It went largely unnoticed. But in the parking lot, a couple of guys did raise an eyebrow when I was singing, "Free your miiiind and the rest will faaahloow..." while flapping my hands (the sleeves of my henley were a little too long. and i was bored. it was a parking lot. what?)

Hey y'all... I walked Darlin a little bit on Sat and Sun and it felt great. I only went one house over then turned around and came home. But I can now walk steady and for a little bit. I am so thrilled that it is happening. I don't think it would have happened if they never had me on a laxtive combined with something that attacks the amonya (sp) so that I am getting strength are. It seems that the cleansers I am taking are doing the past few weeks. I can walk without the walker, and I don't need a cane.

Yay.... I see some progress happening and I like that very much.

We are having fires all over my state and you can hardly breathe outside. I could barely see the mountains today because of the haze. a little sore after the MIL move and now I have to store some of her furniture since her new place is smaller than the old place and won't hold it all. I sure hope this is the last move she does, it took it's toll on my hubby toilets are heavy and he had to pick up 3 of them so she could have a highboy (I think that is what they are called) at the new place after removing the broken one that was there that "their maintenance guy" didn't have time to fix before the move.
John couldn't sleep he hurt so bad and he finally fell asleep 7AM the phone rings at 8AM from the new place, she wasn't supposed to move in before she got a TB test. Long story short, they aren't going to kick her out, she has dr. appointment Wed. and will get the paperwork taken care of.
I'm going to take it easy today

DEE: No, I didn't get that thing installed. I did try. Don't know why it won't work anymore on this 'puter.
EVERYONE: If you have MySpace, get on over to my page and check out the new photo album. I've narrowed down my choices for a "gown" to wear for my beach 25th wedding anniversary vow renewal. (These are all new and available online and UNDER $35, believe it or not!) I'd like you to comment, vote or whatever.
Of course I be wearing a pashmina or some sort. No way I'd just leave my arms bare like that.
I also have a shirt on there for Mr. Bedbug, but I don't think he gets a choice -- unless he decides he doesn't want to wear white.
I bought a pair of earrings and a little strappy pair of shoes, so I'll add those photos later.
GUESS WHAT? Ladybug, as you might remember, just moved into her first apartment a few months ago .... just found a house to rent. It's like a cottage actually. She's calling it a "baby house." Cute as can be. I'll do photos soon. She's loving the new job (and I'm missing her like crazy at my work!!!) But we'll all find a "new normal" soon, I'm sure.

This is my 3rd week of school, yes...in Texas they have no concept of waiting until after Labor Day. I have a rough group this year, they are wearing me thin already. I have two autistic kids, which is new to me...but, the biggest problem is that I have a kid that's low and a behavior problem, very defiant...and he sets the autistic kids off. But, they are all special ed. so, they have to be together most of the day. He's supposed to be on meds and he's a kid that is makes a difference between night and day with. Supposedly he has an appt. with the doctor on the 15th. Most likely mom let his medicaid expire and she's having to re-apply. We may not all live until then!

Last night I was introduced to the group "Kings of Leon". We were driving to an offleash area for the dogs. The air was warm and the breeze was just right. With the windows and sunroof of the 4runner open the song 'Closer' jumped out from the speakers. Perfect driving music. The houses we passed seemed to come alive in their colours. Everyone was out enjoying the delicious weather.
My brother in law was driving and their 13 year old foster child was singing along in the backseat.

Hi guys. If your interested I posted on My Space a pictureof some flowers I put into the stem vase that Dee sent to me that had the teddy rubbered band to the vase. After the lovely flowers finally died, I put these in. I designed it. Please go look at it. I am so pleased with it. Ant, I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful, rejuvenating trip to Greece and enjoy your family to the fullest.

I have been doing all the spring cleaning things I should have done in Spring, trying to get ready for Fall/Winter...shampooing carpets, having the furnace and cooling systems serviced. Car checks. My garage door would not open all Summer, had a guy come out to look at it. Here is a DOH! moment. All it needed was a reset button pushed in one of the power outlets. I am sure I have become a funny story for him to tell :o) Hope to be around more when my parents leave. Hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to September.

AK thank you for your concern he is as much wiped out by our heat wave as he is by his sore achey muscles and he hasn't slept in 3 days he picked up a Rx for Ambien today the dr jokingly said "make sure you lock the doors" I hope it works for him I hate it that he has dark circles and bags under his eyes from lack of sleep

Nancy- Give my love and healing energy to John. I hope the docs fix him up quick! He has really suffered with no sleep for too long now!
You gotta watch him with that Ambien! People have been known to get up and do crazy things in the middle of the night while not having any memories of it when they wake up.

My son Jeremy has a friend who's mother takes it, she gets up and watches TV all night. Then days later packages start arriving from QVC and the like! It is so funny for her to see what she bought! It's always a complete surprise! LOL

and the skunk just ate the cat food on the porch didn't leave a lingering odor this time and Taz sat on a table and watched (he learned his lesson, don't mess with the skunks)

I walked for miles today, first at Sams then at Costco. My mom hurt her foot so she was riding one of those carts at the stores. She wanted to go to Target after that, I was like I haven't been riding in a cart all day, lol! Tomorrow I am going to Swiss Days, eating scones, looking at artists booths, maybe even a yodel or two will be heard around the mountain.

ERIN- I just went to my libray and typed in Joe Finder and no books came up. Do you have a title of any of his books or the latest one? Is there a series etc? I've read both Mary Higgins Clark and her daughters latest books this summer. I like the Mother's books better.

DAWN-- An older book is called Paranoia and his latest one that just came out is called Vanished. He is on the New York Times Bestseller list so hopefully he won't be too hard to find. I like the moms books better too. I bought my first one of her books at a library sale when I was in 6th grade. :o)

I for one, cherish this place like a second home… and just like home, sometimes I’m giving it 100% and sometimes not. At the end of my selfish day… I love. Plus the fear of failure has always been a good motivational tool… a “Sink or swim” mentality.

This annoying voice in my head keeps talking: “Yo mama paid big bucks for swimming lessons when you were a kid… don’t be a dumbass.”

So with that in mind, I swim! But I’m kind of floating or treading water - you know, just enough to keep going but not really swimming in the real sense. Life is weird lately. Then it dawned on me: this life I experience is not really about me… it’s about YOU. You reading. Watching. Living… and loving. Were it not for the interaction of other people together, none of us would have crap.

This whole inter-connected feeling of being completely alone with my devices and yet completely connected.

All day at work I see people who walk life’s spectrum… rough biker and construction dudes and flamingly open gay men playing their personalities to the extreme… and then seriously serious Professor of Law types and wealthy airplane pilots… and they all have one thing buried in the back of their eyes.

It’s pretty amazing to watch.

Small annoyances will spew about one thing or another as they talk about their days, and they’re really saying “I need to be accepted by people who understand and love me for who I am.”

People who have tremendous wealth are the same as those who don’t. It’s all the same thing. There’s some choice and luck involved… and then there’s a steady underlying energy that says none of that crap matters more than love itself.

((BEDBUG)) OH I used to dread and hate this time of year...as I HATED the start of school.. I loved having the kids with me and no school schedule and agenda etc...
I LOVE fall though so I cant join you in the depression over that starting! Summer WAY too hot for me.. I hope NANCY will be having trivia tonight..maybe that can cheer you a bit? Well.... .you know if any help... that this too shall pass!

((ERIN)) ..Thank you for asking about my son and his friend....My son is okay..the mental/psychological scars will always exist I guess... but he copes very well with things fortunately. His friend actually was able to participate in the graduation ceremonies...( though long way to go until can possibly graduate now .. but they let him have one special high school experience...which they said was more for his parents...but he did it!!) When his name was called....he got a spontaneous standing ovation and thunderous ongoing applause.. that just gave you chills..It was really something..though overwhelming for him and he was not quite able to get why it was happening ... but it was really something. It was amazing just for him to be there..:) The experience helped my son in some ways decide between several career paths.. where he wants to go in life... going to go into occupational therapy. His friend has a long way to go but has also come so very very far. It is all miraculous.. Love to you ♥ Hope you enjoy all you have planned this weekend!

When I was 23, this night coming is the night I jumped off the bridge longe before they even knew what bi-polar and Hep C was called Hep C. Back then they had no idea of why I was such a monster the night they fished me out of the Mississippi and then the next day I was my "normal" happy go lucky self trying to hold still even though my entire back side was a dark black and blue. Now they know what is wrong with me and I deal with it the best as I can with a Psychitrist and a mental health Therapist. Sometimes I get to rocky places and then I need God to take over for awhile and trust Him to lead me down the right paths. Today I am happy and I never talk about the bridge to my mother. I figure she'll probably remember and deal in her own way.

ALI--That is so wonderful about your son and his friend. That was really nice of the school and his classmates to have such a warmhearted response to him on graduation day. Hope they both continue to be miraculous :o)

COLONY KAT-- Love how you are reconnecting and giving it your all. So, which produce did you choose to dance with? (Not that I am doing a psychological profile of people and their choice of produce to dance with or anything like that...:o) )

KRISTEN--The artists booths were so much fun except it was so crowded it took a lot of work to get to the things that caught my eye. There are some very talented and beautiful people out there showcasing their skills.

Swiss Days was fun, but I did have to laugh at how a lot of the singing acts and things were not Swiss at all. My favorite were three women who sang a bunch of Abba songs and ended with Michael Jackson.

NEBLINA--There was a booth there that smelled like heaven and when I got close to it they had those orange and apple slices you shared with me last Christmas. They had them all baked and then they had strung them on a string with other herbs, like basil and dried artichokes. They looped the strings to form hearts and things. It was very pretty and reminded me of you ♥

CRAIG--I loved your Chris as the Rambler. Too funny! One of my favorite songs also--♥

CHRIS-- I liked your thinking of the colony as a second home. ♥

TERI and DEE--what are you two up to this Sunday? I'm going to my brothers for his 40th birthday. It is not for a few more weeks, but he is so bummed about it I think some early chocolate cake intervention is in order. :)

BEDBUG--As a true hater of Summer, I am always excited about Fall, because I get to enjoy the weather that makes me productive and happy. I can tell you that I really don't care for Winter, love Spring and when it gets close to the end of the school year and all the things start coming home I get that same dreaded feeling that you described about Labor Day weekend. I love having my kids home, but I hate that it is going to get so hot that they don't want to go outside and that I don't want to go outside. That I will feel like a recluse because I hole up inside and avoid the sun. I like the sun to be shining, but not baking me at the same time. I guess what I am saying is that I understand your dread of winter and of losing the sun because it makes you feel so much better. I don't think you need a kick in the pants, maybe just a hug. ** I should add that he is my OLDER brother, but since we were children I have insisted I was born first because my birthday is in January. First month = First. Makes perfect sense, right? I think now that he is 40, I may gift him with my first position :o) If that made no sense, I apologize, lol!

Bedbug - I so get it too. The end of summer is sad for me. mostly because i have such a long winter to look forward to. I found that hitting a suntan bed can make a real difference if you are in snowy or rainy country. In Vancouver i used to go alot and it was great.

Im beat. been doing all this cleaning and house is torn apart waiting to be finished. agh. Limited spoons and hubby wants me to go chase neighbors cows out of other neighbors yard and help fence them in! WTH? This farmer needs to deal with his cows not us. not giving any spoons to lazy farmer. grr. {end of pout}

Landon is finally potty trained (for the most part) and my boys aren't thrilled about being back in school but they are doing okay. We've been back 3 weeks now so we are in full swing.

my garden club is meeting after summer hiatus to do plant exchange and decide what lectures, programs, potlucks, homes to meet at for the new season and I am looking forward to it, Mom is volunteering her home for the month of April, that's about the best month in our area for flowering plants

NANCY- In the next couple of weeks I have to get out there and trim some bushes etc. I don't think I'm planting any bulbs because of the darn rabbits. My impatients are still blooming and so are my begonias and roses. I guess by the end of Sept if we would just get some RAIN!!! Have fun!

Parent conference this week...so nervous, don't want to cry...all the teachers out there, how many parents cry at parent conference? And do you think they are nuts if they do?

Guess What!!!!!!!????? I am down to 335!!!!! yeah! I started last Feb at 446, I am now officially down past a hundred at 335......that's less than a year at loosing weight. Besides Dr. Geotzen's scales are those standy on ones that make you want to fall off. When I get it done at the liver doctor it is a digital scale with a wide base I always less, but I don't care. I am loosing and I am so stubborn that I am going to loose the pounds, push my walking ability which are excellent now. I have all, all of you make up a part of a huge pair of angel wings that you all use to fan me up so I am walking in heaven's care. Thank you each and evey one.

May 09.09.09 be an amazing day for everyone. For myself..... I am thinking it is a day of MIRACLES! It is the "flip" of 666...... so it is the ANTI-Antichrist. :o) Whether you believe in the power of God today or not, may everyone readin...g this experience a miracle today. I am open and ready for at least one myself, but won't limit myself to "just one".

I have done my best to keep up with posts - in my mind, I'm celebrating Anniversaries, weight loss successes, new first homes, beautiful songs, amazing photographs of small but powerful beings perched on wildflowers - -and the RAMBLER! I had a bit of an issue to handle with my roommates; actually, two issues, both with the same roommate - hopefully all is well now. There had to be some growing pains, I suppose.

The MN State Fair has come and gone, and I didn't go this year. I'll have to wait to get my deep fried pickle on a stick, my Pronto Pup, and the always lip-smackingly delicious cheese curds. The most popular item at the fair is "Sweet Martha's Chocolate Chip Cookies". The owners clear $2,000,000.00 in earnings in the two weeks of the fair, and that's after all expenses. Crazy!!

Doc - I am all over that. sounds like a wonderful place. I love that attitude. I went to town last week with my little twin 10 yr old friends and their mom. The kids had so much fun opening doors and trying to find random acts of kindness to do. and their mom helped people find things. it was great.

Its amazing how the smallest gesture can make someones day. I can say i have NEVER had my day made so often as i have on this blog. This place. These people. There is nothing like it. I wish everyone had a blog like this to come to.

I'm so super stoked about Ellen - I have to admit, the music aspect never even occurred to me! Isn't that silly? I figure all 3 of the other judges have that background; Ellen can be the "voice of the people". I haven't been posting much, but it's not that I'm not paying attention. I don't really watch t.v., so I can't comment on those things...but I often can't find the words when I really want to comment on something someone has posted. (Especially if it's of a personal nature. I am uber-awkward lately--no social lubricant/chemical refreshments.) Some may remember that my daughter moved in several months ago. Ehm...teenager...adoption situation...it's complicated and I don't tend to discuss her issues with anyone. But "issues" exist. Not between the two of us, fortunately. She finds me odd and hilarious, refers to me using inappropriate terminology, and my vast array of character voices keeps her well-stocked in custom ringtones. ("I belong in the service of the queen...") But I wish I were less distracted by the current/pending drama so I could participate more with the Colony. Thanks for being here and know that, even if not everyone is posting, there are Ants out there reading.

Elliot's Friend: Thank you for the reminder that we are more than the sum total of our parts, or something like that. I definitely needed reminding about the fact that there are more ants on here ("out there") than we usually realize because they chose to participate by simply reading rather than posting. And that's fine. But it IS easy to forget.
I often come by and look around and shrug sadly that no one's hanging out here and then go on my way. I'll try to make more of a mental note to take the time to share something, realizing that there are those waiting to connect somehow. If I can be that connection some days, I'm happy to be. I think we all need to realize that.
But I have to say I agree with Dawn, too, in that I'd love to see YOU post more often.
You know sometimes I'm not sharing anything deeper than what I'm cooking for dinner. But sometimes that's the most important thing on my mind, or at least the most comfortable to "share."

As for TV shows, I've watched the entire first season of "United States of Tara" on Showtime Online. And since I don't get showtime, I'll have to just keep watching for it online. But I can highly recommend it as weird, funny, quirkly, beautifully written and very well acted by everyone in the cast.

DEE- Dexter is no worse than Bones, all the CSI's etc, but a story line. You just have one thought in your mind what it's about without watching any of it. You have to start out Season 1 show 1 to get what it's about. It's won tons of Emmys. LOL! I don't get that channel so I rent it at the store the whole Season. Ali found it online free up until Season 3 she had to pay for. Jimmy Smits is in Season 3. Craig has watched it too and he's the same as me that it's no worse than some other shows on TV! Ha!

BEDBUG- I'm like you. I often stop by here and no one has commented because they don't want to wait for all this download! I then don't comment either. I too sometimes have nothing to say other than what I'm making for dinner. I don't go out so it's what I see on the internet, dance, shows on TV and my life. I'm not exciting, but try to comment here and there. It's getting harder though with no one here????

Well, I'm here and I guess I'll talk about food. Of course. Oh, did I mentioned I'm going to be hypnotized for weight loss Sunday afternoon? I am. In the meantime, I'm still pretty focused on food. It's what I do ... especially when the season changes.
You'd have to like cabbage to like what I'm going to describe, but I only recently acquired a taste for it, so there's hope for anyone.
Take a small head of cabbage. Cut it away from the core and cut it in shreds. Take a package of precooked bacon (maple flavored is nice) and dice it up. Cut about an eighth of a small onion in thin slices.
Take a microwave steamer. Put the water in the bottom, and in the basket layer a handful of cabbage, onion and bacon repeatedly until it's full. Snap on lid and steam six minutes. Check for doneness.Put a few pats of real butter on top. Return lid and steam for probably another six minutes.
In a bowl place all of the cabbage mixture and then add about half the water to it and stir.
This was the "hit" side dish of my meal today and it was only cooked accidentally because I recalled a head of cabbage I had not used this week. You could actually make a meal of it with bread and butter.

Tomorrow I am going to the apple orchards. Not sure what all I'll be making, but apple butter is for certain. And applesauce. And apple crisp. And, probably later in the week, smokey ribs with applebutter sauce. (It's a two-fer recipe!)

I too miss the Greek-flavored (and all natural) Comedian but alas he’s tending other areas of importance.

In fact, I miss him terribly. He’s an extended family member who has traveled away from contact and I’m sort of at his mercy wondering how things have progressed. A helpless feeling of sorts. And add this whole autumn-funk-time seasonal affective thing… Chris = minimal chatting.

Like many of you, I breeze by to see few posts and keep on clicking but only post myself a few times during those visits. I can barely keep myself going so it’s nice that my posts periodically entertain a few of the wackiest. :-p

I’m in some serious funk around here - very little energy or drive for anything yet wide awake and all over the place and weird times. Case in point: right now it's 3:30 AM. There's a mile-long list of projects that grows longer with each passing day. Son of a bitch! :-o

The sports talk reminded me of this. I hope I didn't already share this, but I can't remember and don't want to go back and see, so if you have already read this, press fast forward ;o) The local college team here played its first football game of the season recently. It was a big deal around here (they won!) it was one of those games where it came down to the wire and any team could have won. My mom and I were driving around running errands with the game on the radio. We stopped at a light on a busy street by the college and I looked out the car window and there was a boy about 4 and a girl about 2 walking on the sidewalk alone. The little girl was completely naked and her brother was leading her down the street. I tell my mom she needs to pull over and so we stop and this other mom had already stopped and was asking them where they live and walking them back to their house. We drive farther down the road and there is this little girl just sitting almost in the road. She is playing and singing, looking happy, not realizing she could get run over. So once again I tell my mom she needs to stop. We stop and the little girl starts running towards our car yelling, "Mommy!" She gets close enough to see that I am not her mom and she grabs her hair (she had long blond hair) and pulls it out on each side of her head and runs screaming up her driveway. I admit I collapsed laughing, it was so like a stranger danger training film! I say to my mom, "what is with all the kids not being watched today?" (it is not a normal thing to see) and we figured out that all the dads were babysitting during the game while the moms ran errands. The game was so good that the kids were running amok. Lesson learned, don't let the guys or gals who like sports watch the little ones when there is a big game on.

BEDBUG--Your cabbage dish sounded interesting. I love all your food talk. Have you posted any recipes at the site that Chris posted?

I watched a demonstration at Sam's for this blender that is made in my area that has more horsepower than a lawnmower and can blend anything. They made this soup in the blender and the blender blends so fast that the soup is hot when it is done so you don't even have to cook it. I have to admit, I was smitten, lol! Until I saw the price tag...almost $400! That's a lot of soup...

OMG im such a blog hog lately. Sorry. can i blame it on the pain killers?

Yay Steph. First week of school down. I cant imagine the stress of being teacher and having children in school.. Sending some big hugs.

ERin - LMAO.. That is too funny. playoffs and parenting dont mix. and no way im telling Jack about that mixer.. shhh. Everything around here is Jack size. He is 6'6" and 300 lbs. Weedeater so heavy i cant lift it. cupboards so high i cant reach. My microwave is up 5 ft. dangerous to use without a stool. Frying pan takes me 2 hands to lift. He doesnt get the size difference. Says grab the other side of this freezer and we will move it.. um.. no.. Last weekend it was drywall. 2 pieces at a time. aghhh.

The cows have behaved this weekend. i went for a little hike and ran into the cows on their property. They had the nerve to give me a dirty look.

Hey you think getting a tooth pulled frees up the tongue so one talks more or is it the pain killers. i need an excuse ;)

Ok, so I had this elderly lady as a neighbor a few years back. We had clicked since the day I moved in. She knew I was someone she could call if she needed anything. She calls me early one evening. She tells me that the neighbors’ garage door has been open all day, that there are no lights on in the house, and she is worried something is wrong. Um, ok. She wants me to come check on things. Well, um, ok. She meets me outside of her house - in her much too see through nightgown. I look around the outside of the front of the house, try to peek in the windows, and see nothing. Elderly neighbor still fretting, almost in a panic. It’s pretty much dark now. I tell her to calm down and that I’m going to get a flashlight. I’m only gone a few minutes. I’m a little worried now, too. My heart is beating a little faster. I head to the front of the house to look in the windows, a part of me wondering if I will see her dead on her floor or something else terrible. I shine the light in the windows, I see nothing. I walk back over to the elderly neighbor trying to decide what the next step might be. She is there, in her still too see through nightgown – made more obvious by each passing car highlighting her with headlights, but now has lipstick on. I ask her why she put lipstick on. She looks at me a second like I am asking a stupid question and says “well, in case we have to call the police”. I said something about her sending me over there to find a dead body and she’s worried about having lipstick on for the police and we both crack up. The neighbor arrives home in someone else’s car and explains that her garage door is broken.

No deep moral lesson there but it still cracks me up so I thought I’d share. Maybe you had to be there though??

DEE--This blender sounds like it could be a great Christmas present for Jack, lol!! I like you on painkillers (and not on them) Hope the pain gets more manageable. I have only had 2 wisdom teeth removed and that was more uncomfortable than painful, just thinking about what you went through is giving me the willies!! HUGS ♥

STEPH--I hope your school year is going well and that your sweet 5 year old is going to love Kindergarten!

KAT--That was such a funny story--I love that she put lipstick on--what if you had found something and got on the news? She was thinking ahead, lol!

my pampered lady cruise was very enjoyable
I partook of a massage,waxing (upper lip) hair was done in updo, had a 'reading' played blackjack had a seasalt scrub then shea butter moisturizer, missed out on the spray tan (they ran out of product)had dove chocolates and the chocolate traveler's chocolate (loved the creme brulee version the best)the food was great the bar was open and champagne was flowing, the entertainment wasn't too bad either we all got a gift bag as we left the boat, the weather was perfect turned out to be a wonderful day

Anyone out there ever had their melatonin level checked and if so, how was that done? Blood test? Urine test? I see that online you can send for a test to do it with saliva for about $70 but if it can be done through a doc and the insurance would pay for it, I guess that would make more sense. Just pre-checking. Any info is appreciated. Also interested to hear if anyone has taken 5-HPT (or was that 5-HPT?) and if so, what for and with what results? Thanks.

Bedbug - It is 5-HTP you are referring. Tryptophan is its precursor. you know like you find in turkey and warm milk? It is in the same kind of category as st johns wort. It is generally used for insomnia or depression. I wouldnt recommend it as it is something you need to continually monitor levels with blood tests. not worth it.

It is serotonin enhancer but not to be taken if you take anti-depressants. Sam-E is another supplement for same thing. and good for your liver.

If you are going to spend your money on saliva test. do the full panel and not waste money on melatonin levels. Instead more important to know your other hormone levels and adrenal levels than just melatonin. If you think melatonin is low. take it at night. it helps you sleep. no test is required. and melatonin is good for more than sleep. Its a great antioxidant and immune enhancer.

Bedbug if you want to tell me what you want it for im sure i can find supplements that are better.

ALI-KAT- Hubby woke me to say goodbye so I always get up to see him to the door. So now I'm up!!! I just had a bunch of grapes and then back to bed for me. Just looking at the mornings news. Have a good Rest if you can. I'm going to attempt grocery shopping tonight as I have to get my meds and there is stuff that Shaf will skim over if I don't go and get stuff with him. LOL! You know how men are. They bring you one bottle of something when it's really on sale and you wanted a couple!!!

Mr. Murphy is up to his old tricks in my life again...I keep telling him I am not interested in his shenanigans, but he remains my most faithful suitor. ;o) I could give you the list of things that went wrong in my house over the last week and it would sound like that movie, The Money Pit. So if you have seen that then you have some idea of what my life has been like, except my house is not as big as the one in the movie ( thank heavens for small things!)

My parents flew away today and I already miss them, but now I am determined to spend my time when the boys are at school writing. So if you see me playing mafia wars too often or wasting time, give me a gentle kick in the bum and send me back to work! This is the year I have no excuses, yikes!

I climbed my roof yesterday and pruned my tree sized bougainvilla and got a sunburn, but at least that is done, now I have to tackle the butterfly busy that is encased in 2 vines so bad, you can't see it

DEE- I always wear ear plugs in bed so I can't hear snoring, the phone, etc etc. They have saved my life!

It gets lost in the shuffle when this comment section gets too long. People are having downloading it all the time. I wish ANT would address that issue. Just an explanation would be great. Maybe NBC is clamping down or something???

NANCY- A lot of the people who used to post here are posting at Facebook a one sentence. You know when you are busy I guess it's easier than waiting for the comments to load????? I agree with Ginger that it's sad what has happened to this blog!

What if we think about it like this: It's WONDERFUL what has happened to this blog. The way I see it, in the past we all came here and posted things intermittently throughout the day, and tried our best to keep everyone straight. But now, so many of us are true friends outside of the blog that we do lots of our catching up on the phone, or by e-mail, or yes in some cases on Facebook, MySpace, etc... I do want to say I think it's CRITICAL that we take the time to maintain our connections here at the Colony. If we can all do our best to at least stop by once each day to say hello, that will help to maintain the strong connections we have here, and to keep traffic flow going for ANT, too. In my mind, this place has become so familiar, you're all like family. And, sadly, there are times when those who are the closest to us get taken for granted, we think "they will always be there", so we let errands and things get in the way of truly BEING HERE each day for one another. So, to get us all started on focusing some attention HERE at NBC, here's my idea. (It will keep us busy at least for the next 13 days...LOL):

#1 is easy for me since it was just the way I was brought up, and my medical career you were always straight with the patients and their families
however, if there is something I would rather someone NOT know, I avoid the subject, I don't bring it into the conversation, so it is an omission not a lie

DAWN-- My parents helped a lot with Mr. Murphy but he decided to give me trouble last night and they flew home this morning so now I get to deal with him by myself, lol! I just have a non working oven, my roof/gutters are a huge problem and so I may be moving, but hoping they can be cool until Spring...little things that add up, but it will all be okay. My dad told me to wait until he comes out in November on the oven since the parts did not come in time. He said it would be cheaper to buy store bought cookies than to rebuild the house after I burn it down. I am pretty sure he was joking, lol! I am going to install the parts to the oven myself when they get here...I am scared, but also think I can do it. We shall see :)

NANCY--I had actually googled butterfly busy when I read your next post! Too funny! I love the idea of a butterfly busy, don't know what it would be :)

DONNA--I agree about the blog, it is wonderful and sad. I love that people have become real friends and that their lives are busy and full, but I also miss reading about everyone and hearing what was going on. I also hope the blog stays here because although I like myspace and facebook, this place is special. For me, it has been the only place online that I have seen, where people truly seem to exude love and kindness to one another. The people here are not perfect, we all have our struggles, but it seems to have settled into something really wonderful. I know that there were growing pains in the beginning and I wish that some of the people who stopped posting would start posting again, but I understand why they don't.

I like your idea about the creed too! For me, speaking the truth is one of those things that you know when it is right to do and when it is not. Sometimes realizing that your truth is not necessarily all people's helps to decide when you should or should not. If asked, I always give the truth as I see it or if I feel that by sharing it, it will make some kind of difference. Kind of like when people say they give constructive criticism. I don't believe there is such a thing. Criticism is destructive by its very nature. If you want to be constructive then find a way to do it without being critical. It is important to be truthful with ourselves, but not to feel the need to always share it with everyone. I never feel like my thoughts translate in print, so I hope that made sense. Can't wait to hear what other people think about it!!!

Hi, Erin! I agree to a point, about "constructive criticism". When it's about personal/human/people things; say between friends, then yes, any criticism is bound to be felt as something less than "constructive", perhaps. However, in the business world, or in the classroom (I'm thinking specifically of my sister's experience here) it's imperative that a person be able to hear feedback (and yes, even criticism) without taking it personally. That may be somewhat different than the context we're thinking of here, however. So, for friendship/relationship purposes, I agree. It's kind of like discipline. Postitive re-inforcement works much more effectively than constant "NO, you're doing that wrong!" So, instead of criticizing somene, an honest and supportive "Wow, it was great the way you did such and such..." or, "Oh, I remember that outfit you wore, and it was stunning on you!" will be much better received. (And more effective at re-inforcing future behavior, I might add.)

ABout the Creed. To always speak the truth...except when to do so would injure another. While I was always a believer of being brutally honest with all, my Jack showed me a different way. When I asked if did anything irritating, he would like me to stop, he said NO. I wont waste time thinking of little things when there is so much positive to acknowledge. Instead he wrote me a list of all i did right. It was an eye opener. I no longer see small irritating things. See all things that make him who he is.

Doc i think what you are referring to is a leader or teachers reaction. They have to give constructive criticism. They are asked to though. We arent. I dont believe in giving opinion about dress etc as i think style is individual. as well i cant edit Jeans book or Lois's scripts even when asked. Their style is their own. should stay that way.

Life is what you focus on. I used to focus on all the things wrong with my relationship and life. and i was miserable. then i changed my attitude. and same life became beautiful.

Dee - I think the "what happened to this blog" thing is that there are fewer posts; both during the day, and at night, since there used to be kind of an ongoing round-the-clock party around here. I agree, we should try to keep the comments up, both from a "numbers" perspective to help ANT, and from a "the way we like it" perspective, for all of us who come here. I'm the first one to admit I'm guilty of letting a day or more slide by without coming here, and I'd like to stop doing that. I love you guys too much to deprive myself of y'all!

3. What topics do you all want to see? I take it my squirrel tales arent cutting it. and i dont want to drive peeps away from the blog.

Not sure what myspace or talking to friends elsewhere has to do with blog. i come here to support any that come here. To encourage others and get encouragement. I think many come here and get the lift they need to get on with their lives. and then off they go. not a bad thing.

Some of us got that lift and stuck around to give back. so we have the opportunity to help another like we were. Its not unselfish though. I feel loved and understood here. I wish that everyone had a place and friends that made them feel like that.

So speak your mind people and make this the kind of place you want.

I love your stories about your cows,donkeys etc. DR Donna tells us stuff going on at work, room mates,, cats, etc. ERIN- Tells us all good stories too. BEDBUG- Tells us what she is cooking and planning anniversary. BECK- Tells us about cars and races. It doesn't matter what we talk about. Illness, sadness, trials, happiness, cats, dogs, fish, trees anything. Just a nice place to connect with everyone. I just feel sad in my opinion for this blog that it used to be 24/7. Now, people don't post for various reasons, but one of them being it's too long to load. There have been many saying that issue. Maybe there is a reason and ANT could explain it to us why he isn't opening a new slot even once a week?? JAZZY, VAN GIRL, HEIDI, CHRIS, CRAIG, ANDREA THE REDHEAD, TUTU, JOEY, and on and on.
