That was terrific Ant. I especially appreciate the don't cry alone one and God doesn't mind if we get mad at Him.

I'm doing better, I was able to shop for all our groceries these past two days and that requires a trip to three different stores to get the best deals. However, it is now taking it's toll on me with cramps thru out my legs, arms and hands, but I got it done. YAY. I am drinking a lot of Tonic water with quinine which I think taste just about as horrible a drink as I ever drank, but I have to suppliment it with potassium to even begin to help the pain, that and a heating pad which Corey helps me place when I can't.
.
Corey is so good to me. He'll actually get up in the middle of the night if I need company or if I need to cry. He's fussed at me for trying to be strong and not cry, but I don't always make it, and the tears start and then I wake Corey and he soothes me telling me it ok to cry.
.
Well it is now 4:10 AM and I'm going to try to go back to sleep.

Actually, I wore two out of three of those items yesterday when I ventured out for a brief walk. My companion wore an ensemble that could best be described a Voracious Beige. We probably looked like one of us was about to be detained.

I don't want to be downer here.. but just been thinking......Why is it that adoration.... love..... admiration.... celebration .. affection.....appreciation... often comes full force only when you are gone? Only then do people realize the place you had in their lives and what you meant to them? You often never know how people feel about you..nor do you take the time to let others know how you feel about them until just too late. I guess life is just so busy and crazy and at times painful . and we all have our own problems to bear....we forget to or are just unable to slow down sometimes and appreciate it and each other. It is just so very sad to me.

THE COUNTDOWN IS SO TOTALLY ON!!!!

There may, or may not (but probably, definitely WILL) be a little surprise treat at the Continental Breakfast on Saturday. QJ and Lydia have planned such a fun time, I was thinking I might like to do a little something to thank them for all of their hard work. All I'll say is, there's something as close to my heart as Wunderbars are to Heidi's. So, if you can make it to breakfast that day, you'll find out what it is. :o)

And - did y'all know that, in addition to Flat HEIDI (who is VERY excited about this trip, by the way) I'll have another travel companion from the Colony? I'm so lucky! Kristen got onto my flights out and back so we'll get to travel together!! Isn't that awesome?? And, we will be at the same hotel, too. Aaahh, life is good.

Happy 4th of July! Have a fun, safe holiday!

So, some of you know I've been looking for a roommate - my big ol' 3 Bedroom house is great, and I love it there - but the bills have been pretty tight lately. I figured, no problem, I'll post an ad, interview a few people and pick someone. Right? WRONG! Dang, it's been tough!! I've had ads placed intermittently for 4+ months, and constantly for the last 6 weeks. People see the pictures, say "oh,it's so cute, when can I come see it?" We make an appointment, and they don't show up. And the ones who do show up don't work out (for a variety of reasons...) So it's my great pleasure to announce that finally, finally, FINALLY, I have roommates! It's definitely NOT a traditional setup, but it's the best compromise I could imagine. So, here's what's happening: I originally set out to find one rooommmate for one of my two spare rooms. It was so hard finding people and things were getting stretched so tight financially, that I eventually thought, if I find 2 people, I'll rent out both rooms. I wasn't wild about not having at least one spare room for guests, or just for my own use (scrapbooking, storage, etc...). So, imagine my surprise when I happened accross a young couple...with a 3 month old baby (EEK!!) who were looking for a rental. I was very skeptical, but then I met them - very sweet. They loved the house, they loved one of the rooms, they even loved my kitties! It will hopefully be a "win-win" because they could never rent a decent apartment for what they are paying me for the room. And, I have rent for 2 adults, using one room, and leaving one room open as a spare still. So, that's AWESOME. They are moving in next week. I think it is going to be okay - they were so sweet with each other, and with the baby. Obviously, it's going to be a big change at Casa Monson, but change is good, right? I'm so relieved that I have found someone - and between all of our work schedules, the times that all of us (any of us? LOL) would even be home at the same time is rare. I have cable hooked up now in all of the rooms, they have free WiFi, laundry, all utilities included in their rent...I am pretty excited. Not to mention, having a baby around will be pretty fun for me. (Honest!) I feel like I'm helping them out because they could never afford a house on their own right now, but they will have access to one by living with me...and they are helping me out of course, by contributing towards my payment every month. Pretty keen.

What a great Day! Laid in the sun listening to Sirius Radio. Opted for a little Martha Stewart and i now have crazy desire to clean everything, water everything and fertilize everything. Hi Colony! Happy 4th of July! I love this holiday almost as much as I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. Why? Because we are celebrating our independence/freedom. We are free to choose who we live with, how we live, where we live, who we love, etc. almost everyone has the right to complete freedom of choice. Here in sunny California, some friends and neighbors don't get to celebrate the same rights that I have. It makes me angry that prop 8 was voted in. I will be wearing my HRC.org tshirt Love Conquers hate tomorrow, and my daughter will be wearing her rainbow pin "straight but not narrow". She announced to me that she wants to run for government in college next year. She wants to effect more change, bring more awareness and help those who are reacting out of fear understand just what is at stake.
I've been absent from not only the colony, but absent from my blog, and absent emotionally from life in general.
My daughter and I drove 1600 miles to attend her college orientation week and I am still trying to find my way. It feels like being locked in a pitch dark room and not being able to find the light switch. The longer I feel lost, the more I start to get panicked. I don't know what my life's definition will be as my only child leaves to begin the adventure of her own life. It's what I spent 18 years preparing her for, I am excited that she has grown into a very vocal, socially responsible adult woman who has every intention on doing great things with her life. I am not having a pity party, I'm literally at a loss to find a new focus for myself. I have had to redefine who I am, and I can't figure out who that is just yet. Maybe getting the hrc.org out here in the hot and dusty fruit bowl they call the central valley here in California would be a start.
I'm admitting that I have withdrawn and feel like I'm a teenager again trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I turn 39 this month. I was a full time mom, but in 46 days, I will be the parent of an adult college student. I'm feeling lost, and it causes me to turn inward.
I apologize for not being around more. But please don't think that the apology means I will be back anytime soon. I'm needing to refocus and gain a new direction to set sail. I do miss you guys though!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July Colony! I am back and had a really good time. San Francisco weather and the personality of the city just suits me. I was so happy to be wearing a windbreaker and down vest on July 1. My parents went to Yosemite and San Francisco for their honeymoon and so I have been there many times, but my boys had never been and it was really fun to share it with them and let them know why I love it so much. All you Californians are so lucky to experience that beautiful state everyday. We got stuck in a huge traffic jam on the way home near Truckee. It took us almost 4 hours to get out of it. Why would all of you be leaving your state for the holiday, lol!? :)

I hope all of you going to the picnic have a really fantastic time. I cannot wait to see the photos, videos and whatever you all share with us. I had to laugh at DAWN talking about sitting at the computer for hours. Too funny! I am definitely going to leave that time period open so if something is available to watch, I can be there. Safe travels to ALL going! :)

DONNA--That is so exciting about renting the room in your house. I am sure you were an answer to that couples prayers. I cannot think of a better person to live with as a young couple with a baby. Your post literally brought tears to my eyes because I am sure it was meant to be. SO very COOL!!!!

I hope everyone had a nice fourth. Until the fireworks near our house it was all quiet. I would have loved to seen them, Beloit and The Township of Beloit both had fireworks, one on Friday and Beloit on Saturday, but alas, I am unable to sit thru them with all the water pills I take I would have never made it. Corey says when he was a kid they'd sit in the back yard and watch them, but now the trees are humongous and block our view.

I'm up now for awhile, my legs woke me in pain, so I took yet another pain pill and waiting for it to work, which it has now. But I am still awake so I think I will pop over to Cats and watch a few video's.

I love it there so much. When I was there.....you were not allowed to tour Alcatraz. It was closed so I was really excited to see those pictures as well. Did you get to drive on Lombard street ( crookedest street in the word!!) ? Though I think that is closed now? I imagine it was rough on people living there with everyone wanting to drive down the road! I was able to though when I was there. The wharf..so much fun..and Ghirardelli Square ...the Seal Rocks.... etc! Oh...just so much to do there. I am so glad you were able to get there and enjoy it and share it with your boys. How great for all of you. I hope to get back there some day...but most likely just in my dreams! :( I got a nice experience of it though with your pictures. Just beautiful Thanks so much for sharing! ALI--I am so glad you enjoyed the photos. I was able to do Lombard Street, you can drive down it but it was very crowded with cars and none of my pictures turned out. They also stopped cable cars at the top and blocked traffic for a long time. I should have videoed it and made pictures from that, but I didn't think of it at the time. Oh well! And I can't even think about how much chocolate I ate while there....but I walked a lot so it makes up for it....right?! :) I so want you to get to go there again!!

Not to spoil Harper's Island for those of you watching, but I went to the Imdb site for it and it lists the characters and how many episodes they are in, so you can see who makes it to the last episode if you are so inclined. It should be an interesting last two episodes from what I could see. Don't look if you don't want to know, but if you are like me and can't wait until Saturday for more clues, take a peek.

I had a good weekend the fourth on the Queen Mary with a lot of grousing old folks was interesting, I think they thought there would be elevators instead of stairs to trudge up and down( I did get a blister on my heel), and I was a little disappointed the fireworks weren't more of a variety, but we got to see more fireworks on the bus ride home, my neighbors were still lighting them when we got to our street.

yesterday I spent at my daughter's home I got a lot of swimming in, finally put that !*%!ing pool to use, there were 22 of us and the drinks were flowing, but I was good and only had 1 pina colada then switched to soda. We brought my MIL with us a wheelchair is always a challenge, she was polite to everyone (I was shocked because she is usually criticizing everyone), the BBQ slow grilling was making me salivate but we had to wait til 6 to eat (that was 2 days in a row of missing breakfast and lunch and eating late, it was 8 PM at the Queen Mary), but it was worth it, ribs, chicken, and salmon and my SIL makes the best guacamole I chowed down on that waiting for the real food to get finished cooking and I had my deviled eggs I brought
so I came home and tried to watch Cold Case but couldn't keep my eyes open, I called it a night and went to bed
as for tennis we were rooting for Roddick as he is a distant relative on my mothers side of the family

Hi, everyone. Well, 22 years ago today I was in a hospital snuggling my first newborn baby, Caitlyn Rose! Happy birthday to my sweetie! (I think she's sometimes an ObservANT.)

Nancy the pool party sounded like so much fun.

Off to Costco (aka the hundred dollar store) for some stocking up.

I don't think I've ever mentioned this before, but my work is right next door to a huge law office. My office window faces the street and all day long I can see the parade of people coming and going from there. The gamut of raw human emotion on the sidewalk outside this place is really fascinating (mostly very sad.) People pull up and you can just see them trying to steele themselves against "whatever" before getting out of the car and going in. Sometimes folks run out of there mid-meeting to catch their breath and get their composure on the sidewalk before going back in to "do battle," I presume. Lots of tears spilled on this little section of concrete slab. You can just look them over and fill in the blanks with your imagination. Very sad, usually, just terribly sad. Never seen any celebrating yet, so I imagine they don't handle many "good news" cases.
I know this was kind of a randome post, but I just saw a bit of it and was mulling it over today.

Hi, DR DONNA! Yes! And I'm hoping to hitch a ride over to the picnic on Friday with you! My flight doesn't get in until 10:30 Thursday night and I fly out at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. So, Friday's basically IT for me.

I'm probably the only one who didn't know this (since I haven't been here much and have been busy with my event) but if you are staying at the Homestead Studio Suites Hotel in Bellevue, WA, this weekend, DO NOT go to the 28th St. address posted on the ANT Colony picnic web page for this event.
There are THREE Homestead Studio Suites in Bellevue. You want the one at 3700 132nd Ave. S.E. Please call where you booked to double check, if you feel the need, but I'd hate to see someone pay a cab to take them to the wrong hotel, or drive there in a rental car and be told you don't have a reservation. The other two Homestead "have never heard of" the ANT colony group reservation, so they won't be of any help if you get misdirected.

Oh, seriously, Ginger, I'm about to open up a whole new world for you. You have to google Kindle. Or just go to Amazon.com and search Kindle.

CHRIS--because I am a vegetarian amongst all carnivores, I always get offered everyone's coleslaw whenever we eat at places that serve it whether you ask for it or not. I can usually handle about two bites and that is enough. All those cabbages going to waste... :) AND the sony walkman was way cool! I still have a sony walkman CD player with big old head phones. I also have a huge stereo that looks ridiculous and makes all my sons friends crack up. They will be cool again when someone invents a time machine. AND have a great time in Seattle, it is meant to be a celebration and I hope everyone has the best time. I hope you get a window seat for your flight so you can experience how great that is. Does anyone know if anyone is continuing on and going on the Rosie Cruise?

They are President's Choice potato chips. President's choice is a brand put out by Superstore which is also called Extra Foods. President's Choice is like their 'store brand'.

Tonight's flavor is: Buffalo Wings & Blue Cheese.

I've eaten half the bag and I don't know if that is really the flavor. They taste 'hot/spicy'.
I can't feel my tongue. Do you think that will be a problem?

Jazi, i feel the same. Never felt such a loss over someone i didnt know and more than for some i did know. This is the only celebrity passing that has got to me. Not as a musician but as a person who has always inspired me and i have always believed in.

But it feels so good to see the droves of people who feel the same coming forward and speaking on his behalf.
