That's too much good luck for me to hope for in one lifetime! I checked Southwest though, and flights from my local airport are between $300 and $400 per person roundtrip, so count me out this time. But I hope a bunch of you do get to go and have a blast!!

Austin was diagnosed with intussusception, and the surgeon removed a few inches of intestine that held the tumor, manually un-telescoped the small bowel and re-sectioned it. He also removed the appendix. Successfully, I might add! :)

OH Doc i hate to be a traitor but San Antonio sounds fun. I would love to go South. Im so geographically challenged. but a place where people talk with southern accent. I love Accents. 5 minutes in Texas and i would have the hardest accent. Love me some Texans and southern Belles. How fun would that be?

I think i would feel more at home knowing a cow was not too far away. doh again my ignorance. i picture Texas as one big rodeo. lol.

Maybe for the next colony event we can take into consideration wherever the really cheap flights are available. It seems you can usually get dirt cheap flights in to Florida for some reason.
Even if someone who lives there doesn't want to be the event planner, it's not that difficult to plan something from a different venue. I know I would be willing. With the larger scale things I do at work (like 500 to 600 attending), I wouldn't mind planning a smaller gathering like this for us and then just going in a day or two in advance to get with the local venue contact. I'm committed in mid-March, early July and late August of 2010, but other than that, I'm game.

I had some location-specific ideas for things to do here in MN, but I can be patient. Heidi...Heidi, Heidi, Heidi. I was saying the exact same thing not too long ago. I've been a fan of his since I was around 13, and I've really looked up to him as a hero for about 2 years. But I never thought that moment when we hugged would happen. I hoped it would, I prayed it would, and even felt jealous looking at pictures of other colony members with him. Truth is, I only got a couple minutes with him. Amazing couple of minutes - best few minutes of my entire life, but other people got so much more. I didn't want that picture of ANT and I to hurt you in anyway. And I'm very sorry if it did.


And I know your moment with him will come too. How could it not? It seems like you and ANT have something very special. Of course you'll be in his arms someday. And honestly, I use to be a bit jealous of the relationship you have with him. A lot of people here seem much closer with him, and I'm still struggling to break down these walls I've built up around myself. But I try to live by the creed, especially #4 - To be just as enthusiastic of another's success as you are about your own.

BABY NEWS!!!
My niece finally arrived at 6:30 AM. She is 7lbs 9oz and is 20 inches long. I just got off the phone with my brother and he sounds so proud and happy. Hard to think my little brother is a daddy! We are waiting for them to get moved into a room and out of labor and delivery. I will post pics later today after we have met her in person.

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. It was a long (23hr) labor and thankfully everyone is doing great.

I will kiss and smell the top of her head for those of you that would like! I can't wait!

Okay I may be way behind the times with this, but a friend of mine just came home from Hawaii and brought me some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, but also in the bag was some Hershey kisses that were wrapped in blue and the little tag that comes out of them says Aloha. They are chocolate with macadamia nuts in them. They are so yummy, do they sell these all over and I have just not noticed?

If they are only available in Hawaii, I vote the next picnic take place in Hawaii.....I can always swim.... ;o)

Anyway, I am catching up on all my sleep from the rough week I have had with dentist and Cardio-Doctors. When they finally got thru, Dr. Thomas called me at home and told me I had a beautiful heart. I was so happy. Now I know it won't give me any trouble when I finally qualify. Anyway first Corey told me he knew I had a beautiful heart, he was glad to know it was sound. Then later I tell Lynnett and she says almost the same thing except that she is glad it is healthy too. I think that is so sweet.

Kristen will agree it was a weird trip to SeaTac airport. Donna and her comments... Craig with his gestures. We both stared out the windows of jealousy.

Took my boys to Harry Potter this morning. It was really good, my favorite movie yet, except for the ending (tears!!) but that is not the movies fault. For being almost 3 hours long, I was sad when it was over.

I think the second annual gathering should have something this year missed... something we leave the city and her people.

A trip to an elderly home for a comedy routine of sorts, silliness and other wacky bits. Maybe a children's hospital? The parks & recreation departments of any city I'm sure will be easily persuaded into our schedule and cheer.

It seems like the only logical thing to do. Plant a tree somewhere in honor of love itself.

Paying it forward. You know, the ANT way.

I'd like some advice from anyone who feels like sharing. This is about a friend of mine who keeps going in circles emotionally.

She's lost weight and maintained a healthy existence (once on her to-do list)... had some other issues that she addressed and will soon experience the hidden rewards of eating gum and candy again (which was once on her to-do list)... and now after these two major achievements...

I find her...

in a troubled frame of mind. Did she not just pay attention to what happened? Was it disappointing somehow that I didn't see? What does she keep seeing that I don't?

I am visual-minded so I see things. Why can't I see what she does? This is the image I face daily. Seriously it's here on my desk right now.

Am I so dilusional that I can't see this thing? Self-doubt. Worry. Fear. Panic eating.

Would she would remove me as a friend if she thought I was talking about her behind her back? I haven't said her name outloud because she is nameless right now... only here spiritually as an observer, learning.

She still would not remove me if called out by name. That's not my intention though... only to chat about what I see happening.

I'm there. I'm here. She knows I'm right and maybe that's the part that pisses her off the most? :)

I love that she's angry, and this is why: the underlying passion for the changes she WANTS is all she really needs. She has it already.

Maybe nobody else sees it that way. Maybe I've been wrong all this time about her.

Maybe I should go back where I came from... defeated? Hell no.

I hear you loud and clear. It is hard huh? Keep doing what you are doing. Eventually she will come to understand what she has going for her. She will be that strong, confident woman others see of her. Putting up walls to protect oneself is a lot like putting on weight. The walls/weight go up/on very easily and quickly. It takes a ton of hard work and time to break them down/take off the weight. Luckily with friends like you, she will see. Be patient...

I am not sure if that made any sense at all. hmmmmmm

CHRIS- In the state of depression, or Where is my life going, or Why can't I be like that person etc etc. It's sometimes hard to pull yourself up. No matter what anyone says or tries to help you. There ALWAYS is an UNDERLYING cause that no one can help unless they help themselves. You can guide them and try to give advise, but when you are that person you aren't listening even if you answer. Does that make any sense?? You can only do what you can do to help this person. They have to Want to Help themselves too. If you give some tough LOVE and then step away for awhile???? ♥

You all know what a sucker I am for themes, and I really wanted to observe Moon Day properly. The only moon related food I can come up with is moon pies. Help.

Chris - You are an amazing friend to care so much. May i share something with you? When i first came online and was so proud when i beat serious depression. after 3 yrs of being almost comatosed. i believed my reason for being her was to help others overcome depression. i was so ready to save the world. But then i found out i couldnt. it was awful. i felt so useless.

But then comes a time where you see that the person has to be ready for it. and able to hear you. Many tried to help me. wasnt failure on their part. it was my inability to absorb their words.

I feel bad that i came on here all gangbusters telling peeps i could help them. then realizing i couldnt. i really feel like i let them down. but all we can do is continue to love them.

Chris i think that making a friend mad in that position is not a bad thing. When people would make me mad when i was depressed that is when i would get the fight back in me. when i was down the best thing anyone could do for me was give me a kick in the butt. not give sympathy. You are a good friend! Love you for that! ♥

I am good! I am packing. The boys and I are heading to a gorgeous house in the Cascade mountains for some R & R. Sadly the hubby has to stay home. But we are excited. We will be gone until Thursday. Dawn, I think you are the one with the heat problem in your house. Fans blowing in aren't as good as a box fan pulling the air out. It pulls fresh air into the house and cools it down making it livable. I accidently discovered this when I was in the kitchen when my boys were babies. There was a window right next to the stove and so I turned the fan around and later that morning I walked back in the kitchen and was surprised at how cool it was. I moved the boys into there and that is where we spent our hot days, playing in the kitchen.

I gave up on Moon Day foods and ate Japanese food instead. Probably less fattening than moon pies or "moon in your eye" pizza pie.

Ladybug and I have signed up for an evening class at a local community college starting this Thursday for six weeks. It's about chakras! I am so excited.
We also committed to a self-hypnosis class. It will be the first one offered by this teacher, so she wants to offer it free to see how it goes. How could we lose?
I've been hypnotized many times very easily and enjoyed it, so I'm hopeful that I can succeed at self-hypnosis.

I have enjoyed the messages today so much. Don't know who Chris was talking about, but have been feeling similar to your friend and just want to say that for me, KINDNESS always gets through to me even if it does not seem like it. Tough love will make me withdraw faster than anything. You know your friend and believe me that there have been so many times that I just can't reach out and someones kindness to me will keep me going until I can. Many Many of you have been that kindness at times and I don't think you can ever know what that has meant to me or to my life. THANK YOU ALL! Even when you don't know it, you are all setting examples, affecting moods and dispensing wisdom.

HEIDI--You know I am here if you need to vent or just want a hug {{{HEIDI}}} Triggers are the worst!!! Someday I am going to remember they are triggers WHILE they are triggering and not after!

GINGER--I was in Vegas in April. The Hoover Dam is great and if you want to do the Grand Canyon here is a tip I learned too late, lol! The new walk out that you can do that allows you to look straight down into the Grand Canyon is on the Hoover Dam side of the Grand Canyon (about an hour from the Hoover Dam) if you do this you need to be prepared that it is on an Indian Reservation and they run it. You park and walk to a building where you buy bus tickets to the walk out. You have to take the bus even though you can see it from the parking lot. (kind of a racket!) There are also Helicopter rides over the Canyon. If you don't want to do the walk out then you will not want to go this way to the Grand Canyon. If this did not make sense, let me know and I will try and be more clear! :)

I recommend the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and stopping to look at the jewelry and other crafts that the Navajos have displayed along the way. I hope you have so much fun!!!!! :)

ANT COLONY BBQ BASH EXTRAVAGANZA - SUMMER 2010!!

There has been a lot of BUZZ going on about this year’s wonderful BASH in Seattle. On behalf of the group, I want to once again THANK JANINE and LYDIA (and everyone who participated, everyone who came, everyone who followed the antics of the group online) for making it the best weekend we (all) could have had. Not only was the scenery/landscape absolutely stunning in Seattle, but the event itself could not have been better facilitated. ♥ Since then, we’ve all been wondering what is going to be planned for our 2nd annual ANT Colony Picnic and Bash, and I’m excited to say that there are PLANS IN THE WORKS. Dates will be announced when they are finalized. We’ll make the formal announcement soon, in hopes of giving everyone a year to plan for vacation time, budget, and logistics for travel to....MINNEAPOLIS - ST PAUL, MN!!!!!!

You'll all be treated to the biggest dose of MINNESOTA NICE we've ever seen!!!! It's officially being held here, in my little home town. Come one, come all!!!

I am fine, thank you for asking. I'm actually about an hour north of Kelowna. I was in Vernon yesterday and you could see the smoke from there. There are 3 fires going in Kelowna. Just keep fingers crossed, no wind. Its not good there. People are amazing tho, everyone helping each other, donating blankets etc and helping get the horses, and pets out and boarding them. Will keep you posted.

DR DONNA: Can you give a hint on what possible dates are being considered?

We know it will NOT be the weekend of July 9-11th. Other than that, we're considering all options. We also want to be sure we don't conflict with school letting out or starting up, so it's likely to be more towards the middle of the summer (so, likely not the first week or two of June or the last week or two of August). That's all we know at this point. I'm guessing that once a date is selected, it will have to be pretty firm, but we hope that with enough advance warning, everyone can work it into their summer plans.
