, do anything and take anything.

New research shows that in the ant Cataglyphis cursor, the behavior is surprisingly sophisticated.

Elise Nowbahari of the University of Paris North, Karen L. Hollis of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and two colleagues mimicked a natural situation-an ant restrained by collapsing sand and debris.

But hidden beneath the sand was a nylon snare holding the ant firmly in place. The ant's nestmates consistently responded by digging around the victim and tugging at its limbs until they found the trap, then biting at the nylon strand. Potential rescuers did not, however, do the same for unrelated ants or insects of other species.

The ants' ability to discern and then tackle the unfamiliar nylon snare demonstrates cognitive and behavioral complexity, unlike such simple actions as digging or limb pulling, which could arguably be elicited by a chemical distress signal. Nowbahari and Hollis distinguish rescue behavior from other cooperative acts in that both participants risk physical harm (rescuing ants could themselves be trapped under falling sand), with no possibility of reward for the rescuer aside from the benefits of kin selection.

It is part of the reason I say when people say "eat healthy", I say "healthy for THEM".
The "regular" meals probably have better nutrition for you cuz you are watching carbs.
MUCH of the time, "DIET" foods are very HIGH in carbs cuz they think FAT is the devil and add sugar and starches to replace it.
MANY of us have a more dangerous issue with carbs.

My A1C was 6.3 this summer and I had an "almost fasting" glucose of 104 I think it was. My doc said I should just get on pills even though I am not in a bad place according to most other info I gathered. Though I have had a REALLY BAD month (the Blake moving home has thrown my diet off... bad Mj)I had 2 really great months prior.
I demanded a glucometer from my doc and hook it to my computer. I lost 41 pounds (scared to LOOK lately however, bad, I know).

HAve you tried mock mashed taters made with cauliflower? It's really good but you REALLY have to squeeze the liquid out of the cauli. If you want, you can add a bit of potato unless you are swearing them off totally.

Also. Look at Hungry Girl. My sis says she makes awesome stuff, like "mac and cheese" that is actually the green giant cauliflower and cheese with lite laughing cow cheese added to it.

Yesterday, my sister took my mother to the ER thinking she just had pneumonia.

Well we got the shock of our lives, my mother has CANCER, in her Lungs, Breast Bone, Stomach, Liver, Its all over her Body. The Doctor told her this morning it does not look good, and to get her affairs in order. I'm so CRIED OUT. Thats all I did was cry with my Sister and my Mom. My mom is everything to me. I'm just asking for us to accept Gods Will.

Shes going to be released tomorrow from the hospital. Then shes gonna have a PET Scan Thur. or Fri. to determine where the Cancer started, and what stage shes in, and if Chemo or radiation or surgery will help it. Glad to hear the Mr. Bed Bug is getting well and you go girl with your skinny self! I noticed the same thing about cereal. My inlaws eat "heathy" cereal and it is higher in fiber but thats about the only good thing it is higher in. The sugars in Coco Pebbles were lower than the Go Lean! brand My kids thought that was pretty funny.

I've been through something similar, you and your family are in my thoughts a prayers.

I want to say thank you to all the Vets for giving so much for us. I promise to do my best to be supportive and compassionate when you come home. I promise to do all i can to ensure you have proper care when you are home. I promise to do all i can to keep you from going back. Thank you USA military personnel. and thank you Canadian Peacekeepers.

I would like to share a inspiration story with you all regarding cancer. My good friend has Inflammatory breast cancer. it is the worst. and fast spreading. she decided to do alternative medicine and live healthier but it did spread. she went for chemo and radiation. as the cancer has spread everywhere including her brain.

She continues using alternative medicine too and her attitude is mind blowing. she is happy, celebrating life and refusing to listen to docs about prognosis. Because of that she is shocking the doctors with her results.

She talks of feeling great, appreciating life and loving every lesson she is learning along the way. She reminds me of our Nancy. and because of that im extremely hopeful though docs say different. I believe in the power of our mind. i believe that hearing the death sentence from doctor is the most harmful. If one can block that and tell their body it will heal it is so helpful.

My friend laughs at docs when they tell her scary stuff. she says you dont know me. They dont.
with that attitude there is nothing my friend cant do.

Renee Eve - i lost my mom to lung cancer. suffered from major depression after. remember? i hope you can keep your chin up and stay strong for your family.

Renee I'd like to suggest something. Don't think of this as a death sentence for your mom. Don't let your mom become a victim, let her become a survivor! A positive attitude goes a LONG way with healing.

No matter what, don't put off tomorrow what you can do today. Live as if there is no tomorrow. Have your mom make a "Bucket List" and hey maybe that can be a good idea for ANT's show! Helping people fulfill their bucket lists!

Don't dwell in what could be, dwell in the moment. *hugs*

Thanks to all of you that have sent me condolences. This death has been extremely hard on everyone from our old neighborhood. We will all be getting together next Tuesday night as it says all over twitter, cnn, etc.

I didn't realize he was such a huge musician! I have known our whole lives he loved the drums and that he even taught one of our family friends the drums so she could play them in the st paddy's day parade with her family who play the pipes. I wouldn't be surprised if my dad was asked to sing and Alice is asked to play the pipes for this.

I wish it hadn't taken this tragedy to bring us all back together but it is a huge lesson for people all over the world.

If your elevator stops, by all means DON'T try and rescue yourself by climbing out and trying to get to one of the 2 floors you are in b/w. Wait for help and for the elevator to be returned to a floor.

For those that don't know, Jerry was attending a private charity function when he got stuck in the elevator. Someone else with him made it out safely, but a piece of Jerry's clothing got caught and threw him back into the elevator shaft etc. This is not the first elevator accident that has affected my life but I hope it's the last.

Doing alot of thinking today- That 1 year the doctors gave me quickly approaching but I refuse to give up. A year ago I would have. Those 1,000 hands have helped me fight on. I am so thankful for each of you in my life. I am getting ready for a huge challenge - I may stumble but I truly believe I will succeed this time-Love to you all.

EMJAY! Aghh i am so excited if i could inspire you for even a second. i feel like a little kid who just got the nod of their hero. shy, excited and inspired. I have opposite issue. i want to paint everything. Every day im inspired by the beauty and nature all around me. I often look at your picture of home with the stained glass and wrought iron work and i want to do stained glass and paint. I would get the same thrill going to your house as i would visiting sistine chapel. that is how much your art moves me. just makes me giddy. ♥

I don't understand the raking personally.
I have never ever seen a yard ruined by leaf mold.
Just like anything else, peer pressure is perhaps the dealeo.
My friend raked 40 bags in her growing grove. I was like "why the crack would you rake your grove!??!!" If the leaves DO kill the grass, HURRAY! Less crap to mow between 1000 trees next summer! HA!HA!HA!

CRAIG: Don't wish it away. Christmas, that is. When you find yourself wishing it away is when you need it the very most.
I prescribe one pre-season viewing of "White Christmas," one viewing of "Prancer" and one viewing of "It's a Wonderful Life," followed by a booster of a plate (a small plate, mind you) of Christmas cookies washed down with either a glass of warm milk or a cup of hot cocoa (and loads of marshmallows or whipping cream).
Let me know how it goes from there.

KAT--My dad just did all my leaves for me and he never rakes. He always mulches them with the lawnmower and we have never had mold or anything. (And it is way easier, no clean up and no bags of leaves to get rid of.) But I think people are way too obsessed with their lawns so I may not be the right person to give you advice. Good luck!!! :)
